Holy hell, that's... that's like FLCL era pillows. This is great! Officially hyped. For those who are illiterate to all Japanese characters but hiragana... is that a title or not?
Also, hehe, nobody has updated the wiki with Rock Stock and whatnot. I'd do it, but again, I'm not even sure on the whole track listing on those as I can only read hiragana...

I can get you the tracklistings for Wikipedia if you want.

And yeah, that song is called "Rainy Images" or something. I ran it through google translate. The new song sounds wonderful, but I can't say I'm as impressed with Chelsea Hotel... I'll withhold judgment until we get the electric release though.

Still the new song has the best pillows chorus in... a long, LONG time. It's so powerful.

I just saw your One Life Piano Cover on YouTube :O

Yeah... I need to re-record that cover... I have a much better version now. I actually found a way to incorporate Manabe's killer guitar solo.

Also, I was able to add a few more harmonies to make it fit on piano a bit more smoothly. I just need a ****ing camcorder so I can get it on Youtube.

Woo hoo! Got the tracking number for my shirts today :) Now if only I could get that poster.....

I still kick myself for turning that guy down who offered to sell one to me here. He registered and sent a PM to people posting in this thread, offering to sell the exact 'Oh Look! Something Just Flashed!' poster I want, for like 30$ and I missed out.

Looks like there is a second anniversary album coming out in June?

This is certainly my lucky week  I just scored two really hard to find promotion fliers! These are 24in tall and about 13in wide. Muwahaha, Buy It Now is awesome. They are MINE now!

EDIT: So, thanks to the recent implementation of Social Groups, I have created a group for, who? THE PILLOWS YOU FOOL! One of the first groups on the board since the new updates I might add. What does this mean? Well its like a chatroom basically! It shows are awesome we are too, I even made a kickass avatar for it. Its also really great for making a tab resource.

You know, awhile ago when I still bought albums, I used to like maybe.... half the songs? The other half would usually be pretty lame, and then there would be one awesome song usually named after the Album Title that you could listen to 30 times and then get bored of it.

I think I like every single song The Pillows have ever done. There are some earlier songs, like on Moon Gold or Pantomime that I don't really dig as much as the new ones, just because The Pillows we're so different back then, but I still enjoy to listen to them. For instance, Razorlike Blue off of Pantomime kicks ***.

Also, a little progress update with Blue Poppies Poster. The origional image is 500x706 pixels, far too small for a good sized poster. So I am turning this into a massive 2500x3600 high-res image, which should allow for a 2ft x 3ft wall poster, printed on heavy cardstock. I am replicating the text exactly from the old image, so that everything is perfect.

Now, because I am replicating alot of this from scratch, I have the ability to take a few liberties when turning it into a sutible poster. One of the things I have been considering, is adding a 'Tour Dates' section to the bottom like they are in the Scarecrow poster.

However, I am re-making this at a resolution fit for printing a wall poster. To give you guys an idea, here is a snippet of my poster at full resolution. This small chunk is almost as big as the entire origional poster.

Well, it's a live, so there's not much we can do. It was probably recorded by an audience member, or maybe it was on TV or something.

In any case, I'm waiting to hear the studio version.

You realise that at any one time you can find all of thier albums on Yahoo Japan, and there are even several on regular eBay right now. Not to mention the several websites that sell thier albums, both in English and Japanese.

You realise that at any one time you can find all of thier albums on Yahoo Japan, and there are even several on regular eBay right now. Not to mention the several websites that sell thier albums, both in English and Japanese.

BTW, was there ever a live version of Synchronized Rockers? I saw one of Mr. Children doing Strage Chameleon.

Then could you PLEASE link me to a place where one can find 90s My Life Returns? I can't for the life of me find it anywhere but there...

You can order from there, but I'm not sure how you go about it exactly. Have you e-mailed them? Delicious Label I mean.

I don't think HMV carries 90s My Life RETURNS.

I sing in Japanese. You can't match it up with the English translations unless you make some changes. Either way, it just feels better in Japanese. Well, for me.

Deff japanese. It sounds so wrong when its translated, especially when sung to the tune of the song. Just my take on it.

Japanese, easy. I've been getting used to even the mess of lyrics I don't understand in my head due to massive listening to of pillows recently (got a little cheap one gig MP3 player for Christmas, loaded it with all my pillows albums and have been listening to it for 2-3 hours a day due to downtime that is aided by music...)

OK guys. Let's get to predictions going here.

What do you predict from the pillows in the future? By future I mean the new songs/singles/albums we can expect this year and beyond.

I think the pillows are still striving forward. The music quality has been very great lately, but nothing too spectacular. I don't think we'll see anything too riveting, but I think the pillows still have what it takes to keep us interested for years to come.

The newer songs actually seem to be MUCH MUCH better than what we saw on Pied Piper, so I admit, I'm more hopeful come this year.

