I've seen sites taking preorders for a special edition of Eureka Seven volume 3 that seems to come with a box, manga and t-shirt. Anyone have details as to the contents of this special edition? Is the box to hold the second half of the series maybe?

I think the box it come's with is just to hold the dvd , shirt ,and manga in one package and not a artbox.
My first thoughts was marketing ploy but' it's not really to bad of deal the more I think about it.

My guess is that the second box would have the same design as the first one. When you compare both boxes, the one with vol. 3 does not look like that. It just looks like a regular box which would hold the dvd, shirt, and the manga in it.

Yeah that makes a lot more sense. Amazon has it listed as a "boxset" so it had me wondering, given the size of the series. I'll probably be picking up the special edition because Vol. 1 of the manga was pretty good and I'd probably be buying volume 2 anyway. Plus the T-Shirt is pretty cool.

i believe the box here is to hold the manga.... cant remember where i heard that, but it definitely seems a likely option

I thought E7 was 52 episodes.
Either way, that episode distribution doesn't work. If it's 50 episodes, only volumes 1 and 2 will have 5 episodes and if its 52 episodes, 1-4 will have 5 episodes.

Just got my copy of Eureka 7 Vol. 3(Special Edition)
the box is a nice shiny silver with the usual box art on the side
the box itself is the kind that most art boxes r, u know a box with the back not there so you can slide ur DVDs in and out
have to confess im i have both boxes(Vol.1 and Vol.3) and dont know wihich one ill use. i am think Vol.3 box for DVDs and vol 1 for mangas

NG, it doesnt matter. You'll need to use both boxes because it's a 50 episode series and obviously some of the DVD's will only have 4 episodes(vol 3 for example). You're not going to have room for anything but all 12(probably 12) DVD's

but iv got feeling vol. 5 or 6 will have manga 3 in it, which means another box

I doubt that, very much. I'm sure they'll release a new art box later on to house the rest of the series in.

You think so? If they did that the DVD count would have to be even larger than 12 though(maybe 15 or so?) and then they probably WOULD have space for the manga left over. I just don't see it happening. I really hope it doesn't too it would be awkward and dumb to have a box contain both the DVD's and the manga.

The box with volume 3 is for the manga from everything I've heard so far. The second DVD box should come with vol.7 , the second CD , maybe another manga , and a big maybe another T shirt.
Its only going to be twelve DVD volumes and I think the manga is 6 volumes . Right now I'm useing the box that came with the third volume to hold the two mangas and the two T-shirts.
This is more or less IMO Bandai's way of getting those that are watching on Adult Swim and collecting the DVD's to keep up with the DVD's as they are coming out.

Who says you have to use it? I don't intend to use mine. It's not even your typical box set, and housing DVDs in a box with a end-cap is just dumb. I'm sure they will release another box set later on, after all, with 12 DVDs at least one or two more have to be 'limited editions'.

When my volume 3 box set gets here I'll take pictures and post them, but I'm %99 that the first limited edition box that came with the first volume is not intended for DVDs.
Gasaraki
September 6th, 2006, 07:19 PM
I think the manga was only 4 volumes though, in which case the box would be too big. And besides the box is already prefect dimensions for 6 DVDs
max|mus
September 6th, 2006, 07:28 PM
It probably does, but I've never seen a box set that has a cap on it... and if it is suppose to be I'm not sure I like that... What's the point of hiding your DVD collection in a box? I like the open-ended ones which you can actually see your collection.
If there are going to be 12 DVDs for the series I'm willing to bet we havn't seen the last of the limited edition boxes. At least I hope not.

If there ARE 12 then I say these boxes are it, it already totals 12 anyway. Also I actually much prefer the way the boxes are made. The art on the boxes is great enough to where I don't really need to see the DVDs
Psychopuppet

Actually there will be six manga volumes.
Bandai will eventually publish six volumes of Eureka Seven manga -- four volumes that adapt the Eureka Seven anime series, and a two-volume adaptation of the Eureka Seven videogame prequel story.
I got that from here http://www.icv2.com/articles/news/8083.html
I Emailed Bandai a bit ago asking about if there will be another artbox like the first one for the rest of the DVD's or if the one with volume 3 is the second one.

The reason I'm thinking it's not is because of this:
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k196/nathanf01/HPIM0006a.jpg
(Taken from the DVD collection thread)
If you look you'll see the Eureka Seven box set (bottom left) which I assume (because it hasn't arrived at my house yet) is the 3rd Vol. Limited Edition box set. If that is the case then the 1st Vol. Limited Edition box set isn't the DVD case but rather used either for the manga OR just to hold all the crap inside it. :naughty:
If it is then there should be another box set on the way sometime in the future. If not, well, I'll be disapointed.

