Oohh! that is *really* cute and nicely detailed. That was done in copics? Tell me, how'd you get the skin tones? I keep looking around and can never find something to do skin tones with.
I use Prismacolors and have to end up layering colored pencil over marker in order to get the right skin tone color. It's doable, but annoying. It'd be nice to just be able to just use one marker for skin tone and be done with it.

I use copics, and to this day I still find using them really hard. Your drawing is excellent, and your use of color is absolutely fabulous. You could teach me a thing or two! Sadly, most of my stuff is CG these days, although occassionally I do return to the old ways. What is your technique?

MirKz>Thank you much :)

Akemi>ありがとう。雪ではなくて雷ですよ。
its not yuki, its kaminari.
rai-jin is a god. and this is a image of that god.

LelBunny>Thank you! The prismacolors homepage was to heavy. what kind of pen is it? Copics are alcohol pens. ther is lots of colors to chose from :P

quantumkid> Yeah! I found someone that also uses copics! At first I hated them but now I find that I can use them better and understand how to use them better too! that is because I was taught by a very good artist here in Japan.
The trick to getting the skin to look real is to drench the part that you want to color with a colorless blender then use the color that you want to use on top of that area before it has a chance to dry out. .... but I am sure that you already know that.

And while we are on the subject; I would realy like it if you could show me how you do your body size/pose sketches. :naughty:

それは非常によい考えである! I'd actually read about such a technique from Japanese artist forums, although it has been so long I really can't remember where. Clearly, you've been practicing this technique for some time because your ability to blend colors is astonishing. ^-^ You're the best artist I've seen in a long, long, time. Who was your mentor? Do you study at Yoyogi or another Japanese Animation Academy?

And while we are on the subject; I would realy like it if you could show me how you do your body size/pose sketches. :naughty:

The truth of the matter is that Rai Jin has a partner named Fu Jin, Hee hee.

quantumkid>Thank you! But the truth is that I learnt how to use them on my own. And that was last month or so; Until that time I was using water colours.
But there is a much more sofisticated way to use copics but I also forgot where I saw it and dont remember how to do it. :P

Well, err.. I don't have any Kanji/Katakana to post, but er...

Very nicely done:) ALWAYS! You have the kinda talent I'd like to sit and observe in the middle of a pic, so I could watch your creative process and technique, and leech a few tips:) While we're on the subject of marker techniques, I have to ask, what weight paper do you use for such a thing? I tried using Bristol and sketch paper last I used marker, but couldn't dream of the effects turning out so well on either of them.

quantumkid>Thank you! Then let me call you master! :)

Shiroiyuki>That was mostly correct just a minor mistake. It is understandable to a japanese so theres no real problem. ;)

SAB-CA>thank you so much for your praise but I am not worthy of it at all.
I use mermaid paper and I find that I get the best results with that. I used regular 100yen shikishi for the two wind and thunder gods though. I would like to have your fashion sense.

Does anyone know of a art techniques thread? I would like to take a peek at such a place.

LadyAkuma
March 29th, 2006, 07:58 AM
Very nice. I usually don't like a more convential anime style because I see them everywhere and it gets boring, but your art really separates itself from the crowd. I think it's mostly due to your obvious skill, interesting designs and compositions, and some of your own stylistic flairs. It's hard to say, something about it makes me like it a lot. ^_^ Your skill with copics is amazing. I wish I had that same skill with my markers, yet I have only used them twice. ^_^ Your colors just blend so nicely. <3

I don't know of any such threads. There are some at conceptart.org or cgtalk, but I don't know if any of those places would interest you (especially cgtalk).

Thank you for the high praise .
why dont you try the markers yourself. Once you get the hang of them you will find them to be very easy to use. CG is very difficult for me and I have come to prefer markers over CG. I chose Iroha because I like her and her fashion.

Yeah I figure that has to be either college, work, or both.

I go to college, but I guess you have your website to run and maybe some anime convention thing you do as well.

I have a friend that is trying to become a talented voice actress, well former friend actually. I asked her to help me in constructing a manga series and she just flipped out with a thousand different excuses explaining she was already busy doing something. Even though her dream is to play the voice role of Kagome, I don't understand how someone would pass up such an opportunity.

Anyways what I recommend, so that you don't end up in the same shoes as her and many other people. Is that if someone is asking you to help create a series with him or her, you should give up any unnecessary work. Like fan clubs and such, which of course don't boast the likelihood of you getting hired by a major anime corporation like Toei.

School however and work is very important and most other things are not, except for your own dream. If your dream is to become a great and well known manga writer or anime drawwer then you shouldn't pass up such an opportunity.

There are three ways to approach such a situation.

