I've purchased the first 4 volumes, I'm just wondering if maybe the last volume is going to come with a box, or did i get screwed over?

Does anyone know a site maybe where i can just buy the box seperate? :)

There is no box for Cowboy Bebop Remix and I don't think the chances of one being released are very big.

well, i'm not sure......but they did release an EVA platinum box. also, the X remix will have a box. so i would guess the chances are good that CB remix will get a box.

You do realize none of these releases are from the same company? Bebop isn't going to have a box. If it was, we'd have heard by now, as it would have been solicited with the last disc. And they never actually said it was going to have one. I think it was mentioned as a possiblity, depending on money, but never as a certainty. Of course, they may surprise us at the last minute, but I wouldn't count on it.

Bandai have stopped doing boxes on all their releases in the US.

Just look at Planetes - many were suprised it didn't get a box.

If you really want a Box then your have to import from Australia

<stops and thinks about it...>

You're right; Planetes didn't get a box. Hmm...

<checks>

It's not even going to GET a box? That's what I've been waiting for, too.

Hmm. I guess Planetes is one absolutely top-notch A-list title that I'm going to seriously reconsider whether I need to own or not. I rented it and have been waiting for a box set to be released, with intent to buy it immediately. It didn't even dawn on me that there might not BE one. Huh. So they've figured out that people won't buy the singles if they can wait for the box set, and thus have stopped announcing box sets to help push the singles? Nope, I don't like that one bit.

DESSLOCK TO INDUSTRY: If you think I'm buying anything at 'singles' price, you're sadly mistaken. Planetes is probably one of the top three series I've ever seen, but if you're not gonna sell it at a 'box set' price point, you can keep it. I rented it, I'm happy, keep your singles. There are plenty of other series upon which I can spend my money, thanks.

On-Topic: Feh, I have no need to upgrade to the Remix edition, and thus no need of a box.

^From what I recall, with only those few exceptions of odd repackagings a few years ago, Bandai's been releasing all of their complete collections in bricks. They're still releasing complete sets. Just not in boxes. That was what the original poster was asking about, I assume, since they already have the first 4 volumes. So, Desslok, you can still get a cheap complete collection. It'll just be in a brick. But it's not going to happen immediately. They want people to buy the singles for awhile, then when those have run dry after a year or two of the last one being released, then they put out the set.

Yay! Good to hear. I can wait for the brick, just like I did for Big O.

Not only has thier main replicator gone bye-bye(which hopefully they've fixed by now) but the company looks like its gone topsy turvy due to the merger with Namco. Most of thier releases have been barebones(save thier current trump card, Eureka seveN). No inserts. No box(for most) and the same trailers since last summer. They are just running on fumes at the moment, imho. Hope things get better

I don't think they need a box, the slipcovers look great and add protection, but like previously mentioned get the R4 Vol.1 w/box

Are all R4 dvds the same dimensions as R1 dvds, and do they all contain the same number of episodes as R1s?

Hopefully CB will get a box. I'll keep my hopes up. It would make prefect sense since there are alot of people like me I'm sure who want it boxed, and besides, it's one of the more successful anime in the US, so it could make them more money. I imagine they haven't announced one yet because they hope everyone will buy the barebones, then fork out more money to get the box when it's announced (if it is). What I would really love to see is an "Anime Legends" edition set, because it would make it much cheaper. They've already done it for series like Escaflowne and Wolf's Rain, so why not Bebop too?

^Not to say they won't ever put out a complete collection, but Bebop singles make much more money than Esca and Wolf's Rain. It's easily their most successful title currently. They're going to milk it for all it's worth. They could very well follow the Geneon model and put out a full priced set in a real box first, then hit the Anime Legends brick after. Or I could be completely wrong and the Remix singles are selling too poorly to warrent a box with the last volume. In that case, I'd expect a brick around Christmas time either this year or next.

Wasn't there a limited box set released at one point? I don't know if I'm thinking Bebop or another series.

Well, I figure I'll just be patient and wait for a box, and if nothing else, if I wait a long time and there's still no box and I lose patience, I can always just buy the barebones. ^^

The last DVD comes out in June and the price is $30 so no box and I don't see another entry for V.6 for $40 which is the standard price of DVD with box. If they are planning to release the last volume with the box they are late in announcing it. I don't see them releasing a box for the Remix with the last volume. And Bebop did have limited box set release. It came with a CD soundtrack.

You win-win by waiting for the box. Suppose the box never comes out. By 1 or 2 year's time after the final volume, the dvds will be dirt cheap. Win-win.
I might hold off on buying Remix vols 4-6 for a bit, as I 've seen the series a few times.

