Decided to start a new thread since the other was getting a bit long. If you want to see the old thread, here's a link (http://www.animenation.net/forums/showthread.php?t=177169) to it.

Anyway, here some new release dates for Bandai, plus some price/date changes to some titles. Found this info on AoD.

Arjuna Anime Legends Complete Collection - April 25, 2006; $39.98; 325 minutes
Brain Powered Anime Legends Complete Collection - April 25, 2006; $49.98; 675 minutes

Mars Daybreak Vol. 4 drops from $29.98 to $24.98

Reschedualed

Outlaw Star Complete Collection moves from 1/24 to 3/28
Gundam Wing Complete Collection 1 moves from 1/24 to 3/28
Dan Doh!! Vol. #2 moves from 1/24 to 2/28
Cowboy Bebop Remix Vol. #5 is now TBA
Cowboy Bebop Remix Vol. #6 is now TBA

Here's the possible reason for the delays.

From AoD
Future Media Closes Doors? (07:52 AM EST): According to a blog post at Broccoli Books, their DVD replicator (Future Media) has closed its doors which will cause a 1-2 month delay in getting the next volume of Leave it to Piyoko replicated as well as a delay in the FLCL reprint as Future Media has all of their materials. Expect a ripple effect to continue as Bandai Entertainment uses Future Media as well.

FANTASTIC CHILDREN!!! Finally! I was starting to get worried with the lack of news or details about it. This is very good news and hope some of you guys check it out.

Fantastic Children Vol. #01 (also w/box) - 125 minutes - $19.98/29.98 - 04/11/2006

- Eureka Seven Vol. 1 w/box - April 25, 2006; $59.98; 125 minutes

Decided to check into this one as I was curious as to why the SRP is so high. It looks like it will also have a t-shirt, soundtrack and vol. 1 of the manga.

- Fantastic Children Vol. 1 w/box- April 11, 2006; $29.98; 125 minutes

From a thread I read a AoD, there won't be an artbox with Fantastic Children. This is actually a special edition that includes the soundtrack.

Angel Links Anime Legends Complete Collection - April 25, 2006; $39.98; 325 minutes
Arjuna Anime Legends Complete Collection - April 25, 2006; $39.98; 325 minutes
Brain Powered Anime Legends Complete Collection - April 25, 2006; $49.98; 675 minutes

I'm starting to lose interest in individual discs (mainly because of the cost compared to buying boxsets), so I may start collecting boxsets like these from now on. (I've always wanted to see Arjuna, so I will probably be picking that up. ^_^)

Fantastic Children Vol. 1 w/box- April 11, 2006; $29.98; 125 minutes

I've heard good things about this series, so I might pick it up when it comes out. ^_^ (I have a slight interest in Eureka Seven...but I don't think I will pick that up.)

Eureka Seven looks interesting, so I may get that.

I figured it must have some nice goodies for that price.

Arjuna's on my to get list. I wanted to get this a few years back, but kept putting it off, so the new set gives me new incentive. I tried to watch Fantastic Children, to see what all the hype was about, but couldn't get passed the first episode because I hate the majority of the character designs. May give it another try, though, just because of the price point and episode count.

I just watched the first episode of Eureka Seven and it looks interesting, I'm probably going to buy it, and the art box is really nice.

Question: So on AAAAnime, the Eureka Seven Box looks like its gona be exactly like the Ah! My Goddess Box release. Anyone have any thoughts on it?

If it is, personaly im not a fan of how you open it.

I can't wait for Fantastic Children, watched some of the fansubs & thought it was great(can't say I really understood it though:P). Why is the first volume only retail at $20? Is the episode count low? Well that price makes me happy anyway.

http://img527.imageshack.us/img527/4223/img9hp.jpg

The box that contains the first volume & soundtrack looks great, but I don't think the first volume cover looks that great, its kinda dull. More characters would look better in the cover.

[edit]- Oh, Eureka Seven looks interesting to me. I'm a mecha fan after all.

Hisoka
December 29th, 2005, 08:16 PM
$20? Ah... I didn't even notice that. That's a great price for 5 eps. :) Hopefully it isn't a misprint, but that should already tell you something... Bandai probably isn't expecting it to be a hot item because let's face it, it's not going to be.

