I've noticed some fans of D.N. Angel, so I decided to make a thread about this series. (I don't know if there are any threads like this, so I apologize before hand if there are.)

So, you can discuss anything about D.N. Angel here. Have fun. :P

I have to admit, I think the anime is a bit better than the manga. I'm not saying I dislike the manga, of course.

We need a discussion starter. Who is everyone's favorite character?

FURUBA4EVER

Mine is...Dark! (Manga Dark, though...) I just think he's very sweet in the manga...especially when it comes to his feelings for Riku. :teehee:

As far as both anime and manga...I like Daisuke in both versions. And Riku. :)

(I HATE Risa in both versions, even though Luci Christian is her dub voice...Even Luci Christian's voice cannot save this hated character from my wrath!) :ssj:

I think my favorite character would be Satoshi. I love his creepy personality.

I like Luci Christian's voice acting too. :) I think her voice was somewhat fitting for Risa, though.

I love the manga to death, but I like the anime a lot more. Dark is my favorite (come on...it's DARK! <3 heehee) , Riku is a very close second, though.

Furuba4Ever, I HATE Risa (in both versions) too. She's obnoxious. It's funny how I can adore her twin sister yet despise Risa so much *hahah*

Her voice does fit Risa, yet I still can't stand Risa as a character. The only time I feel sorry for her is when Dark is blatantly rejecting her.

And, to you, TWiZZLEr!!! We're both Risa haters! :P

(BTW...Anyone seen volume 9 of the manga? Is it just me...or has Dark started to LIKE Risa?! I'm sorry, but that just made me mad...)

I really like the Manga a lot, just because my favorite character is it more (Satoshi Hiwatari! :P I love the part on page 123 in book 3.) :shifty: I know I have said this before however I really wanted Satoshi and Daisuke to be a couple! ^_^ (I know I’m a hopeless Yaoi fan girl!) :P

D.N.Angel now happens to be one of my personal favorites for both Anime and Manga.

Risa is not nice to Daisuke at all (she’s a spoiled brat!) And if Dark falls for her I’m going to be so disgusted. <_<

Edit: Sorry for the double post! :P

Ditto. He could do a lot better. I did feel sorry for her after she was rejected, yet I had this 'you deserved it' feeling too. :P

I just looked up the part you were talking about. Ah, that was one of the greatest parts in the whole manga series. I would like them to be together too. However, I said it once, and I'm gonna say it again: I'm sure glad Daisuke picked Riku over Risa. Riku has an awesome down-to-earth personality.

I think Riku is a better choice (out of the two twins!) so I’m happy that Daisuke finally found that out! ;)

If everyone else noticed this too...then it probably will happen! Dark, I'll hate you if you fall for her!!! :crybaby: (Nah, not really...I'll hate Risa even more, though. :P)

My first clue was when Risa kissed Dark and he changed back to Daisuke. He's starting to notice her. :'( Especially when he said, "That girl...she feels so strongly about...me. Even though...I'm just an "endless existence." And, of course, he was imagining her tear-stained face... <_<

I’m just curious does the manga end with 10 volumes? (I ask this because it doesn’t seem like it would end with only 1 more volume to go……... -_-; )

It went on hiatus for a while...I wonder why this creator has series that have no definite endings? (Candidate for Goddess, Rizelmine...)

Sort of reminds me of CLAMP, in a way... :teehee:

Oh well...So long as there's more D.N. Angel to love, I'm happy. :P

I was wondering that too, because it seemed weird that it would be finished in the next volume. Is volume 11 the last, or is there more to come?

There's a volume 11?!?! So she's still writing the series? I thought she was working on Lagoon Engine, and DNAngel was finished. Darn. I was going to buy volumes 9 and 10 solely because I figured since I was so close to the end, I meay as well finish it, but if it's still on going I guess I should just drop it now :|

On that note, I find the story to be really annoying. Especially being Satoshi, the only character I still like, is seemingly the only one who'll end the story with unrequited love. Not cool Sugisaki sensei, not cool <_<

YAY!!! Someone else actually thought that might happen too!!! :)

