What are the side effects of NGE and EoE?

I don't understand the question.

The urge to draw disturbing images and enjoy doing so.(creepy young chibi Kaworu, Keel, gansta Seele members, a unarmored, naked Eva named Pinky cosplaying as Lum<Which I'm SO posting in Go Hikari!>, ect)

If anything, those who went into Eva feeling down about themselves, at least that I've noticed, usually feel any tensions allivated in some way.
But, it's everyone's perspection. A animation that any one person could react differently towards.

Side effects may include nausea, headache, increased sweating of the feet, sudden bouts of depression or blinding euphoria, screaming, crying, subtle loss of hair, and a persistent itching in the buttockal area. Women who are pregrant or breastfeeding may experience amplified emotional stress resulting from use, and should be accompanied by an indifferent party. Some users reported sexual arousal symptoms lasting several days. Said users should be avoided by adolescents.

Saying "NGE and EoE" is redundant, because EoE is part of NGE.

The side effects include nausea, vertigo, loss of appetite, plantar worts, halitosis, depression, destrudo formation, ego disintegration, Tangification, complementation, reformation, masturbation, ejaculation, and constipation.

The cure: If there is one, please tell me.

EDIT: Goddam, Hexon beat me to the joke, and he did it a lot better. I am so going to rent him out.

Tangification, complementation, reformation, masturbation, fornication, and constipation.
At the same time?

Of all those, I find "fornication" to be the only side-effect I've yet to experience as a result of watching NGE... and I'd just like to say that it's a god-damned shame!

I have to go with Magami on the "urge to draw disturbing stuff" bit. An urge so strong that not even my complete lack of artistic ability could hamper it.

Reichu

Fornication is a rare side effect.

Accompanying the "urge to draw disturbing stuff", I would forward "urge to write disturbing stuff". They tend to go hand in hand, but they don't have to.

Fornication is a rare side effect.
Perhaps you should amend it to "the urge to fornicate". We should take a poll.

Reichu

"Urge to fornicate" would be fairly redundant considering the fact that "masturbation" is already there. I'll just get rid of it.

You need to replace it with the rather descriptive verb from your location field. Is that term a Reichu original? I've not heard it before, and it's almost too apt.

Fanwanking (http://www.answers.com/topic/fanwank).

NGE inspires both masturbation (wankery) and fanwankery. (For an example of the former: "zomg its rei fapfapfap") Declaring what is and is not fanwankery can be a rather problematic practice, though, considering the sheer ambiguity of what we're dealing with and how much the creators love to f*** with our heads.

I've been labeled a fanwanker by those displeased with my heavy-duty exploits, and, from a hardcore geek POV, it's considered a pretty serious charge. To quote some random person:

"Fanwanking" is a cheap and almost meaningless smear used by certain troll-minded naysayers and ankle-biters to disparage those ... who, taking Anno at his word about Evangelion "being like a puzzle", are making a serious and laudable effort to resolve as much of the mysteries as possible by taking a hard, careful look at the evidence offered (the hints, clues, and visual parallelisms in which NGE abounds), and putting together an educated, plausible take on what it all means.
Somewhere in the NGE2 thread, I started to actualy feel like the fanwanker I purportedly was, so I began using the term on myself. This actually has the plus of psychologically taking the edge off the label in the event someone wants to deride me with it. How sweet is that?

You people are dirty. ;;P
Don't make me repost that horrible yaoi sex scene, now. :D And... wait... how often do you employ the four-eyed emoticons?

Pinky in a bikini... lulz.

Somewhere in the NGE2 thread, I decided it was time to take the edge off the label and start using it on myself.
The funny thing is that if it were British English that had conquered the world, instead of American English, that would be probably be considered obscene enough to be a banned word.

Nostalgic purposes relating to Pinky and stuff from THAT site of yours prompted me.

Pinky in a bikini... lulz.
Not just any one either, one of an apparently much beloved bishoujo, Lum!

From the looks of this slightly off topic thread, Eva has caused a great deal of enjoyment admist the chaos presented both within the show and outside it.

Well when its finished you will start to think about alot of things in the show and try and piece together everything. After watching EoE I just though how much of a wimp Shinji is.

I didn't notice at all till someone mentioned it...I guess I'm so used to seeing Reichu use them that I barely notice anymore, heh heh.

Btw, love the, er, "Lum" pic. :D The little heart up in the corner adds just the right touch. Though I guess I missed the "Pinky" reference, maybe that comes from back before I got here...though in all honesty I'm not sure I want to know. :P

...Tangification, complementation, reformation, masturbation, ejaculation, and constipation.
Outta curiosity, Reichu, have you ever seen the "Drugs I Need" bit by JibJab (the guys who did the "This Land is Your Land" spoof during the '04 elections)? This brought back memories of that...