Levon
December 29th, 2005, 08:23 PM
Damn, thats a great deal. I hope all or most of the volumes will be 5 episodes. Sadly I think Bandai is right if they are expecting it won't sell great since a lot of anime fans are closed-minded to anime that are ORIGINAL;) I like the character designs myself, they remind me of A Tree of Palme which I love the style & character designs of that movie.

Ah, Fantastic Children and Eureka Seven. Two titles I've been waiting madly for on DVD. I can't wait for these.

The Fantastic Children boxart looks great in my opinion. Don't know about the Eureka Seven box, but it's good enough.

Hurry up April!

There is no box I don't think, that "box" is just to hold the first volume & soundtrack. The artwork on that I love.

I meant boxart as in the artwork on every case/box in the image (soundtrack, v.1, OST/Vol.1 box, etc) -- even the standard volume 1 art. I think it looks quite good.

I remember hearing about Fantastic Children a while back. I saw a little bit of the first episode, but I never finished it. It was interesting, so I'll probably pick this up, especially for such a good price.

Levon
December 29th, 2005, 08:34 PM
Diddn't they stop dubbing Brain Powered half way through? Thats what I heard, for a company to stop production of the dubbing in the middle must mean it was failing in sales. Why would they release a brick of it I don't understand, it shouldn't be an "Anime Legends" collection. They should release a brick of Mobile Suit Gundam TV<_<

Hisoka
December 29th, 2005, 08:36 PM
I don't understand this re-release of Brain Powered either. It makes no sense. BP isn't popular in the slightest bit. The lowered the price for the singles about a year ago and that didn't even help. It's an awful series and I fully agree with you about releasing Gundam instead.

As for Fantastic Children, it will consist of 6 volumes with an MSRP of 19.98. and
Fantastic Children was actually a coproduction. Being such we had more control over the MSRP and could thus make it more affordable for the fans

Just gotta get the word out. But as we've already witnessed in this thread, some people aren't a fan of the art style. It's a shame that art styles play such a major role in how much someone enjoys something. It only takes me less then an episode to adjust to any art style. I tend to like things that look different as well. *Not pointing any fingers* lol.

Out of those:
Outlaw Star for sure, I knew there was a reason I was putting off buying it!
Maybe Arjuna
Maybe Gundam Wing if it's really cheap for nostalgia's sake.
And would someone mind giving a description for Fantastic Children? Sad to say, I've never heard of it. The cover art looks nice.

Eureka Seven (DVD) 1 w/ ArtBox (Special Edition) description:
A huge hit in Japan! Eureka Seven is ready and primed to repeat that success on American shores. A collaboration between powerhouse Studio BONES (Cowboy Bebop Movie, Escaflowne and Full Metal Alchemist), legendary mecha designer Shoji Kawamori (Macross and Escaflowwne) and Bandai Entertainment, Eureka Seven tells the story of a young boy named Renton, whose life just plain sucks. That is until a giant robot crashes into his house. Piloted by a girl named Eureka, this encounter will lead Renton to be pursued by the military and pulled into a web of drama, intrigue, and non-stop action. Renton’s time to daydream is over.
Special Edition includes: Limited Edition Collector’s Box, T-Shirt, Eureka Seven Vol. 1 Manga, and Eureka Seven Original CD Soundtrack!
125 minutes
Audio: English, Japanese
Subtitles: English

Box looks nice. Styled like the second ED animation.

I wasn't too serious about getting Brain Powered. :P I only listed it because it was a collection on the list (and I mentioned about started to buy only boxsets). I've heard the story wasn't good at all, so that definitely makes me lose interest in it. :P (I will consider picking up Eureka Seven...even though the vol. 1 w/art box is quite expensive. I may manage to buy it, though.)

All these great titles will definitely keep me busy for a while. On the other hand, I was hoping to start saving money for the PS3. It seems like you can only either have a great month filled with interesting titles or a bad month with only a few good shows. Rarely is there an in-between. April is going to be a great month, for sure.

Why is the retail price for Otogi Zoshi box 1 so much? It's a good thing they split it up because I wasn't the biggest fan of the Tokyo arc while I really like the Kyoto part.

From AnimeWorks! At the peak of the Heian Era, famine and disease tear the country apart, deadly assassins fill the court, and wild bandits infest the countryside. The legendary samurai Minamoto is sent on an Imperial quest for an artifact that can restore the world. But his skill with the bow cannot save him from illness, and his young sister is forced to take his place. As Hikaru Minamoto and her companions embark on a quest to find the Magatama to bring new life to Japan, her survival in the emperor's court depends on one thing — she must keep her true identity secret! Approximate running time: 325 minutes. Scheduled to ship in April 2006.

