Favorite Final Fantasy Main Character?

Plain and simple. Who is your favorite main character from the following Final Fantasy games on the poll? For me, it'd probably be between Cloud and Squall, though I honestly though Cloud was cooler. Cecil has a Paladin was cool though of course. ^_^ If your wondering why I didn't put FFVI on the poll, it doesn't exactly have a main character in my opinion. -_-; Unless you want to count Terra as the main character, but I wouldn't.

Cloud was pretty cool, but i just liked Zidane's personality more. i felt like i didn't really get to know Cloud well enough. and Zidane had a tail, you can't beat a hero with a tail.

I picked Zidane. Quite a charming and personable character. Nice to see a character who already has friends in his world who just ends up making more. With 7 and 8, they were both loner types. 10... nothing too interesting about Tidus. He was in another world.

Because FFVI doesn't exactly have a main character in my honest opinion. It may just be me thinking that, but that's what I think. All the other Final Fantasy games, you can't switch the main character out of your party, and in FFVI you can switch Terra out of your party. I wouldn't consider her a main character.

You are correct about that there wouldn't be much plot to begin with if there wasn't Terra. Since a good portion of the first half of the game is revolved around her. By the time you end up getting her back in your party though and around the time you go to the Floating Continent though, the only real plot left in the story is just to kill Kefka and save the world.

I agree with this, In almost 90% of RPG's (I've played) the main character leaves for a while. Just look at Xenogears, Fei was the leader of the party but there was a time when he was one for a really long time (I think the whole id incedent).

that's very true, that's not a standard you can use... if the existence of a main character is not clear, the way i tend to judge it is if they're a required party member for the final battle. even in games in which the "main" character is not always in your party, they are almost always required for the final showdown. i can't use this to answer the question though... i actually still need to finish FFVI... -_-;

i feel your pain. i think i started it in the summer of 2004... but this is far from one of my first RPGs... i usually only play one game at a time and finish it quick, but i just am really slow with VI for some reason... i'm near the end. all i have left to do is go through the final level and such, but i want to play through all the extra stuff before i do. and knowing how long that is going to take, i just can't sit down and do it... i'll finish it... eventually... :P

i wouldn't worry about it. since nobody seems to want to vote for Bartz, you could just say a vote for Bartz = a vote for Terra -_-; i myself am not really convinced that Terra is the main character... i always thought of Locke more as the main character (but thinking about it now, that isn't really right either...). so i'm not really ruling out what you thought about it not really having a main character...

Nope. You could use anyone you want in your party in the final battle against Kefka. I can't remember if I used Terra ever or not against Kefka, but I almost always used Edgar, Sabin, and Gogo at least. :)

Try listening to his voice. Well, at least his English dub voice makes him come off as a whiny brat. However, after hearing his Japanese voice, I'm shocked. He's voiced by the same seiyuu who voices Kurosaki Ichigo in Bleach (note that Ichigo has a very bad *** sounding voice) and yet in the English version of the game, his voice sounds like nails on a chalkboard.

That is a really good site, I grabbed a bunch of the Japanese FMVs while I was there. When I first saw them, I thought FFX looks like it would have a pretty different feel to it just by how different Tidus is portrayed.
