My mistake it is only them too. It is a one hour drive for me and having to deal with traffic to LA is a pain. Hopefully they still have tickets, so i can buy some this Thursday but i don't know what to wear. lol
**** if you would have mentioned it earlier I could have bought you a ticket and you could have just paid me when you got there.
I've done the whole trying to get a ticket there and it was a pain, but if your really heading down say hi or something, be nice to meet other animenation members there.
Are you planning on heading down by yourself?
DarkNataku
March 3rd, 2008, 03:05 PM
Yeah i will probably be by myself. I don't think that there will be that many Mexican ppl there so i will be easy to spot. lol
Jia
March 4th, 2008, 12:32 AM
I ordered my tickets too =D
I was trying to find some other people that were going in the los angeles area. it would be great to meet other people that like this kind of music for future shows
Usually the people i see at jrock shows, more over the pillows shows were of the older crowd haha.
We never get Jrockers here. :(
How lucky of you guys!

OMG...
Kenshin... and everyone else who is interested...
I LOVE It Feels Like it's Gonna' Rain SO MUCH...
Seriously, the opening with the guitar is SO beautiful, I almost cry when I hear it!
If you don't have Moon Gold, YOU NEED to get it and listen to this, people! OMG... I almost died just now listening to this song!

It's too bad a lot of the songs aren't really coverable by piano... I can't really do anything with my appreciation.

Ha. Hello Girl is another great one. And You Are.
On an unrelated note, heard She is Perfect on youtube last night for the first time in a long time, I'm in love.
Tidusauron12
March 5th, 2008, 12:16 PM
Yeah, She's Perfect was my first favorite song by the pillows, back in my FLCL-only days. I loved it SO much, because me and my girlfriend had just broke up and... :crybaby:
*Wipes tears*
That's a story for another day.

Tidusauron12

I first heard it when I downloaded it from Gendou in the FLCL section. Great song, seriously. It's one of my favorite b-sides.

Jrockers? as in the bands or the actual people who listen to jrock?
where is exactly is here. Im lucky to find people who listen to jrock here in los angeles. Considering the big groups of different people you'd think it would be easier.

1 Week from tomorrow I'll be in the same room as the pillows!!
AGAIN!!!
TA did you send the stuff, there is only a week left. :uhh:
I hate dreams. I woke up from the graetest dream last night. I met Manabe and Shin. Shin gave me 4 autographs, one where he refferred to me as Johnny Cash?
Then I asked and he confirmed they were going to play Ame ni Utaeba. Then I got like 10 pisc with him. Manabe told me he'd do the same after the show.
He (Shin) had an amazing grasp of english, and he came out in a thong (not out to the stage, just back out to me) and we laughed and talked until they went on. Then I woke up. :(

^For some reason, the pillows were staying at MY HOUSE!!!
Shin played some awesome on my keyboard with HIS FEET! And he spoke good English! I talked to him for a good amount of time... then I went outside and Manabe was leaning against my neighbor's car, and he gave me an autograph! Him and Sawao thanked me for letting them stay at my house, and then they gave an outside concert to all the peeps in my neighborhood! It was awesome!
IT SEEMED SO REAL!!!
EDIT: And then I woke up...

That concert was AWESOME.
Whoever stayed after got lucky, the noodles were out signing autographs and talking right after the concert. I didn't think the pillows were coming out to sign since almost everyone was gone, but I decided to wait outside as long as there were people waiting also.
The pillows came at least...a hour or 2 after almost everyone left, only me and a small group of people waited outside for them and oh it was worth it :) Noodles came out again with the pillows so whoever missed them earlier got to take pictures and autographs.
The set the noodles played was great, im lucky i've already seen them 3 times, I got their autograph already a while back but I got it again along with the pillows and i was smart enough to bring a camera this time HAHA. What can I say...the pillows were AWESOME, I mean they know how to put out energy and get the crowd pumping freaking awesome.
Sawao even talked about his last concert here and how he got lost in l.a., and while he was lost he was listening to rock music, and that inspired him to write a new recent single Ladybird Girl I believe while he was down herehaha, which he played in the set tonight. Freaking awesome

WOW! Looks like you had quite the night!!
I can't wait, just 1 week away.
Looks like you have everyone covored!
I'm hoping to get pics as well. A whole hour or two after the show though? Jeez, I really hope it doesn't take that long in NY!
And they played LBG!? Awesome.
More in depth review of the show please?
WHat was the setlist, how long did eachband play?