DVD (x6)..........$129.95It does look like they're spliting up the arcs for the boxsets and including the extras discs from the original releases. It still doesn't explain the price though. In total, I think I spent that much for Vol. 1 w/box and the other 5 double disc sets (each volume had an extras disc) as they came out.

From AoD

Tekkamen Details: Anime News Network has the breakdown from Media Blasters about what to expect from their release of the Tekkamen franchise. The Tekkamen release is the Saban dubbed and edited TV broadcast version of the 1990s that will be in three sets total. The article details plans for the uncut subtitled on version that will be out later in the year as the edits to the Saban version don't allow for an easily done bilingual version.

I went from "OH NO!" to "YEAH!" in less then a second. *Takes a breather*

Here is the article from ANN

Media Blasters will be releasing the first of three sets of the English dubbed Teknoman on May 30. Each set will be 14-15 episodes and will be "budget priced" at $59.95 (an average of $4.28 per episode).

Teknoman will be the Saban dubbed and edited TV broadcast version of the 1990s. A total of 43 English episodes exist and will be released by Media Blasters.

Due to the editing of the English language version, it wasn't possible for Media Blasters to release a subbed and dubbed version with the same video, so they will be releasing an uncut, sub only Tekkaman Blade later in 2006.

The Tekkaman Blade release will will be a special edition release with remastered video and all the extras from the Japanese LD and DVD sets.

There are 49 Japanese episodes, all of which will be released by Media Blasters.

Lately Media Blasters has been focusing on older titles as well as newer anime. Tekkaman Blade will join the likes of Giant Robo, Master of Mosquiton, Iczer and Saber Marionette R, all of which have recently been released by Media Blasters. Regarding Tekkaman Blade, John Sirabella, CEO of Media Blastersters, stated "Tekkaman Blade is one of the best hand-drawn high-budget robot animes to come out of Tatsunoko Pro studios (famed for Gatchaman, Speed Racer) and its release is long overdue."

Currently release details, date, and pricing for Tekkaman Blade are not yet available.

Here is what the email said in case anyone wondered.
The Tekkaman release will be english only as it will match the cut up one on TV but the month after the original Japanese with English Subtitles, Tekkaman Blade and all the extras of the Japanese dvds will be released the month after.

To sum it up, if you want this DVD, you'll have to order it directly from ADV.

From AoD
Right Stuf Pulls Prefectural Earth Defense Force (06:52 PM EST): Online retailer Right Stuf has pulled the ADV Films title Prefectural Earth Defense Force from its sight today. They had added it about a week after the title was announced at Ushicon in Texas as the solicitation date for the title was nearing. In that report we were told that the title was not going to be in big box retailers, such as Best Buy since they only want the big sellers anyway, but that it would be available via web retailers and from ADV Films directly.

Right Stuf could not disclose the reason for the title being pulled but so we contacted Chris Oarr at ADV Films to find out what's going on with the title. "We're not exactly sure how PEDF ended up on Right Stuf, since we never intended to solicit it to retail accounts. It's an ADV "web exclusive" title, meaning that it will be offered via the ADV website only. That's partly why it has such a great price of just $12.98."

"We're putting out PEDF because we like it, and we think it should be out there available to the fans. But the only way we could keep the project commercially viable was to release PEDF direct to fans through our website.".

Look at this news from AnimeonDVD.com....

Bandai Salvages Hoop Days (06:18 PM EST): One title that apparently nobody but myself and a handful other people bought was Hoop Days from Bandai Entertainment last year. After the second volume, the series third volume was put on hold and now is likely to be canceled as they've decided to release the entire show in one collection next May, according to Diamond Previews, for $49.98.

I guess it's good news, but what about those who bought the first couple of volumes? I suppose we could always sell them off....

I was browsing the new Diamond Previews (the one that lists the Hoop Days Collection mentioned above) and have pulled out the new listings. I think it was removed initially because Viz denied having the license, but now that they've confirmed it, I'm pretty sure it's accurate. The date for the 1st volume is listed sometime in late June if I remember right.

From AoD: Full Moon On Track

After the initial listing on Right Stuf which was then pulled with denials from Viz about the title even being licensed or planned, Diamond Previews has the series listed on their site for a June release (6/27 based on previously pulled solicitations) and even has the artwork for the first volume which includes the full title. Thanks to Andre for noticing the artwork there.

