I haven't seen it, but Elfen Lied is supposed to be one of the most violent gorefests in a long time.
Personally, I'd go with Berserk.

If you want the most pointless violent anime with hacked up body parts flying everywhere and a very disturbing scene with a corpse watch...
NINJA RESSURECTION
This should satisfy any need for blood. If you have the cahonnes to watch episode 2 after 1 I give you props.

Wow, I can't believe I forgot Elfen Lied! I knew there was something I forgot. That is maybe the most violent anime I'v seen. I'm not really into ultra violent anime but I loved Elfen Lied.

Everyone said basily what I was going to say. ^_^ Ninja Ressurection is violent, but, this movie really sucks. Bad. Evangelion gets very violent as well, especialy in the movie. Manga is generally more violent....

Thanks for all your suggestion but I want something really, really, really violent. Im not saying thoese animes you guys are mentioning arent great but im look for...Exploding heading,Limps ripping apart,Extreme Gore with little or no Storyline, rape scenes, and knee deep in blood. Like a "Ichi the Killer" anime or something,"Wicked City" (Something that isent so mainstream such as Hellsing)

Elfen Lied definetly falls under that category. Just the first episode alone is a blood bath with heads being ripped off, limbs being snapped, and etc. The whole series is really gory. Berserk would also be another choice if you are looking for extreme gore.

I still say Ninja Ressurection then. If it reassures you, there is no character development, the fight scenes were more like mass executions of farmers by maniacs with katanas, they took a possibly good background story of the persecution of Japanese Christians and did nothing with it, and they trick people by making it seem like its the sequel to Ninja Scroll which was a good anime, but this was just plain violent gory junk. If you want to see how many ways the human body can be cut up by swords watch this.
But I do agree with Bounty3009 many of the titles mentioned were bloody already. If you want more blood then anime won't help you. For that you need to go into...
VIDEOGAMES!!!!
Or watch Saw. :x

MD Geist
Genocyber
Devil Man
Fist of the North Star
Angel Cop
Ninja Ressurection
Kite (more realistic... no monsters)
Kunoichi and Versus (live action)
Midnight Panther (adult)
a bit less violent but still pretty raw:
Puppet Princess
Spirit Warrior (pretty good old-school psychic/nazi/save the world stuff)
Blood Reign
Sword for Truth
Twilight of the Dark Masters
Vampire Wars
Devil Lady
Vampire Hunter D (both)
Wicked City
Psychic Wars

If you've seen Koroshiya Ichi episode 0 then nothing can beat it. Don't get fooled, Elfen Lied is the evil child of Love Hina and Chobits. It's bloody, but still the mix of Chobits and Love Hina. Nothing can beat Ichi, nothing will shock you as much as that.
Ahh, but the 3rd OVA of Devilman is also pretty gory. Although it doesn't make sense unless you've seen the series, which isn't even fansubbed. That's why even when I saw the 3 ovas I ended up understanding nothing. Now there's this new series for Devilman Lady, but it seems it's not as gory as I expected. Only seen 3 episodes.

you mean the part where his Tesiga broke, then he turned around and just ripped Naraku's copy apart leveing nothing but the head. yeah that was a pretty grusome episode. it's too bad it was the edited version thow. the un edeited would have been a lot bloodier
then there was one where inuyasha faces the girl with the fans. she controlled the minds of like twenty of Koga's group to luare Inu to her. and when he apeared they all just exploded from the inside. that was cool.
in that final episode of outlaw star hary micdugal gets completely destroyed buy the kay pyrate leader. his legs and arms pop out of there sokets while he's dangling in mid air. and his elbows and knees get ripped apart. you'd have to see that episode to get the full effect.

Devil Lady is my favorite of the Go Nagai Devil anime.

I'v seen all of Outlaw Star uncut more than once, even though its been a while so I might not remember a whole lot but I don't remember seeing gore. The blood level was around the same as Cowboy Bebop. I mean lots of parts of his body were machine, was there even blood? If you can post an image of the scene.

Samurai X is pretty violent. Alot of bloodspray, and I could swear a guy gets quickly diced into pieces in the beginning. But I'd recommend Samurai X just because it is a great story with the best animation I've probably ever seen, as well as incredible music.

OMG!!! I agree with everything you just said. (especialy the bad spelling and ghetto part.) And I just watched DBZ for the first time in, like, a year and I think it went streight downhill, no, down-mountain when they came out with the DBZ where they were all little punkey babies(I forget the little letters after it...) and it's more like a foux-anime really... <_< and the blood would be better represented by ketchup.(ketchup-catsup WHATEVER!!)

