Nanoha A's- one of the best magical girl shows ever created. Better fights then the last 100 episodes of bleach and naruto combined
QFT, ep 1 alone is more intense than anything from naruto's last five thousand episodes. CARTRIDGE LOAD!!!

Really?
I just finished Lovely Complex, and I would say it was my favorite series of the Spring season, and one of the best romantic comedies I have seen in quite a while. The main storyline does drag just a bit in the middle, and the last few episodes seem just a little rushed but the characters and the comedy are just so good you almost don't notice. I highly recommed it to any fan of romantic comedy anime.

Finally finished this one after a couple hiatuses here and there. The word I'd use to describe this show is "fun." Great fun, actually. Nothing too engaging story-wise, but the insane resolve of the characters and just the grand scale of every single thing that happens is this series really make up for the pretty average story. The second half of the show is of vast contrast to the first half, and is the half that I liked the most. Things got much bigger and crazier in this half as well. And while I say that the "epicness" was lots of fun, it also began to wear on you the longer the show went. That's one of the main flaws I see with the series. Also, due to how epic everything was, it rendered much of what happened toward the end of the series totally incoherent. So you just had to go with the flow and not pay too much attention to the details. That much really wasn't too bad of a problem, per se, but it did get in the way sometimes. But anyone watching the series would know that that was the way it was "supposed" to be, so it's easy to get over. There's also the issue of the huge cast, most of whom we get to spend no good amount of time with. So whatever happens to them, it's hard to care about.
The last episode was pure insanity. I mean, they were using galaxies as weapons. Enough said about that.
Overall this was a pretty good show that I enjoyed my time watching.

It may be good, but I feel that storyline was little rushed as well. I really can't stand Risa for some reason. It have lots of funny moment, at least. I guess I have to re-watch it again, huh? My favorite genre are romance and romance comedy, so I should enjoy it. Unfortunately, I found out that series was alright. It's not best romantic comedies to me. As you said, we have different taste after all. ;)

Tengen Toppa Gurren-Lagann - post-post-post-apocalypse, GAINAX version. Insane show, it's worth watching once, but allegories had more meanings in FLCL, parodies were more hilarious in Abenobashi, art was better in GunBuster-2, music was simply bad (especially noise in ED), the plot was too silly to my taste.

An anime based around the world of Rifts would very interesting, I could easily see the Japanese doing something interesting with a world like that one.

Maison Ikkoku- Its hard reviewing titles like these, you'd need a book worth of writing to describe it. For starters its one of the more mature romance comedies(genre I'm not particular too) I've seen, in fact I haven't seen many like it(Touch is the only one that comes to mind). A cast thats almost too perfectly assembled and just seemd to click fluidly, Yotsuya's gotta be one of my favorite side characters of any anime. No character is really left out of developing or simply tossed aside, they all have issues & lives and are not just their to be a pain in the *** to poor Godai. At moments when it feels like its dragging into monotony it quickly adds new misunderstandings or love interest that propels it into a new and often interesting direction. My gripes would have to be the length but in turn its also the series greatest strength. Because its so long everything fleshes out and matures slowly as if it were in real time, it made the love connection feel more real. Although the movie was a nice touch I really didn't care for the animation all that much. As a whole this is definitley the best of the best of its time and genre(though I am a slightly bigger fan of Touch), recommend it to everyone both fans and non fans of the genre. But be prepared for a long journey.

Good news!
I finally finished my marathon viewing of Cardcaptor Sakura. (And my girlfriend hasn't left me yet :P )
I must admit that this series truly captured my heart. After seeing parts of the dubbed and severely edited version (whose putrid name I shall not utter in this place) I wasn't too excited to watch any more. However, a friend of mine showed me the first uncut episode and I was hooked.
When the artwork of CLAMP, the animation of Madhouse and a truly talented A-list voice cast come together, miracles happen. This is a must-see series for the serious anime fan. In other words, I loved it and will watch it again.

El Cazador de la bruja - One of my top anime this year, it was a terrific ending to a very entertaining series. Nadie is probably one of the best female characters i have come across, she is cheeky, smart and tough, but kind as well. A good story about true friendship, among other things. Rewatched Last Exile. I've yet to see an anime of this caliber (meeting my expectations lol). Come to think of it, I don't think I've seen any other animes where I've actually liked the ending as much as Last Exile.