1) The first thing to consider is if you have any time without doing so much unnecessary socialization to work on an anime. The only two things that should be important is education and work. You need education to get better at your skills as a drawwer/animator and you need work to pay for your food and such to stay alive. You also need better education to get a better job to get more money for your own survival. All that is important. So if you can't do anything with your education and work in the way, then forget about it. Those things are more important than trying some project with someone that may be successful or not.

Now like I said before, there is nothing important about socializing with people. It will actually ruin your future more so than to not socialize with people. Because people will have to depend on you more and more, and with so many obligations, you will never have the time to work for a major studio and fullfill what you want to do in life. Sure you have plenty of time on your side in terms of how old you are right now. But who knows if an accident or terrorist event or major catastrophy should strike and you end up losing your life. We have to take such chances anyways, but it's important not to simply pass up a great opportunity when you see one coming to you. Besides, the more manga and anime work you do, the more likely of a chance you'll get hired by a major anime/manga company to do work. And the sooner that occurs, the more faster you'll be able to accomplish what you believe is your destiny in life or whatever. Just as long as you can do what little bit that is necessary from bringing you into insanity. And becoming like one of those characters in the anime, Paranoia.

Well anyways, with that done the next step is to find a suitable individual whom is a brilliant story maker. You'll need a great story to go along with your work. You can either find a great storywriter or a great story maker with a great story writer. I am a great storywriter and a great story maker. But since writing stories takes away from my time of making brilliant stories, I have a young 16 year old girl to write all my stories for me. She of course get's half of the credit and half of the profit. Which I believe is very equal.
So you have to make sure that the person that wants you to work for him or her is giving you a percentage of the amount of money you'll be earning and your rightful amount of credit so you can become well known. That's very important.

Oh yes, and make sure that you do find someone with great skills or great enough skills, before you should quite all unnecessary work.

2) Anyways if you really do want to become a manga drawwer or whatever and you don't have the time right now. Then consider how much time you would need to make such a reality happen and go from there. Consider how much time you would need, 2 years should be the maximum, in which the people asking to hire you will have to wait. 9/10 it'll take them along time to make a long series. Normally it takes 3 days to a week to make a single page of content. So considering that as a fact, just tell them to do make 2 or so years of content and then you'll make the drawwings necessary for such. Also make sure that the manga you'll be doing is the type you wouldn't mind doing. It doesn't have to be your particular fantasy type, because you are just doing this to get noticed. And even if the story isn't all that great, as long as you can draw very well, you will get noticed by someone.

3) You can give up the chance of a lifetime. Because the likelihood of meeting an enterprenuer is as likely as finding a million dolors or ten million yen. Very very rare and unlikely to happen, unless you are already very well known in your city or nation.

Also make sure that the person that wants to hire you is an honest sort of person. You don't want to do a ton work and recieve no credit or money for it. I'm such a person that would be ideal to work with in terms of making your own manga series. But I doubt anyone would want to work with me, even though my abilities are outstanding.

Nevertheless, this is just friendly advice and very important as well in regards of being an animator or drawwer.

Super gohan>Thank you for the offer, it was very pleasing to hear that from someone.
I am making more than enough selling my art on the japanese yahoo auctions.
Because turning pro would make my hobby into work and make something that is fun for me into somethig that I hate to do would be regrettable.
That is why I wont be aiming to become profesional any time soon.
I would consider making doushinji on my own because I would be making something that I want to do.
Anouther reason that I would not try to become proffesional is because it would take from the time I have to spend with my boy.
I am living in japan so there would be a communication problem as well as distance. :P

ARE YOU KIDDING?You should get published and make your own manga series, seriously...
Thank you for saying so. It makes me want to try just so much harder. But you have no idea how good everyone else here is. I may be better than others but there are a few that I cant hope to touch. right now my son is trying on my make up. its kinda cute watching him put on eyeshadow. ha!

thank you also for saying that. I had to twist myself into a painful pose to get that form. I dontl like to use feviant so much because they are difficult to understand. You have to fill out all this information and chose categories and all this stuff so in the middle of that somewhere I gave up. plus I dont like the colours. If the site were pink or something it would be a more pleaseurable experiance for me there. Plus I dont understand english that well.

Yay, Iroha, yay, a Samurai Showdown game I have yet to play! T_T

They're all so well done:) And I agree, I love the way those high-socks press into the thigh, it makes the character look so much more healthier than having the socks just PERFECTLY coat the leg.

What would be the problem with posting the character from Fate/Hollow? I can only take a guess with my limited knowledge of Fate/Stay Night, if they're related (I assume they have to be!)

Always good to drop in on your quality works!