Robotech/Macross? I guess it depends on what you mean by violent, if you mean lots of people dieing then sure its violent(like all war anime, UC Gundam gives one of the best examples of this) but if you mean lots of blood & gore then no way. I'm pretty sure the thread creator is asking for blood & gore though.

In order not to repeat already mentioned titles (most of which are anime I haven't seen yet because they aren't legally available in Mexico and I haven't yet bought the american dvd's):
Saint Seiya
Okay, it's not so ultra mega gory always, but they kill guys all of the time. However, if violence is what you're after, there are select episodes you would enjoy:
The first 40 episodes of the tv series a pretty tame considering it was an 80's anime... except for the episode where Shiryu pops his eyes blind with his fingers so that he wouldn't turn to stone fighting against Argor of Medusa and eventually kills him (paying the price of becomming blind for a pretty large portion of the anime).
Another episode with a bit of a violence fest in the later part of the first 40 episodes is when seiya is only wearing civilian clothing and he is cornered by three annoying Silver saints. The gold saint: Aioria of Leo is watching the battle, but the gold armor of Sagittaruis appears by it's own free will and Seiya gets to wear it. Aioria warns those boons that they have no chance against Seiya now that he's wearing a better armor than them and they all three die in 2 seconds without even knowing what hit them.
The violence starts getting more interesting at the 12 Houses battle.
I'd say the most violent battles were: Cancer, Leo, Virgo and perhaps Capricorn (though Camus of Aquarius did get to smash against the wall a few times.. poor guy. I hate Hyoga for what he did to my Camus. ¬¬). Oh and the Milo battle, pretty bloody too.
Cancer, well, I don't have to give much of an introduction of his battle for the sheer fact that he decorates his guardian house with the faces of the people he has killed. He was very sadistic to Shiryu stomping on his head and back, pulling his hair, mentally torturing him...
Then the Leo battle. I personally thought the battle itself could have been more exciting. Seiya was just too wimpy at the time to be a match of any sorts against Aioria by wearing a simple Bronze armor (had he worn the Sagittarius armor again, things would have been more equal). However, the violent part of the battle is how it ends involving a third party.
The Virgo battle. Well, nuff said. Shaka is very sadistic and he enjoyed a lot playing with 3 enemies.. knocking them almost dead in 5 seconds. He was even nice to want to pierce the heart of one of them to end his opponent's suffering. Then when Ikki comes by and tries to give Shaka a good impression that he can send him to any of the 6 hells he wants, Ikki is such a nasty guy they keep kicking him out of them and sending him back to Earth. Shaka then is forced to use his best weapon: The Treasure of the heavens and then plays around with Ikki. Blood splatter, body deformation almost till the point of breaking Ikki's spine and more fun. Oh and lakes of hallucinatic blood for the sheer fun of it. Did I mention that Shaka bounces back Ikki's Phantom attack and makes Ikki see a really creepy vision of him and his brother Shun as young children about to die enough gory fun for you?
Lastly the Capricorn vs Dragon battle. Despite being so short, it's a very fun battle. Shura's slicey sword type attack sends Shiryu bleeding all over the place.. oh and forget about Shiryu's armor, it barely resisted the first blow. If you want a bit more of gore against Shura. Be happy, Shiryu amputates one of his arms. It's a very short scene that you will probably miss the first time (they repeat this scene a lot longer in the Asgard saga and it's very clear Shura was left without a right forearm).
The Battle of Hyoga vs Milo of Scorpius is bloody. Milo's attack is to send little laser rays to specific pressure points in his victim's body which causes severe bleeding, pain, paralyisis is certain parts of the body and then either probable death or insanity. Milo can shoot 14 wounds. The 15th is his mortal wound: Antares and shooting it depends on his own personal decision regarding the opponent. Sadly it's rare to see Milo use Antares (he does use it against a bunch of foes in Hades saga). Hyoga does suffer a lot spilling blood everywhere. You could almost feel sorry for Hyoga (I don't *evil grin*).
If you want other battles (that I found were more tame, but more emotional in the sense that I didn't want the Asgard guys to get killed because they were so cute), go ahead. Asgard is also a very good saga.
The bloodiest battle is the one of Shiryu vs Phenril. Phenril orders his pet wolves to bite Shiryu everywhere and he stratches his face so that the blood blinds his vision to torture him a bit.
Next in goryness is the battle against Mime who uses the strings of his harp to strangle his enemies. Mime rocks.
The Poseidon battle.. well some of the battles are pretty cool. The main problem with Poseidon is that it's so damn short (only 13 episodes, most of the battles ended in just 1 episode). It's hard to really enjoy the battles. Perhaps the battle of Ikki vs Kraken is the most violent of that saga. Ikki has a lot of fun mentally torturing Issac of Kraken for picking on his brother Shun.
And... *drumrolls* The Hades saga. I say, the violence in Hades is very different from the old style battles. The moves are faster and most battles too short. I think Shaka wins first prize when he kills 6 Hades spectres in like 2 seconds (he even took the annoyance of giving them a few hallucinations on the way for the sheer fun of it). When it comes to killing enemies with style and sheer amusement, Shaka wins every time.
However, the battle of Shaka vs Saga, Camus and Shura rules. I mean, it just simply rules. The way he uses the Treasure of the heavens and the poor saps just come flying into the air helplessly with their armors breaking into pieces.. Ah.. I can't get tired of seeing it. Course Saga does get to have a bit of fun with Shaka.. he almost sends him to the other dimension (god only knows where Shaka could have ended hadn't Shaka managed to get out of it in time.
I don't want to give extra details, but It would be fun to mention that around episode 10 Milo and Aioria give Saga, Shura and Camus a good beating (course I think Camus didn't deserve Milo to start strangling him like some psyco, that was very excessive).
Oh and Rhadamanthys in the Hades saga.. hahaha. He's very fun to watch. He gives Deathmask of cancer and Aphrodite of Pisces a good old fashioned beating leaving their armors shattered into pieces, them filled with wounds and even begging for their lives. Hahaha, Rhadamanthys is one of the funnest villains ever in the series (not that Aphrodite and Deathmask were angels either, I still think they deserved it for what they did in the 12 Houses battle knowing the truth about Arles).
Yeah, SS can have a lot of cheesy battles, but if you which are the good ones, you just can't get sick of seeing the cool battles. I just can't wait for the Hell chapter of the Hades saga to finally be animated. I can't wait to see Kanon of Geminis giving poor Lune of Balrog a nice beating (and eventually a beheading).
---
And if you did take my advaice and saw these specific battles of saint seiya and enjoyed the series a lot, you might even enjoy B't X which is from the same manga creator. Pretty cruel anime if you want my opinion.. ending is the weirdest anime ending I have ever seen.
Oh and another pretty violent anime that I liked is Zenki. Oh and Cat Soup is you find burning alive animals and reconstructing the bodies of chopped up human bodies a fun sort of child friendly entertainment.
Batman