^^ & ^^^ What was the last anime series you completed watching? ;)
The last series I finished was Cardcaptor Sakura. Once I hit ep 60 I really didn't want to stop. My eyes started watering in ep 69 when Kerberos and Yue had themselves absorbed so that Sakura could transform Light and Dark. I continued like that until the scene in the airport and when "Platinum" started playing I really was crying. :'( And the last moment when Sakura said:
I'll see you again, right...?
I wonder why they attached the sonf "Fruits Candy" on the end, it would have been more effective if it just finished after the final line.
It was still a little inconclusive though... perhaps the movie will clear that up. And I wonder what Tomoyo will do now...

Black Lagoon - action in American style (extreme bloody violation, bad language, cool boys and girls, all that stuff). Black-skinned Dutch boss, blond Jew hacker, redhead Chinese gun-girl, military Russian mafia, sentimental Yakudza... Adventures of those losers were entertaining. Interesting, they didn't translate some Russian phrases. Was it supposed that watchers understand it? Pronunciation was better on Japanese track and they didn't use any bad language here, it isn't typical for military. Art was very good, plot had nothing impressive, music was so-so (there was a couple good compositions), psychological justifications were bad.
Shakugan no Shana (movie) - retelling. The series was better, though there was some new material.

I just finished watching the series Happiness! last night. This series stalled quite a while ago, when the only group subbing it disappeared and I had pretty much given up on it ever being finished. In the last week, though, another group picked it up and released the last half-dozen episodes over the course of a few day. Quite supprising!
In the end, this wasn't a particularly exceptional series. The artwork and animation were at best average, and the story and characters were a bit shallow. Probably the best part of the whole series was the character of Jun (anyone who has seen the first couple episodes will understand why).
http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a144/impz/happiness3-3.jpg
Jun was only a supporting character, but was probably the most interesting and likeable of them all. :naughty:

Potemayo
I started watching this on a whim a while ago while looking for something light hearted, and I found it. At 12 episodes, this show is short but sweat, offering good characters and hilarious moments. Whole it doesn't come out and explain everything (like Potemayo and Guchuko), after the final episode, you can get an idea of exactly what they are (how they came about, well, who knows.) Episode 12 lays on some drama that seems unexpected, but really not too surprising given events leading up to it. I liked the ending though...
Guchuko's child was adorable, however, Potemayo's looked like it was smoking something...good luck to her and Sunao raising that thing.
While a 2nd season isn't necessary, I wouldn't mind another 12 episodes of this stuff. I'll give the show a Very Good.

Detonator Orgun
I picked this up a few months ago, it was cheap, and since I was playing SRW W at the time, I was interested in the story, but never got around to it till now. Anyway, I found it to be a good show in general, nothing special, but I enjoyed the cast, story and action of this short show. The music was also pretty good, especially the credit music and Orgun's theme song. I'd say it was worth the 10 bucks I spent to pick it up.
On a side note unrelated to the show, if you select Special Features on the DVD Menu, good luck trying to get anything else to work effectively aside from playing the movie, as all other menu choices lead back to that menu after you've checked it once.

The Girl Who Leapt Through Time - I liked a lot of anime from 2006, as a whole it was a massive improvment voer 2005 imo and had a lot of great series in different genres. The crown jewel of the 2006 class though has to be the Madhouse produced future classic, "The Girl Who Leapt Through Time".
It just effortlessly hit all the right spots with me, the best character animation I've seen in anime period, the voice acting was just superb, they sounded like teenagers as opposed to anime actors, bgm was great and loved the insert song. The plot while simplistic was just great and touching. Masterpiece
Zero no Tsukaima - I think how much you end up liking this series will largely depend on how you feel about the characters. In my case I loved the cast and it's easy to look over it's faults (when not to glarring like some in the 2nd season...) when you do. Louise is just awesome and is my favorite Kugimiya Rie Tsundere role by quite a margin. Saito is better than 99.9% of harem male leads and the supporting cast is pretty good. While this only ended up getting a Very Good rating I probably enjoyed it more than a few titles I ended up rating Excellent. Very Good
Zero no Tsukaima: Futatsuki no Kishi - New director is a hack, some scenes and moments are still great but the constant overuse of boob and explosion jokes got old fast. Some real nice fan service scenes though (catsuit, princess in ep 6!) which of course came from the original source material though unlike all the lame boob jokes. Half of Ep 12 was just great... you will believe someone can walk into Mordor lol... the last minute.... director needs to be shot. Good

Hunter X Hunter - My final thoughts are a bit mingled because it ended right where it's been peaking in story quality... but in general I consider this show to be much better than Yu Yu Hakusho. The four main characters are likable, and it's still very much an adventure story rather than a generic fighting show. I'm glad they stopped in the middle instead of just creating endless amounts of fillers... like that other show did.
Akagi - Incredibly stylish, from the art style to the whole yakuza element of things. If you don't know the first thing about Mahjong, you'll be sucked into the psychological battles that stem from it. These games happen to be very exciting, all things told. The only downfall of this series would be just like HXH, is that it ended on a very large cliffhanger. If they cut out the episode where Akagi explained how he won a single round and gave us an epilogue on ep 26... I would have been more than satisfied. Still, despite that small shortcoming, this is a very high end show.

