Has anyone ever bought anime from columbiahouse? I am thinking about it perhaps, they got afew decent anime. But I am wary, just wanted to know if anyone has done this. You gotta buy five regular priced DVDs after your first cheapo order, but I wonder if after that they are like $35 a DVD

Well, seeing as this is Animenation (a store that sells anime related merchandise), and they basically forbid mention of competitors, I'm guessing your request for information will be replied to with something like,

"Quit trying to steal Animenation's money".

Have you checked anything on google though? Yahoogle are my 2 engines I primarily use.

It is a scam basically they send you a card and you have to send it back or they willl send you crap movie as an auto selection. They usually time the card so you have to send it back 15 minutes after you get it or you will have to pay for soome movie you would have never bought unless coerced. Avoid at all cost.

Also the reg priced dvd's you HAVE to buy are gonna be crappy. All of there new dvd's are on sale so you have to be carefull on what you wanna buy if you wanna get out of it. We were stuck wit them for 3 years because we couldnt find any regular priced movies we wanted. We bought movies yeah but they were always on sale and it was just 2 bucks off. That was a few years back when most of there anime they had sucked. I think they had pokemon and some other "main stream" anime titles. But like Bernard said, avoid at all cost.

i never used them for anime, but when i used them for regular stuff, i never had a problem. it was absurdly easy to cancel the auto selections. it just got addicting after a while, so i had to force myself to stop. if you find the right deal, you can get around 6 movies for around 20 bucks, and then buy one for another 20 bucks later. just make sure you read the agreement deal when you sign up. once you finish your end of the bargain, cancel your account. it was all easy to do back when i did it. was a couple years ago thogh, so they may have changed.

just my two cents.

Wow alot of you don't know what youre talking about. Its really easy to use CH for DVDs. I make accounts there all the time. Heres how: Go to the site and look for the link for the deal (like the thing that says 6 dvds now and so on). There will be a box to put in a code to change the deal. Type in C7L, which will change the deal to 7 enrollment(6 will be for .49¢ and buy one at $9.99) and then + 2 regular price to fullfill. The reg. price is $20. not $35 or that crap people were saying(they have dvds that are under $20 but they dont count to your fullfill). Also with your first order after to sign up theres a link to get $5 off your first order. And also every other month they send out buy 1 get 1 free codes. So it you wait for the B1G1, you get 11 dvds for around $55 or dont wait for the B1G1 and get 9 dvds for around $55. And you can have 2 accounts at once. And the give you a month to reply if you dont want the disc they send out, not 15 mins. Just send the paper back or go on the site to reply. Its so easy to do. I make accounts all the time with them. Just make an account with the code i said, then after you get your 7 movies, buy your 2 at $20 or more then cancel. Easy as pie. If you want to know more, send me a PM, and i'll send you a link to a site thats all about using the site. So great info there on how to use CH. Plus they have a ton of anime:

Batle of the Planets
Case Closed
Dragon Ball Z
Dragon Ball Gt
Fruits Basket
Inu Yasha
Kiddy Grade
Speed Racer
Yu-Gi-Oh!
Yu Yu Hakusho
Appleseed
Hellsing
Samurai Champloo
Fullmetal Alchemist
Galaxy Railways
Tenchi Muyo! GXP
Burst Angel
Gunslinger Girl
Samurai 7
Spiral
Now and Then, Here and There

And a bunch more on the site.

well it can really be a good deal if for the series they have complete on there or a few volumes to fill in the holes in your collection but for any serious business it doesn't seems worth it. i took the chance to pick up some Burst Angel, Samurai 7, and Gunslinger Girl earlier this year but now nothing interests me there anime wise (or at least nothing i'm gonna pay full price for). their selection is highly gapped and a lot non-existant. unfortunately i'm not truly interested in any hollywood stuff either so i got nothing to complete the membership requirements. hopefully sometime in the 2 years provided something good will catch my attention. it all comes down to personal tastes, if you see a lot of things to buy so you can finish the requirement quickly then go for it. that way you don't have to deal with the hassle of declining the director's selection every month before they send and charge you.
