Say did anybody here seen or heard of a family restaurant and even called Medival Times Dinner and Tournment? If you do, I have 2 questions to ask
1. What is it about?
2. Does it have wheelchair access? & Why?

I've never heard of one by that name, but there are all sorts of similar things I've seen across the country. To answer your questions regarding those:
1) It's like live-action dinner theater. You eat in tables surrounding a jousting arena, and at some point during the evening, they have a show involving fully armored knights jousting and battling with sword & shield, lances, horses, etc. It's as fake as Pro Wrestling, but it's fun to watch. The menu usually reflects the fake-medieval theme.
2) Usually, and it's because they're required to have access by federal law, if I'm not mistaken. :)
Is it hokey? Yes. Does it perpetuate countless false stereotypes in popular culture about what the middle ages were like? Absolutely. But they generally serve cold mead in large mugs, and after that, none of the rest matters much.

It is about mediocre food and people with poor acting skills performing and jousting. All the ones I have been too are handicapped accessable.

Medieval Times rules. Just another reason that jousting needs to get more popular. Acting skills of these people is about your average Ren Faire, but hey, its freaking JOUSTING and thats cool enough for me.

I'm going to a sweet 16 there next week, can't wait.
It's all about fun (as much as you can have), not accuracy/history.

At 50 bucks a pop, don't forget that. MT lost it's lustre the 3rd or 4th time I went, or rather was obliged to go. It is something best done once or twice IMO.

Yep definitely, especially when you can go to a ren fair, which will have larpers...ah, larpers, interesting to study & observer when they are in their natural habitat.

The serving wenches at the Renfest also wear chainmail bra's and nothing else. :naughty:

Ah I remember that they used to have commercials for it after American Gladiators. Laugh at me all you want, but I had to wait until three o'clock before my friends from the block woke up to play ball, I had to kill time somehow.

This is like the time we tried to have a dinner theater re-inactment of "Mobile Suit Gundam 0080"

I always loved going to Medieval Times. it was rather entertaining. I've seen different variations on similar themes. Here in Switzerland the Bern Museum of Natural History hired a Jousting troop for a festival. The Theme they used was a fairy Tale-like story depicting how the City of Bern got its name.
At Europa Park in Germany, they had a Gladiator show that was very similar and was rather entertaining too. had some rather neat looking props too. Only difference between these two shows and MT is at MT you get food while you watch.

I was to this thing once. Awesome. I also went to a very similar reenactment of life in the American hicksland that is owned by Dolly Parton. As a pre-show appetizer, they had a guy who holds numerous world records in juggling. He ALMOST inspired me.

I can't help but remember that scene in "the cable guy" with Jim Carrey where he goes crazy in such a place.

I went to the one in Schaumburg, Illinois. It's good to go once. It's great if you want to take your kids. Better for adults if you get drunk. Each seating section has a knight to cheer for... fortunately for me my g/f at the time was the "fair maiden" he was fighting for. Typical meal at the time was cornish hen, some sort of vegetable, some bread, and mead... which was served in a small glass. If you're in my area, you're better off going to the Renaissance Fair just over the Wisconsin border north on 94. Much better time there.

WHAT?!?! BLASPHEMY!
In Colorado, the RenFaire runs through most of summer just south of Colorado Springs. They've got mead in big mugs, and... truth be told, I don't remember what else they had after that. I'm sure it was nice.

Been to one in New Jersey. Brought my own Robin Hood hat and got to bow to the Queen. The picture shows she might have considered giving me a tumble, since I complemented her on her ankles.

I live in Florida, yet I have never been to the actual show. Inside the castle, yes. For the show, no.

whoa I just realized something. This thread was started by teknoman and it has nothing to do with a reality tv show. well, he was consistent in asking "and why?" at the end.

Dude, when I lived in Illinois I went there a lot for birthdays, etc. It's pretty cool. You sit in sort of an arena like area (the arena's in the center, there are long tables which kind of circle it) and you watch "knights" fighting each other. Dinner is served along with it. (Medieval type stuff, it's been a long time but I remember they had something called "Dragon Soup"). They do other stuff, like tricks with horses, but the knights fighting is the main event.
Unfortunately it's been quite a long time since I've been there, so I can't remember if it has wheelchair access or not. Offhand I would say yes, but I can't be sure.

There's one near where I live. I haven't been there so I'm not sure about wheelchair access. It might be something specific to the Maryland area because jousting is the state sport.

I don't know of any places like that near me. I have seen jousting at the Michigan Ren Fest, which is pretty cool :) They serve cheese and broccoli soup in a bread bowl and turkey legs.

You know, I heard that Flavor Flav invited Hoopz and her mother to the Medieval Times Dinner and Tournment then one of the staff members said to Flav "Can you come with me, the king wanted to knight you." When you guys were there did you guys get knighted by the king? & Why?

The Arabian Knights one in Florida isn't bad. The funniest actor is the genie though. That guy was hilarious.
It doesn't beat a body shampoo, but it will get you a picture token for the journal or scrapbook.

I went during the 5th grade graduation trip. They had some wicked drink that tasted good. I dunno if they have it any more. It's pretty fun and I'm pretty sure it's better/different today.
