I just purchased the first DVD and...wow. I think I'm in love.

It has an interesting plot, lovable bishie characters, humor, drama, romantic misunderstandings, sword fighting, cross-dressing pirates, and open shounen-ai (slapping another person on the left cheek is an offer for marriage...2 guys is not uncommon). What's not to like?

The one downside is the number of DVDs in this series. Does the series continue like the first four episodes? Does the "romance" develop further? I really like all of the characters. There's not going to be an end of series death, is there?

I'm really looking forward to the next DVD. This DVD had a mini-cel of Yuri. The next is of Wolfram. :)

Since I got my DVD player, I never listen to dubs. Anyway, I love the original voices (Wolfram is Okita from peacemaker...I thought he sounded familiar).

This anime is my latest obsession. I liked the dub except for Wolfram's voice. He sounded way too much like a woman in the dub.

I've only seen the first five episodes too, and I can already tell it's gonna be one of my all-time favorites. So many bishies too...I really can't pick a character I like the most.

Though, I hate having to wait so for each volume. I really want the second one and I have to wait all the way till July! The wait is going to kill me!

smrats - I heard it's VERY good! The DVD sales for KKM in Japan is still one of the best. It's as famous as Gundam Seed in Japan. So considering the success and popularity, a third season might be in the works right this moment.

Second season came out this month in Japan, has any one heard any news on it? Good or bad?I've seen what's been out so far, it's pretty much the same as the first season. It picks up like five seconds after the point where season 1 ended. So far there's been a bit more exposition involving Yuuri's childhood and his relationship with his brother, but to tell you the truth I'd hardly notice it was a new season if not for the new OP/ED.

Hmm... as much as I love KKM, I don't think I'll be investing in so the DVDs unless I can get them in some kind of set. I don't mind occupying myself with fansubs/raws till then.

I'm up to episode 32, there can be no doubt that the high quality is maintained throughout the series. My only qualm, as it has been from the beginning, is still the faint ludicrousness of the central plots which are supposed to be serious drama (or at least certain elements of those plots...like needing a body part to unlock a doomsday device? Needlessly grotesque.)

Not to mention all the crawling around on all fours (episode where they get stuck in subterranean tunnels beneath the castle)...what are you really trying to say there, Wolfram? ^_^

I think Wolfram is the more complex uke type which I like a lot: the uke that maintains a haughty/arrogant/vain/domineering/self-absorbed/controlling facade but is in actuality quite vulnerable, needy and suprisingly emotionally unstable, once the facade is stripped away. Sasuke from Naruto is the perfect example, that's why I generally prefer NaruSasu over SasuNaru. SasuNaru stories get carried away with Sasuke's facade, they don't always dig deep enough.

But, like most of these complicated ukes, Wolfram can definitely be written as a pure seme for the purpose of relatively short story, as long as you focus on the right aspects.

I almost died when I read the Japanese voice of Guenter (Kazuhiko Inoue) is the same as Eiri Yuki (Gravitation), the doctor Hatori Soma (Fruits Basket), and many, many others.

Conrad's voice (Toshiyuki Morikawa) was Griffith (Bsrserk), Tatsumi (Descendents of Darkness), Fujita (My Sexual Harassment), Ryuunosuke Ichimura (Peacemaker), Homura (Saiyuki), Jounouchi (Yu-gi-oh) and many, many others.

And Wolfram (Mitsuki Saiga) was Natsuo (Loveless), Soji (Peacemaker), and many others.

It's so funny how these actors can change their voices to fit the character.

You should download all the episodes! the laster on episodes are so much fun! Of course, buy the DVDs too, that's important as a fan. I'm definitely enjoying the DVD and extra cell cards! They're pretty. I can't wait till they release a CONRAD card. I'll be so happy.

About the voice actors, i think they all did a great job. And do you guys know that the person who did Wolfram is the same person who did the guy(girl) Tsukasa from .hack//SIGN. I was kind of surprised when i heard that considering Tsukasa's character was the absolute opposite of Wolfram's.

I especially like Conrad's voice.

I can see why someone wouldn't like Wolfram, because he's a whiney brat, but his looks make up for it, tee hee. And plus, I mentioned that I love Gwendal a few posts above.

