How much of the animations are from previous titles? Plenty of brand new ones?
Most of the @2 returnees so far have had the same animations reused, though some have been changed or tweaked.

I always siad that Ingram and Magus were tied for the best cut-ins, ever, but now Kouvley beat the hell out of both of theirs, nevermind that Kouvley is using a part of Ingram's cut-in. My God, Kouvley is going to be my first choice.

You've got my eternal thanks. If you're ever in need of a kidney or bone marrow, don't hesitate to call.
It's also pretty cool that it seems as though I'm getting my wish at least partially granted.
Also, I was just thinking it would be cool if Ingram was one of the Banpresto Original protaganists, somehow.
Edit: Jesus H. Motherfreaking Christ in a Chicken Basket. That's the most awesomest thing ever. You didn't mention that it's even got a remix of Astranagun's theme, not to mention the freaking Ingram cameo and the hair color change... which I can only presume means that Quovley IS Ingram in some way or another. I'm literally crying tears of joy, here. You are officially my lord and savior, RPGZeta.

Scenario 44. Just got Shin Koryuoh and SRX.
I get the feeling (well, certaintly rather) that SRX has far more attacks than I have yet. Its strongest move only needs 120 morale at this stage ;)
King J-Der's ultimate is also well worth watching every time, especially if its a kill (you don't get it till the final battle with the 11 Masters though).
Goldion Crusher has no special limitations on it. Once you hit 140 morale, smash away. :D Both ALL and MAP weapons are available (the MAP needs 150 morale though)

That battle rocked. It seems almost every character (major ones at least) has some line against the boss. The HTB Sequence also had at least 3 lines aimed at him in it when I used it on him. There's also a special line Cosmo has when firing the Ideon Gun at him
Once he's reduced enough, he regenerates about 120,000 HP. Various battlships then show up to cheer everyone on. Amongst them are Relena, Gloval and Minmei
Amuro sees the ghost of Char, Kusuha and Aya see Ingram, Camille sees Quattro, Judau sees Haman, Shinji and Rei see Kaworu. Kouji and Tetsuya see Kenzou, the Getter team see Musashi. Others see various people. Everyones cheered on, and the instrumental version of Gong starts to play (I think its meant to be the Sound Force playing it, supported by Mic and Minmei). The Ideon Guage fills up and *** is kicked.

I guess I'm the only one who doesn't play non-stop... I'm only up to stage 15. The zaft side missions with Serena weren't particularly interesting, because they completely watered down the Alpha Numbers. Camille is literally the only one that's not easy to beat. Anyway, I'm glad those stages are over. Dancougar's pretty flashy, but I still don't like it. :D

As in "on Zaft's side."
And as for morale being a *****, I didn't bother to check in normal, but in hard mode everyone only gets the +1 morale gain for a kill when an enemy squad is taken out. Is it like that in normal, or is it specific to hard mode? And obviously it's even less in extra hard, presumably.
Gaizokubanou

Yes. I'm afraid of the later fights with the STMC. Some of the big STMC units have 190,000+ HP normally, in EX hard mode all enemies get a 50% upgrade to all stats. You can't upgrade weapons, so they're going to be tough to take down. Especially in the 2nd and 3rd last stages where you have to take them down quickly or its game over.
Rough notes on EX Hard Mode:
- No weapon upgrades.
- Pilots skill and stat upgrades cost 2x as much PP.
- Morale is harder to get.
- All enemies have stats and weapons upgraded 50%
- Unit upgrades might cost more, not checked.
CrossboneGundam
August 3rd, 2005, 10:47 PM
If you don't get weapon upgrades, how is it possible to even damage certain enemies, especially ones who have damage nullifying barriers and such?

Even without no weapons upgrade I'm sure it's possible... it'll just take tedious management over your super robots for their fuels and morales for their super attacks.

Is Strike Gundam now the most upgrade efficient unit? The Strike upgrades carry over to Freedom, Justice, Strike Rouge, Buster, maybe even more! (I didn't get Izak on my side yet but maybe same applies for his Gundam).

All the secret units are still shady rumors at best, as far as I'm aware. And I don't think Strike's upgrades carry over to Buster.
Meanwhile, Serena's second unit, Alegrias(?) is awesome, and its map attack is something to be feared. That thing is just about capable of clearing an entire map in the one shot it's got.