No, I don't think so either, but...When she said 'See you tomorrow!' to him, he was just like, "Yeah...right." Also, Risa thought Satoshi could have been Dark. What will she do when she realizes the boy she rejected (Daisuke) is actually the guy she is infatuated with (Dark)? (I say infatuation because I haven't seen any concrete evidence that Risa likes Dark's personality (meaning she doesn't love him for him...To her, looks count/matter before anything else. She's a very shallow girl; I guess that's what bugs me most about her. (Other than the fact that she rejected Daisuke...)) <_<

Ewww, that is a terribly disturbing thought :x Risa doesn't deserve anyone, let alone someone as awesome as Satoshi. I swear, I'd hold some kind of crazy DNAngelic bonfire should something so... not right happen. I mean, lets be realistic. Even if I wasn't a yaoi fan, no degree of blindness could not notice Satoshi's angsty Daisuke loving :P I can deal with Dark being sacrificed to Risa (Sort of...) but Satoshi would be just so sick and wrong (Not to mention completely out of nowhere) >_<

*Still believes Satoshi deserves his love to be reciprocated more than anyone else but knows there's no way it'll happen and continues cursing the story for it*

Anyways, the 9th volume's out now, right? If anyone's read it, was there much/any Satoshi or Krad in it?

FURUBA4EVER
September 12th, 2005, 06:51 PM
Satoshi was in it...some. >_<

And, Satoshi as Krad appeared for a few scenes...-_-; That's about it. :( <~~Satoshi fan as well, who is very unhappy about his small number of appearances.

(Daisuke won't meet Satoshi again until...THE FINAL SHOWDOWN...or whatever it is. I just like the romance and shounen-ai glimpses, though, so I really don't care...:))

(Hey, did anyone like the scene in the anime when Daisuke and his classmates were at the beach...and Satoshi and Daisuke were sitting next to each other when some fan girls came by...and said about there being something between them? And, Satoshi, in his awesome Greg Ayres dub voice, said, "Well...you never know..." I loved that scene!!! :P)

No, I don't think so either, but...When she said 'See you tomorrow!' to him, he was just like, "Yeah...right."

However there’s a part in the manga vol. 3 where Satoshi type is revealed. :naughty: When Risa and Satoshi fall into the water trap; Risa asks Satoshi if they suffer because they are in love with Dark (sorry I can’t remember the exact words…because I don’t have the book with me.) -_-; And Satoshi tells Risa “Maybe.” However most all of us yaoi fans already knew who he was after!

I'm starting to wonder if this is gonna get moved to the yaoi forum the way the discusision is headed.

I think Krad has a crush on Dark and Satoshi. He's always telling Satoshi that nobody cares for him as much as he does, then he proceeds to molest and grope him. :P I'm very fond of twisted or non-con Krad/Satoshi fanfics. Angsty stuff with them is always good. Yeah, you probably think I'm weird for that. Ah well.

If I wasn't a yaoi fan, I probably would have noticed some vibes between Satoshi and Daisuke. It's very obvious that Satoshi likes him in that way. It's almost plainly stated at times.

It's good to know I'm not the only one out there who has a dislike for Risa. In the anime, as soon as she sees Dark on TV and declares her love for him, I just knew she wouldn't be on my "favorite characters" list. When she was rejected by Dark , I felt more emotional over Daisuke's reaction than to her sadness.

On a better note, my favorite character has gotta be Satoshi. Akira Ishida has a fitting voice for the character. He's got all this mystery about him and it's too bad the anime doesn't go into details about his everyday activities like the manga does.

I found out more about Satoshi from a couple pages in the manga than the entire anime series together (I'm thinking of the mini story that's at the end of volume three). I certainly didn't know he had low blood pressure.

Yep, I turned into a Satoshi fan the moment I saw the episode where he wakes up in bed with, er, not much on in the way of clothes.

Just kidding! Seriously though, I like how Satoshi is able to handle so many public responsibilities and seem very put together. He looks like the perfect guy, then it turns out he's got a secret or two that almost drives him crazy. Gotta love angst!

There are some slashy momentes with Satoshi and Dark like Satoshi crossdresses to attempt to lure Dark to him, and Dark says something along the lines of if he were a girl, he'd be his type. Also, there are quite a few parts of them in compromising positions. As for him having a crush on Dark, he could. But he also seems to like Daisuke. Maybe he's indecisive? :P

I don’t really know about Satoshi having a crush on dark; however it’s very possible because Satoshi loves Daisuke and Dark is a part of him. ;)

Ah, I love that moment in the anime where he was naked in bed and all angsty.