There is no actual shounen-ai in it. Just major hints. Like....two boys are engaged (though it was by accident), and there is a kissy scene (not with lips though :P ). It has lots of BL jokes too. It's a very good show. It's got a great mix of BL hints and slapstick comedy.

Personally, i think it could also be counted as Shounen-ai...Depending on what Point of View you're taking. On Yuri's side, yeah, small hints here and there but he's mainly clueless. On Wolframs part, It it SO obvious with the way he always get's jealous whenever Yuri is with another man/Women. And is offended when Yuri brings up enulling the "engament" which he always forgets about XD.

Hm, so i guess what i'm trying to say is it's one-sided BL ^^. of course, that is only my opinion, i'm sure SOMEONE will disagree ^^;;

same_animefan, I think you described Yuri and Wolfram's relationship perfectly as one-sided BL. This is one series I can't get enough of with the wonderful relationships, the side splitting humor, and the touches of darkness. I can't wait for volume three due out in the next 2 to 3 weeks.

I am happy that episodes keep it go on...never stop...maybe esp.100...who knows? Also he told me that one person who will died in the future...I won't mention his or her name. Due of "spoiler" I was little upset. Enjoy watch KKM.

I personally like Shin-Ou Heika x Yuuri Heika. I know it's a crack pairing, and I know he's deceased, but I still like it. Of course, I like YuurixWolfram as well.

I'm up to episode 60...looking back, it's quite a trip, I'm amazed that the writers managed to keep the plot and characters as interesting as they did, considering it basically started out as a spoof on Escaflowne (or similar anime where a girl is whisked away to another dimension to meet her prince, only this time with a boy).

On the downside, it needs to be said that the "yaoi" element (or rather, the pseudo-almost-yaoi, or the one-sided BL, or however you want to call it) has gradually lessened in the past 40 episodes. Yeah, there are still "official" engagements if you know what I mean, there's still a bit of cross-dressing, some subtext and some yaoi jokes here and there, and some bishounen accidentally getting nekkid and in bath together (episode 59: woah, bath time for everybody )...but altogether a whole lot less than in the first season, and not as much you might want. The oldest complaint on this board: never enough to satisfy. ^_^

Just got volume 7 tonight.

It's one of my favorites, so far, besides the first DVD. It almost looks like Yuri and Wolfram are getting just a little bit older in this volume. And, the ending of episode 31 made me all mushy inside (and my Yaoi-girl personality was just screaming with the Yuri/Wolfram interactions). But, I'm also starting to understand the Murata/Yuri paring.

This DVD came with a worried Celi. Yet, the cover of a young Conart and Josak is drool worthy. =)

The one downside is the number of DVDs in this series. Does the series continue like the first four episodes? Does the "romance" develop further? I really like all of the characters. There's not going to be an end of series death, is there?


If you really wanna know, www.youtube.com has up to episode 63 last I checked. But that's only in Japanese, but it's fansubbed, so the subs will be very good, and actually match what they're saying in Japanese. The rest of the eps haven't been fansubbed yet, 'cause the last ep only came out early last month in Japan.

I loved that show...my friend in Japan, told me that he will watch on Tv (KKM series) on Dec 17th....episode 70!(third season). I was surprised. I am happy that episodes keep it go on...never stop...maybe esp.100...who knows? Also he told me that one person who will died in the future...I won't mention his or her name. Due of "spoiler" I was little upset. Enjoy watch KKM.

Don't worry, everything turns out okay in the end. He's not really dead! ...but you'll probably end up wishing he had really died. *>_<* I don't wanna talk about it too much, it's too painfull. ::cries:: But everything trns out just fine - Yuuri whoops some baddie backside and all is right with the world yet again! Maou!Yuuri is so cool... and a bit of a dork at times. ::snickers:: You'll understand what I mean when Elisabeth shows up.

But, man, Shin makoku has the weirdest customs... slapping is a marraige proposal, dropping and picking up knives are a challenge/acceptance of a duel... And the thing with the spork is rediculous. *sigh*

I have reached episode 58 of Kyo Kara Maoh!, so 20 more episodes to go for me. I will be so sad when it will come to an end and I will truly miss it. :( It is one of my favorite anime.

Kyo Kara Maoh! has two seasons only and a total of 78 episodes. I am so looking forward to get the fifth volume of the second season.