Yeap, lbg, he explained the whole story about it, how he came up with it while he was lost in los angeles.
shiet a setlist? hahaha I don't remember half of what they played, but i'll try to go through it. I'll get a complete list MAYBE from a friend who was also there last nite. I was to into it to even remember the songs
Blues drive monster
third eye
Ride on shooting star
I think I can
crazy Sunshine
Hybrid Rainbow
Little Busters(..i think)
there were a few more but I can't remember the name of the songs off the top of my head, the whole nite was a blur haha. One of the songs have a Bass line for the intro, I know the song but can't think of the name. They played alot of songs but even though people were wanting more, the encore was just 2 songs but they played alot of songs all together.
OH yea did I forget to mention? My friend who runs a anime website, was able to get a interview with the pillows and noodles? I mean private back stage interview hahaha AWESOME ^_^ He was trying to take me back there with him but sadly I coudln't to last minute.

If i didn't live so far away i would have stayed too but as it was i was sorta falling asleep as i was driving back. And it didn't help that they decided to close 3 lanes and after getting past that mess they did it again.
Azure i think i might have seen you around. I was hoping that they would play Another Morning but i don't think i heard it.

Probably Sleepy Head is the one with the bassline intro. THe others I'm thinking of they wouldn't play in America cause no one would know them. :)
It seems as I though, they're just playing everything that the standard American would know and a few new songs. Which has it's pros or cons. They played all of those songs you mentioned last time. But whatever, I'm not complaining, I just want pics, vids, pics with them and autographs, and it's a top notch night in my life. 2 out of 4 of those are practically garunteed.
http://pirouzu.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3831&start=30
They've got some people who went the other night as well. I was right, it was Sleepy Head. :)
I've a friend from a musicians forum that is down in Texas going to their SXSW show. I'll report as much as he reports to me back to you all.

Yea I was hoping for more non FLCL music. Since I listen to alot of their non FLCL oriented music.
I have vids too of the preformance =) They mentioned I think to my friend who interviewed them back stage that they want to get away from the whole FLCL thing since thats what their mostly known for here. Im sure they want the people to want to listen to their music other then the ones associated to FLCL.

Exactly. Good. They need to know that people here in the USA are interested in non-FLCL music now. I think it's a good thing if us fans tell them that exactly. I don't want to hear Sawao singing ROSS anymore, it's tired. What I'd like to hear is anything NOT from FLCL.
I think they should play Paris Girl Mary.

Thank You, My Twilight is very awesome... but I generally like the older stuff from Pantomime-Living Field.
Since 2000 it's been kinda' loopy. If you ask me, they put out a lot more 'boring songs' during this period, but there are also a lot of excellent songs from this period as well.

I wouldn't take any one era over the other. I'm very happy with the stuff they're putting out now. I know some people that don't like it, but I feel they're keeping with the times. As great as their jazz-fusion stuff is, it wouldn't sell in todays world. I think LBG is an amazing track and so is TB.

Oh, yeah. Everything Since the Third Eye single has been gold, if you ask me. The My Foot album is one of my favorites, and Wake Up! x3 is also solid. Tokyo Bambi is my favorite track since My Foot... it's just so energetic. Still, Smile-Good Dreams it mixed for me. Smile is overall an awesome album, but Penalty Life has some meh tracks as well as Good Dreams. Thank You, My Twilight is an awesome album as well. I have to admit though, That Future is Now is an updated more awesome form of Last Dinosaur.

