Tell me that isn't bomb as hell?
In January, rumors swirled around that the next Need for Speed game would be subtitled "Most Wanted." Today, those rumors were confirmed, as Electronic Arts officially announced the game. Like its predecessor, Need for Speed Underground 2, Need for Speed: Most Wanted is being developed by Vancouver studio EA Canada and will be available for the PC, DS, Xbox, GameCube, Game Boy Advance, and PlayStation 2. It will also be the second Need for Speed game released for the PSP handheld. According to EA, Most Wanted will combine "the thrill of illicit street racing and tuner customization with the intensity of strategic police pursuits." The description would appear to confirm rumors that the series is returning to its chase-centric roots, versus the story-driven gameplay of Need for Speed Underground 2, which received mixed reviews. However, the game will still have "a dynamic open world," meaning it will likely again feature a sprawling metropolis as its setting.

I don't think NFS needs customization, that's why I didn't want NFS:U or U2. If the game has an arcade style hot pursuit mode like NFS:HP2, I'll be happy.

I dont like any of the Underground games. I bought the first one and beat it three times and it sucked really. It wasnt any fun. NFS: HP2 is still god of arcade racing games.
It's seems like they put too much into customization that it takes away from the rest of the game. I hope they can make this worthwhile.

what I didn't like about NFS:U was that the cars just didn't strike my interest. You could drive a civic or 40 different cars that look like a civic or a mustang. NFS:HP had farrarris and Lamborghinis and all the other holy grails of racing. The Underground series is more like a playable version of "pimp my ride".
NFS: HP2 is still god of arcade racing games.
I won't contest the game's greatness, but Burnout 3 and Outrun 2 are contending for #1 along with HP2 in my book.

Ahh, yes the Burnout series. I've played 1-3 for PS2 and Xbox. They are among the best of the arcade racers. But, NFS seems to appeal to me more. But, dont get me wrong. When I first played Burnout I was addicted. Still am too...I just dont have the games.
As for Outrun. Hmm....I'm not really all for it.
I just dont want NFS to lose it to sorry games like Juiced.

I played the original Outrun on the Sega Master System back in the late '80s, so I was hooked at a young age  I just wish OR2 would come out for PS2. I know it never will, but one can dream.
I thought games like Juiced were supposed to be ripoffs of NFS:U2

Finally, Need for Speed is back with the police chases. The ones on the PC were so much fun. ^_^

There are "exotic" cars and "hot pursuits" in NFS:MW too. You guys didn't read? I saw a Porsche GT something in it for sure.

Yeah, I read, Fobb. I'm just saying how Underground Games weren't as fun to me as the Hot Pursuit games for the reasons I'd listed. If "most wanted" takes the series back to how it was in hot pursuit, I'll be happy.

I don't get it, wasn't this a 360 title? Now it's a 360 title and every other system on the previous generation as well?

Wouldn't be the first time EA released a title for the current and next generations. They were putting Madden games on PS1 for a while, so why not NFS? Besides, the 360 will be brand-new, its sales uncertain and fanbase not guaranteed. So, this could be a marketing move by EA to ensure that the game sells well, just in case the 360 doesn't.

They lost their touch with Underground is all I'm saying. I hope they can get it back with this.

Really? I actually liked Underground better than all those other ones. NFSU is the one that actually sparked my interest in racing games.

Hmm. I've been playing NFS since the first one came out. The only thing worse than NFSU was Porche Unleashed.

I didn't like PU either. It was PU!!! lol. It was too slow, and the turning isn't all that bad on a real porsche right?

Underground operates like a differnt game fomr the other NFS. I think it's goo that they introduced customization but it's not really what I'm liking from them.
However, I've always wanted to put a body kit on a Ferrari or Lambo.

Dude NFSU is a pimp-*** game for like two days true, but it REALLY gets boring, u just race around a boring city all day, I mean night. Good music, but game really gets worn and boring.

Yea. The tracks are boring and there is none that stand out at all.

THAT my friends...I solved with my OWN music. Listening to some Tupac, or Andre Nickatina really gets the racing juices flowing. But anyways.
The reason I love this game so much is that you can actually make this car YOU'RE OWN. Sure, in the other games you have the priveledge of saying "I unlocked a Lambo!", but in this game you can say "I unlocked a Lancer and PIMPED IT OUT!!!!"

Wee! 1-year-old thread revival!
I just bought this game a few days ago, as a Greatest Hit. I see that I posted in this thread a year ago before I actually played the game. Now that I've played it, I think it's awesome. I haven't had this much playing Need for Speed since Hot Pursuit 2.
The greatness of Most wanted makes me curious about the Underground games. They never appealed to me because it was all-urban at night (or so I thought). So, I want to know if every single race is at night in Underground, and also if they have Lamborghinis and porches in there, like they do in Most Wanted.
