Cosplay help.. for a not-so-perfect person.

So, I need some help for a cosplay. I am not the skinniest girl of them all, and I don't exactly have the typical anime girl's body.

I am about 6', 'more to love' I suppose fits me. I have short-er hair, but am willing to do anything to it. I recently went to Anime Boston in May as Misha from Pita Ten &seemed to pull that one off fine (mainly due to many layers, I'm sure.) I had been to previous conventioned, and never dressed up because I never got the courage, but I really enjoy dressing up.

I do also have a lip piercing that can easily be toned down, or taken care of completely. My hair is always changing.
I just hate how the height &weight thing can sometimes hold me back.

Go as anybody you want to be, simple as that. You're slim enough to pull most anime girls off, just not the barbie-girl-that-don't-exist style.

So pick a favorite character and go for it! As for your hair, there's always wigs.

OH!! I suggest going as Lulu from Final Fantasy X! I don't know why...but you kind of look like her in the face area ^_^.

Just get a wig, and some purple eyeshadow/lipstick and your face is all set!

Height and weight holding you back? Christ, when I clicked on the pic I expected to see a 400 lb. monster, but you're NORMAL. Height only becomes a problem when you're 4'5", then its "Ha ha, look at midget Winry!" You could pull anyone off, but I think you'd make a perfect Ryoko from Tenchi Muyo.

I just want to add extra emphasis on the fact that there's NOTHING WRONG WITH YOU. As Troy McClure from The Simpsons would say, "Get confident, stupid!"

Um I think height or body type shouldn't be a main factor on picking what characters to cosplay as, sure it's nice to be as accerate as possible. But if a person doesn't have the right height or body type for a certain character that he/she likes to cosplay as, well then he/she can still cosplay as that certain character. Cosplay is all about having fun. ^_^

Btw I'm 4'9 and I'm not as thin as I used to be but I still like to cosplay as different characters. :)

Hells yah Honey! Seriously that comment 400 pound monster was a bit harsh Wadem. I mean... Its very discriminatory and heck that even hurts my feelings even though its not direct. ;-;

It doesn't matter how tall, or how thin or not you are. If you wanna dress up just do it! :D Have fun and what not. I am not the thinnest person either. I dont give a damn though how I will look in a costume or what not.

Figure out your favorite characters and pick which one you wanna do! If you havent made a costume yet just go with the flow and pick a simple costume first. I went as merle from escaflowne one year at Nan Desu Kan here in colorado. It was my first costume and the simplest! I had fun and I even have the pink wig! WEE ! LD

So yah lesseee..... simple costumes.... Want animes do you like and whats your fave mangas. Thats a good place to start. Once you can send me some of those then I can help ya out! :)

Samsama is right. You look great. I think you can pull off Samurai X Reflection Kaoru with a black wig. I have absolutely no idea how to make the cosplay, but on ebay, if you type in "kaoru cosplay" with "all catagories" theres sometimes a kimono by cosplay sanctuary. or visit cosplay sanctuary (http://home.earthlink.net/~finalfantasymiko/aboutus.html) Anyway, you'd probably look good in almost any cosplay. ^_^dont be conceited.
