This one is not finished--it's a rough sketch. Kinda stuck on the sword--I hate it. I was just brainstormin'--it looks, rather, embarrassing. *blushin'*
I'd like to do my own manga (one day) and she's one of the characters--I'm still workin' out different styles of her, still in my head floatin' around. I always start off with realism and work my way into anime-ism. I'm just weird that way. :P
Anyway, here it is: (hope the pix aren't too big--if so, I'm sorry) ^_^
Jaki - Fallen Angel (http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y299/IgnisFerus/Jaki.jpg)
The other pic is of Kyuzo from Samurai 7, which I am watchin' and enjoyin'. It's a realistic kinda pic of him. He's just one of my fav characters in the series. ;)

I'm sorry babe, but that Jaki is way too sick for me. That design just creeps me out! I like light hearted stuff.

They both have a great feel to them... I really should be drawing more, not sitting on the computer playing games and doing nothing. My stuff is low grade compared to this :S

It creeps ya out? That's good in a way--it's scary--that's what I was goin' for. :naughty:
I also like light hearted stuff--I'm workin' on this (it's not finished)

Thank you--it was a quick sketch--I was just tryin' to imagine what he might look like if he wasn't anime. I plan to do the same for the other six samurai and Kiara as well. I'll post 'em when I'm done.
I also did a Dilandau one from Escaflowne: (rough sketch)

Thanks for taking the time to visit my DA site and your vote of confidence !
How long have you been drawing for and how do you go about doing it ? do you use references... all out of your head ? done any courses?

Wow these are really nice... I'm jealous! *takes a pencil and starts drawing*
But seriously you have talent. Are you planning studying in something like this (animation, comics) in the future, or are you studying it already?

I've been drawin' since I was 10-11 years old--I'm 35 now, so that's about 25 years of practice, although I don't draw everyday, so technically a li'l less than 25 years. ^_^
I'm self-taught--have never taken any courses, but I'm thinking of doin' a home study course in art soon.
How do I go about doin' it, ya ask? Well, I get an idea and I sit at my drafting table and sketch 'til I'm happy with the results. Most times it takes a few sketches until I'm satisfied. I'm constantly makin' changes.
Mostly I draw what's in my head--but if I'm stuck on how somethin' should be drawn I'll get a reference to help. The references I use: myself and a mirror or a SF/Fantasy art book I bought a couple years back (Brom's Darkwerks). The internet is a wealth of information for references, too.
I'm glad ya like my drawin's. :)
I hope you keep drawin', too, 'cause you'll get even better as time passes. A lot of practice goes a long way in this field.
Have you taken any courses, or plan to?

Yes, I'm checkin' out a home study course at the moment--I want to draw professionally. I've always wanted to but never pursued it--lacked confidence. I'm my worse critic. It has to be home studies 'cause I work full time, can't afford to go back to school full time.
I would love to create my own manga, that eventually goes to animation--that would be an absolute dream come true. :) I've been brainstormin' on stories and characters for a few years now. I need the proper training/guidance to get the ball rollin'.
I appreciate your interest in my sketches. Thank you! :)

Animus,
that's cool, I guess that is true, I've been drawing since I was about 11. But not seriously until i was 17 then did it fairly serious for a few months, then stopped and started an stopped and started :( And about 6 months or so ago, I decided I wanna make this either a serious hobby, or turn it into something more than just a hobby, so I haven't really stopped drawing since then, I do at least 1-2 sketches a week if I can.
I have not taken any classes yet, but am thinking of doing a course soon :) and then going to Uni or something afterwards to advance it further...

It's been a bit since I've been on AN, but I've been workin' on another pic--my first digital paintin'. It's done with pastels. I realize it's not that great but I'm learnin'.
The drawin' is not a copy--my idea.

Thank you! It took a few tries to get it right--I find pastels the most agreeable to work with. I don't know how to paint at all, so I really went out on a limb with this pic. I also had to use the mouse instead of a tablet--again, not easy colourin' with a damn mouse.
Hopefully, next time I do better.
Thanks for your comment! ^_^

I'm workin' on colourin' more--I'm not that good--just learnin' to use the digital stuff, and I only have a mouse, no tablet.
Yes, all the pix, that I've posted up to now, are my originals--even the Kyuuzo and Dilandau one--the poses are not copies from anywhere.
I've done a DBZ pic of Trunks--haven't finished colourin' it (used colour pencils). This pic is from somethin' off the internet but I changed the face 'cause I thought in the original he looked kinda squashed. I don't have the original on me (have to dig it up) if ya wanna compare the two pix. When I find it I'll post it.
I don't normally like to copy other people's work, and if I do I'll give 'em credit for it, if I know who did the work, or just let on that it's a copy from someone else's idea--like this DBZ pic, for instance.
Meanwhile . . . here's my renderin' (copy) of Trunks. (not finished)

While I'm at it . . . here's a Ninja Oekaki I did with my mouse. It was just for fun, and yes, it kinda sucks. But I'm proud how it turned out despite usin' the blasted mouse. I had such a cramp in my hand afterwards. :eww:
Oh, by the way! Happy Easter to everyone!

