The only thing bad about this game(IMO) is the community. They piss me off.

The only thing that pisses me off is the level 60 horde who think they are badass and just kill me while I'm trying to do a quest or something. Then I try and be nice to the horde, but my anger level is quickly rising..

There's a good example. But from what I played(friends house) the community is a bunch of 12 year olds who think saying the "F" word is cool and only want to do PVP.

I remember him telling me he was playing on some realm called Aggramar. Maybe it's just the realm, and it doesn't have as bad of a community as I think.

I played until around 42 (along with a couple of sub 20 alts) and quit due to the community as well. I've played mmorpgs for years and it was only second to Lineage II for the worst, most childish community out there. Great game, terrible fanbase.
It's strange, that when the game first came out everyone was helpful and friendly. No one was making sexist/racist/homophobic remarks left and right. You didn't see players named "Cameltoe". Very few players had grammatical cancer. The messageboards weren't filled with egotistical bickering. The overall douchebag ratio was surprisingly low for the first couple of months. It was nice.

I have never really had a problem with the community on my server. I was sitting in IF one day and I had a question about alchemy so I posted it in general, and I had close to 10 people /w me. Now about the Alliance vs. Horde thing, I really don't like the alliance, but the only reason I play that side is because all of my friends play alliance and they don't want to start a new character. And it sucks being around a lvl 10-30 horde player with the constant attacks on the XR's. It gets very boring after a while.
Anyways my character information is:
Server:Terenas
Characters: Curtdahurt, Lvl 48 Human Rogue and Curtle, Lvl 12 Tauren Druid.

Gah, I can't decide if I want to keep playing my 33 druid or not, mages just seem so much cooler, but then I'm deleting 3 days of my life... I'm still gonna keep him, probably run him to 40 in the next week or so, it's just the 30-40 drought I hear of, then you hit 35 or 36 and SM to 40, then just instance and some questing. June 30th, 2005, 07:30 PM
Alright, here we go!
1-10: Took me about 10 hours the first time, now I can do it in 5-6.
11-20: Eh, maybe a day, your first time through at least.
31-40: Probably a long time. I've played around 15 hours and I'm at 33, can't really say.
That's really all I can say, I hear when you hit 50, you have only gotten half of your total XP 1-60, maybe a little more, but 50-60 takes a LONG time.

Great, I want a game that takes skill. Not some guy who is good at the game because he has no other life. But I guess thats how games are.
Though, I think I'm getting the game. 15 bucks a month doesn't sound to bad.
The Loner
June 30th, 2005, 07:35 PM
Yeh, it takes skill. I can honestly say that, you can't just do the same thing over and over, like one type of spell, or attack, and win. You'll need numerous winning stragegies by the time your even 30 for PvP. And the PvP is amazing. I'll get a few videos, it's awesome.
The Loner
June 30th, 2005, 07:38 PM
Alright, uploading the Rubix (Horde Druid) video and a mage video on to my server now. Both of them have basic strategies, and the mage video makes him seem amazing, but mages really aren't THAT amazing, but they can own some ***.
The druid generally moonfires then bear forms, the does some healing if he needs it.
The mage fireballs, then whatever the big fireball is to do ~2000 damage, then does some arcane move to finish them usually, but as you'll notice, he doesn't have healing spells, making it harder for him.

Nah, PvE servers are more boring. I just don't see the idea of them, then you'd HAVE to play BG for most of your action. I like keeping on my toes. Sure, it's annoying sometimes, but then you get those fair fights when you OWN.

Is it Horde vs. Alliance? I would like to know incase I decide to PvP.
The Loner
June 30th, 2005, 08:05 PM
It's not ONLY PvP...
It goes like this. In PvP servers, in contested zones, you can be attacked at any time by the opposing faction. On PvE servers, you have to want to turn on your PvP tag to PvP someone, so there is MUCH less action.

People hardly raid XR on Illidan, but then again Illidan is in horde's favor for population. I'm amazed horde population servers exist. Everyone's a sissy alliance player. D:
To the person who likes necromancers: you'll feel right at home with warlock.
Which reminds me. If you're going to be uploading videos Loner, you should upload the one of the old warlock pet bug (if you've seen it). Comedy gold. Warlock pets, if they were dismissed with an active debuff, would recreate the spell on summon. So some gnome has his pet hit by a high level raid boss's aoe, dismisses him, then summons him up again in the IF auction house. I've never seen so many yellow 2000-4000s pop up in my life.

I disagree. Though I am only an alliance character to play with buddies, all that really pisses me off about the Alliance is the number of NIGHT ELVES. Holy jeez, at least 1/3 the population of Alliance is night elves. I HATE NIGHT ELVES. And what sucks more is I HAVE TO BE ONE to be a druid. God I hate my race, but I love the druid class. So 50-50 I guess.

I'm thinking after I get my Druid to 60, might wanna do a Warrior or Pali alt. Whats the real difference?
Michael
July 2nd, 2005, 10:17 PM
The real difference is in the fact that a warrior can deal a lot of damage, and can actually hold hate when tanking.
Paladins are supposedly insanely boring post 40, because they become nothing more than an extra healbot to any instance.
The Loner
July 2nd, 2005, 10:46 PM

I never found Leroy even remotely funny. It's retarded at best. The fact that it was staged, and so obviously so, made it even worse.
Maybe it's because I've been around MMORPGs and this sort of thing for a long time.
Well, no. I found it funny in FFXI when an idiot of a raid would accidentally call for help on an HNM. I found it funny when people wiped because their black mages and dark knights were incapable of stunning a wide open self destruct move.
I find a lot of wipes funny, but not this whole staged Leroy Jenkins bs. Seriously. Worst. internet. fad. ever. I'd rather go back to typing in alt code ascii characters than hear anymore of this Leroy business.
[edit]
Actually. I know what ruined it. Ventrillo. The excessive over-acting. Play it on mute, it is hillarious. You know, minus the whole cliche of the over-acted terribly staged LEROY JENKINS.

Do people actually do it?
And if you go to Pals for life website, they have one funny video where they have a low level (like 5) go into badlands with a druid stealthing, then he comes out, roots them, and like 5 60s just rush out. It was funny for a little while.