Yeah, Good Dreams s the only album that I can think of with more than 1 meh track.
Penalty Life is an amazing album. It's so unpopular and I can't understand it...
*goes to check tracks on iTunes*
Lonesome Diamond and Phantom Pain are the only tracks off PL that I can find as remotely meh.

I've got great plans....
Since my mom and dad are going to be there, I will utilize them to get my merchandise while I situate in a very close spot near the stage.
Last time I got merch and then got a spot on the floor and was still real close, so if I don't spend the time at merch, I can probably touch the pillows.

A magazine interview. :)
I still have it. <3
It was when Anime Insider interviewed them during their first tour ever of the US. They were so cool and the mentioned this anime...FLCL. What is that I wondered. I got the OST and Penalty Life and fell in love.
So I guess indirectly it was FLCL, but it wasn't as most, watching FLCL.

March 19th, 2008, 07:16 PM
I need your helpppppp people.
What do get signed!? I mean, hte dillemma lies herein...
A shirt would be awesome, but it's kind of impracticle since they sell them at the show and I kind of feel it wouldn't show my deep love as say an old CD would.
But that would in a way 'ruin' a CD sleeve since I'd have to take it out of it's case and it would be sleeveless....
A piece of paper is an option, but a last resort...
My brother thinks he's getting his pickguard signed.
A bandscore is always an option, but I use them and I fear for the safety of the signature.
So what? I'm being pretty nuerotic and stupid over it, but it'll be the first time I meet them (I REALLY HOPE I DO).
If a CD, then which? I was thinknig TYMT since it has all 4 members or something like that. I'd love them to see an OLD CD get signed, but Jun wasn't in them...
Maybe I'll get the 3 to sign and Jun to sign something else...
Anyway, suggestions??

So I've narrowed it to:
Nine Miles (Manabe)
Moon Gold, Kool Spice (all but Jun)
TYMT(all)
or
shirt(all)
Whats the best bet?
Tidusauron12
March 20th, 2008, 05:08 PM
I'm leaning towards Moon Gold and Kool Spice... but Jun might feel left out!

March 20th, 2008, 05:14 PM
I know! THat's why I'm kinda not feeling those.
TYMT is probably my favorite album so I'd love it signed, but the old stuff really shows my fanhood. And yet TYMT really does too...
But then a shirt with all the sigs is so attractive.
And then Nine Miles...I can't pester Manabe, so I either get him to sign Solomanic Polar Bear or TYMT...or a shirt! DEcisions!

Kinda,
I'm worried for their saftey along with the fact that it'd be totally uncool to walk up asking for 5 autographs.

I KNOW
That shrt that Azure posted with EVERYONE's auttgraph is just ingenious. I want it...
But I'd love a CD signed!
Cursed brother wants to get his pickguard signed, so I can't convince hime to do a CD. :\
But I keep telling him, I'd be satisfied if I just got to meet them and get a pictures with them, and then catch a pick. I'd omit autographs and be happy, of course, a triple threat is cool too. :D