I absolutely love that part! (One of the best parts in the anime.) I also love the ending where Daisuke tries to convince Satoshi to live. (I love that part too.)

Also in the manga vol. 3 I love the part where Daisuke (really Dark) passes-out and Satoshi carries him to the nurses office. (That was way too sweet!) I also happen to enjoy seeing Daisuke (again really Dark) dressing up like a girl during the rehearsals and seeing him so cute acting with Satoshi. :P

Yes in that part I did cry. (I felt so sorry for Satoshi and I could feel his pain of being isolated.) And then when Daisuke saved him, Satoshi finally realized that he did have someone who cared for him (unfortunately not in the romantic way, but as a good friend.)

Everyone seems to be a Satoshi fan. (Even I am...if Dark falls for Risa, Satoshi is next in line to become my favorite character...He's very close to Dark for the lead, anyway. :P)

About Satoshi having a crush on Dark...well...I think it's an obssession, personally. Did you see how he went after him in volume 1 of the manga? It was yaoi-licious!!! :P However...I think Satoshi has more feelings for Daisuke than he ever had for Dark. (That is...if he had feelings in the first place...)

So...moving on...(so this thread does not get moved to the yaoi section...) How do you think the manga's going to end? I remember the scene in the anime where Daisuke sees the future and his 'future' son. So, do you think Riku and Daisuke will get married or something? I would say yes they do get married otherwise that scene in the anime would be pointless. (At lest Daisuke and Riku is a cute couple so I don’t mind it that much.) However if Risa ever became interested in Daisuke I would be completely disgusted. >_<

(D.N.Angel would be great as a shounen-ai manga or anime. Just my opinion)^_^

Yes its true Mio does not show up in the manga. (She was so funny in the anime.) ^_^

Thanks for clearing that up ^_^ no wonder I thought that part was slashy! It's about the only thing I recall from the series :uhh: Poor Satoshi. I would've loved the anime so much more (as in, actually remember what happens in it and really enjoy it even though I thought it was mostly filler episodes) if Daisuki had fallen for Satoshi instead.

I love it more too if Daisuke and Satoshi got together and the slashy part(you know what i mean,i don't like to repeat)got me thinking perverted thoughts(i can't help it at times like that).

She was hilarious! I was really upset when Satoshi's father (step-dad, whatever...) killed her because she tried to help Daisuke. It really showed me that she cared a lot about him. It made me very sad, though... :(

I do too! I love the opening song.

Also, there was this song that was played at the end of the last episode, or it may have been the second to the last episode. I can't remember. It think it was called Caged Bird, or something like that. It was a nice song too.

Japanese seiyuu is the proper name for the voice actors.

Kusao Takeshi has a beautiful voice (especially when he did Krad’s voice!)

BTW has anyone heard the ‘D.N. Angel Vocal Trilogy CD’? (I know it only has 3 vocal and 3 karaoke songs; however I don’t believe any of those songs are on the OST’s or the other vocal collection CD’s.)

I really like the end song... called... ah, "Michishirube" (I've been listening to this song a lot but couldn't remember the song title, LOL). I also like the two ending credit songs.

I haven't read all the manga, but I recall seeing a picture or two of a character of a guy who likes to take photos (?). He acts like a news reporter of some kind, and I'm guessing he wants more info on Dark. Does he become more of a secondary character and not just a cameo?

I heard White night~True light in 3 versions. One was the full version(not the TV version)The intrumental(sp?) version and the Piano Version.i want to hear the violin version of it(If there's one,the piano version is my favorite next to intrumental version)

I love DNAngel, it's one of my favourite manga. I've read from 1-8 (I really want 9 -_-, gotta buy it soon) and I've also watched the whole series... which I thought wasn't as good as the manga... Daisuke's hair is stuffed, Does anyone else think so?
But the songs are great, I love the OP song - I like the acoustic version of that song, Michishirube is good too, I love the violins in that one... and it fits prefectly with the animation. Dark's feather dissapearing.... aw.... I wonder how the manga will end?
By the way... when do you hear 'A caged bird?'
You can download the manga at stoptazmo.com....but I'm not sure how much they have.... is it alright to post that here?