People rarely do anything -that- dramatic, but there are plenty of impatient players that'll rush right into battle before the tank even knows where they went or the healer has had time to rest. Those players are all over the place.

Wow, have you guys heard the flying rumors that they might do a rollback? Gah, I've made the most progress ever in the last 7 days, if they do a rollback... ****!
Well, they are thinking about it because low levels (like 30s) were going into Mara and getting mass Krol Blades, and as you know, they sell for like 900g, so you know how much cash the people who sell gold for a living could make online... No good, and it crash some server's economy.
!n|=3c+iOn
July 19th, 2005, 10:12 AM
from what i've heard it works like this...
and they were selling the krol blades for about 300g in a screenshot...
and this has been happening since the patch...
high lvl person with the krol blade/money enters mara...*it freezes at the loading screen for 10 mins i believe*
comes back with double what they had so double gold/items in inventory...
then they give it to someone else and if it crashes they get double too...
it happens rarely but if it did happen you have double what you had...
and imo i doubt they'll do a rollback...
Lynx
July 19th, 2005, 11:42 AM
Whatever Blizzzard's fix for the exploit, the last thing I'd want to see is a rollback. I'd rather they just fix the problem and ban all the gold farmers and exploiters but they probably won't do that.

Why did you have to post four times? D:
I said in my post that it wasn't just me, that it had to do with the players, and nothing to do with which faction they're on.
Don't care about paladin's end game set stats, I still say lawbringer shoulderpads look lame as hell. Not as bad as the warlock clown outfit, but still-- retarded. Thankfully, Judgement's don't look bad (but also don't stand out.)
And priests can't even hope to compare in numbers to rogues. There are probably as many active priests overall in existance as there are night elf rogues.
And bah, I'm sitting in Desolace when people start talking about pvp action in Kolkar Village. So I run over there. Takes about 5 minutes, but I find someone.
Oh, look, it's not just someone, it's a night elf rogue-- stealthed. She backs away as soon as I turn around and look at her, drops out of my stealth detection range (while I have humanoid active, I was expecting real pvp, not a bunch of rogues). I drop a flare on her, and she just sprints away. So I mark her, sic my pet, and hit dash so he can catch up, maybe she'll be retarded enough to stop. I get close enough to pop her with a conc shot, but right about then ne rogue number 2 jumps me (bad rogue too, he had so much opportunity to screw me over since he had the jump). I change focus from the sissy runner to the guy who's actually fighting me.
First I confuse the guy, since my pet is a bit off and needs to get on this rogue to get his adrenaline pumping a little more. My conc shot timer is still recharging, so I'm trying to keep this guy at bay in melee range until I can do something to get the distance going. The whole time we're pretty much just dancing while my pet kicks his ***, he starts going for my pet... k,thx rogue. Aimed Shot crit 550 damage-- HK. Of course in the dancing part I had to click my gem-studded belt for the first time, and I'm still down to ~25% hp with kolkar aggro. Other NE finds me again and kills me before I can get a spot to rest. Oh well.
Go back, get my corpse, lay a freeze, pop stealth detection, and just pray no one comes while I'm waiting for regen. Get 100%, and I see the original NE rogue again, pop on her, start knocking her down, get her to about 21% while she's running. I'd be running too as a rogue if a hunter got the drop on me and I was marked, so I didn't think much of it. Then I run into 2 60s, and find out where she's been running everytime she gets aggro. To level 60s. God damn it. Why are people such sissies? Why do I have to get to 60 just to hopefully have fun in a pvp environment. Bah. :(
WoW needs battlegrounds more similar to DAoC. Not this Alterac Valley and Warsong Gulch CTF instance crap. We need a big open zone for specific level ranges, straight up pvp, or maybe make a little incentive with capture points. Don't want to be exactly like DAOC? Mix it up a little with a king of the hill style play, make it timed, rather than siege the keep. Make it kinda like a game of domination in Unreal Tournament. Do something other than make people wait in queues for hours to play... capture the flag in a map that's excessively exploitable. :(

Well I don't find anything wrong with the marksman line really, other than it's only half your points, and you have to take something. Since I'm on a PvP server with my troll, it's almost necessity to pick up counter attack. A hunter can never go wrong with another way to immobilize their enemy, as I see it.
So I'm probably going to end up with all but the aura in Marksman tree-- but since I'm going straight down marksman right now, I'd pick it up until I got to 60, then respec that point into counterattack.
Of course, they're probably going to make a number of changes, so I'm afraid to cap out marksman and just sit on points.

I guess my buddies were right, horde stuff is REALLY bad now. I mean, I can see why my friend gave up on his main, because he basically gets ganked all the time. It's god awful when I'm about to kill a 50 mob that I've been fighting for 2 minutes, and some 54 horde has to come and gank me. FOR WHAT. Could you at least let me finish the effin mob you dumbass?
Oh well, some horde are nice, I saw a lock today that some how translated into dont kil, it's was pretty good.

Three bars into my 57th level, find it very difficult to get into a group nowadays. So I just PvP and grind. Like the look of the new Talent trees ^_^
Michael
August 2nd, 2005, 03:50 PM
Yeah, my troll hunter is on Illidan. I'm highly considering just rerolling as an orc. Mostly because of the upcoming hunter talent revamp (http://worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/hunters/talents.html).
My Troll was going for a 30marksman 21survival, for counter attack in pvp. But as of the upcoming revamp, CA no longer exists.
Survival seems pretty sweet now. The Tier 1 Slayer talents are definitely interesting. Wyvern Sting would be amazing for getting the jump on people in PvP. 12 second sleep followed by a 300 point dot. And if you can train that like you can Aimed Shot... oh my god. The major downside being that you pretty much have to get the jump with it, because you can only use it outside of combat like traps. It definitely sounds awesome for an offensive scout type hunter.
If I were to stick to the troll, I'd want to switch to Survival/Marksman. 31 Survival for Wyvern Sting, then 20 Marksman for Mortal Shots. If I went orc, I'd go Beast/Marksman, 31 Beast for Bestial Wrath and again 20 Marksman for Mortal Shots. Of course aimed shot is included in the 20 Marksman points.
Man, just imagine a DPS pet procing full rank frenzy during a Beastial Wrath. Beastial Wrath gives +100% damage. Add to that a 30% haste from a frenzy proc. Sweet.

