anyone play any of these games?
i've had 4 for years and got 5 today as a b-day present
its quite remarkable that a flight sim/arcade would have such an interesting and endearing story. i can tell that 5 is going to have a great story...
the flight models are also amazing as well as the cg that tells the stories
your thoughts?

I only own 5, and I enjoyed it until I got stuck on a certain level:
I can't shoot down the damn Arkbird!
But on the whole, it's a wonderful game, and I've enjoyed it immensely, if only I can get myself un-stuck.

Owned 4 for a while and played it through.
Fun, even though the flight physics are very simplified.
A-10 forever!

Beat 4 way too easily. Megalith was awesome.

When the bottom laser fires, get above it. Do the reverse for the top laser. Leave the UAVs to your wingmen. Took me a few tries, but I got it done. ^_^
So who's waiting for Ace Combat Zero?

For the most part, the games are fun. If I wanted a sim game, I could brake out MS CFS.
The Unsung War controller is awesome.

Ace Combat games are great. They're simple and to the point. The story bits between missions is a nice touch, too.

I tried a more realistic simulator called IL-2 Sturmovik: Forgotten Battles some time ago...
Hey, I'm not badmouthing AC! Their just more focused on action than realism. IL-2 Sturmovik was a fully grown simulator!
Ahem... anyways, when I first time tried "No external views" option, I ended up hacking a squadmates tail with my propeller to pieces. Didn't know I was the last one in the lift-off line...
But yeah, I had tons of fun with AC4. Don't get me wrong. I just wish there hadn't been so many useless planes in the game.
I mean, the only plane to use as soon as you got it is the awesome F-22 Raptor. Or was that the exact model in the game...? I can't remember accurately.
In real combat, the F-22 is just overpowering. This was the same in the game.
Still, I simply have always loved the A-10.

^^ yeah the f22 is a real nice plane. but i like the f15active or the su37. i still don't have enough money to buy the x02 even though i've played through the game twice... haha
if i wanted a real good sim, i'd just get falcom 4.0 or the newest version... it basically puts you in the middle of a war and lets you fly around

I did enjoy the plane that has a huge "bomb dispenser" under it's belly, and literally shower the ground in bomblets.
I used it only for the beach mission, but still... It was a cute plane.

wow this thread is old, but yeah i loved 4 wanted more missions, then i was trying to find 5 with a controller but it was way to much. especially now that we are at the end of the ps2 life. dont see a lot of uses for the stick. haha f-16 love using that plane when doing some of the ace missions. love the su37 and x-02 (took a while stupid mig-21bis - fishbed took forever to fill the kill bar) have 3 falkens. love the inside cockpit looked, usually something in the other planes get in ur way. was ace combat: zero any good?

yeah i was a bit mad on ac5 bc you couldnt re-supply during a mission. and that all planes only had one sub-weapon instead of u deciding from like 3 different ones. really zero was bad. oh well maybe they will do something for next-gen. i heard about and ace combat for psp. wonder if its any good.
edit:its called ace combat X. and was it just me or did the game sometimes slow down.

Ace Combat Zero < Ace Combat 4 & 5
Zero is highly superior. The story is also phenomnal also, I'm still working on unlocking all the paint schemes and the hidden hanger.

"<" means "less than", so you said Ace Combat Zero is less than(not as good as) AC4 and 5, which contradicts your next sentence.

The best part about Zero was fighting the other ace squadrons. There just weren't enough differences between Mercenary->Soldier->Knight so it feels more like a chore to get S rankings in all missions from Normal to Ace (though the idea was interesting, they should've done more with it).