I also so far like the anime better then the manga. I like how they brought Daisuke and Riku together better in the anime. In the manga it sort happened a little too soon in the story at least for me. As for Risa she's more of a spoiled brat in the manga I think then in the anime. When Dark rejected her in the anime like most people said she did deserve it so I didn't feel that sorry for her. I was like well you deserved it you little spoiled love struck brat. By the end of the anime though I thought she was better then before I think the rejection helped her grow more. I still didn't like her as much but she was more tolerable. All through the anime and manga I kept thinking what does Daisuke see in her besides her looks?

He couldn't see how spoiled she was behind her pretty face? :P Honestly...I don't see what he saw in Risa. Then again...Daisuke is naive to these sorts of things, isn't he? ^_^ I guess that's what makes him cute...but if she had fallen for him as well...:uhh: Poor Daisuke would have been stuck with a spoiled wife for the rest of his life. :P (And poor Riku...she would have been heart-broken...)

Also...in the anime, when Risa says Dark-san!/Mr. Dark!, it just makes me...annoyed... (It especially sounds annoying in the dub...<_< Poor Luci Christian and getting stuck with the bratty character...)

The Freedert saga...Yes, that was very sad. I found her story to be very...devastating. She really loved Elliot, but Kyle...I'm suprised he was redeemed that easily by writing the story Ice and Dark. Poor Elliot and Freedert...Their love was completely selfless, which was beautiful and sad at the same time...

Also...While I think that part was very sad at the end of the anime, I knew it had to happen. But, still, I can't help but feel sad...He was my favorite character, after all! (I like him better in the mange, though, since he likes/liked Riku. :D)

*sigh* I'm glad Satoshi and Daisuke can finally start to become real friends, though. After all, their curse was getting in the way of that. (It's funny, too, since each of them will probably date one of the Harada twins. (Daisuke x Riku, and Satoshi x Risa!) It's just very funny and ironic, IMO. :P (I feel a bit sorry for Satoshi, though...)

(Just something funny I wanted to bring up, but...Did anyone else notice how Risa and Riku's clothes were in complete reversal? Also I'd like to add a little discription on all the characters it's more based on the anime so forgive me for it being a little off topic but I really want to do this. well at least the main ones: *CAUTION COULD CONTAIN SPOILERS HIGHLIGHT TO READ*

Daisuke: What can I say? How can you not like him? He's shy around girls, he's clumsy, but he has a good heart and that's what makes him really shine. Although his kindess is where people tend take advantage of him especially Risa. I'm glad in the end he realized his feelings for Riku. Daisuke really shines in the last half of the show. When he starts his relationship with Riku you can tell his personality starts to mature. In fact he doesn't even seem to notice Risa when he gets together with Riku.

Dark: ehh hehe my feelings for Dark are kind of bitter sweet. I like Dark he's everything that Daisuke would probably like to be. At least when it comes to girls. Although Dark is a total flirt he also has a good heart and his own troubled past. The only woman he ever truly loved was Risa's grandmother. Maybe that is the reason behind his flirtatious personality. I sorta resented him a bit when he kissed Risa because Daisuke still liked her (although I'll never know why) and I felt like hugging Daisuke when you see the sad look on his face at the end of that episode. I just thought Dark went a little too far on that part. But I also like him cause even though he doesn't show it he really does care about Daisuke at least as the show progresses. He tries hard to protect Daisuke's body unlike Krad.

Risa: hehe Risa I'm sorry girl but I just don't have very good feelings for you. Even at the end of the series my feelings didn't change much. I disagree with Dark when he said she had become a fine young lady. Even at the end of the series she still had a lot of growing up to do. She just got on my last nerve from the beginning till the end of the series. Although she got hurt in the end because of her feelings for Dark she did deserve it. She was nothing but a bother and a burden for him. I think that helped her realize what love truly was but I don't think it helped her grow much personality wise.

Riku: I'm so glad she was the one that ended up with Daisuke. They just hit it off from the very start. It was great how they found so much in common and were able to talk to each other about anything. Her look in the beginning of the show is ms. tough, I'm a tomboy and an athletic type. But as the show progresses and her feelings for Daisuke become more revealed this brings out more of her feminine side I think. Her looks really get toned down and she has a more softer look when she finally get's together with Daisuke. She doesn't have that stubborn, stern look that she did in the beginning. So yay for Riku on getting the one she loves!!!