I'd definetly be up for an AN server to play on, as long as everyone played their characters every once in a while.
I have like 4 alliance alts, so I'd probably be more up for horde, since I wanna try a shammie anyway. I do have a warrior orc though, badass stuff. Just play my druid the most.
Anyway, any ideas for a server? PvP? PvE? I'd say PvP for sure, PvE bores me.
The Loner
August 3rd, 2005, 12:43 PM
I suggest:
Dark Iron - Horde Side
It's one of the new servers, PvP, probably medium pop right now, seems like it'd be fun to play on a new server, with a lot of people to quest with low levels.
I'm gonna roll a shammie, but only to level 2-3 in case anyone disagrees. If you haven't tried PvP, don't listen to the people who say it sucks, it's awesome.
Whaddaya think?
EDIT: From the time on the server, it appears to be west coast. I live in Chicago, ping VERY LOW, lower than my normal Central server. Good stuff.
Michael
August 3rd, 2005, 12:49 PM
I play mainly horde, but I like horde, and have no problems staying.
PvP would be the more fun route.
[add]
Not sure it's a good idea to just randomly hit a server. D: Personally I'd rather go for one of the more established ones, just because the economy would be ready, and the side balances would be more concrete.
Right now Dark Iron is 1.1:1 alliance favor (activity wise), which definitely isn't bad, but that's also the listed ratio with only just over 4000 total players.
I'm afraid we'd get a footing on the server, and it'd get flooded out with alliance and just make the game a whole bunch of waiting/defending.
I'd like to hit an established server with a balanced ratio, that way we know it'll take a lot to mess up the sides.
For a Horde PVP server, I'd say something between
Daggerspine (http://www.warcraftrealms.com/census.php?serverid=59)(1.1:1 alliance favor, total population: ~17,500)
Spirestone (http://www.warcraftrealms.com/census.php?serverid=433)(1:1 balanced, total population: ~15,000)
Ursin (http://www.warcraftrealms.com/census.php?serverid=542)(1:1.1 horde favor, total population: ~12,000)
Kalecgos (http://www.warcraftrealms.com/census.php?serverid=540)(1:1.3 horde favor, total population: ~12,500)
Kalecgos and Ursin are actually "New" servers, and have 3 times that of Dark Iron. D:

I've been doing some snooping around and have found that hunters will become more able melee people and there pets will use almost all those left over talent points my 60 hunter's pet has just about 200 extra points :P
And the druid will be also more capable of fighting the shamans I mean come on i finally got the cenereaon rainment took forever and shamans still have mail armor, think about it a healer ranged caster that can use shields and double as a melee with all his enchants I mean my dad is a 60 "note im 18 not living with them LOLZ" pally and they still get him down pretty far and he has the law bringer set :P and in gameinformer with the KING KONG on the front they said 2 expansions coming soon so I found several spots they will open up so look for more and post em but hunters and druids for life all

Bwhahahah. Ohh, man. I just got done with a 10 man Strat Dead run that turned into a 8 man. And our Lvl 60 priest turned out to be a gold farmer, we all suspected it but we gave her the benefit of the doubt. We definetly knew that she was a farmer near the end. There was a very cool off-hand that our warlock wanted badly, so he used his ticket to roll on it, but the damn priest rolled on it also, and won it. So the leader of the group changed it to master looter, and we moved on. So we get to the Baron and completly own him. I think all of my backstabs were crits and one of my 5 point eviserates hit him for over 1.5k. Well a blue robe dropped that would have been perfect for that priest, but everyone in the group knew by then that the priest was a farmer. And I hadn't used my ticket yet, so I did. I am now the proud owner of a lvl 58 robe. Everyone in my group thought it was the funniest thing ever. Well everyone except for that damn priest.

And man, I'm so ****ing glad I'm only playing World of Warcraft for the free ride to kill time right now. They're nerfing Mortal Shots, because it's "unfair to rogues." Yeah, because rogues don't already overshadow hunters in damage. Because hunters have a talent to guarantee criticals. Because hunters can, just from talents, raise their crit chance significantly. Because exceptionally geared hunters have the same crit rate as a low-end to average geared rogue.
Vanguard, I can't wait. Brad McQuaid, I hope to god you can rescue me from these half-assed MMORPGs and return me to the bliss that is your "Vision." Return me to the feel of a true classic 'tabletop' MMORPG, like you once did with EverQuest (pre-Shadows of Luclin).

Er, I wasnt part of your decision to play an AN guild. I was simply stating that I reactivated my account to join the PA vs. PVP server war.
Which btw, has been hella sweet so far. There are currently 4 guilds operating in tandem just on the alliance side, 3 of which are already full (500 members each). And there are large scale raids everyday. It's pretty insane. I rolled a Paladin again after seeing one of those reckoning bomb vids, lmao. Then, like a day later, a CM dropped an anouncement about the pally execute, Hammer of Wrath. It's good to be back.
p.s. to Infection

It just has a TON to still be fixed, almost all character wise.

Indeed it's not bad, I have had a buggy mission or two though..
But, right now, ALL classes meshed togeather in Battlegrounds are ALL useful, which is nice.

Whatever MMO is worth it next, a few of us must venture into togeather!
Vanguard: Saga of Heroes!
Though I warn it's another highly group oriented game. Same team that made the original EverQuest (before Sony ruined it). I really really enjoyed the early days of EQ, and I miss them. FFXI has been the only game to challenge my love for EQ so far.
With Vanguard, I have a lot of faith that Brad can do it again, but this time even better learning from his previous mistakes. And on top of that, it's a 3rd Generation MMORPG, so it looks freaking beautiful (it's built on the Unreal 2003 engine).

