I can't believe it... it looks like someone has re-done Kanon and is going to be airing it in Japan this fall... I just saw a promo spot for it... it has to be one of my favorite all time favorite sim-based anime...

Perhaps this one will get a domestic release on dvd!! :) the graphics look awesome...

Now my question is, does anyone know if this is just a rerendering of the original or is this going to be a new story?

Everything from the promo seemed to be new material... except for the sound track...

I wonder what'll be different this time around...

Other than the 24 episodes dunno, hopefully they're have better character development and better conclusions for each characters than the original.

Guess I'm gonna start downloading anime again soon (Well there's also Higurashi no Naku Koro ni which comes out in April)

[EDIT] Yay They got rid of those ugly *** huge eyes

According to ANN, it's a remake. It's going to be made by the same studio and a similar staff that made Air TV. I think it'll be good and looking forward to it.

I definitely am looking forward to this. After seeing AIR, the orginal anime for Kanon seemed sub-par in comparison. The storyline had been chopped up a bit from the original game, and overall the music was somewhat rearranged. This new animation will likely be a retelling of the same story, and it will likely (which is already obvious from the trailer) be equal to Air in the quality of story, animation, and music, I am sure. It will, as already stated, be made by the same studio that made AIR and it will broadcast on the same satellite channel.

On a side note, I am suprised that no one has mentioned the anime movie being made for the other Key title, Clannad. That's also a very nice bit of news.

I don't remember much of Kanon, but I sure remember Air TV. I'm looking forward to this mainly because I fell in love with the animation in Air.

I haven't seen Kanon yet, but this news makes me happy. I liked what I saw of AIR and I've heard good things about Kanon.

There are 24 episodes this time?

Well, hopefully in this version they'll use more music from the game. I really enjoyed the anime series, but it differed from Air (and was kept from reaching its full potential) in that it was a different experience than the game. It was the same characters, same story... but a somewhat different atmosphere. One of the reasons I liked Air so much was that it was kind of like watching the game play out- similar art style, the same great music, etc.

If Kanon has the same thing this run then it will be a great show to watch.

I wonder how they're gonna go about doubling the length of the series.

Probably by covering more stuff from the game that the first series left out and by pacing in slower and giving things more time to develop.

Why remake an anime after only 4 years? Kanon was an amazing show, much better than that borefest AIR, which I loved up until episode 7, then I was slowly making my way through each episode from that point on, begging for all the weird crap to end and for it to go back to the way it was. It never did. =|

I'll definitely watch it because I loved Kanon, but I still don't see the need to make it in the first place. If they change the ending though I'm not going to be happy. Ayu was the girl I was rooting for, so to speak.

Speaking of the game, does anyone know if its been translated and made available to the US through something like Peach Princess?

that's exactly how i feel, although i know the reason why they're making it, it's quite simple actually to make money

and changing from ayu to any other girl would instantly ruin the series in a lot of people's eyes if you ask me, it would take apart the story, what with the childhood connections and crap that span the whole show

Well I just watched the 1st episode of the redone show today, and I must say, I'm very happy with what I've seen so far... things seemed to be clearer this time around... such as the relationship w/ Ayu, and it was nice to see that they stuck in a reference to the foxes on the hill, before just making our "foxy" friend appear from out of no where for no apparent reason...
