I believe this is the right forum since I do remember Heidi being anime like and the Jungle Book series seemed to be anime like as well.
Does anyone know anything about these two shows?
One was a movie about Heidi which was an anime I believe. I watched it quite awhile ago and was with impressed with it. One of the last scenes in it was very emotional. Apparantly there was a TV series too but I'm not talking about that.
Another was a TV show about 14 years ago that aired on Canadian TV. It was the Jungle Book story but this was definitely not Disney. From memory they had interesting charactors, situations and would really give a slow build to certain parts of the TV show one would be anticipating. This really stood out from the pack.
Anyone familiar with these shows?

I'm not familiar with a Jungle Book anime, but I know that the Heidi of the Alps anime television series is a classic.
Alps no Shoujo Heidi had 52 episodes aired in 1974. The show was directed by Isao Takahata with Hayao Miyazaki doing scene design and organization (according to Nausicaa.net). Unfortunately, I've only watched, I think, just the first episode. Maybe the first two. So I don't know about the series' conclusion.

I believe the Heidi movie is just a compiled version of TV episodes.

So has anybody besides me seen this? I knew it had to be anime because looking back at it now the show just did stuff North American animation didn't do. Interesting to see my suspicions confirmed.

Yeah I used to watch it too. I grew up with it. I watched the Bengali version though, and the Hindi version too, a little.

More than I have; I've seen the movie on the shelves at the Japanese video stores, just never actually rented it. Saying though that the series is classic is an understatement - it's borderline iconic. It seems every Japanese who grew up in the 1970s until now has seen the movie and most can sing the hideous, infectious opening theme.
And, about the conclusion, I beleive TV Asahi spoiled it for me:
Heidi yells at her friend Clara to stand up and walk, despite Clara being a cripple. Clara manages to do it and everyone has a good, happy cry.