So here I am casually listning to The Pillows while I work, Air Resistor comes up and I was thinking about posting a 'wow this song is so awesome' post, but by the time I got around to it, Walkin' On The Spiral started, so I was going to talk about that one as well, but I realised that I could talk about pretty much every song they've ever produced. I mean goddamn, how do they consistantly kick so much ***?

I could talk about how awesome the chorus in Juliet is, how much the intro/verse to Air Resistor kicks ***, or how Serious Plan is just so f'ing cool. Or how about that kickass Solo in Tokyo Bambi? Or hey, how about Manabe's kickass lead in Sweet Baggy Days? Or how creepy Sawao sounds in Toy Dolls. Or the supremely kickass Naked Shuffle.

**** The Pillows are so awesome.

:D The Sun That Will Not Rise is a pretty long song though, at 6 minutes. Out of the two i'd rather have That's a Wonderful World, because its a more upbeat song and alot of fun.

Oh, and on another note, Sono Mirai Wa Ima, from Good Dreams (and a single album) would also be GREAT to have. IMO its one of The Pillows' most upbeat and energetic songs. I would love to play this on stage with a band. It needs a good tab.

Does anyone know what specific model the guitar Sawao is using in the Carnival PV is?

It appears to have 3 single coil picups, and also has a vibrato. I *think* the color is red, but it could possibly be a burnt orange. It's definatly a Fender.

I'm not quite sure, but I was always under the impression that it was a fake/heavily customized guitar just for the PV. I mean, it has like a meter or gauge on it...the 3 pickups are very custom, and I've never seen a stock strat with a covered bridge.

Manabe's looks a lot like a Mosrite.

I'm well aware of that. I'm not so sure at the moment, but I've got plenty of time to figure it out. Afterall, the deadline is August 1st to submit a video. I'm an OK singer (I could use some practice), and my Japanese pronunciation is pretty good, I think.

Or, you could spend the time to properly transcribe the song in English which might earn you some bonus points. I have tried before, and can match some of it fairly well to my guitar playing, so I think if you spent a good amount of time on it you could make a song one One Life work in english.

That's another option. I hate how many options you have with just One Song. Because you never know what the pillows are really looking for in their covers, and what they aren't. They said it needed to be unique, but would translating the lyrics to English be a good thing or a bad thing? It's hard to say, really.

Well let's look at this objectively. This is an international competition, so needless to say there's going to be alot of talent showing up trying to win, many of which will probably have full bands, so you, as a single person, need to come up with something truely spectacular. Now I don't play Piano, but I can assume it probably wasen't easy to totally re-write this entire song on the Piano, so that's something you've got going for you. We also know based on the 'Secret Slogan' song, that atleast one of the Pillows plays Piano, so they might understand the kind of effort you put into the cover.

I think it needs more than that though, you've got to really get into it and cover the song while making it your own, like the Synchronized Rockers album. Yes they covered the song, but each band still did thier own thing which each and every song.

If I we're in your position, I might take a que from the Hybrid Rainbow cover. They did thier completely own thing with the intro, while still keeping that Hybrid Rainbow feel, but then for the chrous they let all out, brought back that classic intro riff and really got into it.

Or, you could look at what the Eagles did with Hell Freezes Over. It was after they broke up and got back together, if you don't know, and one of the songs they played that was really popular, was Hotel California. Well they did a whole intro section that was about 1-2 minutes, and noone had any idea what they we're playing. But then when they went into the classic riff from the song the crowd just erupted.

I'm going to try arranging All the Way to the Edge of this World for piano and violin. Instrumental. I'm keeping the One Life idea going too, but I wanna keep my options open. The arrangement is going well, but my main goal is try to put a classical spin on things. Make it sounds kind of concert-esque in nature, but also keep that ROCK BALLAD thing going on.

There are so many good songs that need to be tabbed, or have tabs in the Bandscores but nowhere online. I want Fun Fun OK! or Rain Brain, or Moon Margret, or Want to Sleep For, or Orange Film Garden!

I also want to point out that we've surpassed the 'What Video Game Song Are You Listning To" thread in number of views, and the "What J-Pop Song Are You Listning To" thread in views, and just barely behind in replies. The only one with more is the generic "What ANime Song Are You Listning To" thread which also was here a year before ours. Pretty sure we have without a doubt the largest thread devoted to a single band, probably one of the largest threads devoted to any single subject with 111 pages for that matter.

Yea that thing Manabe does where it looks like he's rowing a boat with his guitar cracks me up. Atleast we have the good fortune of that song being in the bandscore, and is it just me or does Manabe look like Jet Li in that video

There was a few covers on the tube....none of which were spectacular, but it is a pretty intense song to cover.

Also, I'm sorry about the stickers. It's a mix of not being on a lot lately and not being able to decide if I want to get rid of them. I'm pretty sure they're still yours though.

And as for tabbing, give me one song you want the most, and i'll get it to you by tonight. I've been busy lately, but I need to get back into the pillows and guitar anyway, so which song you want done?

