I know what I'm pre-ordering for Christmas!!
Its pretty interesting how you pay $99 & they ship out each arc set as they are released.
I'm disapointed they diddn't choose to make a dub for the re-release, but whatever.

I was order #66 :)
They charge you the whole $100 in March when the first box ships out. It seems like we're been waiting for this re-release forever. It's nice to finally have a date and pre-order in.
The first 200 orders get somemething extra apparently. Around 75 or so have been pre-ordered so far.

I'm just a little confused if these are limited or what. Is this the only way to buy them or will stores have them as well?
I'm sure you could get them even cheaper at other online sites.
"As an added bonus, the first 200 Pre-Orders
will also receive the rare, out-of-print,
Armored Trooper Votoms Supreme Survivor Graphic Novel"
Its not rare, I did a search & found them for sale. But its nice to have for free.

According to the CPM Assistant Marketing Manager
CPM will be releasing all four volumes individually at $34.95 in stores. Once all four are released, a completed set containing the DVDs, bonus materials, and box will come out for $149.95. (Slightly higher than the individual volumes combined to cover the cost of the metal case.) So, CPM's preorder price of $99.95 is indeed $50 off the SRP.
I mainly purchased the set from the official site to fully support them and this release.

so.....the set will be coming out after the individual releases? so instead of waiting for each individual release, I can grab it all at once after august?
Hisoka
December 2nd, 2005, 11:34 AM
^ That seems to be the case. Now that this news is out, I'm contemplating if I should cancel my pre-order or not. I don't really care about the "rare" GN all that much and knowing me, I won't watch it till I have it all which would be August anyway. Kind of doesn't make much sense to spend an extra $20 for that. Regardless, I can't wait to watch it all.

I'd wind up paying 150 total with all the shipping charges I would have to pay my friend, so I might as well wait until the Tin set release and order it from my regular source.

Questions on VOTOMS:
Is this release dubbed?
The set's subtitled only. The subs are soft.
Is this the Japanese remastered video?
CPM didn't use the Japanese restored video, instead supervising a new restoration process for this release.
Will NuTech's World of VOTOMS extras be included?
It's CPM's intent to take all of the information about VOTOMS we can compile -- including but not limited to the World of VOTOMS extras -- and include it in the VOTOMS bonus disc. We want to make an exhaustive VOTOMS encyclopedia, documenting, chronicling, and archiving everything that is VOTOMS.
Will I see the metal box for $149.95 in stores?
CPM will be releasing all four volumes individually at $34.95 in stores. Once all four are released, a completed set containing the DVDs, bonus materials, and box will come out for $149.95. (Slightly higher than the individual volumes combined to cover the cost of the metal case.) So, CPM's preorder price of $99.95 is indeed $50 off the SRP.
Will we see the VOTOMS OAVs or Dancougar?
I'm personally a VOTOMS fan and would love for CPM to bring out the OAVs and other oldschool robot shows. For this to happen, frankly, VOTOMS will have to sell. CPM's very proud to bring VOTOMS out but it's also an experiment. If the set does well, I'll hopefully be able to announce some other timeless mecha animations. What it comes down to is if you want Dancougar, preorder VOTOMS.
What are all the video restoration stats?
Restoration and color correction. I'll see about getting more info and before-and-after pictures.
What's the box look like?
Ever see ammo cases at Army/Navy Stores? CPM's modelling the metal case on an ammo crate. It'll lack rust and sharp corners, though.
Can I order VOTOMS if I'm in the UK?
CPM only has the rights to sell VOTOMS in North America. As such, we can't sell it in the UK.
Will there be a Scopedog toy with the set?
Including a little Scopedog in every box would have pushed the price up. CPM wants to make our releases as affordable as possible. (If you come to New York Comic-Con or the summer cons, we'll probably be raffling off a few VOTOMS toys. We'll probably give some away from the VOTOMS site, too, but we couldn't include one in every box.)
How will I be billed for this if I do the pre-order?
As far as our system goes, it's a single $99.95 charge timed with the first story arc.
What will the general retail release be like?
Online and brick-and-mortar stores will carry all four volumes individually for $34.95 beginning later this year. Once all four are released, a completed set containing the DVDs, bonus materials, and box will come out for $149.95. (Slightly higher than the individual volumes combined to cover the cost of the metal case.)
If you can't preorder the box from CPM you can still get it all at other online and physical stores in the future. CPM's preorder allows you to get it first and get it cheapest ($50 off the SRP).
What are the packages going to look like?
The four story arcs are going to be released as digi-paks. You can see their covers at http://www.centralparkmedia.com/votoms/preorderinfo.cfm . The image above the pre-order button shows the artwork. The digi-paks will be two DVDs each. Once all four are released, the metal box to hold them all is going to be a tin with a lid modeled after an ammo case. It's going to have an industrial / military motif.
Why charge up front?
We thought about a number of different options, but simply charging one fee at the start is ultimately easier for us than charging pre-orderers as each box is shipped. If you're worried about CPM running away with your money, we've been in the anime business for 15 years.
Is the site secure?
Yes. All personal and credit card information sent to CPM is encrypted.