Lucky ☆ Star
Finished the last 6 episodes this morning. Another great show by KyoAni, who seem to make shows I enjoy consistently. My favorite characters would have to be Konata and Kagami, their interaction with each other had some of my favorite moments in the entire series. I also liked their friend who drew the doujins (can't remember her name), but scenes with her were amusing, especially when Yutaka asked her about Yaoi. Really, once again too many parodies and in-jokes to count, which I can assume I only caught a fraction of which, but I really liked whenever they parodied or joked about Haruhi, especially the fortune telling in episode 24, plus references to Air and Kanon were amusing, especially the credits with Potato and Sora. The dance scene in 24 was pretty cool, maybe not Hare Hare Yukai level, but enjoyable all the same, though it would've been nice to see the live version. And hey, it has hot-blooded Tomokazu Seki, you can't go wrong with that. Well, if it does get licensed over here, I plan on picking up the DVDs, since its a good show that I definitely wouldn't mind re-watching again at some point down the road. In the end, I'll give it a Very Good and it'll go into my Favorites section on ANN.

I just finished Umisho and Simoun last night.
I enjoyed Umisho so far. Lots of hilarious scenes. Of course, lots of WTF moments. Hopefully, it will have the second season someday. Good
Simoun have great music and interesting characters. I really loved the ending and I nearly cried during the ending. It felt hauntingly depressing to me. Overall, this series was very great. It have a good storyline and ending, and I really loved it so far. Each main character have their own character development. My favorite characters are Aaeru and Neviril. The Emerald Ri Mājon was interesting as I thought. Few questions I need to answer, so I guess I will PM to Mr. Tines. I would recommend this series to yuri fans. Masterpiece

As fansubbing of Spring and Summer shows continues to wrap up, I finished three more series:
El Cazador de la Bruja - This turned out to be a pretty good action/adventure series, with hints of shoujo-ai mixed in. The two main characters were interesting and likable. The only complaint (if I can call it that) is that the final episode was pretty pointless. The climax to the series occured in ep 25, and the whole of ep 26 was just an epiloge, that could have been done in the last 10 minutes of the final episode. Still, the whole series if not exceptional was worthwhile and enjoyable. :)
Kenkō Zenrakei Suieibu Umishō - A fun, ecchi comedy series, with a little bit of romance thrown in for flavor. The ending strongly hinted at a possible second season (as the team qualified for the national swimming championships), and I would certainly welcome another one. My favorite character has to be the girl Shizuoka, a shy, easily embarrassed, closet pervert.
Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha StrikerS - The longest of the three Nanoha series at 26 episodes, it also had the largest cast of characters. Some of the "training" episodes did seem to drag on a bit, but a lot of that time was spent introducing and developing the numberous new characters in this season. I think that might be the main flaw of this series, in that there were just too many characters, all with their own separate motivations, backstories and plot threads. In the end, the message of all three Nanoha series are the same, if you love someone, beat the living hell out of them to show it. :P
So, all in all, three good ones in a row! ^_^

I finished Umisho - It was a really funny series, i usually don't go for fanservice shows but this one used it in such a comical/parody fashion that it didn't bother me. I really liked at the very very end when they kiss, it was about time :)

Oh, I normally enjoy epilogues, too. I just thought that an entire episode for an epilogue was a bit too much. It wasn't like it was terrible or anything, I just thought that it was a poor... directorial decision. :naughty:

Toward the Terra - another post-apocalyptic series, remake of very old anime movie (1980). It was good enough to watch once. The plot was a bit silly for scifi. The art looked simplified and was outsourced abroad, I think. The music was OK, exclude crappy pop in OP in first half of series - I could bare it only ones. ED "Love is..." was very good - rip off "Pachelbel's Canon", it reminded me "Komm, susser Tod..." somehow. Characters were alive, but their behavior was unnatural sometimes.

That's a bit surprising in my opinion, though I probably won't enjoy Nanoha StrikerS nearly as much as you seemed to have once I get around to watching it, if you ended up giving it a Masterpiece. Then again I'm looking at your ANN list and see Masterpiece next to a lot of stuff that I only thought was good and etc. To each our own opinions, but maybe you should check out something like Monster or something and then maybe you'll really see what a true Masterpiece is. Your rankings are very interesting to say the least, but we all have our own opinions as I said.

