Knowing ADV they will release thinpaks/box-sets after a certain time of the last dvd. I've seen a couple of the episodes (about 18) and really like the show and it made me consinder buying it, but now the last dvd is out.
WIll the boxset (probally 2 boxsets) be expensive?

Well if there not out yet, honestly how are we supposed to know whether or not they will be expensive? Well many people have inquired regarding thins for Get Backers but no dates or solid evidence that its in the works has been stated. I suggest if you really want the series to either rent the DVDs and watch them therfore your in no real hurry (say a year or so) then get the thins (if they ever come out). If you really badly want to own the DVDs I suggest surfing the web, you can find some great deals if you know where to look and when.

Well, the boxsets will probably save you money, knowing how ADV makes their thinpacks cheaper. Who knows if they will even release them?
I would just get the regular dvds. You don't know if thinpacks will even be made. However, if you are patient enough to wait and really want to save, then go wait for thinpacks to be announced (if they are).

Thinpaks will eventually be made. Expect to wait from a year or two from the release of the last disc for it to come out.
No, they will not say anything about it until they're ready to solicit the set to retailers. Otherwise, people would be more likely to wait and not buy the singles. ADV wants you to buy the singles.
Yes, they will be considerably cheaper than the average retail price for the singles. They will also, more than likely, be extraless. Though I have no idea what kind of extras were on the discs, so this might not matter one way or the other. There will be fewer discs in the thinpaks, so I can't see them doing more than one box. Probably 7 or 8 discs, depending on how they choose to cram them.
So, how much do you like the series? Do you want to spend $200 or more on singles? Or wait for the thinpaks and pay half that? It really just depends on your patience and budget, unless you find a good sale somewhere. Personally, I'm waiting. I like what I saw of the series, but I prefer the cheaper sets.

I'm pretty good at finding the cheapest prices for things so I think I'll start buying them now and hopefully finish before the end of this year.

Hopefully, you won't have started buying them yet since this thread is only 10-11 days old. Video Vault has the season 1 set art, a retail price of $59.98, and claims the release date is sometime in October.

Your helping the anime industry more by buying the singles.

I also planned to get Getbackers, but I would rather have a thin pack set instead of buying the singles. So in October...I suppose I'll go ahead and buy that.

I'm at the Video Vault site and I can't find anything on Get Backers. How do we know this is official? AoD doesn't even have a solicitation for it.
