No way! did you buy a bootleg or R2 release? or did you buy the OOP R1 release? I'm just curious because i want this series so badly, but I can't afford it because on ebay it easily goes over 100$ for the complete collection.

Anyways, the only thing I've bought is the xxxHOLiC starter set. Found it really cheap and couldn't pass it up. I have all the singles, just not the artbox, but now i do!

I read an article they are closing around 150 stores then another article that the website is no longer active.


As soon as im done with lunch im hauling *** back over there and see if I can score some season sets of Anime or Adult Swim show, and maybe some more wrestling stuff.


Maybe a boxset for LOTR, Pirates and Back To The Future. Just to have them.

I went back YET AGAIN to Suncoast tonight. They are now at 50% to 60% off everything and are about 50% sold out. Half the TV show section wall was wiped out and 1//3rd of the anime wall was gone. All the wrestling ppv's were gone but that didn't matter, I grabbed everything I wanted off it last week. The only other thing I saw worth grabbing but couldn't be bothered were the Simpsons season sets. Right now they are discounted to about $30 per season I think.


I was kinda annoyed that I passed on the big volume collector sets of Looney Tunes. They were $60 a piece and it consisted of 7 volumes. There long gone now.



Anyway I went back to the anime section, and my principle was this. I don't wanna grab stuff at random and I didn't want to only buy Volumes 2,4, and 7 out of a series that consists of 8 volume dvd's, cause then I gotta go hunt all over eBay and such and buy up the rest just so I can start watching them.


So here's the two complete series I grabbed tonight:


Black Lagoon Season 1 and 2 boxset. Originally $70 it was chopped down to $35.


Ikki Tousen: They had all 4 individual dvd's of the first 13 episodes at $15 and were cut down to $7.49 each.


Spent $69.50 and saved $65.00.



So now Ive got Bleach seasons 1-3 boxsets and the Diamond Dust movie. Season 1 and 2 of Full Metal Panic. Season 1 and 2 of Black Lagoon and season 1 of Ikki Tousen.


I haven't even started on any of the frikkin things yet:P Just keep going bat**** with the sales.



So FYE is pushing Suncoast out basically. Here's an interesting story about FYE. Years ago, 2000-2002ish, when I would go to the mall every month to pick up the latest 2 vhs releases of DBZ. The FYE store would put the videos to their shelves 2 days to a week BEFORE Suncoast, and the scheduled release date. Also, the volumes were discounted 25% AT RELEASE.


I still remember that to this day and also thought to myself "isn't there a law about not releasing movies before street dates, and is FYE gonna get fragged for it?"


FYE never had the volume of Anime like Suncoast back in the day. Haven't been in there store in years, probably 2003 at the latest. But there a music store. Kay Bee is history, no more toy stores, Funco Land, Babbages and Electronics Boutique is gone so you gotta go to Gamestop and hope they have what you want. FYE also shoved out Sam Goody, The Wall, Camelot Music and Record Town. The old style candy store is history as Godiva shops have shoved everybody else out the door, and now Suncoast the only store devoted to movies is on the threshold of extinction.



This is all probably tied into that new rule. They want ONE store to specifically deal with ONE consumer product. They don't want more than 1 music shop, 1 video store, 1 candy shop, or 1 video game shop. FYE covers 2 categories so that's twice as many stores they can chase out.


Also. Walden Books, the guys who are next door to Suncoast ALMOST got booted out of the mall because they only want 1 bookstore. They got a reprieve and are set for another season, but because of this Barne's And Noble is pulling B Dalton, their store, out of the mall.

Anyways, my anime came today, but the box was just too epic for the mailbox. The mailbox couldn't take how amazing the anime was. So, the MailMan was like,"I best be giving this to the people in the house."
so he rang the doorbell, and no one was home. So then he was like,"Dishrags! This box seemed pretty mighty, I bet the person who ordered it really wanted it. Well, I better give it to the post office."

As far as the DVD forum goes, I can't remember the last time someone did a DVD review (mini or in-depth), so if you (or anyone else) wants to start doing them, I think that would be great. I know I started the Upcoming Anime Release Dates threads because no one was covering it on the boards.

Bought the complete collection of Moribito today! $30 at Walmart! I had to doubletake at that... 'cause at Best Buy and the anime con I recently went to, I could only find 2-pack values (with 7-8 episodes on them) for the exact same price. Granted, the casing isn't as sturdy, but the price is worth it! I went looking it up online, and amazon has listed the price of the complete collection as ~$60. What a steal!

... Just opened the casing, and the first thing I noticed is that it's sturdier than what I expected for being made out of plastic. The second is that it has to be the strangest way I've ever seen a complete collection done. All 8 dvds are held by the same stabilizer (the center circle plastic thingy). So, basically, to get to the eighth disc, you need to take out all of the previous seven (all 8 are stacked on top of one another). I'm not quite certain what to think about it. O_o;;

Oh well, still $30. Perhaps, I'll buy the better packaging one later.

^That type of case is called a stackpak. Section 23/Sentai Filmworks uses those on some of their releases as well. I'm not fond of them, but I suppose they get the job done.

I hate stackpaks myself. They are pain in the but. They are being used not just in Anime dvds now. I know Ghost Hunters dvd and wrestling dvd that use them too. I was really sad to hear and see that adv/section 23 was using it too.

There is even more to the story I mentioned yesterday. The package didn't arrive till almost 7:30 and threw it out in the snow in front of my house in a bag. I actually spent a half hour on the phone to find out that the had left it and trek out in the snow to find it. I have a long drive way. The good news is that I don't know what was damaged other then label was wet I think. Nothing else was damaged. The dvds worked and there was no damage to packaging.

Since it's been lost somewhere in processing or stolen I order another copy of Dai-Guard Volume 6 elsewhere. At this point it was pre owned from AnimeNation web site or box set but place I ordered it other then where I ordered it that I trust.. It was either that or 38 box set. I still have volume 1-5 and they are not lost. I hope there isn't any problem with this one. Funny thing is that it seems the replacement for a lost copy now lost. Like someone else said elsewhere and the company says I can't do much till after 30 days except wait and scream. Not their fault there is corrupt or dumb or lazy mail men out there.

Second attempt to get replacement for the missing Dai-Guard Volume 6 came today. No problems really except by the mail box again. I think the problem it's post office in IA or wherever it is. I called was told well the shipment supposedly was consider a book or magazine and then are shipped last. Something is wrong there man.

Same here for me. Evangelion was fantastic, had already seen a fansub but the Blu-ray looked and sounded amazing. Can't wait to watch Gundam Unicorn, I'm near the end of ZZ Gundam and wanted to finish before watching it. I've put off watching ZZ for as long as I could. Not as bad as I had heard, but still doesn't hold a candle to the previous entries.

If you need dvd cases, you can buy 100 off eBay for $25 I do ALOT of burning of wrestling shows off Daily Motion and Youtube so I always keep 5 or 50 of them laying around^_^

hard to say. i actually had gotten the DC discs first after borrowing the originals from a friend and before i knew about the widescreen (and iirc they cut out the 1st ova's ending credits + music). afterwards i got the originals. i didn't mind having both sets since i enjoyed the ovas so much.

the originals do have some nice reversible covers, but i think there were some audio problems with the dub (i never watched it though, so i may be imagining things).

the DC has some slight extra footage but i'm not sure what they were or if they were significant.

I'm going to take your advice and keep the DC. I would think there will be another release at some point anyway (blu-ray would be cool), if not I could pick up the singles as well for a rewatch if I really like the show. For $40 it's not worth returning plus I don't mind supporting AN. Samurai based settings are my favorite so I really can't wait to watch.