Ok I got my response to my email I sent Bandai.
Thank you for your inquiry.
Eureka Seven Vol. 3 SE was not meant to house the rest of the volumes.
It was a box created to fit Eureka Seven Manga Vol. 2 as well as the
T-shirt that comes with it.
We are planning to release a second artbox next year, however we have
not yet announced which volume it will be.

Well I just recieved the Vol. 3 (SE) today and it is as I thought it would be:
http://img236.imageshack.us/img236/637/pict0001qd8.th.jpg (http://img236.imageshack.us/my.php?image=pict0001qd8.jpg)
It easily holds 6 DVDs. So since Bandai themselves said they are planning on releasing another art box I can only imagine it would be a 2nd case to hold the rest of the E7 DVDs.
Perhaps they meant to say the first art box is for the manga? That would make more sense to me.

Is the manga the manga for the whole series or the volumes that most correlate with the tv episodes it ships with? I'd buy (as opposed to just renting) WWWWAAAAAAYYYYYYYY more anime if it came with a manga in each volume.

It will be for the whole series. Right now they are just releasing them (it seems) by what's covered on the episodes of the DVD it comes with. Which leads me to another question..
I havn't read all the manga yet but the E7 manga was written/drawn after the anime right? Because there are some scenes in the manga that aren't in the anime. I was just wondering which came first.

The anime is the original story and the manga is a condensed retelling of the anime. I read the first volume and didn't care to read any more.

well it seems the manga ran before the anime but since the manga is based off the anime i think they are suppose to go hand in hand. like explain some of the things the anime didnt go into all that much. but with only one more box to be released and 2 more books to be released out of 5 well 1 bc of the box yet to be released, then i doubt we see anymore dvd/manga/shirt combo but maybe we will. i really hope so too. ^_^
just wondering if anyone had a pic of the shirt?

Black t-shirt with
on the front : a white 'pencil sketch' of eureka's head with the eureka 7 symbol below aty the bottom right
on the back : a white pencil sketch of the pink haired girl's head (sorry forgot her name) on the bottom right with NO eureka symbol below
i really prefer the one that came with vol 1

Actually there is 6 manga all together with the two based on the video game it looks like Bandai will be releasing a manga with every other volume like the the next one looks to come with the SE version of volume 5 . Remember the series is going to be 12 disc long so thats plenty of volumes to make enough special editions to put the manga in.

but what is the video game about i doubt it is a continuation of the story, it would most likely be a mecha/action title. well from the sound of it the shirt really doesnt sound so great as the first.

Its a prequel to the series at least the first one is the second one I'm not sure about but' I think the two manga are about the first game . I'm not even 100% they will include the video game manga with Eureka 7 DVD's but' the way it looks now they are putting the manga in every other volume and making it a special edition volume . Its really to soon to tell what Bandai is going to do in the future. I know right now volume 5 has a special edition version and a regular edition sceduled for release.
There is 4 manga that go with the series and two manga for the video game which is coming out later this year.
My guess is Bandai will keep giving us special editions every other volume I'm hoping at least one comes with something like a figure or something but' thats wishful thinking on my part.

No kidding, I pretty much just stuff them in the back of my dresser drawer. Way too big, I like to where size small shirts or medium at most. I tried shrinking the brown one (which looks the best) but I couldn't get it to shrink... hehe.

It's not an extra box, it's THE box. The first one is for.. it's for.. I don't know. Though I admit the box art isn't anything spectacular to look at. Probably have to wait till they release all the DVDs then come at us with a new box set design or a thin-pack.

The box with volume one is for the DVD's according to Bandai and I did actually call to make sure of that. The second box for the DVD's should be similar in design to it with a lift up top I'm hoping it has the villains of the show on it this time . These extra boxes are just to pretty much hold the manga and T-shirt together with the DVD's while in the store as if they were just shrink wrapped to it they could come lose or be stolen quite easy.
I redirect you to my previous post with the email I got from Bandai CS.

I really really hope not. I hate those damned lift up top boxes. Whoever thought it would be cool needs to be shot. Seriously, what's the point in dropping $300 on a collection only to not be able to see the DVDs but some cheesy art on a cardboard box?
Maybe if the box art was GOOD it wouldn't be so much of a problem.