We have the different taste on genre, characters, storyline, etc. I was supposed to rate Excellent on Claymore since it have the poor ending, but it's not bad, IMO. Of course, I put lots of Masterpiece on anime. It's because I have a good reason to put it. I did looked at your ANN, and I found out that you rate Masterpiece on Dragonball and Dragonball Z while I rate Not really good on Dragonball Z and Dragonball GT.
Let me explain why that I rate Masterpiece on Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha StrikerS.
It have a soild storyline and great characters. New and returning characters have their own character development and it's done. It may have lots of training, but they need to have more training so they can protect their comrade, otherwise, they don't know what they do. That's why Nahoha have to teach them a lot. It have awesome fights and each characters have cool magic attacks. The weak points are Hayate didn't show her true power and Zafira don't change his true form. >_> If I didn't watch CCS as Magical Girl, I will probably never watch the Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha for sure.
As you said earlier, we have our own opinions. ;)

Devil May Cry - THis was a so-so anime that is a good time filler. It didn't have much a of a plot to speak of and tried waaaaay too hard to be cool and stylish. I liked the character personalities of Dante, Patty, and the multi colored eyed Lady tho. I think maybe with a little less victory poses and overwhelming power from Dante, and 12 more eps it coulda been good.

It all depends on how you were exposed to the series, and what version you watched. This is most likely the case with you and pretty much a lot of other people. GT is **** in both languages so it really doesn't matter.
DB/DBZ never gets a fair ranking. It's like judging One Piece based off of the 4 kids dub. Not going to be a positive judgement at all.

I just finished Nanoha StrikerS and while it's the worst entry in the Nanoha franchise it's still good enough to recieve a Very Good rating in my eyes at least. One of the main strengths of the Nanoha franchise is that the antagonists are usually well developed and unfortunately that's just not the case with this series. I know they got double the amount of episodes compared to past series but there was no need to more than double the already large cast of characters. Not only did a lot of villains get next to no development they ended up shafting a lot of the cast from the first two seasons.
Subaru the new main protagonist really only stood out in one episode in the entire series for me, that episode being #17 which also happens to be my fav episode from all 3 series of Nanoha.
I still liked a lot of stuff and I'll definitely be ready for the 4th season which I'm sure is coming since each Nanoha season has managed to more than double it's previous in DVD sales.

Darker than Black - This anime was great, very good writing, art and animation. It was overall very tragic, like Gunslinger Girl, but had a bit of a meatier plot to it. Some of the characters were really engaging and well developed, they didnt just leave characters flat, even seemingly bit players. Loved the police woman Misaki ( i think), she was awesome (and a looker too), and Yin was so cute, especially when she made herself smile :). I am glad at the end she was with Hei.

G Gundam- I knew this show was down my ally ^_^ epic battles, one liners, manly tear moments, over the top attacks and characters. Its strength lies in the battles and raw intensity, the art can be a bit sketchy(especially during fights) but thats just its own unique style. Plot-wise is actually pretty decent, the Devil Gundam was just one of those nemesis that just would not go away no matter who was controlling it. Though Master Asia has burned a small place in my heart for favorite villians. My only gripes would have to be the final ep.which was almost too cheesy for me(love love final attack -_-; ), and as great as the battles were at times I would have liked to have seen more of a deeper connection between the characters beyond the fights(maybe thats a bit too much to ask for with this show). There was more than enough action & epic moments throughout the series for me to overlook those things. Though not quite as godly as GGG, it was enough to quench my thirst. A very different approach to the Gundam universe and you'd probably would have to be a hardcore mech/action fan to really get into it but worth a try nontheless.

Idolmaster Xenoglossia-Very unique title based off a game; considering theres hardly any back story on the plot or any characters(only gripe) it turned out pretty good, with so many charcters I guess that would be asking for too much. A strong story with Haruka being a very likeable main character, had its serious and fun moments with surprisingly not alot of angst(a plus for me). Another plus would be the interesting mech designs that gave equally interesting battles. Good pacing from beginning to end, feel good finale that felt wrapped up. Definitley one of the more overlooked shows of last season, recommend to just about everyone. Like I said don't expect much background from what I mentioned above but its still holds its own.