I met the requirement afterall, but I just misunderstood it because I thought I was going to get it at stage 37. I got it with that orange MS from ZZ around stage 45 or so. Too bad Nue Ziel got nerfed badly, but it looks sweet and at least that MS from ZZ is pretty damn good :)
Just for those who haven't got those two secret goodies yet, Nue Ziel gets upgrades on GP 03 and the orange MS from ZZ seems to get ZZ Gundam's upgrades.

There is basically:
The original timeline (SRW 2, 3, EX, F, F Final (4 was there, but F and F Final replaced it)
Alpha (Alpha, Alpha Gaiden, Alpha 2, Alpha 3)
The other games have little continuity, though some things you can make fit if you really try.

I'm guessing that there are many points in the game where you can recieve the secret mechs, and you them as soon as you reach the requirement and reach one of those points...

Ah damn it, I let Rei kill the cube angel with her gun for the sake of matching the anime because shinji doesn't have that weapon... :(
So requirements are different for Sazabi and Hi-Nu? That's interesting.
Oh and Quin Mantha gets all the upgrades from either of the Qubeley... I don't know which one for sure because I had my Qubeleys upgraded identical to each other.
Nue Ziel, GP02(is this one even a secret?) Sazabi, Geymark and Quin Mantha are all of the gundam related secret mechs I've found so far, and Quin Mantha takes the spot for me for being the best one out of them because of its L size and newtype weapons. GP02 has very cheap all attack though, and Geymark is also pretty damn powerful, although I think it doesn't have any decent post move attack.

So, I just fought Gepelnich; the whole Protodeviln thing (Kaiser Nova with hot blood and Mazin Power active: roughly 9800 damage, out of over 250,000. :D ) and lack of Fire Bomber for story reasons, on top of Gepelnich's appearing after the defeat of the other Protodeviln enemies made it a decent challenge, not to mention his decent accuracy. He even used seishin once. Not quite Alpha Gaiden, but seems like we might be getting somewhere.

I've beaten the game once and am on the verge of beating it a second time.
Here are how to get the endings:
Ending A: The standard ending.
Ending B: The "true" ending I hear. To get this, you must complete the game with 57 or more skill points and finish in 420 turns or less.
Ending C: The BAD ending. To get this, you must beat the game once, and on your new game, on stage 41, choose "War" (top choose) and on stage 56 after you stick the Solo Ship next to the Buff Clan flagship you must choose "War" (top choice). This will allow a new stage 57 to pop up for the bad Ideon ending.
Oh, and I agree "Ware Koso Wa Baran Doban" is helluva addicting.
Oh, and this game has a plot connection to MX. Kaworu says to Basara that in his past life the song of an ancient god machine (he went into more detail about this) had a great effect on him. He is referencing RahXephon. Apparently, whenver Kaworu dies, he is reincarnated in another dimension, and he believes in the power of music after hearing Basara's song. It's REALLY too bad you only get him for one stage in here . . .
Oh, and Crossbone, nice avatar. I love Cobray and Dis Astranagun to death. Irui even says that Dis Astranagun has as much power as Ideon. O.o

So, anyone know what the story behind the crazy Alpha 3 version of the Third Impact is? Now we've got two Eva 01's and Kaworu piloting 00 and fighting alongside the Alpha Numbers against whatever evil scheme Gendou has in mind?
RPGZeta

Like I said, Kaworu died, was reborn in MX timeline, heard RahXephon's song, died again, and somehow ended up back in Alpha timeline. Completely serious.
Apparently, Seele is somehow able to possess Eva-01 and perform Third Impact and are almost even succesful (everyone was turned into FLCL for at least a short amount of time). Gendou is going along with it because he wants to see Yui again. Kaworu now believes in humanity after hearing RahXephon and now Basara's song, so he helps out. I have no clue how there are two Eva-01s, however.

There are never "many points in the game where you can receive the secret mechs," as I'm sure there isn't in Alpha 3. And Banpreios is the SRX upgrade... And Bemidoban is the name of Baran Doban's unit.
Check the gamefaqs forum... looks like my theory may be right afterall. Many different people are posting when they got their secret mechs are there are lot of incidents with different stages, including that poor sob who got his FAZZ at stage 59 ROFL.
Oh man I would be so pissed off if I got anything new at stage 59 lol.

