Everyone know I'm a huge fan of Zoids, but really just the first anime Chaotic Century(which was two seasons, 67 episodes).

This one looks like it could go back to the roots of Chaotic Century, with a more darker story, a plot & good characters. I hope it isn't anything like Zero or Fuzors & that it will have a more deep story, maybe focus on the past wars or even better the far past of the Zoidian race.

Of course I shouldn't judge on that one image, but it looks dark & that thing looks like an Organoid, looks like a big Shadow.
That new liger looks cool, for the love of god please no more Liger Zero!!! Zoids Zero & Zoids Fuzors both were Liger Zero. I don't like that Zoid. I prefer the Blade Liger or even Shield Liger.

After the first Zoids the rest pretty much failed & were pretty much just light shows just about Zoid battles, I'm not even talking about war, just these battles with Zoids fighting like a sport.

I diddn't like Zoids Zero much, no plot & no character devolopment or drama. The Biltz team always won, it was only about one thing which was "Zoid battles".
As for Zoids Fuzors, this was the only Zoids released in America before Japan. It seems the most kiddy of Zoids so far(maybe the US made them make it that way), but it actually had some themes that Zero diddn't show any of. It had more serious moments & wasn't always all happy like Zero. It wasn't just about Zoid battles too, they would do all kinds of missions. Still lacks the great story & characters of Chaotic Century. I think its decent.


"Genesis" means origin/beginning, so this could very well deal with the events of the Zoidian race before Chaotic Century, in which case I'd expect it to be dark. It could be very interesting.

Plot Outline:

Natural disasters have devastated planet Zi, killing off almost all life. A thousand years later humans have gradually re-established civilization, salvaging ancient Zoids through diving and mining efforts.


Episode 1 synopsis:

The story begins in a village whose most previous item is a giant sword which they worship as a holy symbol. A teenage boy discovers an ancient Liger-type Zoid while on a deep water salvage operation.


Suddenly the village is attacked by skeletal "Bio-Zoids" intent on stealing a powerful generator located in the village.

Our teenage hero awakens the Liger and discovers that the town's sacred sword is the Liger's weapon, together they fight off the mysterious Bio-Zoids, saving the day. At least for now.


VERY interesting! This sound like after the events of the Zoidian race but the beginning of humans useing Zoids.

It pretty much ended everything well with them, I guess we could have a new season about them just doing random missions as the Guardian Force. The show really did end the whole story very well so I guess it would be hard to continue something that ended so complete.

But of course I'd kill for another season with them even if all it was about was them doing random missions & was filler based(like Cowboy Bebop)-_-; I want more of them but I'm sure it won't happen.

Aww...why more kids? Why can't they be older? That's one of the main reason I enjoyed Fuzors so much was because of [no it was not because of Luke, Levon ._. it was Blake] the older characters. I honestly believed that Fuzors's plot could have been borderline drama and intense as CC or GF since the characters there were already dramatic in their own way (Sweet and RD >_<).

But alas, if kids are the trendy characters these days, then so be it. I was hoping this one would be dark but with kids as main characters, how dark can it get? I guess I'll tune in not expecting anything great. Hope it'll change my mind.

I don't know about that, Chaotic Century season 1 they were the same age(from the looks of it) as the characters in Genesis & we know Chaotic Century is much more darker than Zoids Zero or Fuzors. Of course in season 2 of Chaotic Century there adults. Chaotic Century season 1 was dramatic & great even though they were 14 year old kids.

Zoids Zero the characters were adults, or they looked to be nearly adult but the show was the most light(& IMO the worse) of the Zoids.

With Fuzors the main character RD is a kid.



I wouldn't judge an anime on the characters age, most anime characters seem to be around that age of 14 or 15.