Crest/Banner of the Stars I, II, III, Birth - enjoyable scifi series. One of the worst dubs I've watched, when sub was good. OVAs (Crest of the Stars: Birth and Banner of the Stars III) were the best of the series. Next was Crest of the Stars. Banner of the Stars I and II were mediocre and deteriorating to the end. Plot was silly in many parts (coffins on orbit  or prisoners evacuation, for example). Stupidity of boy and girl... eh, noblemen... was charming infinite, girl was a bit better though. Unfortunatly, it left a lot of plot thread dangling for the second season (Himawari!! <-note the second "!"), which was broadcast in January 2007 but, as far as I can determine, no one has bothered to fansub it. Ergo Proxy and Air - Both Masterpieces, even if they are about as different as you can get :)
Ergo Proxy- was a little confusing at times but in the end i think it all came together very well and makes a lot of sense, well except maybe ergo's very last statement. I loved the dark and gritty style, because they mainly pulled it off in a believable way (in other words, they didn't come off as trying to be gritty and dark just for the sake of being that way). I love Pino, awesome character if i ever saw one, and cuteness rating is off the charts :)
Air - I had put this off for like a year because people told me that the ending was so catastrophically depressing that i might kill myself. Well, it was an awesome anime, and no sadder than the kanon makoto arc. I think people were exaggerating a lot. I cried yes, and it was dramatic, but it was good and didn't leave me depressed.

I think people were exaggerating a lot. I cried yes, and it was dramatic, but it was good and didn't leave me depressed.
I'm sure this varies from person to person, but I personally felt Air was much more depressing than Kanon 2006.
After watching Air, and the heartwrenching and pathetic death of Misuzu, I was literally depressed for days. The fact nothing was accomplished, that her soul was no closer being released from her curse just made it that much more tragic and hard to accept.
In Kanon 2006 wathing Makoto slowly fade away was just as heartwreching, but becuase the ending of the anime was more up-beat, and everyone survived (including Makoto, although returned to her original form as a fox), the feeling was not so depressing for me.
There's no doubt they are both excellent series, though. :)

What is everyone waiting for? Major rocks fellas... I wouldn't lie, you know? The glorious high school years are all but wrapped up and it's so cool to watch this kid grow from about 5 years of age till the very end of HS. Now with season 4 only a few months from airing (I can't wait) we're heading to the pro game which should be very exciting and different from the rest. You know you want to watch it.

I just finished Kaze no Stigma today. It's a good series, and it have lot of hilarious moments and romance moments. I really enjoyed it so far. I think it will have the second season because the ending certainly left the story open. Kazuma's past was very interesting to me. It need to have more character development on few characters. I actually thought that all people know about Kannagi, but I am wrong about that. Kazuma is very funny and Katherine, Tsuo Rin, and Ayano are very cute. I personally liked it. Excellent
That scene almost make me WTF:
Kazuma want to know about Tsuo Rin's last thoughts, and Lapis said, "Kazuma, I want to kill you."
One question I want to know:
Is Tsuo Rin a mage? If not, why she was sacrificed even she isn't a mage?

Actually She was closer than ever before this time around, because the dude used the will of his ancestors to make it possible for him to be with her as a crow (crows too are said to carry messages from this world to the next like her, hence the bit at the end) so she isn't going to be alone. Also she got to be loved by her mom, which is really all she wanted anyway.

I finally finished watching Gunbuster last night. Overall, it was a very good series, but not without a couple of serious flaws. To my mind the worst problem was it really suffered from being only 6 episodes. Much of the development of the characters and story seemd rushed and incomplete, and could have benefitted from more time. It's too bad it could not have been done as a 12-13 episode series, instead.
Second, was the fact that the last episode was mostly in B&W. I'm not sure if they were trying to acomplish some sort of artistic vision for that episode, but to me it just seemed cheap. It was like they ran out of money and were trying to pad out the last episode with lots of sketches left over from the storyboarding. Meh.
A classic, perhaps, but IMO it unfortunatly falls well short of being a masterpiece. :naughty:

Uninhabited-planet-survive
I went into this series hoping for a story about people trying to survive on a planet that they knew nothing about. Trying to find food and water, building somewhere to live and helping each other though the hardships and this series didn't disappoint me one bit. I wasn't that happy that they went away from this a bit half way though the series but the changes in the focus were handled well and added to the overall story without completely changing things to much. I loved the characters and they were all very different from each other but all came together to help each other make it though each day. Thats the main thing to take away from this series, that if you have friends you can help and count on and if you do the same for them you will make it though the hard times and come out of it together.
I thoroughly recommend this series to anyone who wants a story about friends banding together and trying to survive in a unfamiler place.

Last Exile - One of the best series i have seen in a while, very good. After i watched all the episodes I have absolutely nothing to complain about in this series. Pretty epic story, great action, drama, slight romance, comedy, good animation, good artwork, nice conclusive ending. I was sad to see some of the characters bite it, some of which died very anti-climatically considering, but even that makes sense and adds to the gritty sorta flavor. I think its funny the 'Guild' are just like "THe Third" from my favorite anime The Third: Girl with the Blue Eye. Clearly done by the same people. If you haven't seen it, i suggest you do.

