The July issue finally came out with Hino Matsuri's latest series, Vampire Night. Being a fan of MeriPuri, I'm already starting to like VK much more though. However, I hope she doesn't end it too soon (the longest series she done that I know was only 5 volumes). It's only one chapter, but it's rarely for me to get hooked right away. Oh, I will be buying the GN when it comes out Stateside like next year.

What's your opinions on it?

Honestly...I'm liking it more than MeruPuri too (even though MP was great, IMO). Vampire Knight just has a dark feeling to it...but the shoujo elements are still there despite the dark and sinister plot. I'm looking forward to seeing how Yuki, Kiryu, and Kaname develop as characters. (Though...I already dislike Kaname quite a bit. He's very suspicious to me, somehow, and I just don't like him.)

Of course...the vampire aspect is quite interesting, so I'm really interested in how Matsuri Hino develops the plot. I hope this series lasts for longer than MeruPuri did too (since, last I heard, the second or third volume had just been released. I'm not sure, though).

With this release, though, I hope that more of Matsuri Hino's manga will get released in the states.

Since you are asking opinions...I have to say I find it....well...silly. She draws beautifully, but every time I see a chapter (I read a few other series that run in the same magazine as this series), it looks so overly angsty I can't help but think it just seems to take itself waaaaay too seriously. Don't get me wrong, I've tried reading it, and still skim it, but I haven't ever found myself warming to it.

On the other hand, there's a one shot volume of hers called "Wanted" (which is about pirates) that I found I rather liked, and wished it had kept going instead.

Well, we can't all agree on every series :P I imagine there are a few series I read that people would boggle at!

It's ok...but then again I like gothic stories full of pretty clothes and vampires. I just wish they didn't take out Godchild for this; Guys couldn't you've taken out Crimson Hero instead? God that manga's boring.

I like it so far, and I look forward to more of it.

It's pretty good so far, but the main girl's guy friend (Zero, I think he is called?) annoys the heck out of me.

Zero annoys you? Seriously? Kaname's the one who annoys me...

Of course...I always end up liking the typical "guy friend who doesn't really have a chance with the girl". XD Zero, in fact, reminds me a lot of Yuuhi from Ayashi no Ceres in that respect.

I like it so far too. I don't really like the gothic type stires, but this one satisfies me. Also, Zero annoyes me too.

I really like both of the guys so far. But really I am leaning more towards Kaname. I just like him alot better. But I have this feeling he is not going to be the one she picks. She seems alot closer to Zero.

Doesn't it usually go the other way around? The main girl usually goes for the guy who she has a crush on, not the best guy friend who has a crush on her.
That seems to be the way it goes in most of the stuff I read/watched.

is it appearig in shoujo beat regularly, or was the July issue just a 'sample' chapter?

It's a regular series and replaces God Child.

It's alright, but it's nothing I want to go out and get GNs of yet.

Oh yeah it does normally go that way, but it seems to me that Zero is the one she has a crush on. I have read up to chapter 19, so I don't want to say anything to spoil anyone. :)

...did I hear spoilers? :shifty:

Anyway...I'm rooting for Zero...since Kaname creeps me out. He was better in the second chapter, I suppose...but the guy seems like he could have ulterior motives or something. I mean...vampires can't be that nice and polite; he has to have a darker side to him. Therefore...I don't trust him. <_<

I can pm you a link to the scans up to chapter 18 if you'd like. :) I was rooting for Zero, untill like chapter 6 that's when Kaname really started to grow on me. Once the story goes more into the past that when I really started to like the idea of Kaname and Yuki being together. Kaname says that Yuki is the most important person to him in one of the chapters, and it was that line that made me want them to be together. There is also some MAJOR stuff that is comming up with Zero that turned me away from wanting them to be anything more than friends. Just me know if you want more spoilers or the link. :D

I've only read about 4 or 5 chapters and I really hope that she doesn't go with the "best guy friend"...he annoys me and from what I've read they make such a big deal out of him.

I got the newest Shojo Beat, and I am starting to change my mind about this manga. Most of the characters are so cliche and stereotyped. Yeah, I know shoujo manga tends to have lots of those, but this one really pushes it...
As for Zero, he annoys me more and more each time I see him. I can't really feel sorry for him, even in his given circumstances.

it's vampire manga.......

I like vampire stories and I like the character art in this. But it's pretty predictable on what will happen.
