Are you an anime addict? Have you ever tried to live few weeks without watching anime?
Well I am a huge anime addict and I tried to live few weeks without watching anime at all. The few first days were ok. After a week I found it wery temptating to watch an anime episode. Somehow I managed to keep my fingers out of keyboard by doing something else. But as the time passed I got a grater desire to watch anime. Finally after 2 weeks I was free to do whatever I wanted - to watch anime.
If you are an anime addict, I challenge you to live few weeks witout anime. You will have much more freetime and you can do "different" things. Tell about your experiences :D

I've gone weeks and months without watching anime. It didn't affect my life at all. I guess I must not be an addict. It's entertainment, not a lifestyle choice.
I also stopped watching TV years ago and never even noticed it. Now I watch one or two shows a week if I happen to remember them. I guess I'm not much of a TV addict either.

Life without anime would be just fine. We'd all find something else to fill our time with. I've spent very long periods of time without anime or manga. It's really not that hard.

Longest time w/o watching anime: 6 months
Longest time w/o watching TV: 1 1/2 months
Longest time w/o playing video games: 2 months
Longest time w/o driving somewhere: 1 day
The only things I'm "addicted" to are driving and cheesecake (can't get enough of both).

it's not all that hard, it's not like it's a physical addiction...
sometimes when there just arent any good shows out or when i am busy with the rest of my life (such things as school, friends, sports, sleeping, etc) i can go long periods of time not watching anime and i barely even realize it, i've easily gone weeks without it before big testing times or during the height of sports seasons

Well...I went without watching anime a few years ago (IIRC, the period of time was a few months). I didn't mind it, so I suppose I wasn't too addicted to anime at the time. However...that may not be the case now. -_-; (Nowadays, I find myself watching more anime than I did before...and it's rather funny how my anime collection's started to grow slightly larger over the past year.) Usually, I go in spurts where I watch and buy a lot of anime over a few months before easing down for a while. My philosophy with anime tends to be "everything in moderation," so I suppose I'm not too addicted to anime at the moment.
(If I were talking about manga, however, my answer for whether I'm addicted or not would be much more definite. -_-; )

I won't be taking part in this challenge. :P
Anime doesn't run my life. It's a huge part of it, but I have many other interests to hold me over as well. I try not to ever get lost in some kind of fantasy world. I'm diverse and could go on with my life without talking about anime. If fact I do most times. Most people don't even know that I'm an anime fan. I care not to talk about it with non fans and never bring it up to them. Diversity is great and far too many people in this world lack in that department.
I have no idea whats the longest I've gone without watching anime. To me it doesn't matter. I don't consider it an addiction or anything. It's just me being myself.

I wouldn't mind living without anime. If it weren't for fansubs, I wouldn't watch much anime anyways, like I used too, so it wouldn't affect me greatly. I'd probably just play more games like I used to before I started watching anime as my main hobby, or maybe I'd actually do something productive...

I'm already selective when it comes to watching anime, so it really doesn't make any difference. Way too many other things to do to worry about it.

I use to watch anime everyday but now I don't watch a lot. I try to keep up with some of my favorite shows though. The longest time w/o anime for me would probably around a month and a half starting the end of May.

I could live without it. It's not like a serious addiction. Sometimes I go through times where I don't watch anime for weeks. I like to have other fun things to do in life besides anime.

Anime I guess I could live without for awhile (I'd get bored a lot easier, but at least I'd have some money). Now, the internet on the other hand... not sure how long I could do without that. :O

I barely even watch anime anymore, hell, I think I've even gone a whole month without it. But while I can't call myself an anime addict, I'm still a forum addict, since I still frequently post at AN.

But I can use the non-anime time to catch up on my videogames ^_^ ...

Going a month or so without watching anime may be tough, but it is not the end of the world.
On the other hand, going years without watching anime can result in situations that will lead to severe depression.

exactly my thing, I atlease have to watch it once 'a week and that's when new Yu-Gi-Oh and Bleach episodes come on in Japan. Then on the weekend I watch it alot. Through the week I watch it alot too. The longest I went without watching was about 5 or 6 days.

Since I became a serious animefan, I don't think I've gone without anime for more than about two (perhaps three) weeks (Holidays or lack of interest in any series for some time). However it didn't really affect me that much, so I'm pretty sure I could do it again. However I don't really see any reason for it, so I won't take this challenge.

I used to be hooked into anime back from 1999 to 2003. I haven't been into it ever since. Once I found a better paying job, I was home less and less, and I started losing my grip with the latest releases ended up losing interest. Of course I still enjoy what I do have, I haven't totally left anime fandom, but I certainly don't feel the same about it as I did years ago. I still want to get a few anime series that I have always wanted to get, and I'm sure i'll get them soon enough.
On the other hand, I have always enjoyed playing video games ever since I was a little girl. I got into anime thanks to games, and I still like playing them to this day. The more retro stuff, especially RPG's and fighters.

I could, but Id be deeply bored, since I really dont have much else to do. (I dont play sports except for hockey; all other hobbies spawned from anime; etc etc) Though I have noticed I havent read many books except Harry Potter and manga since I began my anime craze years ago. I might be a die-hard bookworm if I didnt love anime, and would never pursue that awesomely fun and high-paying occupation (net admin related) Im aiming for (seriously).

I can go without anime easily. The only thing I watch religiously on tv is sports (which is a religion, our priest never lets mass overlap the game). I don't need VG, though they are useful for killing time. Really the only thing i need is my bike.

Sometimes I test myself and watch how long can I be without watching anime, usually ones a year. I already tried myself this year and I was over 4 months watching any anime. Last year it was almost the same.
I watched Fullmetal Alchemist movie on second february and last monday I watched it again. So this was the movie, which broke the "animebreak", but I think that I could survived more.

I've taken large breaks to fullfil other interests, and sometimes I'm just to busy to do all the research I would useually do to find anime worth watching. One thing I can't help noticing is that I spend more time dreaming about how much anime I want to watch then the time I actually spend watching it. Kind of odd but its something I've done a lot of in the past.
Also, most people see anime as something they eventually grow out of. I truely hope I don't. Like many interest I take extended breaks, but I always seem to come back.

It's not like anime is unhealthy so what does it matter if you stop watching it for two weeks or not? I used to tell myself with cigarettes "ok, go a week without one", but that makes more sense considering the differences between an unhealthy chemical addiction and an awesome form of entertainment. I say watch as much anime as you like, while keeping a social life of your own.