HOLY. F*CKING. SH!T. CPM Bettah be releasing Dancougar! I really wish I could support CPM by buying VOTOMs, but I'm fresh outa cash right now, and living in the Philippines doesn't help at all. My Aunt has been bugging me about getting me a christmas present, maybe I can convince her...

I'm pretty excited about this. I don't want to go and buy each set as they come out so I just went and pre-ordered the whole thing. I like the idea of just paying a one-time charge and having them send you everything as they come out.

This is why CPM are one of my 2 top favorite companies, they bring us classics like this, and they try their best to make it the best quality they can without putting a strain on our wallets.
I have been trying to drum up support for this release because I knew that if it sells well enough we'll get more classics like Dancouga. Sadly, I think my efforts are being wasted because no one ever listens when I recommend anything. I hope at least one person heeds my advice this time, every little bit helps.

I was wondering when you'd show up. Now you don't have to ask anymore. :)
As much as I want Votoms, I want Dancougar ever more. As few people on the AoD forum were asking about it, so that's why it was included in the questions. Hopefully this wish can come true. It's one of my favorites from the genre.

CPM Scopes VOTOMS Collectors Edition Pre-Orders
CPM Initiates an Armored Trooper VOTOMS Pre-Order Campaign
NEW YORK, NY (December 6, 2005) Central Park Media's announced the long awaited DVD release of the anime masterpiece Armored Trooper VOTOMS as well as an exclusive pre-order campaign enabling fans to purchase the entire VOTOMS series and bonus materials at a very special price.
The story of VOTOMS spans four story arcs spread across four vastly different worlds, and throughout 2006, CPM will be releasing the chronicles of Armored Trooper pilot Chirico Cuvie in four digitally restored digipak collections, each completing one of the arcs. The sets will be released in March, April, June, and August 2006, each priced at $34.95 SRP. The ultimate VOTOMS Collector's Edition DVD Set will be available in August and priced at $149.95 SRP.
Central Park Media has designed a pre-order campaign specifically for the most dedicated VOTOMS fans so that they will have a chance to own all of VOTOMS at a very special price. Those who visit CPM's VOTOMS site at www.centralparkmedia.com/votoms/ can pre-order all four volumes of Armored Trooper VOTOMS as well as the limited edition VOTOMS ammo case and bonus materials for only $99.95 and save $50.00. Each volume will be automatically shipped by its respective street date with the metal VOTOMS ammo case, which will hold all four volumes of the television series plus the bonus materials, shipping at the same time as the last volume. Orders will be accepted for this very special offer through February 7, 2006.
The limited-edition VOTOMS ammo case will include a 64-page VOTOMS guide exploring the many worlds, characters, and robots of Armored Trooper VOTOMS as well as a special bonus DVD documenting the VOTOMS universe. As a final bonus, CPM will be rewarding the first 200 fans who pre-order this ultimate collection with a copy of the rare, out-of-print Armored Trooper VOTOMS Supreme Survivor graphic novel. This book will be included in the first shipment.
About Armored Trooper VOTOMS
From Ryousuke Takahashi, Kunio Okawara, and Hiroyuki Okuno, the talents behind Samurai 7, Last Exile, Ronin Warriors, Gundam 0083, Gundam Wing, and Gundam SEED, VOTOMS is a 52-episode sci-fi war drama following the personal war of Armored Trooper pilot Chirico Cuvie in the aftermath of a galaxy-wide conflict.
Nothing really important or new however.

