Will there be an AN Forums meet?: It's pretty much an AN@AX tradition so it's a definite. ^_^ We will be meeting at around 5PM Saturday @ the Hilton lobby.

Never heard of the caralinas, however if you meant North and South Carolina, then nothing that I know of in either state.

Which day? Depends on which day is interesting to me the most. I only go one day, despite Anaheim only being 50 minutes away. Too lazy to go to the rest, and I don't usually find other days entertaining (like the cosplay masquerade day. I'm not a fan of cosplay.-_-; ).

Definitely going! Why not? This year's AX was soooo cool! My first AX, but still . . . it's the biggest con I've been to so far! Next year's AX I plan to do HnR with some friends.

For those that will have their first AX next year, a word of advice: bring something to entertain yourself and some friends with while waiting in line for registration as well as for events like concerts, AMV contest, and Masquerade. With AX getting bigger by the year if the staff dosen't find a more efficient way of registering and handing out badges for tens of thousands of people...then expect a longer wait. >_<

There's Otakon in Baltimore, MD and Anime Weekend Atlanta in GA. Both are near enough to either NC or SC that you can drive to them.

there's otakon (biggest convention on east coast) held in baltimore, Maryland
Katsucon usually held in crystal city/washington d.c virginia
nekocon would probably be closest to you (it's in cheasapeake/virginia beach)

I can't comment for the registration. This year, the president of my anime club had to wait 6 HOURS just to get our badges. The people who were just walk-ins got theirs in less than one. You figured the people who registered over 6 months before would get theirs sooner but nope, the ones who do it last minute gets the last laugh.

For many years running, their registration still sucks @$$ badly.

Man, my friends and I only waited like 30 minutes max. Then again, we paid for Sunday and came in mid Saturday to pick up our badges. Maybe we'll go back to full passes next year if the guests are better and we're not extremely broke.

Native of Orange County. Costa Mesa. Actually... as I've been to the Disneyland back when the JungleCruise was a seperate ride the con centre weas thje arens in Anahiem, they still had the Rams, There was the smaller hotels around Disney.... WHY DIDN"T I HEAR OF THIS BEFORE!!!!

Even more of a reason to go this year is cause they will be celebrating their 15th anniversary. Last year I wasn't able to go only cause my store manager felt his vacation took priority over mine even though I told him about it months before he mentioned anything about his. So this year my fiance and I are definately going, if my boss doesn't let me go cause of his vacation time that will tell me how selfish he is being and I'm just going to quite. I have too much stuff planned to miss it this year. BTW I didn't realize that you guys had to wait so long for your passes. My fiance and I went to the 2004 Expo and I think it only took us about 10-15 minutes to get ours and we had purchased our tickets in advance. Well, anyone that is going would there be any way to recognize you if I saw you :P Maybe I'll come over and say hello :)

This year I am cosplaying Rangiku Matsumoto from Bleach, Kurogane from Tsubasa Chronicle, Chiba from BECK and possibly Mugen from Samurai Champloo.

Most of the events? Depends on what you think of when you think of the events. The Hilton hosted more of the convention stuff during the day, the Mariott had the night time entertainment like the screening rooms and karoke and such. I was quite happy with staying at the Hilton.

For me, commissioned. I can't sew to save my life, so I get a friend to commission all of mine (exception: Soujiro, which was made by another friend's friend, who I didn't know). I know it costs to pay another for commissions, but I think the cosplays I get in return are worth their price.

However, if I can get the costume by myself from stores, I would do so; I typically only ask my friend for a commission for costumes (or parts of them) when they can't be store-bought.

1. let's see.....plan what you're gonna do, if not ur gonna get overloaded. there is so much to do there! actually read the book they give you with all the event times, it helps ALOT

2. however much money your saving up for AE06, save more. I don't know how many times i've gone over-budget because there's always something more to buy

Heh, I didn't have to worry about that, it was all about strategy. I am 6'3" 270 lbs, so I stood by (and sorry about the stereotype here, but they were in this case) mainly Asians since I tend to be several inches taller than them. I don't get into pushing people since it's always the big guys who get blamed for pushing over a pile no matter who was actually doing the shoving. Still, I managed to snag the Menchi and Saizo antennae toppers, a Mechazawa plushie, and a Johnathan plushie. Didn't bother even trying for the shirts since I knew they'd never be XXL:) Still, lots of money is a must. I brought along $2000, and only spent around $1000, so I was glad that I had enough of a reserve:D

Anywho, The price you said, the 128, is the normal price for me, since my dad works there. Is 219 for a double bed, just for those few days. I am sure going, already got a room at the Alamo inn, which is 2 blocks away from the convention. It is cheap, and by cheap I mean that if you are used to nice places and like everything looking super nice, the alamo is not for you. I just want a place to sleep and just keep my stuff in a safe place, which the alamo will offer to me and for less.

Oh yeah!! the marriet is sold out, lol. So fast too. O_o


Hilton is too much for me, in order to stay there for just two nights is around 400. Yeah, you can say to break it up with friends, but I do not trust online friends that much, just a few, but not that much. Maybe next year I'll save up enough for a so-so room, but for this year I just wanted a room to stay in and just be able to enjoy the expo.

A. Anime Expo
B. Comic Con in San Diego

Nope, you just sound like a simpleton. You did all the referring as if you just needed a single room. As in "All I need" and "it will cost me". Never mentioned a thing about needed a second bed, now did you simpleton? Also, I stayed there last year for 3 nights simpleton, the grand total including taxes, and 3 meals eaten at the hotel, plus an internet connection? $528. We still have failed to arrive at that mythical $200 a night, haven't we simpleton? Don't assume everyone goes off shooting their mouths off like you do without doing a little research. Perhaps you are not looking at the convention rate, which would completely invalidate everything you've said. Too bad for you.

Well, there are ALOT of hotels in the area, considering it's in the area of disneyland. If you have a car and don't mind a short drive(and find a parking space somewhere in the area randomly) you can just look for one of the slightly further ones so the price wont' be really freaking expensive.

Last year me and my friends stayed at a Quality Inn & Suites that was like 10 minutes away and saved quite a bit of money just staying there.

I finally got my badge yesterday. And I plan on picking up my badge holder the day before the con since you can pick it up from 1:00-9:00 p.m. That way I won't have to leave at six in the morning on Saturday.

Damn. I hope I can get the entire weekend of AnimeExpo off! We've been hard at work on finishing up plans for a 91 unit apartment that are due on July 10! I've been working 10 to 16 hour days, almost everyday for the past 3 weeks! ( 'o')!!!
