About a year ago one of my friend's brothers gave me a copy of a CD he got from his cousin in Japan.

The CD has about 15 tracks and is hiphop/rap. It seems to be a group of 2/3 or more people.

I think one of the songs is titled "Rolling Rolling", but I don't really know, haha. They also have another song (track 7 or so) where they do a short "My addidas" tribute. Can't really give anymore detail than that, haha.

If anybody is familiar with hip hop, I'll be more than happy to send you a sample of the songs.

I'd like to find out the artist so I can find what other albums they've released.

So, anyone here familiar with j-rap/hip hop?

I have some j-hip hop like M-flo, SOUL'D Out, Namie Amuro, and I really like Ketsumeishi. J-hip hop doesn't really intrest me though, I prefer j-pop.

Send it to me Chouchou..and I'll have my son listen to it.

He has alot of J-pop/hip-pop songs downloaded..I'm sure he can tell me what the song(s) are.

When he wakes up, I'll ask him then PM you the answer..

Hopefully before then tho, someone else might give you the answer.

Young people..you guys sure do sleep alot.

Of course, it doesn't help when he stays up until 3 in the morning playing "Chibi Gundam" on his video game console.

Haha, just wait. I go to sleep at 9am and wake up around 3pm. This is why I schedule night classes... or the result.

el chouchou est in the mujer of comp sci. In other words, I type, compile, and hopefully something that works comes out.

Major went something like
Comp sci => Music => Undecided => Comp sci

I'd also like to major in foreign languages, Japanese specifically, but I don't have enough money, haha. At the local uni it's 2k for one semester of Japanese. I think it would be cheaper for me to just fly and pick it up as I need, haha.

So uhhh, to keep it on topic... by taking more Japanese classes... I'll be able to understand these songs better? haha, my listening comprehension sucks, I'm decent at speaking, but reading is more my forte. Of course, with reading I can also take my time, look up what I don't know, etc. Plus, nobody spits in your face when you read (well.... not usually). :P

Sure..you can take a Japanese class to learn the lingo and to understand it better..but hun..I'm a natural born Nihonjin..and even I don't undertand some of the stuff J-Pop/hip-pop songs are saying. :P

But..good luck to you anyway!

Go Nippon...

Chouchou..I can safely say that ...NO..my son has never heard of the group or songs..sorry!

But..what the heck do I know..

Not a damn thing.

Ummm, if I can find the CD, I'll put some other songs that maybe someone has heard of.

I know of Soul'd Out and Miss Monday, and a few others here and there... I THINK Dragon Ash is considered Hip Hop, but I never heard them myself. I don't like J-Hiphop or Rap. Only song I ever liked BY a J-Hiphop or Rapper is Soul'd Out's "To Tha Dreamers" Pretty inspirational and catchy.

Hmmm… does it have to be Japanese? Kuz I have a mix of Korean, cheeses, and Japanese. Here are a few of the artists I know of and I recommend a lot of them for people who want to listen to some good music.
12012, 1TYM, Ares, Baby Vox, Baby Q, Beat Crusaders, Boa, Buck-Tick, Clon, Crow, DELI, Dir En Grey, Disco Truck, Do As Infinity, Dong Bang Shin Ki, Drunken Tiger, Epik High, Eve, FIV, Flame,
O.K. I can’t finish my collection off so I’ll just pick some good ones to add.
H.O.T., High and Mighty Color, Hyde (singer for L`Arc`en`ciel), Jang woo Hyuk, Koo Jun Yup, L`Arc`en`ciel, Leassang, LUV, MILK, Moi Dix Mois, Moonheejun, Move, Nami Tamaki, Olivia (she sings in English but she is Japanese), Pan Wei Bo, Ping Pung, Rikki (sings the FFX song when titus and yuna are kissing), Seo Taiji, SM Town (all x-mass songs from a record label), SS501, T.M. Revolution (does a lot of the gundam songs), W (vary happy), Yousuke Sakanoue, and Danger Gang.

also if someone tells me how to send music i could give a few samples or give my whole list to them.

I have some other songs on a disc that I could find. If I am able to find it, would you be able to tell from the whole CD?

btw, thanks for helping out!!

oh one question is that track 3, track 3 from the album or did it just happen to be the third track on the cd? (worst case I'll ask my bro he likes Rhymester a lot, but I'm almost positive cause Mummy-D's flow is very recognizable)

Another good one that I didn’t put in there was The Trax. The are O.K. I you can get over the fact that the drummer is a guy. His name is Rose and he has long blond hair with red lipstick and red nail polish.

Umm, it's hard for me to tell. It's been about 2 or 3 years since I even got the CD, haha. My friend tried to burn every track from his computer onto the CD, but since some software had said he already burnt 2 tracks before, he could only burn the CD - those 2 I sent you. He happened to email those to me and I found them while cleaning out my inbox.

They may be tracks 03 and 07 though. Expect a much bigger PM, though, haha.

I downloaded a couple of Tigarah acapellas to cut up and slice (I make my own electronica.). They were pretty poor. A bit like a japanese Gwen Stefani.

A friend of mine once told me about a j-rap song called "It's my rice, b*tch" (or something like that), which just tells me that the Japanese should stick to pop music and metal

I've been listening to a lot of J-hip hop lately. I liked Heartsdales for a while, but right now my favorite is Bennie K, although they're a little more outside the hip hop field than most. And as been mentioned in this thread a lot, I also really like M-flo.

Can somebody define J-Hip hop? I know what J-pop is and what J-urban is, but j-hip hop?

For J-urban I like Heartsdales before they got all prissy, m-flo before they lost Lisa, m-flo, SOUL'd OUT, Bennie K, and Chrystal Kay.

I like Chemistry, and I think they are Hip Hop.

J-Hop hop is hip hop... in japan? Haha, I'm not familiar with all of these sub categories that people use.

How familiar are you with artists from a couple of years ago. If I send you a link, would you maybe be able to tell who it is?

Like some kind of trivia or a song you don't know? I might know it, I don't concern myself with knowing every little band, I just like what's good.

I'm not really up in the terms I guess. I hadn't heard J-urban before, but then again I hadn't heard of J-hip hop either. It's just what everyone in this thread was using. But I also stopped listening to Heartsdales for the same reason. They just got boring. As for others, there's Halcali that's more happy hip hop and for the old school, there's East End X Yuri, although all their songs sound exactly the same.

I just realized I forgot a recent group that caught my attention, Mihimaru GT. Their songs tend to be fairly hit & miss for me. Either they have really good songs or really bland and boring songs and very little in between.

I'm more of a fan of J-pop. I would go into the realm of J-Rap, but I don't know any good artists. Only song I have is from that Oendan game, Kokoro Odoru.