Millia's VF-1J: In the stage Millia pilots her VF-1J, you have to get Millia to a total of 30 kills in the stage she pilots it.
RaGOH: In the same stage, DaCosta and Andy must get their total kills to over 10. I nthe next stage, Kira must beat Andy.

My main problem with it isn't the design itself, I just don't think it suits Astranagun. Ingram's motives were questionable, but he wasn't evil. The Astranagun had a sinister ominous look to it, but not enough that it sceamed "Bad Guy!!". It had that subtle edge to it.
Dis Astranagun just seems OTT, especially since Cobray doesn't have the sinister edge Ingram did. They've taken the "death" style too far in the design.
Plus its tiny compared to the original. Its less than half the size, which bugs me since it was a kind of counterpart to SRX. It just doesn't feel like Astranagun.
I would have rather Cobray got the original, with shinier animation.

I do agree that the style is a bit over the top, but I'm blaming that on the flashy design sense of whatever Golar Golem people turned Werkbau into Dis Astranagun, since I don't really have a problem with it. As for size, I'm blaming that on the fact that half of Astranagun fused with Cobray's Valk Ben, which I believe is considerably smaller anyway.
I didn't like some of the proportions on the original Astranagun, for some reason... The head and the upper arms looked weird to me. The overall style was really cool, but somehow I like Dis more.
At any rate, I wonder how exactly they'll get Cobray into the next OG game. I don't particularly want to see Dis R-Gun Rivale...

So, "Ware koto wa Baran Doban" is the most addicting song I've heard in a very long time.
And the original Ace Attacker was a nice reward for playing through some of those extra scenarios in the flowchart.
"Ware koto waaaaaaa! Ware koto waaaaaaaa! Ba-ra-n Do-BAN!"
Can't argue with that....
If I am not mistaken that means "we art Baran Doban! Recognize yo!" ;)

If your location is accurate, any large games store in Japan should have at least some chance of having a copy of an SRW game in stock. If it's just whimsy on your part, then you need to see the good people at Play-Asia.com because they still stock the whole SRW Alpha series.

liksang.com and ncsx.com, too. Although ncsx's shipping prices are extreme to the point of absurdity.
Since this thread is back from the dead, and since I'm still playing Alpha 3 more or less, I thought I'd mention that I really wish Banpresto hadn't tried to make First Gundam, Zeta, ZZ and Char's Counterattack occur more or less simultaneously in the Alpha timeline.

Yeah, I know. But it makes no sense to have the Zabis running around causing trouble at the same time Haman is doing the same and Quattro's a member of the AEUG...
I think ideally they should have started with Zeta, wrapped it up midway through the game, start up ZZ, after a little while bring Camille back from veggie town, and then wrap up with ZZ before finally moving on to CCA in Alpha 2.

My favorite boss theme in the game is The Witch Dances Seductively, despite the fact that Etwila is weak and annoying... That theme deserves a much tougher boss to represent.

I would want them to adjust the Alpha 3 engine to allow single unit deployment rather than platoons if they did decide to use it for remakes of older titles. Better yet, use the new Original Generations for PS2 engine. That won't have a platoon system.

If the engine is built for it, the number of units per stage isn't an issue however many stages you have.
Though the animations for all the units in Impact, and all those stages that would be a lot of time and work. I don't see them doing that for another game on the PS2.

Yep. There's no American release planned for any of the other games. Just OG and OG2. Maybe future games in the OG franchise, but probably not any others.
It's a whole big licensing issue. It's not going away any time soon.
Tis a bummer, I'd like to play these....but you know in a language I can understand. There are story guides on the net, and the menus are really easy to follow. It's also very easy to read the pilot and unit names, since they are mostly written in katakana, which is not as complex as the rest of the text in the game. Most written Japanese uses Kanji, which is impossible to read without years of study.
Then there's the chance that some of the games might be fan-translated. SRW 3 for the SNES already has been, but it's not the best of the series. There are quite a few translations in progress, but none complete, and not for any of the newer games.