Michael
August 12th, 2005, 09:10 PM
Heh, everything's a grind in my opinion. Not a single MMORPG exists without a grind.
Honestly, I find WoW to be a step down from FFXI in terms of grinding. FFXI kept my mind entertained the entire time... WoW not so much. Only PvP keeps me on my toes. Leveling I'm generally not even paying attention, just hitting the important keys.
The Loner
August 12th, 2005, 09:23 PM
Well, WoW is mostly grind QUESTING, which just seems like it's not grinding.
Go kill these guys for 10 of a 5% drop. I once grinded for over 3 hours for a .5% drop, and it was boring as hell. I mean, same area, same guy, waiting for respawns, I don't think I could take that all the time. With different areas, enemies, meh, if it's a solid game with some good PvP, hell yes I'm in.
WoW end game PvP has me VERY excited, plus some end game instances to keep me busy as well, plus some alts. I still have a lot of WoW playtime left, probably another 3-6 months AT LEAST, I don't see this ending anytime soon, since I'm obsessed with getting the leetest gear for at least ONE character.
Michael
August 12th, 2005, 09:54 PM
I hate quest grinding far more than I hate camp grinding. At least with this generation of MMORPGs, camp grinding with groups involves all players actively working together. No more of the old EQ "hit auto attack and go make a sandwich" stuff.
Quest grinding makes me feel like a rat in a wheel. It's like Blizzard actually thinks I'm retarded enough to not notice it's the exact same thing, just with a pretty little bow tied around it.
Item quests in particular I tend to hate. Some of them make sense, like the "I need x materials to make y item, go find them for me." Other's don't. For example, Mills Overrun quest in Brill. Gather 5 notched ribs and 3 blackened skulls. Yeah, the mills are over run by the scourge, all hell is breaking loose, but you only need to show me that you killed 8 of them. Uh. Ok.
EQ had it much better for things like this. For instance, Qeynos. Qeynos hated gnolls. Oh, how they hated the gnolls, and how the gnolls hated them. So, Qeynos had a general bounty for gnoll fangs. You kill a gnoll, if you happen to find his fang, you get a reward. For every single gnoll you could prove you killed, you were rewarded. Gnoll genocide was in order. Not just two or three of them. Any of them, and all of them.

Wow, I know lame people. One of my friends doesn't even have the game, but he cracked it and hosts it on his server. I showed him some epic gear today, and apparently he though it'd be badass to go get it, after setting his level to 225 or something.

I made fun of him, saying when he finally gets the game he'll burn out, and basically have fun doing nothing exciting or seeing anything new, since you're just giving yourself **** all the time without any effort.
Am I right, or did I push too far?

Has any been accused yet of being a farmer? Or a cheater? The other day I went to Strat Live and we killed the final boss, and he dropped 4 things, and I ticketed one of em. And nobody ticketed anything else so everyone rolled on em. I won two of the three that remained. One was a Flask of Distilled Wisdom, which is an alchemy recipe that increases your mana by 2000 for 2 hours(you can only make it in Scholomance). And the other one was a epic tailoring recipe for priests. And I won that one also. A few people wanted me to sell it too em, and I was at first, but then I thought that I could get a lot more in the AH. But there is a priest in my guild that is a tailor, that I could give it to. So when the raid is over, I go back to IF and one of the guys is calling me a farmer. Pissed me off to no end. So has this happened to anyone else?

Yea, I never liked the other classes, I tried, but could never get into them. Druid and Hunter were ok, but I always went running back to my rogue. Actually went back to EQ2, quit a few months ago. The community is much more mature, and although the populations are a lot lower, I'm really enjoying it. It's really just a timesink though, wasting time untill Vanguard launches. It's rumored that beta testing will be starting sometime in September, so If I can get into that, I'll be set. :)

I was a big fan of dueling. Lots of people hang out outside IF and duel all day long. I got pretty good, and although my gear wasn't the best, I could beat some of the best equipped rogues on Dalaran. Druids were cake. Mages are as well, if you know what your doing. The classes that I really had trouble with were Paladins(prot specc'd) and hunters.. If hunters used multiple freezing traps, I was basically done, they could crit for 2k with aimed shot, quite annoying. If I got to them, then I had a good chance of winning.. Stunlock ftw :)

Meh, rogues are more annoying than useful, just questing and having a rogue come up and stunlock me while in caster form (GG NO DEFENCE) then kill me in 5-6 hits before I can even cast / heal / try and escape gives a bad name to all rogues, cause they don't do much other than stealth - wait till I'm almost dead - kill me. Never seen it happen any other way.

Well, thats one of the main reasons I don't play on a PVP server. If you don't want that to happen, try a PVE server. And about Rogues not being useful, I would say that Imp Sap is very useful for end game instances.