Gray

To showcase just how horrible the only mic I have avilable to me is, and why I am buying a new one, I recorded this little snippet of me playing One Life on Acoustic. The little part at the beginning is from a Beatles song called Let It Be.

Just got back from vacation, sorry for the lack of presence around here!

1) The new single has it's PV out!

I have to say, better than preceding singles! I'm liking it... though something seems off about the guitar work...

2) Skype... I haven't been using it a lot lately. If you want to coordinate a meeting, I wouldn't mind... but jamming might be kinda hard to do.

I actaully just picked up a really good studio usb mic with great sound quality, should be no problem. I was mostly referring to acoustics, I don't know how well it'd work with an electric. Pretty sure kenshin has an acoustic. You can do the piano thing

Ok so I have been testing out my new mic all day. I recorded myself playing One Life(this time the full song) to see how much of a difference there is in quality. It's played on a 12 String with a capo at the 3rd fret. I made a few mistakes because i'm not used to playing this on the 12 string, and im still getting used to this type of mic so the sound quality can fluctuate at times.

Sounding pretty good!

My ISP capped my data flow again, so I'm having a hard time downloading ANYTHING, even data from streaming sites and online-hosted files. I can't even download Skype, my downloads keep stalling. My ISP said I went past my monthly allowance, so I have to wait a couple of weeks for things to pick up.

Needless to say, I'm pissed.

I just noticed I was getting alot of feedback, espically at the beginning. I have a 5.1 Surround setup on my computer and the mic was too close to one of my speakers.

I have been playing around with a program called Mixcraft. Basically, what I do is play the rythm section of a song, and record it on the top audio track. Then, I go to the second track, and record myself playing the lead section, while the rythm section I just record is played in the background so that I can keep pace. Then when it's done and I play it back it sounds like two people sitting and playing guitar, except I am doing both parts.

Sorry to hear about your internet troubles. :(

Either way I'm happy to have it as the 1989 PV is amazing...

Also, congratulations on completing your pillows collections! It's worth over $1,000!

Ok, here is another one of my contributions. This is something I have been putting together, an Acoustic Sessions CD. This is a collection of acoustic versions performed by the Pillows. Each song is a seperate file, they all have proper artist/album info, and they're all high-quality MP3's. I am a stickler about my music collection and I like to have album art for artist collections, so I created this CD cover for it. I'll be posting this at Pirouzu and you can find the download link there.(which is hosted on my server so no need to worry about it going down in the future) Pirouzu Link (http://pirouzu.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=4625)

So i'm currently kicking around the idea of creating a 'Best Of' collection of Live performances. Like what I did with my Acoustic Sessions compliation, i'd create custom CD art for it and put together a collection of very high-quality live versions in a collection that to my personal opinion is a Best Of. I will probably post a track listing here once I have sorted everything out to get your opinions on any possible additions/subtractions from the final listing.

I would still like to create a website where I could host both of my custom albums, as well as have a comprehensive collection of Guitar and possibly other instrument tabs that is actively updated.

As for the first three tracks of the album...? Excellent!

Actual, my favorite songs are:

"Xavier", "Walkin' on the Spiral", "Sono Mirai wa Ima", "You Stood There, Like an Angel", "New Year's Eve", and "Good Dreams".

Hey all, long time now speak!
Just got back early this morning from a two week stay in Mexico, and boy was it amazing. But I revamped my love for the pillows along the way as well. Whats everyone up to? Hows the pillows community? Whats new in the world of the pillows?

OOParts (album)

I saw The Pillows back when they were on the Delicious Bump Tour in 08. I even got a pillow from it!

They mostly did stuff from FLCL, but they also did Wake Up! Dodo, which I loved. Kind of wished they did Lo-Fi Boy, Fighter Girl though...

Yeah, we're trying to get the pillows to play more varied sets when they visit America, they need to realize we aren't all FLCL fans. We love all 20 years of their discography.

Yeah, I got OOParts, yet to give it a good listen. I'll look for RSM. Yeah same here, how've you been? Anything new with you? Any new covers?

I covered some more pillows songs and some Nirvana songs, but I haven't uploaded them to Youtube yet.

You still interested in the music for some of my originals?

Yeah, deffinately man. I hadn't played guitar in quite a while, but I just recently got back into it.

Temporarily hah. Not like, I didn't want to or I chose to put it down. So many things kept me from ever getting to play though. Luckily, college stuff is over, I sent over all my applications yesterday, so I'm finally stress free!

Haha, I have to go to Berklee for an audition. If I made it in there, I'd be attending college close to you!

God, watching through the live videos you posted on Youtube, Tidus, and I can't believe I had forgotten my strange, deep inner love for Ritalin 202...

Haha, yeah. I forgot about that song until I saw that live. It's pretty damn awesome for sure. It has that pillows energy!
