Just wondering really, I have been watching this series and have really enjoyed it so far, now as far as I really know, Bandai has never really been the type to realease a lot of the series into boxed sets or if they do it seems to be quite some time after the release that they do so. I have been renting the series and think it's something that I want to add to my collection. I would prefer to get the set version of it, if it's ever released, but I also don't want to wait 2-3 years for that happen, I can wait a year or longer if need be. What do you guys think, do you think I should just get the discs individually as cheaply as I can find them or should I take the chance and possibly wait quite some before it's released into a set.

I can't really make that decision for you. One the one hand, I bought the discs separately and spent a lot of money in the process. For all I know, Bandai could come out with a boxed set in the coming months and screw me over. On the other hand, if you do decide to wait, it could be a VERY long time before it is eventually released in a boxed set/thinpack. You have to make this decision based on how much money you are willing to spend.

Also, I know this may sound strange, but I was doing a search on Google images and came across three different instances with three different sites having the same empty SP box for sale. It was also the right proportions, or at least it looked like it could hold the dvds. Hmmm...

I'm sort of wondering this myself, since I am holding an interest in watching this series myself. On one hand, a boxset of Scrapped Princess may never happen, so I'd have to buy the individual volumes. On the other hand, if a boxset does get released, it will probably be at a cheaper price than the individual volumes.

So what I'd suggest is that if you have the money for it and think it's worth it, don't hold back and buy the volumes. Otherwise, just wait and pray for a boxset.

Well, the site that I noramally buy my anime from, with the coupons they give me and the free shipping with no taxes, I can get each disc new for $15.95. Which would make it about $100, it's kind of up there, but still cheaper than some. It's just it took them what almost 2 years to get the Argentosoma and Arjuna, Crest of the Stars out in cheaper sets. And look at Saber Marionette, how long did that one take them? I'm hoping that they might be jumping in with bandwagon on the set releases like most of the other companies have, that would be nice.

I hope so too. Bandai needs to get with the program already... I wan't my Gundam Seed boxset. And this of course.

But if you can get them that cheap, then go for it. It's still less than what most boxsets go for (other than thinpacks of course).

I wanted the figures and figurines that came with the individuals, so waiting for a box set wasn't an option for me.

An option is to buy an LE box (since it's LE),and wait for a set. If one appears within a reasonable amount of time, buy it and sell the spare. If not, buy the singles and put them in the LE box.

But I bought individual disks. Had to grow new limbs, but such a great show deserves it.

A LE box? This is the first time I'm hearing of this. But I did find a site selling volume one with an actual box, but it was Region 4, which I have no idea what country that is formatted for. So I have no idea if it is available in America or if it is even real.

There's no art box for the R1 release. Each disc says it comes with a box, but it's just the box holding the figure.

Bandai is pretty good about releasing series in a collectors set, but it's usually a brick rather than a real box set (I think). They also tend to wait at least a year or so before putting a series out in a collection. No worries about a $50 collection coming out within 6 months of the last disc. It won't happen, unless they decide to experiment with a new release tactic.

It turns out the Australians got a box for their dvds  It's pretty cheap, too, at only $40 (since it also contains the region 4 encoded volume 1 dvd). If anyone gets tired of waiting and wants the link, pm. I might even buy it.

Once I finish with the ending that will tell me if I'm going to get it or not. I'm up to episode 13 and I am really enjoying it, so more than likely I will just pick up the individual volumes. I have been doing really well on weeding out series that I would'nt like, so if anything, I think I can splurge this time around.

Hmmm? I don't think you said anything wrong. ::is a bit confused:: I just said there was no box for the dvds of Scrapped Princess in R1. The boxes that come with the discs are only to house the figures, not the discs, but I think they're listed as LE art boxes in the disc descriptions. It's confusing to the general public the way Bandai labeled them, though in theory you could force the discs into the boxes if you wanted to.

Those boxes are made for disks, and come with disks, although in theory, you could leave the figurine inside - unless you want to assemble it, after which it won't fit.

Yup, yup. Those boxes are not art boxes to hold the series. They're just packaging to hold it all together on the retail shelf. There was no art box made specifically for the dvds, hence much complaining by fans who want a box and thought they were going to get one with the last volume, only to find out they're not.

And don't call me "she".

When I said "she," I was referring to Crawlspace who earlier made the suggesstion about the dvds fitting into one box.

I recommend waiting for a while. Give it six months or so and see if you hear anything. In the meantime, watch for random deals on a couple volumes or so. I think Best Buy might have had one volume for $12 or so. Random volumes go on clearance in random places. Just keep tabs on some site's retail forums. I'm not naming names, but there are good places that watch for it. If you see several of the volumes go on clearance like that, then just start picking up the individuals. Then wait and see if a few of the others eventually pop up in clearance or break down and buy them at the $18 or $16 or whatever you find them at other sites. That's how I'd go about it, since with Bandai, the collection very well may be a crappy digipack or brick anyway.

But hell, it's up to you. If it were me, and I was gonna give the show another go through or two now, it's be worth spending the $50 or so extra. But I got more money than time on my side of things, so it's very rare for even shows I love to get that sort of viewing by me.

I still can't believe the region 4 dvds got a box.

They fit just fine, and there's space for two more.

Yea, but I'd rather have all six in one box. Shelf space is very precious.

Tiiba

But they are in one box. Although the box is way bigger than it needs to be. Maybe I'll put some random movies in those extra slots.

That's because it's NOT a box for the dvds. There was NO art box created for this series. If there was, the dvds would be a perfect fit and you woudn't have room for two dvds that don't exist. It's just a random box that happens to have Scrapped Princess written on the side, that was created to hold the figure and the disc on the retail shelf. None of those boxes were intended to hold the series dvds as an art box. It's fine if you use it for that, but that isn't the intent. Though seeing it on the shelf, it didn't look big enough to hold all of them. So much for that.

Regardless of whether or not you buy the individual discs or the box set, do yourself a favor and get it. I was so pleasantly surprised with the show that I bought all of the individuals. I got them at Best Buy for about $10 cheaper than Suncoast/Sam Goody, so I really only paid about $19/disc. It was well worth it. I liked the series a lot.

Is the english dubbed version good? & Why?

jedisolo

The English dub is excellent. Crispin Freeman does the voice of Shannon, Bridget Hoffman(is the English VA for Mizuho Kazami in Please Teacher) does the voice of Raquel and Kari Wahlgren does the voice of Pacifica. I thought it was excellent because those three are my favorite VA's. The dubbing was done by Bang Zoom! Entertainment. You know the dub is going to be good when it's done by that company.

I consider the dub one of the best ever made.