Incredible. That's all I can say about this show, is Incredible. The characters, the story, the music, the fights, the comedy, everything was just incredible. I cannot recall ever getting so pumped up for fights in any series like I did in this one, especially the final match, which was just epic.
The rematch against Sendo was so damn epic, I was pumped up before the bell even rang, and that carried over through the entire fight. I haven't been that excited watching anything, real life or on television, in a very long time.
Hajime no Ippo Champion Road
Good fight here, Ippo never fails to impress. More amusing antics from Takamura, Aoki and Kimura. And Liver Blow > Gazelle Punch > Dempsey Roll Combo FTW!
Kimura vs. Mashiba
Damn good OVA, the fight was pretty intense. I didn't know who would win till the very end. Great stuff.

The best part about the last fight is how long it was built up for. You get a whole volume worth of pre-fight preparations and you're about to explode with anticipation. Claymore - sea of blood, hills of bodies. Very impressive anime, though a bit disappointing in the end. Dramatic and tense plot - they are living in terrible world. Art is very good, cool girls fighting monsters provide great opportunities, but some transformations look silly in my opinion. Background music is great, but opening and ending can't be worse. Overall, it is very good anime... I need some light comedy now... with music of the same composer as BGM, preferable... WOW... What a choice...

Turn A Gundam-This was very enjoyable, a different approach from what Tomino has put out in the franchise. Very light hearted in the carnage and major death department, which I liked cause it gave us an
opportunity to get attached to the characters. Loran(very likeable), Sochie(not so much) and Harry being my favorites among the group. In terms of plot and characters no one aspect of this show really stood out(besides the Turn A which grew on me), it was just sit back and watch this thing unfold. Story was an similar fashion to others, faction vs faction, prejudice, world ending weapons, etc. Though the whole Kihel/Dianna switch and Guins shifty nature added a little more depth to it. Loved the references from other series that were thrown in too  Thought the the end was very odd, plausible but really left us to intepret a few things. Not my favorite in the gundam world(Zeta, 0079 still tops) but definitley a worthy addition. A good watch for any gundam fan.

Baccano! - Delightful series with a large and wonderful cast of characters. With the multiple stories taking place in multiple time frames it's great as you progress through the series to put everything together. One of the most fun anime titles I've seen with some great action and comedy scenes with its strongest points being the characters and narrative. I'm praying for light novels 5-13 to be animated and looking forward to the DVD only episodes. Rating = Masterpiece.
Candy Boy ONA - I really enjoyed this and I'm hoping a tv series is announced sometime in 2008. Very short so it's hard to rate but I'll give it a Good.
Highlander Vengeance - Nice animation by Madhouse and even though I liked Highlander this really didn't do much for me, ending was way to cliche as well... Rating = Weak
Terra E - Another great anime from the stellar Spring 07 season... one word to describe Terra e would be epic. The two main characters Jomy & Keith are wonderfully developed throughout the series which spans half a generation. Supporting characters are also very well done and the plot/stpry was nice, Keith left me guessing at what he would do next a few times. Music is also one of the best for the year, episodes 21+22 were awesome but I felt the ending while decent was a little lacking. Rating = Excellent

Princess Tutu: If you loved Revolutionary Girl Utena or adored The Vision of Escaflowne, I fear I cannot recommend this series enough. It doesn't even have any filler episodes! Wai! It's one of those sophisticated magical girl shows: an exploration of roles in a fairy tale versus roles in real life. Past episode 12 it doubles in intensity, but it's not a series that drags up until then. I believe it's also a different waltz from what the manga was, and the creators left myriad little secrets for attentive people to discover...
Samurai 7: Definately a samurai flick, up to the white OWARI on screen at the end. While the original Kurosawa film commented on the lot of the samurai-turned-ronin in a warless age, Samurai 7 adds in the lot of the merchant, whose monetary power challenges the status power of the samurai. This is all from Japanes history, people! Anyway, found it built on the classic nicely, and with some neat sci-fi concepts mixed in.

Cardcaptor Sakura TV - 70 episodes of fun. Sakura goes from always asking for help from Kero to figuring solutions on her own or taking charge with the Sakura cards, seeing her powers increase and how Sakura and Shaoran's relationship came about. The song when Sakura activates her wand? got stuck in my head for a while I watching this series :) I found myself looking forward to seeing what the next card would look like, what it could do etc. ( really liked the designs for the cards).
Tomoyo may be cute but I found her to be quite odd due to the whole Videotaping of Sakura's adventures and then watching them again in her home theater lol :P Still some of those costumes were cool looking (I found them all Interesting at the very least).