Chains of Lust... That sounds dangerous. *nods*

Will Viz add song subtitles for Full Moon? A music oriented series where some of the plot revolves around her lyrics... Shall we all hold hands and prey? I don't mind so much since I've seen it and understand the meaning behind everything, but it's very lame for those who haven't already. Viz will gain some major points if they do the right thing.

It looks like Viz will be keeping the Japanese R2 covers...since the cover art for volume 1 in Japan was very similar. ^_^ I really hope Viz won't let down the fans (me included) with this release (though I suppose I wouldn't mind if they didn't subtitle the songs; it would still be a bit sad, though, since the series is based around Mitsuki and her singing). I also hope it's given better dub treatment than Hikaru no Go was given...:'(

EDIT: Full Moon wo Sagashite R2 DVD cover, for those who might be interested in seeing it...

I prefer the R2 cover design, no surprise there... While I like the logo that Viz did for Full Moon, I could live without the Shoujo Beat logo and the big pink bar at the bottom with more Viz logos. I am very happy to see they're keeping the R2 coverart in any case. Perhaps I'm just being too picky. Either way, I'll probably just be happy to own it. ^_^

I'll most likely try and get that...though it is a bit expensive for a 13 episode series. -_-;

Everyone told me how aweful it was, so I was too scared to even watch it in dub form. :P But, Viz did give Saikano a good dub, so there is some hope.

Yes, it was horrible...It sounded even worse than the Yu-Gi-Oh dub, IMO. And they ruined my favorite character's voice (Tetsuo) who sounded so very annoying. Thank God for the Japanese seiyuu who voiced the characters in Hikaru no Go...

I have hope that Viz will treat Full Moon right as far as a dub...Also, I just read that Shoujo Beat buyers will get a preview disc of Full Moon in the June 2006 issue, so I'd expect that Viz will include the dubbed episode 1 on there...

Boys Be is worth checking out. Not too many people have seen it as it was a very under the radar fansub. I really enjoy it and the fact that it's from a guy's perspective. The character were entertaining and the mood was just right. I kind of wish it was a bit longer (not because it was missing anything), I just liked the direction it went in for the last episode and wanted more. I'll eventually pick it out once it's all out.

It's hard to believe this day has finally come. When MI was canceled during the VHS days everyone lost hope of it getting a DVD release let alone a great treatment it's been given. This makes me extremally and is something that should be in everyone's collection.

This is from the ANN forums regarding the Tenchi delays:

Strange that this is in the news now. I posted it in a regular thread back in January.

Also...

One of the biggest questions I've been getting since the street date announcement for Tenchi volume 2 & 3 is why is it so late? I can't take that long to dub the episodes? Here is what happened in a nutshell:

The OVA3 contract was split in two parts, episodes 4-7 being in the second contract. The signing of the second contract was delayed for a good long time due to many different internal changes that we have been going through this past year. After that there were some more studio talks and working to get the original voice cast together for these next volumes.

After all the smoke cleared (a few weeks back) we had all our ducks in a row and are pushing forward. Thank you again to all the loyal Tenchi fans for your understanding and patience.

It seems a bit of a waste to put all that work into remixing and remastering the series but not to have a good way to hold it all together. Levon
March 15th, 2006, 09:50 PM
Reading the summary of Elemental Gelade sounds just like Zoids: Chaotic Century:lol: Its by the same studio(XEBEC) even.

Elemental Gelade:
"Cou, the bumbling rookie of the "Red Lynx" sky pirate squadron, has just discovered the treasure of a lifetime - a mighty member of the ancient race of Edel Raids. Ren, at first glance, seems to be a shy and defenseless girl, but she holds within her a power that many are willing to kill for. When Cou takes it upon himself to protect Ren on her journey to a mysterious place called Edel Garden, he immediately makes new friends and dangerous enemies."

Van in Zoids: Chaotic Century 'discovered the treasure of a lifetime', the Zoidian Fiona in a pod who is 'of the ancient race' of Zoidian. Van 'takes it upon himself to protect' Fiona 'on her journey to a mysterious place called' Zoid Eve, 'he immediately makes new friends and dangerous enemies'.

:P

Anyway, I saw the trailer a few days ago of Elemental Gelade and it looks like an interesting adventure anime to me as well.

