Announced at the Steel OG Festival (post shamelessly swiped from 4chan's /m/): Super Robot Wars Original Generation: The TV series Officially announced at the Steel OG Festival, with details via Moonphase:
Super Robot Wars Original Generation - Fall 2006 Director: Hiroyuki Kakudou CG advisor/special director: Ichiro Itano Series composition: Takanobu Terada Animation: OLM Their miscellaneous notes site says the story will mainly follow the SRX team with Ryusei as the protagonist.
This is good news of the sort that blows all the other great news this year out of the water.
With someone like Ichiro Itano (of Macross fame) at the helm, I think it's safe to say that at the very least the missiles will look good.

I look forward to it, the mecha designs are killer. A sequel to the OVA?

The only thing that seems to fully express how I feel about this is "SQUEEEEEEEEEEE!"

Yay. More SRW is always good (and besides, with Atlus licensing everything, who knows, maybe this will be licensed...).

No, it apparently will start from the beginning, so it's more of a prequel.

Doubtless Spirits of Steel will handle the subbing, which is a good thing. It's always nice to know that the emphasis is on the first syllable of fansubber.

So, the first episode of the TV series apparently aired yesterday (or maybe the day before,) in Japan.
It's already very different from the OG games.

Most notable differences being the appearance of Cobray Gordon and Euzeth Judecca Gozzo, and not just one Astranagun, but two.
Also, Tenzan actually showed up for the Burning PT tournament. Like that matters... :naughty:

The first episode really impressed me.
I didn't get all of it having only a little prior experience with the franchise (played one of the games and not entirely, watched the OAV) but it was still cool

Then when you get good enough at Japanese you can translate robot anime for Prons!

Not really. It's already deviating from OG's story (Tenzan showing up for the Burning PT final,) and has shown major characters and mecha from Alpha and Alpha 3 (some of whom haven't been in OG at all.)

More of a slight retelling of the OG games so far.

This isn't a bad thing at all. They're actually including stuff from SRX's full story (Shin SRW and the Alpha series,) that wasn't in OG for no apparent reason.