LONG POST REVIEW:
Well, I got to the city around 12:30/1:00. We went to check the venue, then went to check the restaurant we would eat at.
We walk to times square and shop a bit. Check out numerous stores, streetside tables, etc.
FAST FORWARD
We eat at the Primehouse New York, probably the fanciest place I'll ever eat at in my life. We chose there because it is owned by a man my dad always plays for with his band, so he offered us a meal on him.
It was almost TOO fancy...but obviously delicious.
FAST FORWARD
We get to the venue around quarter after 6. NO ONE expected the turnout. The line, by that time, had went from the venue, down the street, wrapped the corner, down that block, wrapped the corner, and 3/4 down that street. It was amazing. Regardless of my placement on the line however, I was able to claim a spot one person from the front, right in front of Manabe since that's where my brother headed first...I kinda regret not being in front of Jun, but...
Anyway, about halfway through the show, my little brother, struggling t osee from behind the asian in front of him, was moved to the very front by the bouncer/security guy.
Anyway...starting from the beginning, the noodles were pretty damn good. I've only heard a few songs previously, but she has a very unique style(guitarist). She sings very well too. I liked her voice. THey played maybe 7 or 8 songs? She used a mustang, the same Marshall as Manabe, and a BD-2 and MXR Micro Amp from what I could see.
So they leave, pleading for people to come see them in Brooklyn, which I would've if it wasn't Brooklyn. Manhatten>Brooklyn...
Then the pillows come on...Jun came out with his base in his case, Sawao with his guitar, then Manabe, they take a bit to set up and then head backstage again. THe stage guy, for the venue I assume, was funny. Everyone was cheering for him...'yeah stage guy! Plug in those wires!' and he'd go backstage and stick out his flashlight and wave it around.
So the pillows come out, open with I THink I Can. I won't go through every song since the setlist is posted....
It was an amazing show. 2 unreleased songs...
The venue, unlikne the Knitting Factory, had zero tolerance for ANY moshing/crowd surfing, which I loved. The pillows were great, really energetic, Sato did look a bit bored... Manabe was enthused, Sawao, enthusiastic as always, Jun was even pretty happy to be there.
Sawao told his misquito story of how he was bitten by misquitos last time he was here, and Jun, in the same room, was not...maybe he was popular.
So they finished up, came out for two encores, but Sawao was really tired. Great show though, great show. New Animal sounded great, but Mr. Droopy even better!
I left at like 11. THey still hadn't come out, and when my mom asked, the lady said they had already left through the side door...
So we left. On the way out of the venue, we were waiting around inside, prohibited, but I'm a badass. We waited until they kicked us out, but my brother and I were interviewed by a crew guy and he said give a message to the pillows! So hopefully I'll make it to the next DVD. That'd be amazing.
I saw Overburn, but didn't introduce my self. You were out in front of the Duane Reede that was like next door. You went inside as I was leaving, so I could'nt introduce myself...I saw you in the concert too, you were like between Sawao and Manabe.
Mr. Lostman, I was banking on joining you in that long line, but I couldn't find you. :(
So pros were:
both bands were great
no obnoxious fans really...
got all the merch
might be on the next dvd
ALMOST got a pic...it landed right near my brother, but the asian in front of me swooped it up practically from his hands. :( )
Great area as compared to where we were on line
I saw overburn
lots of pics/vids
good venue
bigger turnout...maybe next year concert instead of two years! or sooner?
pretty srue I got a smile from Sato and Manabe
Cons:
the mix for the noodles was kind of poor. the bassdrum overtook the bass...
no signed things/pictures with anyone
So you see, the pros outweighed the cons tremendously. Great day. I am still recouperating.
I got lots of pics, and 2 vids of each. The security was pretty tight about video taping, so I didn't want to risk the loss of the camera for the rest of the show.

I tell you, I'm not normally this organized.
It's jsut special...
First I had to make a folder for all the blurry shots. THen, I had to divide all the noodles/pillows/city pictures. Then when they were in their respective folders, I had to go through each folder and put subfolders, A grade and B grade depending on the awesomeness of the pic. Now I'm going through and making an A+/B+ sub folder, and then I'll upload all the A+'s, my best photos, on to photobucket for your viewing pleasure.
Then I'll megaupload or youtube the vids. :)

Kenshin, I've got a question.
I'm righting an alternative rock song, and I was wandering... when writing fill/chords for the lead guitar part... what types of intervals would be appropriate. I say this because there is of course the rhythm section, which plays chords anyways, and I wanted to know what the difference would be for times when the lead and rhythm sections are playing filler type notes.
I don't want the lead to become rhythm whenever I go into a chorus, but I also don't want the lead to be too active so that it over-powers the vocals. Can you help me out here? I really have trouble to composing rock/pop songs when it comes to this aspect of it, and I don't have anytime to take any classes. Whenever I listen to a pillows song to get a good example, I can't hear the difference sometimes between guitars. Like at one point of Sono Mirai wa Ima; I can't get the distinction between lead and rhythm. Is there any particular composition scheme that goes into this?