Oh and Cat Soup is you find burning alive animals and reconstructing the bodies of chopped up human bodies a fun sort of child friendly entertainment.
man you muust have a lot of time on your hands, or your extremly bored to type somthing this long on this thread. or your just realy dedicated

I can't suggest anything that hasn't already been suggested, so I'll just put in one more advertisement for Berserk. You can just skip straight to the last episode if you don't care about the story and just want to get to the blood and gore.

As far as I have seen, the Dragonball series and Rurouni Kenshin are trully brutal anime series. Dragonball is all about martial arts fighting with a few ocasional filler episodes. The violent scenes here are trully those that will impact you in a big way. Rurouni Kenshin on the other hand is all about sword fighting, and it's like everyone wants to pick a fight in Kenshin for some reason. Really ultra violent if you ask me...

just get the edited version of Kite, the hentai in it is out of place and stupid1. Edited anime sucks on principle.
2. Kite is not better edited, since the sex scenes illuminate plot and character. Are they more explicit than they need to be for that purpose? Yes, and that's where the exploitation element comes in -- which is also not a bad thing, since Kite is textbook exploitation filmmaking, and that's exactly what Baka Ninja was looking for in the first place. :P

Haha. I guess thats how you define violent but its still relavant in a way but the guy is asking for extreme blood and gore and neither of those two titles have even enough.
The latest two are Elfen Lied and Gantz. Thats all you need to know. I'd post a couple of screenshots of the decepitated bodies laying in puddles of blood if I was allowed.

Well Let me see:
Of course there is Berserk, after I watched Kenshin I sorely wanted to see people die (I don't know why), but this was a great anime for that -_-;
Then there is always Samurai X:Trust, the Prequel to Kenshin that has some of the nicest artwork I've ever seen, with some good fighting an violence as well. I didn't say Samurai X: Betrayal(Although it's very good), because there isn't as much, it's more towards the end.
Then there is 3X3 eye, it's a great story, and it has tons of Bloodshed. Also Hellsing.
I would also suggest Ninja Scrolls, great anime, great story, great fighting, tons of violence.
Then there is an anime that isn't so good, but it has tons of violence, I don't recommend it for anyone who likes a good story or anything, but Black Lion, has tons of violence in it, I think you would enjoy it only for watching the bloodshed.
I'm not really a violent person, but it does bother me when watching heros like Vash, Kenshin, ect where they don't kill people, it kind of annoys me, so these animes help out. ^_^
And how could I forget the ultra cute, ultra sad, ultra violent Elfin Lied! Great story, tons of gore and violence, and lots of cuteness. It's kind of messed up, but it's good. It may have been a little to violent for me, but maybe not.

