I mean they always have unrelated stuff in commericals to insult our intellgence and make gamers look bad in the US.

One more thing: Video game movies that aren't actually related to the games that they are potraying at all...AKA Super Mario Bros the Movie.

Yep. I suppose I can mention the FFX-2 commercial, since I was so sick of that goddamn song by the time I actually rented that stupid game.

I know it's completely contrary to the topic, but the DMC commercial of the guy in his red bathrobe cutting up his house with a sword made me proud to be a gamer.

Any of the old Xbox commercials with that stupid slogan, "It's good to play together!" Seriously what the hell is the point of that? Speaking of which, the most notorious offender that came along with that slogan was Grabbed by the Ghoulies which, IIRC, was received rather poorly. Along with the Xbox topic while I'm at it, the DOA4 commercial was dumb; they make it out to be some epic storyline or something with all the apocalyptic imagery, when, let's be realistic here, it's a fighting game with tons of skin shown. Nothing more, nothing less.

Shadow the Hedgehog was pretty stupid. Changing a family friendly franchise into something OMFG HARDKORE. When I saw the commercials with Shadow with a gun and motorcycle, I roflmao'd all the way home. While we're at it, why not make the Mario franchise dark and epic? Really sure the transition would be absolutely spectacular.

I quite like the marketting scheme for the Nintendo DS. The adverts are quite fresh and inventive and gamers can actually relate to them. Well done Nintendo! Can't wait to see how they market the Wii over here...!

I used to see some GBA:SP ones occasionally, but I dont think I've seen a DS one.

PSP ones are most common, followed by PS2.

PSP commercials are easily the worst with those stupid dustballs and "hellz yeah"

That really isn't their goal, their goal is not to sell to you, or me. In other words, the people who are going to buy the thing no matter what, we know about it because of online research or a game magazine, and we already have our loyalty set up before the console even comes out.

They want to SELL to people who wouldn't normally buy the bloody console. So suck it up and enjoy your game!

Hahaha, I love how the black guy was the one who turned into that green orc/monster thing.

Also, as for the squirrels/dust, I think they're trying to ride the wave of Adult Swim-esque non sequiturs (aka lame annoying advertising which is what subconcious keeps me from AS), and unfortunately it probably works to an extent. I honestly wonder about television advertising and video games, though. By now everyone knows they exist, and I dont think the market grows thanks to tv ads, its probably more of a way to let people who would already buy them but didnt know a game is out yet that it is. Anyone over 10 years old either doesnt play video games, or isnt affected by tv ads at all.