Krad: He was just down right stubborn, and selfish and didn't give a hoot and holler about what happened to Satoshi's body. He was cool looking and I loved his wings but that's the only thing I liked about him. I hope he was able to find peace though at the end of the series.

Satoshi: Satoshi is just down right a cool character. I felt very sorry for him at times. But he really tried to help Daisuke in the end and with Daisuke's help he was able to overcome his fate as well. I hope for the love of god he doesn't end up with Risa. He's too good for her in my opinion!

I could add more characters that were in the show but I just wanted to get the main ones in. Arigatou Gozaimashita!

haha how odd is it that in Kingdom Hearts the girl's name was "Riku." and Miyu Irino does the voice for "Sora." and "Sora" really does like his friend "Riku." I mean hello? something was planned there from the start I tell you. and if I recall doesn't Riku in Kingdom Hearts have short hair as well? and then Miyu Irino ends up doing the voice for Daisuke in D.N. Angel and Daisuke falls for "Riku." :P

Actually...the girl Sora likes is named Kairi (the girl with the short brown hair). The other boy (who I said resembled Satoshi a bit only with longer hair) is named Riku. There are some shounen-ai implications with Sora and Riku at times, though, much like Daisuke and Satoshi. :P

Very nice character summaries, by the way. I hope Risa continues to change as a person, though, so someday she will be worthy of Satoshi. I'm just a hopeless romantic when it comes to that. :P And, even though Dark's such a ladies' man, I still can't help but feel a tinge of sadness when I think about him. (Even though I didn't really like him in the anime, I like him a lot in the manga...:P)

I liked With's dubbed "kyuu!" noises. :P It was very cute. (I watched both the dubbed version and the subbed version at different parts of the story...) I'd say it was similar to the original version.

I liked the the dub. Kevin Corn did Daisuke's voice, and he sounded good in the role, IMO. I liked most of the voices (especially Greg Ayres as Satoshi!!!), since most of them matched the characters. (Even though I don't like Risa much, I liked her dub VA Luci Christian. Her voice matched Risa perfectly!) Vic Mignogna as Dark was a good choice as well. The dub's worth a listen, IMO. ;)

Nice to meet another DNAngel fan. As far as how many volumes of DNAngel...well...there are 11 volumes out now, and I don't know if volume 11 is the conclusion or not. We'll just have to see when it's released here next year. (Love the awesome, gorgeous Dark avatar, btw!!! :))

Oh, I liked him in the anime, but compared to the manga version...I like the manga version better, since Dark likes (or liked...) Riku in the manga...I thought that was cute. (I also liked Dark in the anime because of his dub voice......Vic Mignogna did a great job as Dark's VA! ^_^) I guess Dark seemed even more conceited in the anime to me...But the main reason I didn't like him as much as the manga version was because Dark didn't like Riku in the anime...he liked Risa! So I did a random search for DN Angel pictures tonight and I discovered something quite surprising... Goodness gracious, there really is a Playstation 2 game of DN Angel! There's barely any info on it but from what I found I was right in thinking there would be missions involving Dark being his thiefy self. And yes, he does have to avoid laser traps, just as I thought. Why am I not surprised? Anyway, the game seems to be a dialogue based one where you make choices from available options. There's a bunch of puzzle solving too.

Well, in my efforts to find a cute With picture or two, I came across better... Dark! In the outfit I've wanted to get a full photo of before, exactly like this:

The extras won't be included on the thinpack, I don't think. :( (After all, ADV stopped putting extras on thinpacks after FMP!, Noir, and Rahxephon...) I think the new rule with thinpacks is if the show was popular, it will get a thinpack almost immediately after it finishes in individual disc form. Others that are getting the thinpack treatment are just more ways for ADV to make money, I guess. :P (Geneon is releasing thinpacks of their more popular series. ^_^)

The first time I saw a pic of Dark was when I browsed a site I normally visited. The webmaster had posted up a message saying the site was closed. There on the front page was a nice pic of "some hot anime guy in leather". The pic has a purple hue to it and Dark looks like he's coming out of hiding from a wall. To this day it's still one of my favorite Dark pics.