Hey, I was just thinking, since CPM expressed an interest in classic mecha, is there any chance of CPM snapping up SPT Layzner? I really want to check this series out, especially since AoD gave it an A for its content (on its R2). I know that Bandai had the license at first, along with Giant Gorg, but I think they dropped it.
Daishikaze
December 13th, 2005, 03:10 PM
Its a possiblity, Lets bug them about it until the license it! its worth a try, isn't? ;)
Hisoka
December 13th, 2005, 03:46 PM
The fact that Bandai dropped it might turn out to be a blessing in disguise. There is always a possibility that CPM will license Layzner. If Votoms sells well we might have a change, otherwise it's slim to none.

People who are buying the individual volumes(like me) have no fear, you can still get the metal box & extras.
"Includes the first of four redeemable coupons - collectors who purchase all four Votoms releases can redeem these coupons for a special metal collector's Ammo Can, the Armored Votoms: Field Guide, PLUS a bonus disc bursting with special features!"
I don't know if they would want you to pay for shipping or what.

Did they change their minds and now aren't releasing the Full Tin set in August?
Levon

I don't think they'd do that after people have preordered the complete set. I think they just reached there limit for now, "at this time we are unable to accept any further preorders.".

I got my Votoms volume 1 today, about time<_< It took Digital Eyes long enough! I keep having issues with their site where the payment won't show up but they said the site should be fixed maybe tomorrow I believe. Once its fixed I'll order volume 2, until then I'll wait.
I can't wait to get the metal box & that extras disk. I want to hear the English dub of the first episode, how old is that dub? Was it something old or recent where they choose to stop? Is it edited really badly?
I wonder if its like the Robotech first episode dub extra on ADV's SDF Macross release where the first episode was dubbed pretty accurate & there were notes durring it(kinda like pop-up video on VH1) that gave interesting details before it was redubbed again into the unaccurate Robotech.

I'm not really in any kind of rush really-_-; I know I'll get them all, it doesn't matter if I get it a few weeks after its release. It just pisses me off that Digital Eyes site is messed up. Takes them a while to get things strait & me not knowing whats going on bugs me. Anyone use Paypal at Digital Eyes and have the same problem? I remember talking to someone that had the same issue.
I would order from another site(DVD Pacific) but I have $5 off at Digital Eyes so Votoms volume 2 would only cost me $15, thats a steal for a 2 disc 12 episode set:D So I shouldn't complain about waiting a week or two.

I only have the first two volumes so far... they may be out of the ammo can by the time I get around to buying three and four (probably next month at Anime Weekend Atlanta). It'd be neat to have that can... as well as the bonus book and disk. So I'll have to order mine in a month or so and hope the can and extras are still available.
But I do have to ask... everyone keeps mentioning it will keep the dvds safe. Where exactly are y'all storing your dvd's where they won't be safe already? Barring hurricanes, volcanic eruptions, and other disasters that could potentionally destroy your home (and thus your dvd collection), of course.

Ah, ok, so the manga that was released in the US was a US adaptation of the series, sorta like the Robotech stuff that was based on the anime (yeah, I know, Robotech is technically a "US product," but you guys know what I mean... a "comic" by American artists based on a cartoon by Japanese artists).
Oh, and does anyone else think Coconna is way cuter than PS1? I like her short red hair and her spunky attitude. I'm only just now finishing the Jungle Wars saga, but I kinda wish Chirico would dump Fyana and go for Coconna instead. Her crush on him is kinda cute... and I just don't trust PS1!
