No sure hasnt, thats why alot of people dont buy launch consoles. They all have problems, yes including the GC. You probably need to buy a cooling fan for your 360.

Most likely. That or move it as you may be strangling the cooling ability of your system.

How much do these said cooling fans cost?

Are they easy to install?

How new is it?

This is a problem with nearly every console launch. You might be able to exchange it for a different one if the issue persists.

About a week old.

And you're willing to pay extra money for a third-party peripheral to fix a hardware problem that falls out of the company's quality standards to begin with? Get it replaced.

Send it into MS? No thanks. I don't trust companies like that anymore.(Replacement wise)

I will probably just go back to Wal Mart. And demand a refund. Or a new console.

yeah, Walmart takes pretty much anything back. Just give them the reciept and say it doesnt work and you would like a new one. Heck, and if it STILL doesnt work, tell Walmart that you want your money back. They usually give money back on anything assuming you have the reciept. Then i would guess walmart had a bad batch, and you can try getting one from another store.

Ironically happened to my bro. He brought it back. DOA4 wouldn't start. Froze at different parts. Took it back and got a new one. Never had the problem again. So it was definitely the system. Luckily, it doesn't take very long to arise if you have the fault.

There's a pretty good chance you won't get one. In the UK, a lot of stores sell games consoles subject to the agreement that after 30 days, they can't be returned to the store for warranty replacement, but only to Microsoft.

Microsoft are known to enforce that fairly firmly, or they were the last time I worked in a games store. I don't see any reason why it should be different in the USA. It was only ever Microsoft that tried this, to the best of my knowledge, and I have no idea why.

He said a week though. That seems legitimate to me. If they can't take it back, no reason they shouldn't give him a new one or put him on the waiting list.

I called custemer(sp) support. And they informed me my warranty would last untill December, and gave me some tips to try. Like, putting it in a more open space. Heh, I thought my space I had for it was just fine.

And to reset the cache memory.

Hope it works.

Yeah alright. We all know you didn't ever make a mistake in your life. Jae said it was a "launch console" from which I inferred that Snake bought a console from the first shipment. I didn't see that line that you quoted above.

You could try to be a little less obnoxious. I know it would be hard for you, but still...

Hey, i wouldnt mind putting things aside with you, but your response to a joke i was making about Prons kinda irked me.

Back on topic, yea, its kinda wierd that the current generation is having problems too. I know it may not look good (and i dont know how you have your setup going) but ventilated shelving is the 360's (and the power supply's) best friend. Try to keep both the console & power supply where there is a good flow of air, dont leave either on the carpet (as ive heard some horror stores about that).

I guess it would probably just be easier to switch it out at Walmart, but if you have problems after that, you may want to look into the Nyko Intercooler (http://www.nyko.com/nyko/products/?i=71), it retails for $19.99 and supposedly can lower the inside temp of the 360 by 10-20 degrees (i think those were the numbers, there was a bar-graph floating around a few days ago...).

Well, good luck whatever you decide. 360's have been a bit tricky, i guess i lucked out though (got mine 1/24, only time i have freezing problems is during Oblivion).

That joke was offensive and unfunny. The moderators agree. I win.

If you want to put things aside, try not being offensive, or picking up on every damn mistake I make. Otherwise, I'll just stick to the current gameplan, which I have to admit, seems to be working for me. Now it's my turn to get back on topic.

I didn't know about these external cooling fans, but they seem like a good idea. Overheating is really the only problem that first-generation 360s are having, and it seems a pretty minor thing. If you can get a replacement, that would be best, but there's no guarantee the problem won't just re-occur with the new unit.

Try getting the update through your computer if your not connected online. If not are they used or borrowed/rented games or have alot of scratches. Mine works just fine and I got it one launch date.

Jesus, can we have one thread where people aren't attacking each other? Please.

My 360 has frozen a couple times, but not enough to get mad about it. It happens...

It was quite a while ago. Bezerker and I have got a ceasefire right now, I think.

Same thing, check your ventalation, make sure the game isnt the culprit, try changing the stance (Vert, Hori). If your running Music Player sometimes this causes the games to freeze, sometimes even the system. If the game freezes, can you still get to the Dash?

I always go somewhere with my consoles and get it enhanced ( which what i do is against the law) Maybe you should try adding some of that stuff like i do?