I think there is a 0.00000001% chance of that happening :(

Its a cheap release for Viz:

- The DVDs are DVD5(4.7 gigs, rather than most DVDs which are DVD9's around 9 gigs)
- DVDs have 6 episodes per DVD (which is a lot for a DVD5, but it looks fine to me)
- DVDs are really cheap, $15 retail, around $10 online. (not that its a bad thing!)
- Hasbro only bought the music & sound effect tracks but not the Japanese language.
- Dub only (but I think its a great dub)
- Edited (although hardly anything to cry about....besides that shower scene:P)
- Original OP & EDs cut & replaced


They started to release the show on DVD one year ago & there still releaseing it, they are kinda slow releaseing it, think about it. Everything is already done, they don't need to dub it since it was dubbed years ago, the menu's are simply & prety much the same. The extras I'm sure don't take much work. They use R2 covers but with added color(which can look bad on some).

I love the character designs. They remind me of CLAMP or even Azumanga Daoih designs. That girl is very cute, much like Fiona^_^ Whats a Zoids without cute & hot girls?

That samurai guy looks really cool. And so does that villian, which seem a lot like Raven....

BTW I think the animation is better than any other Zoids.

Yeah it would be nice, seeing as how when this comes to the US it will more than likely be edited to death. It seems this Zoids will have a lot more edits than any other Zoids for its more fanservice, not sure about violence since I havn't really seen much of the anime(just some raws), I mostly just see random screenshots.

I just watched a raw of episode 35, this anime seems amazing. The tone is more mature than past Zoids. There really does look to be a good story & characters, and one thing that impresses me most is the BGM, its so great. The episode I watched showed the main characters planning to invade a city of the bad army empire or something. This anime actually reminds me of Last Exile in some ways.

You gotta see this ED, its soooo cute!! And a great song too. Its funny, I think those two girls are like competing which one is better or something. The characters in SD dancing is very cute too, I need to make avatars of it.

The first episode was good, it had a great cliffhanger at the end. However the 2nd episode is much better when things really get moving and the story gets much more deep.

So I wasn't the only one after all. I had some some wierdness during some of the screen transitions where it would 'flash' a couple of times.

And I felt the CG was well done for the most part. There were a couple points where it seemed like it could use some work. When the fireball came down on that house it seemed... odd. It just kind of floated down. The Zoids, however, where very well done.

As for the show itself... the village attack seemed sanitzed. As far as I can tell, not a single villager died. If this is going to be a war anime (even a kid's one) I expect people to die. I assume the series will get better at this later.

Oh, and I'm looking forward to more Mei Li in future episodes. She only had about 10 seconds of screen time and I don't think she had a single line (laughing/giggling doens't count as a line).

Well that sucks. The video runs perfect for me, thats weird. I reccomend you try the VLC media player.

Goddess-Anime will start to release fansubs, maybe you should just wait for their fansubs and maybe you won't have problems.

I can't remember if anyone died or not in the village, we might find out in the next episode. But people do indeed die in the show, just like they do in Chaotic Century. Actually it has more death maybe. Here is a list of character deaths from the first 40 or so episodes that someone posted, spoliers of course so read at own risk:

Genesis has the following deaths:

-Seijuurou's student Jiro was killed brutally...giving Seijuurou tons of nightmares
-Ferude died when Ruuji came to save him from Zeruft City...that put Ruuji through a huge s***.
-A Kan-tachi all died....and then came back to life somehow...hence their name "Invincible"
-Gyorg died...pretty crazy death too.....but he was also an *******....
-Rain died....which explains why Mii is the way she is.
-Dinga died....which was actually a good thing because then we got Gaboule in return.
-Half the Elephander unit was annihilated. That actually MEANT something. In classic the guys would be like "oh man, they killed all our Iron Kongs/Gunsnipers.....plenty more where they came from.....In Genesis the lack of Elephanders kinda screwed the force up BIG time.
-Palburo could possibly have died. No one knows where he is but the effect was that without his Command Wolves, the force became ridiculously small and new Command Wolves had to be replaced. This was kinda of bad as the new guerilla Command Wolf pilots aren't as smart as Palburo's unit. (who came up with the one shot kill technique on Bio Raptors)
-Don Bull died, which is how Don Bull lady got the Konig Wolf Mk II.
-Lyna might have died....she got shot so yeah....
-Larada is going to die in the next episode...which is how Gene becomes King.