World areas and Lost Areas.
Lost Areas
Random maze-like instances outdoors are generated every time you are declared as lost. You lose your marker spot on the map and your minimap goes blank. However instead of combating mobs, you must use intuition and find clues to help you out of them.
Every territory has a "lost" zone which is an external instance that resembles the area but which you cannot exit by simply walking to a fixed area. There is no sense of direction here, and you must find and use certain clues that will help you out.
You don't choose when to enter a "lost" area, you have a very high chance of being transported to the territories "lost" area by random exploration through that territory in particular areas you haven?t ?discovered? yet. Your chances of getting lost in an area are almost non-existent once you discover the area.
However discovery of an area now requires you to have been through over half it's area. The experience has been raised dramatically as well.
You are also deposited in a random lost area if the victim of a freak storm while on gryphon/wyvern/hippogrriff back or travelling by Ship or Zepphlin. You woudn?t be transported to an area half way across the world, however sometimes you can be blown well off course.
To exit the ?lost? zone you must complete certain tasks.
Existing Areas
[liMany outdoors areas have been expanded, some doubling in size, new settlements, dungeons and structures have been added.
Some new areas within old ones two have been added to accommodate new starting areas.
Specific detail has been given to houses, workplaces, taverns, shops. Visible tools and equipment can now be seen where appropriate. Workmen working. Shop items can now be seen displayed on walls and shelves but can still be selected via right clicking on the shopkeeper NPC.
Other World Area Changes
In addition to all areas being expanded to one degree or another - Major towns such as Southshore, Auberdine, Kharanos, Cross Roads, Ratchett, Bloodhoof Village, Razor Hill and more have been redsigned and expanded to look like towns rather than villages.
Stromgarde, Aeries Peak & Hinterlands, Stahnbrad in Alterac, Tauren Settlements in the Thousand Needles and Feralas as well as those zones have all been particularly extensively expanded. The Charred vale for example is partially Forested again, and partially burnt
A lot of attention to detail was given to Horde and Goblin areas with the trebling in size of Gadgetzan and Everlook, the addition of 2 new goblin towns of smaller size. Additional Orc settlements in the Barrens, with Night Elf and Tauren expanstions on Stone Talon Mountain.
Some neutral factions like the Argent Dawn and the Emerald Circle and others have been given settlement camps in their main areas of operation, and HQs in all major cities
A neutral Ogre town has been opened up in the expanded Tanaris. and the Theramore Isle human settlement has doubled in size and now stretches a greater distance into the marsh.
A rebel Silithid Hive in the Un'Goro crater, neutral, has been opened, with quests to do and repuatation to earn. The Crater's mountainous region has been expanded and a small neutral village has opened up in the north section.
Some Areas? level requirements of have been altered to accomodate the starting areas of Trolls & High Elves. Stone Talon Mountain has expanded to an Upper & Lower section, the Upper section accomdates the starting area for the Dryads.
The world has almost trebled in size with the many new additions and zones to facilitate moving around, it is now possible to purchase a mount from as early as level 5
At Level 40 you may acquire a battlemount, trainable in 8 differnet types of warfare.
What was considered an epic mount before the expansion is no longer
New Seahorse (can move on both land and sea) mount has been added for Naga. Treant Mounts for Dryads (The Dryad can assume a two legged shape for mounting, they look like nightelves but with leaves and twigs as hair and thorny claws for fingers), Mechanical Tin Shredders for Goblins.
It is now possible to train riding skills in any races racial mount, however, battlemounts have specific advantages for their native race, allowing them to boost racial abilities.
Special Gnome and Goblin transports are available in most cities towns and villages that assist direct transportation to nearby territories or areas within territories.
All cities and flight paths have been given multitude stables and hatcheries to emphasize the volume of transport available. Depending on server population and day times, varying numbers of flyers and mounts are spawned in the hatchery and stables
General Structural Customisation
Gates and Doors are closed at night time for most towns and cities except for night elven settlements where the opposite occurs, closing at day time. You may still go into shops at night, but after a certain time, you will have to knock on the closed door, and the shopkeeper may charge you extra, the opposite true for night elves.

A second Night Elven city has been opened up in Mount Hyjal, it is also home to Furblogs and refugee blood elves. Details to follow as it is a high end-game level area.
Gnomeragan:
The Gnome capital city has been opened up and is now the starting area for Gnomes. It?s been fully fitted out, with new structures visible from outside, a main train station port, and looks once more like a city with homes, trading areas, Throne castle/lab for the tinker. A dungeon area etc.
The Zul'Farrak Dungeon has been redsigned as a City and is now the opening area for Trolls. The cities boundaries have been re-placed, now having part lie within the desert of tanaris, part in the Thousand Needles and another part in the lush mountains of the Un?Goro Crater. A starting area zone has been created in the expanded thousand needles area that almost triples in size leading directly into Mulgore.
High Elves now share a starting area with the Dalaran Humans. The region surrounding Dalaran has been greatly expanded to accommodate the new starting area and the expansion of South Shore and Alterac.
Goblins start in a new low level Island South of Booty Bay. Furblogs in Teldrassil which has also been extended.
Naga homecity is a partially submerged city just off an Island halfway between the Maelstrom and Kalimdor.
Stone Talon Peak Has been considerably expanded and serves as starting area for the Dryads. Dryads have a Capital Forest of the Mystic Vale in the area formerly none as the Charred Vale. Stone Talon mountain has been split into 2 halves, upper and lower, Upper Stone Talon mountain holds the Peak and the Vale, whiles lower Stone-Talon Mountain is a questing area ranging from level 10-20. Ventrue Co. quests in the area have dropped by 10 levels, and new additional quests added in the expanded area.
The Timbermaw Hold near Moonglade has been extensively expanded as a home for the Furbolgs..
Naga, Dryad, Night Elf and High Elf settlements have also been added to Azshara and Winterspring. Dryad forest plains added to Ashenvale and Teldrassil

Other racial settlements and zones have been extended such as Centaur oasis in the Barrens and the Maraudine area. Also secret Satyr settlements have been added through out Northern Kalimdor from Desolace to Azhara, Bristle boar and Silithid hives in southern Kalimdor.
Transportation
All trains, ships and Zepphlins have fully manned NpC crews.
Alliance trams now start off in Gnomeragan.
Zepplins and Ships are now subject to be blown off course by freak storms stranding inhabitants on random islands where they can face challenges.
The Number of NpCs in towns and cities, settled areas has been greatly increased. Trade centres are visible for what they are, litter is evident in the human, Ogre, Troll and dwarven cities, with
cleanning crews seen tidying up at a fixed time each day after market closes.
PROFESSIONS
All professions have many new item additions to lower and post level 60
Maximum Skill extended to 500
Master & Legend ranks available all through special quests.
Mini Professions ? Jobs In need of money? Need a paid job? Many taverns, shopkeepers, librarians, farmers are now hiring where you can select anything from a 30mins ? 24hr shift of doing a job quest. For e.g. in taverns, you have to serve drinks or take food from the cook to tables [cities have been expanded considerably and details made to match], throughout your shift, you have to quell random disturbances and fights. Listen to tall tales ? or a farmer?s hand where you have a challenge to plough the field one shift, plant seeds another, weed a third, douse a fire or even repair his broken machine, if you?re not an engineer, you?ll need to find one quick or miss out on your payment.
4 new primary professions added and 1 Secondary
Several design changes to existing professions, on some gear, potions and devices you may customise what ability statistic or effect is applied by a slight variation of ingredients, for e.g. your chest piece may have Spirit instead of stamina by using green opals instead of red ones, +4 of 1 and +5 of the other instead of5/4 or 4/4 by having 4 green opals and 1 red.
Certain items can also have certain special abilities added to previously made or bought items if you are a Master or Legend, but you need to discover what does what, and sometimes bad combination can ruin a piece. A master alchemist can add an ingredient to an existing potion to add the effect of a size increase or turn into a skeleton. Or the Master Engineer add a red crystal to the bomb construction to give it a slow effect in addition
All manufacturing professions require the use of key tools, and animations have been added to each. For e.g. going to the forge to make leg piece will now animate the action of putting the ingredient on the anvil and raising the hammer to refine it, sparks may even fly on weapons where you visibly sing in oil/water tanks to cool after visibly heating in forge. The more complex the item, the more specialised a forge you may need. A tailor would need a sewing machine and items to make certain pieces and will be animated taking a seat and making the item in the time period. Items that can be tailored without can be made anywhere but will be animated as the PC will sit, take out a needle and cloth, and a sewing action ensue. Similar, some Alchemy or Engineering potions and devices require to go to a full lab in cities and stand at desks with equipment to make whiles others that don?t require, will have the animation simulated, you will see a vial being held the herb being crushed and ground, you pour some water into it the vial and swirl to make a potion. Some may require heat of a fire in which case you?d need to at least learn cooking enough to make one.
Making purple and rarer items now yields experience points.

