View Full Version : PoC 2: Did you like it?

Did the midnight showing (they had 6 sold out theaters!). Lots of people dressed up (including me) and my friend looks exactly like Captain Jack Sparrow.

I liked it. Brought back a lot of good stuff from the first movie, but I was kind of disappointed. It was a bit slow moving and felt a bit disjointed, but that's just me. The ending killed me and the rest of the theater (a collective groan went out).

Here is some news on Pirates 3 with Chow Yun-Fat: http://filmforce.ign.com/articles/632/632009p1.html

Anyways how did you like it??

I was nearly dragged to go see it today. I refused - I hate crowds in theaters and will be seeing it in about two weeks anyway.

I liked it. And the reaction to the ending in the theater I was in was just the opposite. It was met with cheers. It'll be hard to have to wait a year to see how it all wraps up, but overall, I was very impressed.

Like the first movie, great characters made it worth watching. The downsides for me were that it was so long and also, some of the characters had such deep accents that they were hard to understand. But all in all I truly enjoyed it. And I have to say, that movied had one of the most well done fight scenes that I think I've ever seen. I wouldn't see it again right away (it's too long), but I definately don't regret seeing it that first time.

I haven't seen it yet, but I'm so sick of sequels. PoC was a fun film. It didn't need anything more in order to be fun.

First movie is a better film, but I think this one is just as enjoyable.

I didn't have a problem with the runtime, but there were a LOT of jokes that seemed to fall flat.

Hrm.. so it's a long film eeh? Better smuggle a lot of cookies or something so that I don't get bored.

Don't know if this movie has premiered in Mexico City yet. Some big Hollywood films premiere here the same day as in the US, but others can take 1 to 2 weeks. And then there's movies like Good Night Good Luck and Vanity Fair that appear in like 2 theaters in the south of the city 6 months after they premiered everywhere else. ¬¬

I'll probably go see it this weekend, or for my birthday outing. I'm pretty excited, but then again, I'm not one to freak out over upcomming moves. Only if a live action Battle Athletes/Sailor Moon crossover came out I would, but until then, I'll go see PoC.

Damn. You'll have fun on your birthday. I expect my upcomming birthday to suck. Wait a moment, it says it's on a Friday. Hrm... Maybe it won't completely suck. My dream of eating a free buffet breakfast at a California cafeteria could come true! O_O

I dunno...I really, really, really want to see this and had planned to, but due to other things beyond my control I might wait a little.

Plus, the reviews are scaring me a little. Hey I loooooooove me some Capt. Jack and all...but two and a half hours??? One of the problems I had with the first one was that it had too many places where it could've ended.

Frick yeah, my type of girl!

I'll see PotC2:TCotBP eventually, but no big rush now. I'm more of a comic book movie geek anyway.

I thought it was about equal to the first, more action and alot more entertaining IMO. Alot of reviews complained about the almost non stop no time to take a breath action but thats the way a Pirate movie should be. Comedy was hit or miss.
But man did it feel exhausting, it felt like it had a beginning no middle and several endings -_-; if that makes any sense.
Of course Johnny was in great form as the good captain, Jack Sparrow has to be one of his best creations. Don't think I could ever get bored with this guys antics and mannerisms ^_^ That fight scene on the spinning wheel was brilliant :thumbsup:Any way, since they filmed 2 and 3 at the same time I was expecting that type of an ending.
Looking forward to the next one.

I saw it, loved it, and going back to see it again.

The kiss was hot! I read about it but I didnt expect a make-out session! The first movie she was definetly unequivecly Will's, but in this one it seems like she's starting to get torn between the two.

^ I agree. I am starting to question things now.

I was so upset with Liz betraying our good man Capt. Jack. And the unresolved romance! So many unresolved issues, too much of a cliffhanger to wait til next year :( What about Barbosa? He was dead at the end of the last one. I guess that's going to be explained with some weird pirate magic next May?

I thought PotC was overrated so PotC2 will be a rental once it hit DVDs

I thought it was hillarious, though I didn't expect there to be that much slapstick humour involved. The crowd went "uuurrrgh" in the end as in "You can't be serious?!". Me - I'm just happy there's a third part! ^_^

Actually I thought it was a disappointment. It was still pretty entertaining but for starters it was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyy too long. And there was aslo some parts(not to spoil anyone) that made me go 'HUH???"

Nevertheless, I will be still getting this when it comes to DVD...it's still better than most of the crap out there.

You are going to marry Videl in Vegas with Elvis officiating? Elvis married me and my wife and sung Blue Suede Shoes and Hound Dog to boot.

Exactly what I thought. And I will still be seeing the third. Cut 30 min off and I think it could have been better.

I went back and saw it another time today. Still good.

There was an excited murmer when Babosa walked down the stairs, and everyone seemed to like it (1st and 2nd time) and there was a round of clapping when it was over

Anyone know when the 3rd one comes out?

Didnt mind the end at all. I mean theres more, whats there to groan about. As much of a surprise it was to see Barbosa I liked Davy Jones, come on he was freakin squid. He was a great villian, and that peg leg did it for me.

I saw the movie on the first day it came out, I loved it ! It was funny and surprising! My favorite quote was (Trying to keep it spoiler free)as they got to the island jack told the crew something and as he took 2 steps, he turned and said "...and don't touch my dirt" He refering the dirt in the jar.

I want to go back and see it again but i'm saying my money for other movies especially for Clerks 2.

I can't wait for the 3rd one.