Not sure I understand your question as to what part of the song your referring to, 'fill/chords for the lead'. Any examples?
Tidusauron12
March 23rd, 2008, 02:15 PM
Well, what I mean is like... you know, chords.
I'm not comfortable writing chords for lead guitar. I'm not sure what chords sound good/are comfortable for a guitar player, and I'm not sure how much opposition there needs to be between lead and rhythm when both parts are playing chords.
I have the lead playing a cool little phrase in the beginning, but when the chorus comes in, I'm not sure what to write for the lead. I want to write chords, but they always become the same as the rhythm section, and I don't think that's a good thing. The lead and rhythm shouldn't have the same part at once right?
btw, I LOVED the I Think I can performance... it was perfect.

Well it's very common for rhythm and lead to share chords, especiialy during a chorus. I can think of numerous bands that do that with 2 guitars..the pillows, the Beatles...
The rhythm plays the chords naturally, if the lead decides to play the chords as well, he can either play the same exact thing or different inversions/ways to play the chord. Or they'll mix it up instrumentation wise.
I couldn't imagine the dissonance of two guitars playing completely different progressions...
What I'd do is keep the lead player either playing lead, as in continuous riffage (a la I Think I Can verse), or exprirement. Say the progression was A B C D (HA)...The rhythm'd play that, the lead could play the same chords, but with power chords or octaves...they could play the same chord an octave up or use octave chords. If the rhythm was playing open chords, trhe lead could play bar chords or different ways of playing the chord. There are many different ways to play one chord, expirement with that.
Lastly, the instrumentation thing I was talking about...
Try like 12 string and 6 string, distorted and clean, acoustic and electric, etc. They all give off different sounds and will add to the uniqueness of different parts.
Did that answer your question?? My understanding of the problem is trying to seperate the lead and rhythm, right?

So I was making a list yesterday full of Ajikan, L'arc, noodles, and pillows songs I know/wanted to figure out on my own, and as I'm going through every pillows song I own (nearly every one ), I realized for the millionth time how amazing these guys really were. I mean really. Just a few that I saw included Plastic Flower, Beautiful Picture, Skeleton Liar, Subhuman, etc.
Grade A stuff.
I'm really into the new album too. And I've been listening to Turn Back quite a bit...Liberty and Tiny Boat, just make it amazing, never mind all the rest.
I'm also looking to make my first import in a long time...I'm looking at the WU!x3 bandscore and the new DVD Wake Up! Stand Up! and Go!. I dunno about the DVD cause I kind of want noodles stuff too, and the Delicious Label comp so I can own some of Jun's work. It's tough for a kid with little money and no job to get everything he wants. These are the times I wish I hit the millions with the lotto...
The new single will be great too, New Animal was awesome, the chorus with Jun and Manabe's 'Bah bah bah buh bah bah'. Just great, wish I got it on tape, but I only got the verse, which I stillhave to youtube....
Anyway, they should've gotten back to JP by now, they'll have studio time and get onto the new DVD (I want to be in it pillows!). Should be a good year.
Edit: The noodles were fab too, can't stop listening ever since NY. Got a free sticker from the merch stand there. Just found it.