Once again.
GAME DYNAMICS
New Faction: Neutral - whiles not a faction as such it simply means unaffiliated with Horde or Alliance. The Steamwheedle Cartell and the Argent Dawn are neutral factions for example. Whiles Stormwind, Darnassus and Ironforge are Alliance Factions, the Hyjal Elves are Neutral, Thunderbluff, Ogrimmar and Zul?Farrak are Horde Factions, despite the fact that Taurens may start off neutral. Gnomeragan & Undercity are Alliance & Horde leaning factions.
You can now change faction affiliation. Only Human and Dwarves start off default as Alliance, and Orcs & Trolls defaulted as Horde and Goblins the Neutral Steamwheedle Cartell. The rest can choose between Neutral and Horde or Alliance. [Elves (night & High), Gnomes, are neutral and are free to join a faction after doing some basic quests in the major settlements of the faction.]. Whiles Humans are defaulted to Alliance, they can choose Neutral to start with, however becoming horde is as hard as it is for an Orc to become Alliance.
You may also be part of certain smaller factions such as the Argent Dawn, the Cenerarion & Emerald Circles, the Bloodsail Buccaneers and more.
The Horde and the Alliance are the two Main Factions the PvP Honour system and the Conquest system are based around. Neutral .
Rival factions that are at war with yours will be flagged as hostile in all territories you encounter them except in their territory where in the PvP game, you have the option of disabling PvP whiles in your factions territory or zone.
Quests
Added over 1500 additional quests and epic quests.
Many new race specific quests, and class specific quests.
Some quests can now only be taken and completed at certain times.
We have introduced a more dynamic system that spawns necessary numbers of mobs for quests that involve killing x number of mobs. Meaning that certain mobs you will only see one or two of if casually passing by (unless there are quests involving those types of mobs that demand otherwise). However if you have a quest that pertains to the mob in the area, an appropriate number are spawned as you approach the area, growing if you are accompanied. We found this did the following
[ul]
a) created the surprise factor for wandering adventurous who weren't on that quest,
b) gave a sense of completion to those who had finished a quest, afterall, if you are thinning the population of Gnolls in region x, you'd like to notice that you've had an effect, rather than see the whole lot respawned every time you pass.
c) This saved computer resources considerably and allowed appropriate numbers to be generated based on the number of people taking the quest who were in the specific are it spawned.
New 120-man titanic quests and battles have been introduced, this often have a racial leader and sometimes an army accompanying you. 120-man activities can link up to 3 full 40 man raids.
Miscellaneous quests and activities: Added to many cities and areas are activities you can partake in, such as Racing on tracks, or Tournaments in Arenas where spectators will gather to watch competitors, you will duel both PCs and NPCs and will have to progress to the last round to win. Each Capital city has a unique activity associated with it.
Some quests done in the original game have been replaced with new ones, for e.g. The Charred Vale being partially restored no longer has the old quests there, but new ones.
Battlegrounds
An additional 10 battlegrounds
Instances.
30 new instances added. Including level 75+ Instance for Uldan and Uldranan. Instances added at Northrend, Southrend, Hyjal, The Maelstrom, Quel?Thalas, Ferelas, Un-Goro, Dustswallow Marsh, Thousand Needles, under each capital city, Dalaran, Stranglthorn Vale, Duskwood, Badlands, Dun Morogh, Loch Modan, Arathi, Lordamere, Da?arsalan, Nagarathis. Spread through out the levels, a few original instances were closed such as Gnomeragan and Zul?Farrak.
Many Old Instances updated with new quests and new troubles