If you look at the press releases that VIZ has sent out I can't find anything saying they have the show. Everything I founf was from third-party reports. They did say that they will be releasing the Monster manga though and that is wonderful news.

I got around to watching the 2nd episode. Much better than the first episode. Right now we are kinda in Ruuji's shoes where we don't know much of whats going on outside the village. Nobody has left the village for 100 years, but when he leaves the village(in the 3rd episode) the plot will thicken with many new characters with the whole war story and all.

Oh, and Megami-Anime subs are MUCH better than TV-Nihon's. I'll stick with Megami-Anime. I'm converting there fansubs onto DVD^_^

I prefer Megami-Anime since I like there sub font better, it works better when I convert the fansubs to DVD.

However, I did download episode 6 & 7 of from TV-Nihon since I couldn't wait. Last time I downloaded episode 4 from TV-Nihon and the video file wouldn't run right for me, it would run very slow & was impossible to watch but episode 6 & 7 ran perfect.

Episode 8 was great. Ruuji's diving skills came in handy. Although I diddn't like him watching Zairin nude talking a shower-_-; I wish it was Kotona instead:P

Galaga was very serious in this episode after what happened in episode 7 and we got to see him kick ***. The Deadly Kong has secrets with many hidden weapons but we havn't seen them all yet like the one hidden in his arm where he goes berserk when the bandage seal is taken off & goes crazy destroying anything & Galaga has no control over it. The coffin on his back I hear is called the Hells Box where there are more hidden weapons he will use later like a huge axe. He even has a chainsaw. Its FILLED with hidden weapons & I can't wait to see more!


Next episode is called: Hot Spring Village. I look forward to that :wub: Every anime needs a hot spring episode.

Hey Levon, I've not been on here long but reading through your posts you mention that this series could be about the Zoidian or after there destroyed making way for CC.
Wow are you way off, lol. The Genesis series is set more that several thousand years after the Fuzor series.
And there are obvous things that point this out:
1) The Zoidian Race was almost wiped out because of their technological marval i.e. The Deathsaura, not by natural disasters.
2) In the intro at the begining of the series it says that "All past civilization was destroyed here" meaning all that was left of the past includeing things that point to the Zoidian Race was destroyed along with it.
3) You may note that apart from the bio-zoids there are no dinosaur zoids, thats cause for some reason there extinct in this series (Yes, I admit thats more of a note than a point, but thought it worth metioning).

Anyway thought you might want to know

p.s. I realise this would mean that the Zoid Eve would too be destroyed and there for the Zoids shouldn't work, but I think this might be the reason that they introduced the Reggel (Zoid Fuel), as it hasn't appeared in any other series.

I said that before the show even aired in Japan, I thought maybe it would be about the Zoidian's but its not as I clearly see from watching it.

Genesis has nothing to do with Chaotic Century, its a whole new story. One reason you can tell this is because in Genesis Planet Zi has only one moon & Chaotic Century has two moons. So there never was Zoids Eve or anything in the Genesis world.

But in the short clip before the begining credits roll it mencions Planet Zi, so I very much doubt that it's unrelared to the series it's self. Theres no reason for a planet with 2 moons, why 2 moons wouldn't orbit 2 diffrent sides of a planet (in fact for 2 moons to orbit the same portion sky would be quite a spectacular rareity).
An other question thats prompted is if the Series takes place on a diffrent planet, why is the rare speical metal that the main characters zoids posses called 'Metal Zi'?

I'm not saying that I'm right, I'm just saying it's at least worth thinking about, especilly since we don't have all the official details yet. I'm sorry btw, I didn't think to compare the dates of when you posted and when there series was released in Japan, I admit that I got alittle ahead of myself when I first stumbled on to this forum thred, but I think thats proberbly cause theres sooo much to read, which is always a good thing, :).

Yes Genesis takes place on Planet Zi but it doesn't mean its the same world. Genesis is like an Alternate Universe much like the AU Gundam's. Its a whole new story, just because its named the same doesn't mean its the same world.