I'm so pumped about the new single, just 1 month away.
I'm heading to the city again within the month because ti was so fun, but this time we're going downtown to Chinatown and Little Italy. So hopefully I find some cool merch music wise. Last time I went to Chinatown, 2006, I remmember a lot of the stuff was fake, but meh.
I've been listening to Runner's high (album) a lot lately. Let's See if That's True or Not, Juliet, etc.
All so great.
I've long wondered the songwriting process of the pillows. The melodies are so amazing, Sawao is an amazing lyricist. Everyone is fab of course.
Tidusauron12
March 31st, 2008, 05:01 PM
I know! I wish I could see how they came up with their stuff? Does Sawao talk to Manabe and Satou (and maybe even Jun!?) when he's writing? Does he lock his self up in a small room with just water and bread until he's finished? Does he just chill and get inspiration from whatever happens around him?
It's something to be wondered about... the pillows are so awesome! I've also wondered who composes the guitar solos... Sawao or Yoshiaki?
kenshinbebop

So I listened to the Scarecrow single on the way home from school today. Graet stuff. I hqaven't heard Scarecrow in a while, so it was amazing as always. Tsuroigi and Boys Be Locksmith were both great too....then I moved to WU!x3...serious plan and century creepers.
Great stuff.
I listened to Sugar Nightmare too, by V6, written by Sawao. Great stuff. I heard that Puffy one he wrote thanks to pirouzu, it was okay, but I've loved sugar Nightmare for a long time.

I Know You is good. I still remember the first time I heard it all those years ago.
THR is great, Freebee Honey is amazing, Mole Town Prisoner is severley underated.
The Sun That Will Not rise is phenominal and The Scar Speaks is epic.

Seriously, Kenshin. I think it's because you got into the pillows from a means other than FLCL.
You have to understand, I came into the PL from FLCL. I'd been listening to tracks from LB, RH, and HB... you have to admit... for someone hyped up on all of those great albums, PL would not be a step up. I was let down for the most part... I mean Ban-New Love-song!? Last Dinosaur? Blues Drive Monster!?
To me, those three albums are in a higher league than PL. Of course now, I can appreciate PL... but way back when, I thought it was meh. The tracks I love are I know You and Moonlight Marguerite though. They are both creative and awesome songs, to me. The others are fine, but I can't see myself using the word EPIC to describe them.

That makes sense. I mean, I am one of the few I know of who didn't get into them because of FLCL. Likewise, I'm one of the few I know who love PL. So the relation makes sense.
Ir's not to say I disagree...Blues Drive Monster, Last Dinosaur are probably better than any track on PL. But they are on a different level. Personally, since I didn't get into them through FLCL, I don't relate them to it tbh. I don't listen to songs like One Life or Little Busters and think FLCL for some reason. Even with ROSS, FLCL isn't the first thought in my mind.
But I think I'm a sucker for the heavy reverb'd slow songs. The Sun That Does Not Rise, Scar Whispers, Let's See if That's True or Not...they're all epic. BDM is another one. It's not in the same catagory, but listening through earphones, listening to it hard, it can make you cry. That's epic by my standards. Everyone has different standards too, so...
Tidusauron12
April 2nd, 2008, 05:40 PM
To be honest, I don't really think of FLCL when I listen to any track anymore (OK, maybe ROSS, I mean I have to admit, that was the song that got me into the pillows). I haven't watched FLCL in a long time, and I hardly remember what it was even about, or how they used the pillows music in the show itself.
I think there is a bit of a difference between The albums used in FLCL and the lone album which was released after FLCL, Penalty Life. The sound is different and also, Sawao's direction with composition is a bit different as well. I don't think the album was made with FLCL fans in mind... it was made by the pillows as an album following up their work on Smile and previous albums. I suppose that if you look at it from that perspective, PL might gain some value as a great album... I also suppose that since I became a fan through FLCL, I will have forever lost that ability to appreciate PL as much as it deserves to be.
I always think of PL as "That album that came out in America after FLCL's success, and failed to meet my expectations." I try not to, but I always do. I know its ridiculous, but PL, in a way, suffered from the FLCL release (as far as popularity in America goes). I can tell you this because of the way I feel about the album.
To be fair though, I will say that the album has been growing on me since I first listened to it. I used to think it was all boring, but it's pretty good now that I listen to it again. I was especially able to appreciate more after I started listening to their indie-era CDs (Pantomime, 90s My Life, Moon Gold and White Incarnation).