Weren't you around for my "Create your own Eva thread"? You did join before me afterall.
That's when my Evas looked horrid...then again, my anime people did as well.
While not a harpy, Pinky's a unit 16 that's better then the works of Eva R, imo. ::} <another one>

Thanks. Too bad my crappy document scanner forced me to crop out the accompying chibi harpy Ten (Lum's cosuin seen in the image of herin thios thread.)
And as my little tag at the bottom suggests, the image itself could've been rendered much better on Photoshop, but I was a bit impulsive to put it up anyway.

P.S. Answer.com's article on fanwankery just copied an old version of Wikipedia's page. Wikipedia's version is probably more up-to-date.

It is kind of funny how some sites just take Wikipedia's article on a subject, occasionally without crediting it. One time I saw an article, most of which was written by me, that had been put on several other websites. What a weird feeling that was. O_o

Isn't it also illegal? You gave your permission to publish your work to Wikipedia, not these other webpages... right?

I actually used the Answers.com version on purpose, because the current Wiki one had an atrocious new paragraph added to it. :P

Could be. However, all the content submitted to Wikipedia is by various random people who want to contribute to it; that's basically what the entirety of Wikipedia is.

And to Reichu, which paragraph are you referring to?

EDIT: For those of you who want an example of an answers.com article taken from Wikipedia, look at this:

http://www.answers.com/topic/gainax-ending

I created the page for "Gainax ending" on Wikipedia, citing anime having a Gainax ending as NGE, Mahoromatic, and Yami To Boshi To Hon No Tabibito (I haven't seen the last one; I just read somewhere that it had a Gainax ending), and non-anime that have a Gainax ending as Dinosaurs and Teen Titans. The list has grown considerably since it was copied to answers.com. A rather humorous, somewhat erroneous statement that was removed from Wikipedia that remains on answers:

The most famous show to have a Gainax ending, and the one that most likely spawned the term, was Neon Genesis Evangelion (a happy ending, contrasting with the show's overall tension and dark themes).

NGE puts me off my food sometimes, after an episode. I'll be ready to down some rice and then WHAM an image of Asuka getting slaughtered will jump into my head. Damn anime. Get out of my head.

It also has the ****** affect of making other series and films seem weak by comparison.

And so fan-wanking is attempting to figure out something that doesn't have an answer?
Can Christianity be considered fan-wanking then? What about Hinduism, Judaism etc? Hey, everybody fan-wanks!

And so fan-wanking is attempting to figure out something that doesn't have an answer?
Specifically,

A fanwank is an attempt by fans of a work of fiction to explain or justify plot holes or continuity errors, often through convoluted contrivances. ... A great deal of fanwanking is based on the supposed premise that the original author of the work knew of the apparent plot hole and chose not to clarify or explain them. The fanwank is then a supposed "uncovering" of the hidden reasoning of the author.
The applicability to NGE fandom and the attempts to uncover its underlying logic should be obvious. The problematic nature of declaring fanwankage is also blatantly problematic, considering that we KNOW the creators are notoriously impish about a great many things, and it's left wide open whether the reason is...

they really did think pretty much everything out, but they're intentionally being cruel and this is their way of mocking us all, and even those who do hit the answers never know for certain if they have or not
they really didn't plan out everything, and this is a huge pretense / mind-game that plays upon the gullibility of otaku types, or
the show is a test of brains and willpower, and anyone doggedly determined enough -- and with enough money to buy the necessary supplements -_-; -- can eventually solve the mysteries.

Probably some combination thereof.

Can Christianity be considered fan-wanking then? What about Hinduism, Judaism etc? Hey, everybody fan-wanks!
One might consider the analysis of religious texts for the purpose of reconciling them with a singular belief structure and the sacred word of an impeccable deity a direct correlate to fanwankery...

Ah, I feel enlightened. I would have used wikipedia or answers, but after you and others said they were **** for it I left it alone. I can see how NGE is WIDE open for fan-wanking. And I'm British, so the usage of the word wank in a proper context is great. WANK WANK WANK WANK. Anyway, thanks again for the explanation.

Wait: You can't say ****, but you can say wank in CAPITAL LETTERS? Ha, what a mesage board!

...

I think that is probably the path Gainix/Anno took with this one.

Getting back to the original question, side effects for me were depression, a longing for a diffirent fate for the characters, a desire to whack on the first thing that came to mind to forget, going back to remember the good times with...errr, Rei, yeah her, and basically the equivilent of a bad hangover. EoE is pretty much the same except more severe, and a barely containable urge to hurt Rei\Gendou\Keel\Shinji\Anno\anyone else you care to mention.