Not too bad of a series, though it could've been better. The characters were good, but they all could've afforded a bit more character development. The series rushes itself at the end though, and tells the real important part of the story in 3 episodes. If they had given the series maybe even just 2 more episodes of time to work with, it could've been a little better. Mecha designs were alright, nothing I had complaints with. Music only stood out on a few occasions, but I liked the OP and ED themes. Once again, nothing really special, but fun to watch. Fine.

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann
I was planning on spreading this out over 3-4 days, but I got hooked around episode 6 and didn't look back, watching it till the end at around 4am. The show is easily some of Gainax's finest works, next to Gunbuster and Evangelion. The characters are memorable and many of them great, love'em of hate'em. Simoun, Kamina, Yoko and Nia were great characters, but of course, many of the supporting characters also played major roles and many managed to stand out. The music was excellent and fit the show perfectly (though, some of the choices were indeed odd, like "Libra Me From Hell", which I'll add was an absolutely awesome song). And the fights...the fights were so damn epic. I can't recall how many times I said to myself "did they really just do that?", the scale and awesomeness of the fights blow just about everything else I've seen out of the water, especially the final fight. The mecha themselves were also awesome, especially the many times Gurren Lagann upgrades itself, and the various Ganmen also had great designs. The show gave me goosebumps on multiple occasions and got the adrenaline rushing during certain battles as well. And what do I get, one of the best mecha shows I've seen, only matched by Gunbuster. It wouldn't be too much of a stretch to say that the past 30 days have been some of the best when it comes to watching anime in my life to date. Hajime no Ippo, Byousoku 5 Centimeters and Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, such great shows. Masterpiece

After War Gundam X
Thus ends my viewing of Gundam X, the second Gundam series I've watched that took me over a year to fully view. Gundam X is, in my opinion, definitely one of the better entries in the franchise, alongside G Gundam, Turn A, and Zeta. Like G and Turn A, X does something different from the traditional Gundam mold, and it does it very well. Garrod has to be one of my favorite Gundam pilots in the franchise, and Shagia and Olba are probably some of the best antagonists the franchise has seen as well. It did end rather abruptly, something I was sad to see, but since it wasn't the creator's fault the show got canceled 10 episodes early, I won't fault it for that. Excellent.

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya
What can I say that hasn't already been said? I spent about $200 on this, I'm wasting over twice as much space on my shelf as I should with four DVD cases, and I ended up watching the series in chronological order anyway, thereby making my investment in the LEs a total waste. Still, it was a good series; even the token moeblob Mikuru wasn't as annoying as, say, Orihime from Bleach.
No, this doesn't mean I'm investing in any other KyoAni titles other than the eventual sequels to Haruhi and Full Metal Panic.

Meh, what a boring series. The characters, the action, the music, all of it was really boring, so much so that I practically had to force myself to keep watching the last two episodes. It was also horribly anti-climatic, here we have this big war that looks like will carry over to season two, but it doesn't even last half an episode. Its not bad, but its also not good either, and I doubt I'll watch season two. Average.

Yeah stay away from season 2.
Candy Boy ONA - sweet little 8 minute yuri. Since it was so short, I don't know what to think of it.

The war does carry over into season 2 but if you didn't like the first season of ZnT you should probably avoid the second like the plague. They try to cram 5 light novels into 12 episodes as opposed to the 3 used for season 1. Has horrible pacing, lame "anime original" boob jokes, spends too much time on a stupid side plot while rushing the big moments of the series in the last episode. They also decided to ignore the majority of the 8th novel which was pretty much full of character development and instead used one event from that to make a lame boob joke.

As I said to you earlier, the only thing remotely worthwhile in that show is to hear Rie Kugimiya, and then that's not even worth the trouble of watching it. You'd be better off watching Shakugan no Shana just for that.

Dennou Coil.
Which didn't fall apart during the big reveal, unlike many anime (Higurashi Kai, I'm looking at you).
There was a "Go on, kiss her you idiot!" moment just before the ED credits ran, but then they just had to do an epilog.

Code Geass
Marathoned the whole series and was impressed. I hope the dub is good, but the original voice work was amazing, as was the animation. I didn't think I would like the show that much since CLAMP did the character designs but they grew on me. Can't wait for season 2. DAMN YOU CLIFFHANGERS!!!!!!!111111111111

The show itself was entertaining. Im not too happy with the way the 7th volume ended though. I'd like to read the manga and see the differences between the two.