Man, I'm loving White Incarnation right now. GREAT sound the band has in this album. I love the introduction for Hey, I Don't Care... it's so peaceful and stirring at the same time, and then it opens up to a song full of tension and youthful outbursts! I can really hear Sawao on this one.

Mmm, White Incarnation, eh?
Pretty great album. Tonight is amazing. Bokura Harei no Suisei (though Turn Back's version is better), Kanojo wa Shistua....
I think my ranking of their old albums goes:
Living Field
Moon Gold
White Incarnation
Kool Spice

HOW CAN KOOL SPICE BE LAST!!!1111!!!1?

Kool Spice
Living Field
Moon Gold
White Incarnation
Moon Gold and White Incarnation are pretty close together... it's hard to tell where I want them to be.
kenshinbebop
April 4th, 2008, 08:17 AM
Well, Kool Spice is GREAT. But easily the least favorite of the old albums. It was almost too jazzy. But it wasn't, just almost. Great album, not as great as the others. Different strokes for different folks I guess.
Tidusauron12
April 5th, 2008, 03:35 PM
I always see the build up from Moon Gold to Kool Spice as an ongoing thing. They were headed in the direction of making a jazz sound towards the end of White Incarnation in some tracks (Tonight, Good Night, Hey, I Don't Care, etc). That, IMO, makes Kool Spice almost a masterpiece. After Kool Spice, they focused on combining the jazz sound with a more poppy sound, and they got Living Field, which arguably one of their best albums, IMHO. It all just makes sense to me.
PML was a change of pace in response to low popularity, I think. They found success with PML, and so they builded off of that all the way up to HB.

Anyways, wouldn't you say that the pillows kinda' changed their style yet again after Happy Bivouac? Smile was a completely different kind of album when compared to stuff composed prior to its release. I'd call it the 4th Movement in the pillows' history, I guess.

Just a major to augmented arppegio. A to A+
A C# E C#
A C# F C#
Like that...

Last Dinosaur, One Life, and Blues Drive Monster are their best FLCL tracks IMO.
I haven't listened to a real heavy FLCL track (by that I mena most associated wiht FLCL) in a while...Carnival, Advice, Little Busters, ROSS. I love them of course, but there are so many other songs that they mainly overshadow the FLCL work for me.

Good stuff though. Finger Post of Magic sounds very interesting and Mr. Droopy has been in my head since the sohw. Love it. NA is also great.
I've been listening to Juliet and Tiny Boat lately, might upload covers way later (next week?). Might not.
Been working on my own works lately, and I think I'm almost finished with my first ever (satisfying) song. I just wish I had a band. I'll have to work out all the instruments my self using Music Maker. I just have to write a break and a set solo. I've never actually written a solo, it's normally improv, so to sit down and be able to move around the neck and see what really works, stop redo, etc. to make it great is...well, different. Mi tres anos de espanol en escuela dame este:
My three years of spanish in school give me this:
"Realmente apesadumbrado ahora qué han hecho eran 3 wisemen el deseo divertirse cierto"
Really apesadumbarado now what han hecho were 3 wisemen desired to entertain themselves truely.
Whaddafxup?
The chords Em Bm A D aren't distinguishable off the top of my head as a progression from a pillows song or anything.
I was assuming he was referring to Please Mr. Lostman, but I don't even know.
I'm in love with Kanojo wa Kyou right now, the solo is amazing, and the live version I have from Live Beat '97 is AMAZING.

^Yeah, the 97 version is definately their best live of it. The Busters on the Planet version wasn't that good... their guitars were broken. I don't think the sound sustained enough on the opening booming chords.
Also, the Juliet live.