Has anyone heard the drama soundtracks yet? The series of them is called "Wink".

Also Did anyone else Notice that his Future Son has Rikus eye and more of her Hair color? :) That made me think instantly he would wind up with Riku.

Well...if you like cute and fluffy romance (which starts to show itself around volume 3), then you would probably like the manga. Also...there are plenty of bishies to love in this manga via Dark, Satoshi, and Krad (and Daisuke too...even though he's more cute than bishie). Personally, I thought the manga started taking some nice turns around vol. 6 or 7, when a more complex part of the storyline takes place. The series is at 11 volumes now (I believe it is still continuing in Japan?), and it's a good series. I would definitely recommend it. ^_^ (TOKYOPOP has released 10 volumes of the manga so far. :))

(You can also read through this thread for more opinions about the manga. ^_^)

The anime was good, IMO, but I wish it hadn't been so episodic at first. The OP theme Byakuya~True Light definitely became one of my favorite opening themes, though. :)

^_^ Hello uhm...people? Anyway, I love DNAngel :P! I liked the Manga a LOT better than the anime. I've read all the manga volumes out so far and all the anime...and well in some parts of the anime they all look (what's the best word?)...deformed. Yeah, it's anime so we shouldn't have such high expectations but some parts were, like, unacceptable. :uhh: but that's just my opinion. Besides that I thought the anime was pretty good.
It's been an entire year since there has been a new chapter of DNAngel! >_< Which upsets me (to say the least) because I'm beginning to wonder what Sugisaki-san is doing. I heard she was working on Lagoon Engine and since it's been an entire year you'd think that there'd be more volumes of THAT at tokyopop...but no. So either she's doing whatnot elsewhere or Tokyopop is extremely slow (And I wouldn't be that surprised if it was either of them).
I loved the opening song also and the caged bird one (I forgot the title).
I'm so waiting for the next chapter >_< I wonder what's going to happen...Darn Sugisaki-san for the cliffhanger!! I hope she adds a chapter soon otherwise I'm going to cry T_T

^ I enjoyed DNAngel as well. I've been patiently waiting for the newest volume, as well as some more Lagoon Engine, and even Rizelmine. DNAngel is currently at volume 11, which Tokyopop will release in about a month's time. The reason it took so long was mainly because they had caught up. Lagoon Engine Vol 4 will be out in December :P

Apparently Sugisaki-san doesn't work on them REGULARLY, so it's kind of a pain... but oh well. We learn to deal :P

I know, I got so excited when I found out there was going to be a volume 4 coming soon! ^^ I really love Lagoon Engine, it's been so long and when I first finished the third one it was like: spook Yukiru Sugisaki to continue the series! I was thinking: what the heck? Then I learned a few more things about her and tis is apparently what she likes to do...lots of hiatus...But I guess it's worth the wait (long, painful wait).

She doesn't work on them regularly? ... What does she do with the rest of her time? I mean she has a group working with her so it's not like she's doing it by herself...So I wouldn't imagine it to take so long. `_` Then again her art is great...so... I kind of sort of understand.

Well, the Japanese releases were at times 9 months apart on average... so you can only imagine. Vol 11 was released in Japan on August 10, 2005... compared to Vol 10, which was released February 17, 2004. Vol 9 was around July of 2003. It doesn't really follow much of a pattern, but let's just say it's just one of those irradic releases. It bugs us more because although it's been running since 1997 (so 9 years), the translation has only been running since 2004 (2 years)... so you can imagine that releasing 9 years worth in 2 years was going to cause them to catch up sooner or later.

Well, great news people. Sugisaki-san has decided to start another series called Eden (http://eden.angst-boi.net/). So far there are no scanlations (so I can't tell you what it's about), but I don't think I'm that much of a fan of this series. The art has changed a bit and this seems to have a more mature theme to it (aka, no kawaii kids, mostly adults). Oh well, I hope when I read it I change my view on it.
so you can imagine that releasing 9 years worth in 2 years was going to cause them to catch up sooner or later.
Yeah, it happens. But we're going to have to wait a LOT longer because there is no such thing as a 'volume 12' even out in japan! @_@ Have they even gotten past the end of volume 11? I don't think so...but I'm not sure.