Mai-HiME
Its funny, because I dropped this after watching Otome, and assuming HiME sucked just as hard. Of course, five episodes in, and I wished I could have pulled a marathon. I finished 14 through 26 basically in the span of one night, although over the span of two days. (Downloaded 14-20 and watched, later that day, watched 21-26). I'm probably going to buy the DVDs when I actually get the money, its well worth it.
And if its one thing I got from the series, is that Batshit crazy lesbians equal for lolz.

After War Gundam X
Thus ends my viewing of Gundam X, the second Gundam series I've watched that took me over a year to fully view. Gundam X is, in my opinion, definitely one of the better entries in the franchise.
Between other ongoing series, I have been watching Gundam X lately. I watched the first half-dozen or so episodes, and I have to agree that it's quite good. For some reason, the Gundam series are something that I want to like, but so many of them just don't really click with me. This one for whatever reason has and I'm looking forward to watching more of it. :naughty:

That's because Gundam X is the best in the entire franchise and probably only five other people in this world will agree with me. Want to be the sixth member?

The manga is still running for over 20 years. So it would be super long to make an anime and of course there wouldn't be an ending because there is no ending yet.
The TV series went longer than previous Guyver anime though and it ended at the end of a chapter and doesn't feel as large of a clifhanger as past Guyver anime.
Theres always a chance of more, I hope.
Oh, as for the manga. Viz has released only 7 volumes. A company in Singapore I believe has been translating past that though, but kinda hard to find/buy.

Genshiken & OVA & Kujibiki Unbalance OVA - not so good, actually, but funny and very educational. I wish they used more BGM from OST, which is pretty good.

Lord of Lords Ryu Knight TV
When something take me over two months to complete that just isn't a good sign. The TV series is a bit better than the OVA, just way too damn long. It's a very average adventure series and those should never be more than 26 episodes.
Can I get a temporary memebership in the group until I finish the rest of the series?
There is a long waiting list so i'll have to pull some strings. ;)

Gundam 0079 - This had the real war feel that all UC Gundam shows tend to have. The crew and Zeon alike both plan out missions and tactics as well as trying to get supply's. You also see normal people suffer with a lot of it off screen like losing so many colonies. The characters were a good bunch and amuro wasn't the hard as nails lead that you see nowadays in Gundam shows. He showed his emotions a lot throughout the series. The zeon couldn't even hit the guntank and whitebase a lot of the time which was funny as they arn't even moving half the time and the battleships of both sides shouldn't be destroyed by mobile suit weaponry so easily. Overall a good series.

Legend of the Galactic Heroes. Probably the best war series out there, and perhaps one of the best series, period. It's rare that a series can pull off character deaths to my satisfaction, but this one managed to do it right each and every time. It manages to hold a plot for its whole 110-episode run without seeming like it was being unnecessarily dragged out; They even cut out the OP and ED sequences for content space in some episodes, and cut out the commercial break time in the last 2 or 3 eps.

Pretty standard for the most part, but overall fun to watch. Good characters with good character designs, cute talking animals and all that jazz.
The second to last episode had some action, and it was surprisingly VERY nicely animated, especially considering the type of show. And the final episode ended up more sweet, (and i guess 'more emotional'), than I expected.
I'm really surprised that it hasnt been licensed here yet, as it seems like the type that would do well here.

As many had told me, Freddie Mercury was indeed in it. And weird as hell it may have been, and make no sense what so ever, it was hilarious. I particularly found the DVD menus of volume 3 funny as hell. It was like having Stephen Hawking tell me how a DVD works, total win.

Azumanga Daioh
Damn good, thats all I can really say. It started off a bit slowly, but once everyone got introduced and things started settling it, the 2nd half of the show really picked up and I laughed my *** off many times. Oddly enough, when I originally watched parts of Azumanga a few years back, I never cared for Kagura, but she ended up being my favorite character, followed by Chiyo-chan and Tomo. This show is indeed Excellent.

I just finished El Cazador de la Bruja. I wasn't too convinced in the begining, so I put the show off for a month. However, I picked it back up recently and enjoyed it very much. I love how Ellis is so positive about her feelings for Nadie. It's infectious, and nice for it not to be ambiguous for a change (looking at you Noir!).

The animation quality in that episode was absolute ****. I've never seen whatever you could possibly call what they did, done to a series before, and I'm not surprised that the studio that did it was FEEL.
You're confusing a fast slideshow with fluid animation. They're not the same thing. The characters bounce all over the screen with horrible gaps in their movement, but since they're moving so fast(even when it is completely out of place for someone or something to move like that), I guess it might give someone the illusion of being animated well. Didn't fool me for a second though.
The entire episode had forced, unnatural movement, that was sped up to cover up the massive imperfections. Hey that sounds like FEEL's mission statement.
I can only assume they slashed the budget for that episode to 1% of what it was for the other episodes.