So I ventured into new territory these past few days and dared the pillows on the DRUMS.
Let's just say I have a whole new respect for Shin. I was able to do some stuff though. March of the God is a fun one to play. And Rockl n roll Sinners.
Modest Mouse and Beatles were attempted as well.

I CAN'T PLAY THAT.
It sounds so easy but the Hi Hat is on an off beat it gets SO confusing.

LOLZ at pirouzu fights.
I seriously wasn't trying to start a fight. I just wanted to have some good discussion; I think Mare must've thought I was looking for a fight though. He seemed pissed by my post from the get-go. Anyways, I think I'm done with Pirouzu for now. You can link me to updates right? I really don't like to fight...
Just tell me when there's an update.

How's that Japanese coming along? My Chinese is slowly progressing.
It turns out that hirigana (Japanese) is directly related to some Chinese. Same characters, and same meaning in some cases!

Not so well I'm afraid...seems to have come to a stand still.
Been so caught up with music stuff...
BTW, that autogrpah I was talmk9ng about, its everyone but Jun. :(
Anyway, yeah, I know a bunch of hiragana. I/'ll have to have a major review session soon. I know basic conversation too.
Need to get my schedual together and keep a steady schedual through out the week.
EDIT: Nice sig.

Which songs would you say are the most musically intricate? As you may or amy not have read aty pirouzu, I'm doing a Music Theory class project on them, which song should I analyze/write up a quiz for?

Dood, there are so many.
The special CD and Kool Spice are all about being technically complex though, so why not look there? Also, there's the later half of White Incarnation.

Man, I've been in to the pillows for about 4 years now. Gotta thank FLCL for introducing me to the pillows, they are the only band that I actually like, I'm usually like certain songs not genres or bands, but dam I do love the pillows.
Always feel great listening to Hybrid Rainbow, I like to listening to Wake up, Frenzy before I got to sleep sometimes. Just to many songs I really love to mention them all but here are a couple:
Stalker
Scent of sweet
Non Fiction (this probably has to be my favorite song of all)
Beehive
So far I have 61 pillows songs on my itunes. I still haven't gotten around to the 3 most recent albums, recommendations?

Nice list. Nonfiction is a real great song. The chorus is SO damn awesome.
61...whats that, 5-7 albums? Which do you have and I'll give you some reccomendations. :)
The 3 most recent full albums, I assume you mean WU!x3, My Foot, and Good Dreams? In my opinion, from best to good (there is no worst ) is My Foot, WU!x3, and then Good dreams.
But if your lacking some earlier albums that are a sin not to own (TYMT), then you need them. :D
So like I said, tell me whatcha got and I'll give ya more to look for. :)
PS: NICE TO SEE ANOTHER FAN!

How'd you get Scent of Sweet? Do you have Another Morning, Another Pillows?
Anyways, yeah, those are some great songs you got there. Last year, I was in your shoes, with only about 70 songs by them. If you tell us what albums you have, we can lay out the recs.

Nice stuff, is that all legal, or DL's? I only ask because the Carnival single is pretty rare compared to the rest of um.
Anyway, you have a fairly extensive collection. Very nice.
You'll probably want to check out some of their really old stuff. Climbing on the Roof from Fool on The Planet is an example. Notice how it's kinda out of place from the rest on the CD.
Check out Living Field, Moon Gold, White Incarnation, and Kool Spice in that order. And then 90's My Life and Pantomime if you can find it or DL them.
Also check out the new singles and Album. Great stuff. Scarecrow is amazing as are the other two singles, and WU!x3 is VERY good.
Its up to you where you want to go first, to the present or the past. Or both.

A mix, some stuff is pretty hard to come by or costs an arm and a leg.
I have check out the earlier stuff via DL, not really to my liking, but I should give it a re-listen. Definitely will check out the newer stuff, I really like the the style of music, a nice relief from all the other types of music I have.