Berserk, plain and simple. People shot throgh the head with a crossbow, demons shot in the face with cannons, heads being smashed, such that their eyes pop out, and most importantly a HUGE MOTHER EFFIN' SWORD!!!! Booyah!
And the manga is even better. God, I wish they'd give Berserk the Hellsing Ultimate treatment.

Elfen Lied sucks; is like when you see a comedy movie where the same joke is repeated so many times that you get sick of it.
But anyways thanks for the names, you already said Gantz, but the manga is a lot more violent (and better), and i am watching an interesting one (anime) now: Shigurui, is pretty interesting, and some of the stuff is based on real life story (japon, XV century); it haves a lot of talking, but from the chapter 6 and so on it gets really intense (i mean violent). I am annyoying on this, but dont let a kid (brother, little friend, anyone) watch this stuff, or any ultra-violent stuff, you know the reason.

No; in Elfeln lied you see a lot of blood exacactly like you see a lot of ketchup; but for example in gantz there you even can study anatomy there; and in Elfen Lied the draws are so "echi" (or wathever that **** is called) that doesn't match with all that violence; is like see teletubies being destriped (but at least that would be funny)
In the one that i am seeing (shiguriu), the style of animation match exactly with all that violence.

Only get Elfen Lied if you like getting punched in the face by child molestation, a urinating mutant, and other bizarre stuff. The anime goes way too far and I'm not talking in the gore factor. I don't even know how this series fits in the magical girlfriend genre. I'll take my Fist of the Northstar any day over this series. Speaking of which you might want to look for the second series from the 80's and the third series, which came out in 2000 and had some CGI in it.

Here are some more gory anime titles
Anime series:
Berserk
Black Lagoon
Claymore
Elfin Lied
Gantz
Hellsing Ultimate
Now and Then, Here and There
Shikabane Hime
Anime Movies:
Ninja Scroll
Sword of the Stranger
If you haven't seen Sword of the Stranger and you loved Ninja Scroll you really need to see it.
As far as the others mentioned. Claymore is probably the one missed by most people but I can assure you it is badass and uses the more realistic art style of character design. Shikabane Hime is the anime series made by Gainax after they made the badass series Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. It is probably the least gory of all the other series listed but you can see the Gurren Lagann influence.
Now and Then, Here and There was made in the later 90's and is more adult themed then gory. There is implied child rape and massacres of entire villages but not every episode is filled with gore.
And last but not least Black Lagoon is just a damn good action series. I can't wait till the third season comes out next year!

I always wanted to check out "When They Cry" because I have been told that it's realy violent. I did not know about dog rape though.
Even though I am against animal sex, I would still like to check out this anime, it is an animated series after all so one one gets hurt depsite the fact that I am sure the dog rape scene will still groce me out.

I have watched the first season of Higurashi (the only season released in the US so far) and I do not remember any such scene.
Blood spatter? Yes.
Psychotic lolis killing people? Certainly.
A little girl committing suicide by repeatedly stabbing herself in the neck with a kitchen knife? Yep.
Dog rape? Not that I recall.
If it does happen, it must be in the second or third season.

If it's the US release you watched then perhaps it is cencored?

That doesn't happen all that often these days anymore. I'd say it's much more likely that it's in one of the next two seasons- especially considering what they would allow anyway.

It's good that anime is rarely sencored anymore.
I am curios how come sexual acts between human and animal is not edited out of the US anime DVD considering that animal sex is illegal in the majority of the United States?
Is it because it's animated it's legal?
It would make sence because no one gets hurt if it's animmated, some may get offended but not hurt.

Baccano
I don't know if someone mentioned it previously, 'cause I can't be bothered to read everything everyone posted, but it is violent.

I agree, I have not yet seen KITE but i'd much rather the unedited verson even if it was hentai.

I found Aria to be a very interesting show because its violence is so subtle. Violence in this series is a very tightly coiled spring, masked by a veneer of serenity as is typical of artsy Japanese fare.
Highly recommended. Its effect on the psyche is absolutely undeniable. It brings out your inner demons in a way nothing else can.

Elfen Lied (I think that is the name) looks really violent. I watched a clip of it on YouTube once and I honestly almost felt sick. It wasn't a normal kind of horrible animated violence, it was actually disturbing!

The only flaw in the depiction (not that it spoils it) is Maa-kun. The graphic depiction of Maa-kun eviscerating Aria-shachou is a bit over-the-top, even for a series as brutal as Aria. -_-;

7 years old too :D Tho i guess new anime is always coming out so it can apply. For instance, kara no kyoukai is pretty violent. Altho not bloody, madoka is pretty violent.
