If you are a writer or reader of fanfic we have a great con for you! Come join us at Vidcon, Tampa, FL July 21-23 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Sabal Park.

Vidcon features writers panels for those interested in learning more about their favorite hobby. We also have trivia contests, show specific panels, two dinners included in the price, games and song vids.

You can talk about gen, het, slash, yaoi/yuri or anything else!

Since this is our first try at adding anime to our electic mix, you can also help schedule the programming! Join us at vidcon@yahoogroups.com and tell us what you would like to see as far as AMV and show panels.

Vidcon is small so we don't have a 24 hour video room or cosplay. We do have lots of interesting people to talk to and a wonderful con suite. There is a welcome party where you can come as your favorite character / show.

Well, it is a nice offer, but Florida is a little too far for me....>_<.

You should feature a contest for fanfiction writers, maybe that would draw more people to your con. I know I am always looking for good contests!

A contest for what? Best fiction? That would be very hard to pick. Best essay on why you like anime? We are always open to suggestions.

If you had a dunking booth for OOC fanfic authors, I'd definitely attend and spend a lot of money for baseballs to throw. :)

How about having a writing workshop for budding authors? Maybe run down through the Top Ten Mistakes of fanfic authors and how to avoid them? Will you have any published authors who are also fanfic writers in attendance? It should be no problem to hold a short workshop, I'd think.

Humm, I kind of like the dunk tank! $5 for charity. Of course, the problem is that OOC writers don't know they are OOC writers, which would make finding one tricky.

We have done writers' workshops. We have one fan turned pro (television scripts) and 5-6 award winning fan writers. The only thing is that a real writers' workshop with 10 writers takes about 4 hours and tends to scare off the new fan writers.

We've also done, both at Vidcon and Necro, the Seven Deadly Sins of Fanfic. It was a hoot!

Here are a few of the ideas being kicked around as far as writing panels for this year at Vidcon. Things will get added as we get closer. Some of the panels run two hours, Basics and the Q&A,

Basics in Fan Writing
Dialog Workshop
Description Workshop
Music to Write To
Building a Scene into a Story (ecellent panel for new writers)
Road Less Traveled - writing the "other" slash / yaoi pairing
Point of View - what it is and how to use it
Open Q&A for writers with the pro and award winners

Wonder if we could vote someone into the tank?

Don't miss a chance to talk to anime fanfic writers and other fanfic writers at a small con with lots of great panels and tons of good food.