Hopefully the last one.
EXCLUISVE CONQUEST REALM SYSTEM
Conquest realms has a worldwide theme available. The aim is to gain control of 2/3 of all territories for your faction.
It's a side game that is intended to be done gradually and designed so that normal questing and game play can continue despite it. You must win over a territories to the faction you have allied yourself with.
The aim is to pvp in groups or raids. Go to a Capital City of a race allied to your faction. There you can speak to a battlemaster to begin the conquest. Note this must be done otherwise any fighting in settlements will not be regarded as official victories.
You win a territory over by conquering the opposing faction's settlements/towns or bases.
You conquer a settlement/town or base by first having selected it with the battlemaster, then proceeding with your party or raid to the town and eliminating all NPCs and players.
The battle is declared as started once your party attacks any NPC guard or opposing faction PC in the area. After starting, you have a certain period of time called the joining period to call re-enforcements to your group from fellow faction members in the area or abroad. After joining period is over any new member arriving in the area will not be able to engage in pvp battle in that area till the battle is over.
The battle is over when you've killed all NPC guards and all opposing faction PC members that were part of the fight.
To prevent endless fights, once battle has commenced for settlement, you are given up to 5 times to die. After five deaths within that battle, you are flagged off for pvp in that area entirely for the duration of the battle unable to attack/heal or be attacked. IF your faction loses the battle, you are flagged off for pvp in that area for 120mins, however the controlling faction can initiate a conflict with you.
Once you win a settlement, all opposing faction NPC guards are replaced with the your faction NPC guard. The race of the guards depends on what racial capital city you selected the conquest for. And your faction and racial flags are &&$%ed.
In conquered settlements, the beaten faction PCs may still enter freely to hand in quests and purchase goods with the non-guard npcs who still remain unchanged. However the victorious faction can now buy items from the conquered factions NPCs. The conquering faction PCs are not allowed to attack the conquered factions PCs and vice versa unless the battle to reclaim the town has commenced. This is ensured by the NPC guards attacking any PC who starts attacking an opposing member. That way, ganking should be prevented for the conquered faction PCs who need to enter the settlement to hand in quests and trade.
Your faction can win back a settlement by contacting the battle-master in the racial capital the conquered settlement belonged to. Then proceeding with you raid group and initiating the battle by right clicking on any NPC guard. This then starts up the battle timer once more.
Each settlement, town or base now has an NPC guard leader depending on it's size and strategic importance. A settlement cannot be claimed without eliminating this boss.
Only contested territories are controllable in this way. Your faction, must seize control of all enemy settlements before the territory is declared as belonging to your faction.
Once you control 2/3 of the world, the server server records a win and the faction scores will be displayed on a special page of the website. Also special items and money will be granted to all participants.
Anyone may participate in conquest at any time, how much reward and reputation you receive once the game has been won depends on how many conquests you participated in.
At a later date, we will expand this to include capital cities, the aim will extend to, once having conquered 2/3, you must then proceed to win a battle for a capital city. Each capital city would have a surrounding territory that isn't contested. You must win just one surrounding territory and then the battle for the capital city commence. You only need one capital city to win the game.
Reputation & Honour System Changes.
Reputation's importance has been increased for all factions and racial alliances. Each racial faction has a settlement and territory you can now gain reputation for.
You gain reputation by completing quests largely, once you are gain a pvp rank, and the "Honoured" reputation with the town or area, you can choose to become an enlisted defender of the settlement. You do this by speaking with the settlements NPC leader or magister, or if an area, a designated NPC in a neighbouring town or city. Some such NPCs you must actually look for. Some settlements like major towns or capital cities require a minimum PvP rank to become a defender.
Being a defender means you get visual and audible recognition from the townspeople whenever you interact, and as you move to "Revered & Exalted" that increases.
There is a PvP element to a defender, whenever the settlement or area you have chosen to defend is undergoing a Conquest battle, you are alerted wherever you are on Azeroth and given the option to immediately teleport to an area near the settlement or zone being fought for, and you must join the battle before it closes off.
Defending your settlement successfully raises your reputation most with the settlement, and also with the settlements' racial capital. You are also rewarded for fending off the invasion with money. The extent your reputation rises depends on how many successful kills you made, and how many of your five lives you did not spend.
Failure to answer the summons to defend will decrease your reputation and losing the battle will lower rep for all defenders.
When nearby towns are being fought for, defenders from surrounding areas who do not have a high enough pvp rank to be listed as a town defender, may also be called, they are not penalised for not answering the call however, they gain higher reputation with the town they help and with the settlement or area they are defenders off.
Conversely, higher ranked pvp-honoured members able to be called defenderse of the larger settlements, are not informed when lower settlements are under attack, however they can lose reputation if they are high enough in rank to become Territorial Defenders and they failed to assist. (however the amount lost is smaller)
Having an exalted reputation with an area or settlement allows you to ride the settlements mount type and for certain quests and tasks you may have an npc defender from that area accompany you. He follows you passively but can defend you, or in a manner similar to pets, you can direct him to attack hostile targets. However that is the extent of your control. He mounts up when you do on a mount of his own, or should you not have one, he works. The number of guards you can enlist from your town depends on your reputation.
Higher reputation now also opens up access to new quests and plots.
GUILD MANAGEMENT CHANGES
Guilds play a much larger role now. There are better customisation menus, allowing you to better structure your guild, add notes, plan events with the scheduler.
Due to the expansion of Capital cities and some towns, guilds are now permitted to buy a headquarter within a capital city or a town. However it does not come cheaply. Your guild flag of similar design to your tabard will be displayed over the building.
All guilds can now have a trading house accessible via an NpC in your guild house, or if you do not have one, the auction house in a capital city. You can access wares sold by all guilds via the auction house, where you can search items by guild, or by item type where the name of the guild selling will be displayed. Guild members can be afforded a discount by the guild that is set by the guild master or a guild officer he can designate as treasurer. Discount rates can be set per rank as well.
Guilds can gain special reputation with factions when they exclusively partake in conquest campaigns as a guild.
Build YOur Guild House.
The world structures change from time to time, certain areas in or near capital cities or HQ of the faction your guild is associated, can have a guild house build. Guilds can either rent empty properties in towns or cities, or alternatively pay for ones to be build in the surrounding area.
After paying a high price, you can select several designs of accomodationi for your guild, each area can only have designs similar to those of the town/city they make their chapter house. The larger the dwelling the more expensive.
Once done, thhe request submitted to the GM HQ in the area, a structure would be &#&$%ed in after the weekly maintenance scheduled. Certain areas can reach a limit of new buildings, however there are many areas worldwide near towns and villages and faction HQs that we have provided sufficient land area for guild structures. Should an area be full near one town or city, then try another. [there are enough areas to cater for the maximum population of a realm players to each have a house - while this is not possible on an individual basis, we may seek to implement it later]
You recover rest state in your guild house and can have your hearthstone set to it.
New Item Types:
Ring slot has been expanded to five.
Items now have a weight factor that you cannot exceed even if you haven't used up all your slots.
Strength ability now directly increases that.