Oh, hell with the box. I decide to buy Remix all vols. that I found each vol in Best Buy cost each $19.

That works with a lot of things, but Bebop DVDs never seem to go down in price. And when they do, stores sell out of them REAL fast.

That too seems like it'd be true, I just forgot to mention it.

Maybe, but maybe one would have better luck online. And even if they're out of stock, you can just wait for more. It's not like they're going out of print. ;)

Interesting. I happened to be browsing Paul Champagne's site, and noticed that Bandai had asked him to stop selling Bebop boxes.. If that means Bebop's getting a box, sweet. If not, Bandai is even stupider than I thought in the Gundam thread.

If I'm not mistaken, they asked Paul to do that before Remix even came into existence.

The box, set, and price are unpredictable. Everyone likes to add their two cents so what are mine worth, but honestly, what I would do if I were watching my dollar and wanting this is this. Determine a pricepoint I'm willing to pay, a time frame I'm willing to wait, and watch for deals. Don't get too greedy, should it show up in a Weekly Deal or mispricing at some other site or during summer sales or what not and be in line with the price with no box yet announced, snatch it up. It may or may not come down later. As for the time frame, that's there so that if it should never fall under that hopeful price even with you watching bargain boards like a hawk, you need to reevaluate your price stand point. Maybe increase it $20 or something like that, should you deem it something you need to have sooner or later. And, of course, watch auction sites too and see what happens to the going rates for the authentic DVDs. With titles like this, deals are probably your better bet, but for most anime out there, the going rate drops on auction sites a lot faster than retail. Just be patient and smart.

Drats. Had a feeling that's what happened. So Bandai asking Paul to stop is basically old news. Still, doesn't Bandai owe it to the legion of Bebop fans to release a nice artbox for Remix? Sad thing is, Bandai probably doesn't care, as long as people are buying Remix.
Add: I'm curious, I wasn't around when the Perfect Collection was released. Did Bandai release Bebop DVDs and then after the run of Bebop DVDs, release the boxset? If so, it is possible Bandai will do it again with Remix.

Yes, Bandai did a limited edition boxset which had a print of 10,000 after they had initially released the single volumes.

They used to fetch quite a bit on Ebay due to high demand.

About a year ago, I was looking at that out-of-print boxset on eBay and exactly what Char said happened according to some of the sellers of the (legit) (not bootleg) boxset. From what I read, they released a box set with the DVDs and the CD soundtrack and also released an empty box for those who collected the single DVDs. I don't know about the empty box thing for Remix, but I actually think they have a LE box xet under wraps until they feel like letting the fans know.

Are there any other Paul Champagne *like* sites? Sadly, his anime selection is rather limited, though all great designs.

I don't know about other sites like his, but all you've gotta do is email him, and he'll send you a list of titles that have boxes for them. It's a lot more than what's listed on his page. If you find any you might be interested in, ask to see some pics. He seems to be really nice and cooperative. In fact, not too long ago I had him make me a box for my Cowboy Bebop DVDs. It's really pretty. ^_^

Well too bad for them. He makes the boxes on his own time and stuff, so they have no say if he wants to do them or not. I haven't bought any boxes from Paul before because they are just too pricey for my taste, but if he does a box for Mai-Hime, I will definitely buy it. Probably his CB box as well.

Uh, you do realize what he is doing is illegal and they DO have a say in whether or not he does them or not. He is selling bootleg merchandise. Now is it along the same lines as other bootleg merchandise? Of course not. It shouldn't even be mentioned in the same breath really, since buying a box tends to mean you are supporting the series by buying all of the DVDs, and in the end he is only helping the company sell additional editions by getting people to "commit" to the series with a box. And sure, when it comes down to it unless he is selling boxes for series that already have boxes then he isn't competing directly with the company for sales. However he is certainly using images which are copyrighted to make the boxes and he does not have the license to distribute them for sale as well.

In terms of morality it isn't that bad. But in the end what he is doing is illegal and he should (and did) comply with whatever Bandai asked him to do.

^Neither of the above. As was stated, they just finished the Remix singles. They aren't going to even consider putting out a collection until they've bled those dry. And they might not even do it then, as Bebop sells unbelievably well as singles, and seems to keep getting new mixes and arrangements. Wonder if we'll get a "Best Sessions Remix" next. ^_^

BTW, no company will ever tell you they're going to put out a cheap collection of any series while the singles are being released. They won't tell you they're considering it or planning it until the set is solicited to retailers. Why? Because they want people to buy the singles, and them saying, "Yeah, we're releasing a box set in the near future/on this date/ever," keeps people from doing that. So it's a pointless question to ask, not just for Bebop, but for any series.