Okay, think of it this way, why would the show need the use of Alternate Universes? Especilly when the major natural disasters allows everything to start from scratch anyway.

Its an alternate story, which means its just another brand new Zoids story starting all over. It has nothing to do with past Zoids, they wanted to make something new & fresh with Zoids.

The point of the natural disasters was the story, the planet isn't that much advanced at all but they have these bio-machines(Zoids) that they find underground/undersea. I watched some of the later raws & this anime turns out sort of like Scrapped Princess where the advanced technology comes into play later in the story.


Thats why I love Zoids Chaotic Century & Zoids Genesis, because while the mecha is pretty advanced the world is pretty simple with villages & such. Which gives it a fantasy feel to it rather than sci-fi like most other mecha anime.

One reason you can tell this is because in Genesis Planet Zi has only one moon & Chaotic Century has two moons.
Its possible the "ancestors" tried to destroy the other moon (or something like that) and that's why everything is buried deep beneath the earth. :O

Maybe. Actually in Chaotic Century there was a third moon but it was destroyed by the Deathsaurer. I believe thats what it was in the manga anyway.

Is there anything out there that tell the story of Zoids? Like the whole Zenebas(sp) vs Guylos Empire. I think that Zoids has a battle story which gives details of when certain zoids are made and then they have Zoids series which focus on certain characters.

In the battle story they talk about the Dark Continent and Guylos vs Republic then Zenebas comes into the picture and Guylos and Republic join forces but i never have heared talk about characters from Zoids Chaotic Century or other series.

Theres many different stories not related to each other. UK comics, manga, anime & games.

I forget but what you describe could be some history before Chaotic Century, in the manga theres a timeline.


Back to Genesis. I just learned that Julie Ann Taylor will voice Kotona in the dub. I'm very excited about that, that Viz will use such amazing VAs other than Blue Waters/Ocean Group. I hate those Canadian dubs most of the time, although there Chaotic Century & Zero dubs were pretty good. Fuzors is below decent.

So will they leave this uncut. They did cut some stuff out of CC and butchered Zero and Fuzors was just sad. I don't think AS will show Zoids Genesis so this will hopefully come out on DVD soon.

Zero & Fuzors were edited less than Chaotic Century. I wouldn't go as far as saying it was "butchered" because its not like 4Kids got a hold of it and edited every single episode to death. Theres just a few edits here and there, biggest edits are the shower scene & showing Reese's past when that boy was killed. Other than that there were just a few small edits, no big deal.


Although if Genesis airs on Toonami(like it was planned) then it might not get any edits. As far as violence goes Genesis is very tame, there really isn't any blood like there is in Chaotic Century.
If it gets the same treatment that Naruto got with a PG rating(instead of Y7) then it shouldn't have any edit at all.
However it depends on who will do the edits. I think with past Zoids Hasbro was in control of the edits but with Genesis I'm not sure if they are involved or not. We havn't had a new Zoids air in years, times have changed for the better maybe.

Well Zoids Zero was made into a kid show which was not the case in its original Japanese version:

All drug and alcoholic references. (Example: Dr. Layon gets drunk in a bar)

Implied sexuality and nudity. (Example: Episode 4; Bit walks in on Leena in the shower. While there was no actual nudity, it was implied.

Episode 18; Benjamin falls in love with the Judge; a male judge like all the others in the original Japanese, whose voice was changed to sound like a female in the dub).

Several incidents of comedic violence. (Example: Episode 22; Harry hits Bit after he mistook Bit for Leena and hugged him).

All Zoids are kids shows-_-; I'd say a level above Digimon & a level below Gundam. The age target is around 12-14 year olds mostly. Of course this doesn't mean adults can't like them. Think Star Wars, its aimed at kids but tons of adults loved it as well.

Zoids Zero is one of the more kiddy Zoids along with Fuzors. Chaotic Century & Genesis arn't as kiddy, they have darker & serious themes to them like war & death.

Yeah Zero was one of the more kid friendly shows but once they took the drinking, the shower scene and the whole robots thing was more for teens than kids.