More WoW expansion rumors :) Found at Azzor.com. Its a translation from an Italian magazine.
One year since its release on the US market, many World of Warcraft players seek information on the first, inevitable expansion. To answer these questions, the Californian software house is preparing an event for their fans on the 28th and 29th of October -- “Blizzcon”, where Blizzard will reveal the details on World of Warcraft’s future. But the TGM readers already know...
We were kindly invited by Vivendi to visit Blizzard offices, where we had the chance to preview “The Burning Crusade”, the first World of Warcraft expansion that will somehow revolutionize this bestseller game.
First of all, the background: Sargeras, the corrupted Titan that represents the worst evil in the WoW universe, a being that has always intended to destroy all the universe, ever since beginning his work has never encountered any obstacle and has not stopped except for the resistance on Azeroth(that is both the region, the continent, and the planet). His actual plan for now is to ignore this place, and concentrate on the Outland. This is the name given to the remains of the planet Draenor, the original planet of the Orcs, which floats in an endless emptiness and grant access to the Twisting Nether, a sort of parallel dimension that allow access to every plane of existance in the universe. It’s clear that a resource like this, a “node” for invading all worlds ia extremely appealing to Sargeras' demonic forces, and it is here that Azeroth's forces will be called upon, the only ones that have shown the ability to combat the Titan and his followers, Archimonde and Kil’Jaeden.
All the expansion will be centered on the Outland, Medivh and the Dark Portal, to expand on the most important story of World of Warcraft. Beyond Outlands, two new dungeons will be introduced on Azeroth(the planet), strictly tied to characters and events encountered in the expansion. The first will be presented in detail at Blizzcon (it will be possible to play with it) and it will be probably be a 5 character instance – but it’s still being decided – situated in Kharazan, Medivh’s tower, found in Deadwind Pass (between Duskwood and the Swamp of Sorrows). From the descriptions received and the short tour that we have observed we know that it will quickly evolve from the “classic undead instance” to something stranger, where players will encounter the numeous results of Medivh's magical experiments.
Much more unusual will be the Caverns of Time, a raid instance in Tanaris that will allow players to travel in time and participate in the most important events in the history of Azeroth, from the opening of the Dark Portal by Medivh, Thrall's liberation from slavery and the mythologic battle of Mount Hyal (seen in Warcraft III) when the forces of humans, orcs and elves united in battle to defeat Archimonde. All this is possible because the Caverns of Time is the place where bronze dragons, headed by Nordozmu, control the stream of time.
Tecnically the dungeon can be expanded in the future to allow players to visit other important moment of the WoW story.
This news is expected: the surprise comes with the levelcap being raised to 70. (Here is a little editor's comment about the exp lost at lvl 60 for quest done and experience not earned).
Although Hero Classes are not yet announced (in the words of Rob Pardo, Vice President of Game Design “if we make a mistake with Hero Classes we can definitely ruin the game”), Blizzard has not denied that they could be included in the expansion but they have not promised it. Other game like Everquest, with Alternate Advancement muffin, and Daoc with Master Level has shown how this player evolution can be very complicated.
The second great news is that both the factions will have a new race (though no new class). Because one of the reasons Alliance have more player than Horde seems to be tied to an aesthetic reason(Horde races are “ugly”): Orcs, Trolls, Taurens and the Forsaken will be joined by the Blood Elves -- a little smaller than their cousin, they are dedicated to magic in its darker form and dependent on it. The Blood Elves will probably be Mages, Warlocks and Warriors, though it’s not certain if they can be Rogues or Hunters. At the moment they have a racial trait called Mana Tap that slowly drains mana from enemies, this can be applied multiple times, like sunder armor. This will power a second ability called “Arcane Torrent”(but the head of development, Kaplan, continued to call it “Arcane Torment") that works like an area of affect silence spell. This left us a little surprised because it seems a little unbalanced, even against a warrior, but it's too early to speak about it, because the release date next year is still far off and many things will surely be changed.
The characterization of the race is most interesting, with a starting area that is very light and sunny but also frightful with many signs of magic used for frivolous purposes -- deformed plants, palaces floating in the air, and strange crystals containing demons imprisoned to take advantage of their energies. The actual “home” of Blood Elves is what remains of Quel’Thalas, found north of the Eastern Plaguelands, beyond a valley currently sealed by a stack of logs. It will be composed of 3 zones: Eversong Woods with the capital city Silvermoon, Ghostland, and Zul’Aman, a region inhabited by trolls that could host or become a new thematic dungeon like Zul’Farrak and Zul’Gurub.
The new Alliance race has not been announced and will probably be announced a short time after Blizzcon, but we can always make a hypothesis: thinking the “beautiful race” is going to the Horde and looking at all chances, nothing can prevent us from thinking about Pandaren, introduced originally as “april fools” and then incorporated truly in Warcraft III (this can be more than a supposition, but it's better to stop here..).
There's more: there will be a new profession called Jewelcrafting, we don’t know if this will make it possible to forge ring, amulets or trinkets, but for sure it will be possible to craft gems to insert in “sockets” found in armor and weapons, like in Diablo2. Blacksmiths, tailors and leatherworkers can craft items with sockets in them to hold gems made with this profession.
Here Toso(a TGM reviewer) still complains of the inability to craft staves: but it is possible that Jewelcrafting is not the only profession added in the expansion and things can still change before release.
Continuing with the news about Outlands, they will be divided in many regions, from rocky and devasted Hellfire Peninsula to the forests of Zenga Marsh, one of the few zones of Draenor saved from destruction. The most interesting news for the lore freaks out there is that in one of these regions, Shadowmoon Valley, players will find the Black Citadel where Illidan resides, the true “boss" of the zone.
Even though only Arthas is capable of stopping the ex demon hunter(seen in Warcraft III and expansion) players who reach level 70 still have hard trials to face. However, they can count on many new resources, including the long-awaited flying mounts: responding to thousands of player requests, Blizzard has decided that players that reach level 70 can put their hands, at the end of a long and hard quest, on a flying mount that can be used only in Outland, using the “floating islands” found in the region.
There is no news about the engine, although it seems the Blood Elf models will have 20% more polygons compared to “old” race models. The graphics should be redone in the following months with the introduction of atmospheric effects but the rest should remain the same. Blizzard is also experimenting with various tricks (like Specular Environment Mapping) to improve the look in general. They are concentrating more on the content though -- the graphic engine always has time to be changed. Additionally, players can expect to be able to play "cross-server" Battlegrounds, that can be participated in by players from all realms, a thing that theoretically will bring the end of the queue system.
Anticipate more information in the coming month, especially regarding the new Alliance race (we've given our idea).

Wow, 6/8 Wildheart, have had this for about a month now.
This is seriously pissing me off. 20 UD Strath runs now, never seen Kilt even DROP. Friend got Skullforge Reaver and Cape of the Black Barron in about 6 runs, which are about 1/5 the drop rate of that.
Good god.
Possibly joining one of the best guilds on my server soon though. Shall see.