Thanks--glad ya like my drawin's. The Kyuzo pic is my fav, too. It was a quick renderin'--I didn't put a lot of time into.
I plan to draw a full body shot of him and do realism sketches of the other characters in Samurai 7. Been busy haven't gotten around to it, though, but I have some ideas floatin' around in my head.
I'll post more pix when they are done. ^_^

Hey thanx! Too bad it's not clear though. I'll try scannin' it again, but for now I can't--somethin's wrong with my printer, scanner and speakers. Not sure what's goin' on. My computer has a mind of it's own. Bad computer--BAD! >_<

35? ! ? whoa ! i gotta say that i m curious as to how you look *blushing* anyway your art works are very artistic an pretty much flawless *man do i have a long way to go* i have to comment on the image entitled "weird dude" ... the sparcle from his glasses doesn't seem natural because you made it look swort of like a solid object or something .. the outer lines should have been softly drew, so that you can't see them ... the overall picture i like the most although i don't see the pleasure in drawing such a repulsive character - but that s probably just me^^' .. and i know you made the hair like that on purpouse
yeah, your talent kicks serious behind *i can't swear .. sigh* and you say that it's your dream to be a manga artist - mine too^^ - so, for what it s worth coming from me , never let it sleep away! i'm keeping my fists tight for you<-- it s an expression in my country, it meens i wish you luck :)
oh .. sorry i didn't see the last two pages .. man that skate is done all wrong but i like the naruto picture on it .. and i don't want to get all technical on you but it looks as though she s flying (O_o) it's not possible on a skate to jump so high and far .. not if i can help it muahahahaha .. and and you can't add kakashi's mouth which is clearly visible ... and your trunks is the best i've seen from any fan but changing him makes him look swort of evil .. dbz's crappy character editing is done that way for a reason and it wouldn't look better any other way i think ..

I'm young still--everyone thinks I'm 22. It runs in the family--we all look way younger than our actual age. My son is taller than me and he's only 13.
Anyway, thanx for the critique--much appreciated! ^_^
The weird dude was done years ago, I was 17, and now I can see there are a lot of things I could have done differently. I enjoy drawin' repulsive characters--it's fun!
Good luck to you, too with your manga endeavours! ^_^
As for the Kakashi pic--I realize it's kinda hard to see and I'm regrettin' postin' it. His lips show 'cause he's puckerin' up (pushin' 'em against his mask) 'cause in his mind he's daydreamin' of kissin' his book--he's in love. Perhaps, I didn't draw it right. Oh well, I'm not perfect, and my drawing skills lack, too.
My words of wisdom (from an older person) to y'all young teens and adults--don't put your artistic interests on the back burner like I did--you will regret it.
I so wish I went to art school instead of takin' a break after graduating from high school--goofin' off, than bein' talked into takin' clerical and mental health courses.
Don't let anyone talk ya outta what ya wanna do! Never!
Best wishes to everyone in their artistic endeavours! ^_^

Yeah, but sometimes the biggest negative impact on an artist's determination is the money factor. Art colleges are WAY expensive.....almost exclusive to rich people. Unless you get MAJOR grants and scholorships, it's almost impossible for poor (and middle class....>_<) students to get in--and pay for it. I'm having that problem right now....
I'm currently in a regular college, trying to get into the College for Creative Studies (animation major). Way, way too expensive *sigh*.

I guess gettin' a student loan is outta the question, huh? I ended up gettin' four student loans and still payin' them off--but if you're takin' somethin' ya really want wouldn't it be worth it.
Unfortunately for me, my family wasn't supportive of my art interests, especially my mother--she wanted me to be a paralegal or in health services instead. I tried paralegal and I died of boredom, now I'm in mental health--it's not bad but it's not what I really want to do for the rest of my life.
I think it's worth gettin' that student loan and takin' what ya really want to do, and can see yourself doin' for the rest of your adult life.
But I do know what ya mean 'bout money bein' a major negative factor in a career decision. I'm not rich, either. T_T
I can relate to what you're sayin'.

Student loans just don't seem like a good idea to me. You have to start paying them back as soon as you graduate--regardless of your job status. Not everyone gets hired right after getting out of college.
Some colleges do not offer job placement programs. If I took a student loan (it would have to be a BIG one, since tuition at CCS is $11,000 a semester @_@), I'd be in serious trouble if I didn't have a really good paying job when I finished college. Plus, I'd be in dept for years and years.
*sigh* Being an artist is hard work.

I dunno 'bout where you live but in Canada there's a thing called interest relief that helps students who can't repay their loans right away. I've been on and off it--am currently off it. I have a student loan debt of $46,000. At income tax time--if you have been payin' your student loan payments throughout the year you get the interest back, which can be pretty good, and I put that money towards payin' back my loan.
I would think there is somethin' to help the poor or middle class to repay or temporarily relieve 'em from payin' where you live. Maybe it's worth lookin' into it.
No pressure to ya . . . if you're not interested in student loans than I respect your decision.