Air Master/ Toei backed out of the U.S. market before it was finished .
Hoop Days/(release May) Bandai canceled the rest of the release's and decided to release it in a complete collection on 05/23/2006
Bird Island/ I don't know the answer
Slam Dunk/Toei backed out of the U.S. market before it was finished .

Too bad it's not expensive according to retail prices on the original volumes, if you add them up. Of course, there is always cheaper prices somewhere out there. I'm happy that I got my bandanna, so I don't regret buying the individuals.

Compared to retail prices, yes, it is slightly cheaper. Barely. It was 7 volumes wasn't it? At retail price, all seven volumes would be $210 (plus tax, of course). Slightly more if you got the box. If I bought all 7 volumes (no box) at Best Buy, I would have spent $140-$175 pretax (I don't remember if the Samurai Champloo DVDs were $20 or $25 at Best Buy; Geneon DVDs are sometimes more expensive). If the Best Buy sells the box set, it probably won't be less than $170, certainly not less than $150.

Yeah, I think I'll wait for a 30-40% off company sale for Geneon.

More info came out tonight about Animeigo's re-release of Oh My Goddess. Info was found on AoD.
AnimEigo New Title Solicitation (10:48 PM EDT): AnimEigo has updated their site with information on their upcoming double disc set release:

# Oh My Goddess Collectors Edition - N/A minutes - $39.98 - 06/06/2006

AnimEigo is selling the release at a discount on their site but they also have a limited time program in effect if you've previously purchased this release that will allow you to "upgrade" to this new one for just $15.
From Animeigo's website:
Prepare yourself for the ultimate collector's edition of Oh My Goddess, coming this June! All 5 OVAs in a 3-disk Digipak for $39.98 MSRP!

But hold on. It gets better. We'll be holding a special limited-time earlybird sale as soon as the discs actually arrive (a few weeks before the official “street date”), and you'll be able to get the set direct from your favorite Anime company, in advance, for only $29.95 - that's 25% off! Watch the homepage for the arrival announcement.

And not only that, if you already have our original OMG DVD discs, you'll be able to upgrade to the collector's edition for only $15.00! We're calling it Divine Ascension. As soon as the discs arrive, we'll explain how to do it - but it'll be for a very limited time only!
I was originally going to pass on this release, but since I do have the original discs, this upgrade program is very tempting.

Its cheaper to buy them separatly ^_^, well for me anyways.

Not when I go to Fry's. I'd only pay $150 for the boxset, rather than $25 per volume, or $175...

If you've never seen it before, here's (http://home.earthlink.net/~tigeress0218/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/dvd5.jpg) a picture of it (amongst other boxes in my collection). Indeed. It's cheaper than the individual DVDs, but barely.

However, I would probably pay that for a Texhnolyze box set.

The release date of Box Set is 7/4/2006; thus, I have a four months. I will save each $60 on each month. It's not hurt my wallet at all. ;)

I would assume it is something similar to Cowboy Bebop REMIX but for the X anime.

I'll definitely be getting Gankutsuou volume 6.

I'm still debating on whether or not to get Speed Grapher, but I will probably get Shana (It's just going to be called "Shana"? I was thinking it would be called "Blazing Eyes Shana" or something cool like that). I saw the first two episodes and liked it and I have heard good things about it.

Finally a complete Kiddy Grade and GXP box set are going to be released b/c i really didn't feel like buying the two seperate ones.

Actually, they were rereleased in 4 double-disc packs.

Nothing for me from the new FUNi and VIZ solicitations, but I'll be picking up Gankutsuou Vol. 6, Saiyuki Reload Gunlock Vol. 3 and Shana Vol. 1 (I'm assuming this is Shakugan no Shana (http://animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=5943)).

Yes, it is. The AoD site links to description of it and it is definitely Shakugan no Shana.

X: Remix? Does that mean new 5.1 Japanese & English audio? If so I can't wait, I'm a sucker for 5.1 and it would be great to watch that anime in 5.1. Hell I thought the sound was great in just 2.0, so 5.1 would blow my mind.

[edit]- "Note that the X: Remix release indicates that the video and audio has been remastered with both language tracks receiving new 5.1 mixes."

Sweeeeeeet.

Do you have dates for those titles?

No specific dates on the ADV stuff yet, but Video Vault gives July as the month for the releases. Once the solicitations start showing up at retailers, I (or someone else) will put the specific dates up.
