Just saw Genshiken, and all i can say is that I lolled

Ha ha, I LOVED this anime. It was like watching my life, but its animated! I loved that 2-D complex bit, it was priceless. The best part of the whole anime though, was just after Sassahara's sister came to see him and Kohsaka showed her that wall scroll of the fighting game character he likes, and Kohsaka is in his room with Kasukabe. So Kohsaka is playing away, and then Kasukabe asks him, "Are you doing anything tonight?" He replies, "Nope, not tonight" So then Kohsaka exclaims "Yayyy!" and jumps on him and pins him down in an exotic manner, then he rolls over on top of her and pins her down. She looks up and over his shoulder, and....The wall scroll is hung on the cieling above them

I thought this was the most hilarious anime I have seen so far, but maybe its just that I can relate so well to the material. What do you guys think, was Genshiken a great anime, or was it the greatest anime?

Best Madarame moment was when he was elaborating how it was "right" to be aroused by anime characters (like Mii-chan) to Saki. And to make things even better, he yells at her "You don't just strip her, you SCREW her!!!" with that crazy gleam in his eyes. I loved Sakis reaction to that, too, with her face cracking like that.

I got into Genshiken a while back, and I gotta say it kicks ***. I'm now on the third volume of it and I'll probrably watch it again tonight. Good stuff.

Yeah, Genshiken is awesome. It was especially funny when the newcomer got "curious" (see pic below) with the figurines and then the locker with the doujinshi in it. Then he was caught looking as part of the initiation.

Madarame is my favorite character, the best episode with him has to be when he was in the club room alone with Kasakube. Ohno though is my prefered female character due to her hobby of cosplaying, dark hair, and large mammaries... :naughty:

That was so funny, she was so freaked out, I read that in the manga and I was cracking up over it. In the manga Saki's all like "you freak!!!".

Yea I wish they would make Kujibiki Unbalance into an actual series to. lol I was really wanting to see what happened. =( And Genshiken was awesome. I could relate to some of the stuff...lol Cant wait for season 2!

this thread is slightly old but i had just recently gotten a chance to see this series, and wow was it awesome! can someone in the know tell me more about its continuation? like, where in the manga did the the first season leave off? and will the forthcoming series really be about genshiken, or will it be about the embedded anime? i'd like to see more!

and i think that season 1 covers the first 3 and a half volumes of manga. the second half of the 4th volume is not seen in the anime.

and if you liked the anime, i definitely recommend picking up the rest of the manga. vols 4 5 and 6 are great so far. I think only 7 and 8 to go!

on a side note, i think the storytelling in genshiken is very strong, and if you think about it puts to shame a lot of the more popular stuff out there today. the characters all develope, they move on, and no plot or humor falls into cliche. stuff like this needs to have red carpet treatment instead of a mini 12-episode season. anyway, i may be late to the this party (as always) but this series was an unexpected treasure.

I thought Genshiken was hysterical from what I've seen. I actually still need to see the last few episodes. I found it fun because the characters remind me of real life people.

AFAIK there wasn't a second season, instead they made Kujibiki Unbalance, which was the anime that they were watching in Genshiken and the rumor of the second season ended up being a TV series of Kujibiki Unbalance (slated for oct 2006). It's really too bad since the series ended in a manner that feels as if there's going to be a sequel.

Genshiken made me laugh, think, cry, and laugh again. It also made me a fan of a anime that doesn't even exist! I'm waiting for more.
