Just picked up Vanquish for the Xbox360. This game is nothing short of amazing. I will say that from what parts I have seen, a lot of it is what P.N.03 should've been. Just got on Act4 and I'm loving it. Mayhem and carnage from beginning to end.

@Whistle: No, you don't need to buy Calamity Trigger in order to play BBCS's story. That said, you should probably read up on the story in CT if you intend to play CS's story -- it's a direct sequel and BB is very confusing due to all paths through the story being canonical despite the time loop.

Sims 3, Brutal Legend (Xbox 360)
I'm also getting a new PC! It's arriving on Friday! ^___^

Punch Out! (Wii)
I didn't have access to my balance board, but it's fun enough without. I got as far as somewhere in the 2nd circuit and I think I need to go back and memorise patterns of fighting before I can proceed...
I bought a copy of Scurge Hive (DS) for Ł2.98 this lunchtime at a branch of GAME, just because it seemed like a good price for a genuine copy. I seem to remember trying it and disliking it because it felt claustrophobic somehow, but I managed to block that memory at the checkout.

I was lead to believe it was the the latter.
It is Mega Man 1 that basically has extra features in it. Like a Easy, Normal, and Hard mode. Navi Mode that has Dr Light giving you hints in Japanese with Beat showing you the way, with an updated energy bar and menu. Plus if you press select on when entering Navi mode, you can have some remixed tunes while playing in certain levels. It also has artwork you can unlock, a enemy and boss list, and a boss attack mode.
Oh and it also has a dual shock feature you can enable to give the game feedback. Plus pocket station support, which I don't think will work on PS3 or PSP.

I recently got Soul Calibur: Broken Destiny for the PSP.
Its not bad but its defently not the best one either. Its got more stuff in the Character Creator then in 4 but unfortunately your very limited on how you can create the characters and the colors of there outfits.
Single Player Modes don't exactly give it too much in the replay value(unless your trying to get the outfits) and the Gauntlet Mode in the game has a silly anime like story but all it is it practically a long tutorial on how to block and execute moves. A nice concept if your just trying to learn moves..not for the main game itself!!
Some people call this game Soul Calibur-light. lol I can see now why. Not bad though for a portable and it was pretty impressive how they we're able to almost mimic the graphics that SC4 brought.
I heard rumors of a SC5 coming out soon. I can't wait if it is true and hopefully they will make the character creator mode even more sweeter. :)

Good choice on getting LBP2. I was kind of like you in regards to LBP2. I wasn't into the whole "Create" side of things, and I only played the single player levels along with a decent amount of fan made levels. LBP1 in essence was a simple platformer game tho, so no matter how cool your level was, it was still just a platformer game. However, LBP2 adds a ton of new gameplay options, including racing, RPG mechanics, SHMUPs, etc. Also, the story and gameplay of the single player levels is much more epic. I'm really liking the game so far, and some of the user made levels I've played have been crazy cool. I played a top down RPG type game yesterday called Omicron I think (tho the level might have been called "The first part of an RPG I'm working on" or somthing to that effect.

It does has some things that the Mega Man Anniversary Collection version doesn't have, like a hard mode unlocked after you beat the game. You can unlock artwork that isn't on Anniversary Collection. It has boss attack mode, and some other stuff too. In Complete Works 4,5 and 6 you can actually upgrade Mega Man/Rockman in navi mode to be more powerful by giving him chips that will make him jump higher and have more powerful buster shots, etc.

I dunno if it's still there, but the Japanese website for Radiant Historia had a bit of Javascript code you could embed into a blog that got you access to 4 or 5 songs from the game. I drove my roommate nuts because I created a mini-webpage with that javascript code and had it as one of the open tabs in Opera. Every time I started up Opera, it would fire out that page and play through those songs on loop.
Ah, looks like that same Javascript thing is built into their blog:
http://rh.atlusnet.jp/blog/
At the bottom right of the page is the little music player. I absolutely love that first vocal track.
It looks like the US release of the game comes with a piano arranged album only. I love piano music, but I guess this means we won't get the vocal theme song. :(
I may have to import the Japanese full soundtrack.

Haha, well yeah. Reason being, I don't really plan on playing randoms online too much and between my PS3 and 360, I have at least a dozen people on each I personally know who's getting the game. There'll be a larger number of people playing on my 360 friends list for sure, but I know "better" playing players on my PS3 list, including two of my friends that play on tourney level.
So either way I was cutting it, I was going to miss out on something if I only got one version. Plus, I got my PS3 Collectors Edition for pretty much nothing with credit I had left over.

Just bought Xenogears on PSN - first time I've actually used this system in awhile for its intended purpose...I usually just use it to watch BluRays. I have a 15mb connection and it still took 10 minutes to download the game, and then another 2 to install it. Ridiculous...Sony really needs to work on their OS and make it streamlined like the 360.

Quite simple, I didn't like it. I hadn't played MvC2 at all, but picked it up since I enjoyed TvC and it looked pretty good. Didn't like the 3-on-3 mechanic much at all, and just didn't care for most of the cast in the end.

I forgot to mention it but I recently got the void off steam for 10 bucks, Its pretty much the sorta game im into. great atmosphere and creates a foreign and hostile world that never really fully explains itself, It tells you things about the world and leave's you to make your own theories. Its full of philosophy and disturbing ways the world works, you will learn how to culture life only to use this knowledge to snuff it out and in the end to finish the game you have Ending spoilers:
to kill the world and everyone in it in order to ascend life to the next level. (which im assuming is the world we live in, though it could be a whole other universe as the game does have nods to the big bang theory.)

Picked up Vanquish (360) this weekend. I'm concerned that the difficulty might be a bit too much for me since I'm not that great at shooters, but it looks a lot of fun. I say knock the difficulty down to casual. If you don't, you might not beat the game otherwise, at least happily. That's not intended to be a shot at your skill level for these types of games, but more of a warning that this game is pretty challenging and unforgiving with little to no reward for it. Also, and I don't know if it was just me, but the game looks a lot more fun to play than to actually do so yourself, which makes it being so challenging kinda' moot.
Also grabbed a used copy of Nier (360). I've had a quick play on tenshi_a's copy of the game and I think it was definitely worth buying. It is however impossible to find new.Just curious but is this game extremely cheap over where your at, also? Over here in the states you can easily get this game, new, for $15 easy.

The demo seemed OK, but it was pretty cheap so if it works out unrewarding I'm not out too much. I think I will probably play on 'casual' cause no matter how kindly you meant that, my skill level for 3PS is not great. I bought it primarily because I'm a Mikami fan. I regard a game by him as being worth a look.

It's about twice that for a new copy, but they've been out of stock in most places for a while. That's why I borrowed tenshi_a's copy of the game. She's not planning to play it for a while, whereas I've already started it. Didn't get too far though.
While I enjoyed the introduction to the game, I had a couple of things to finish up. Not to mention DA:O which I've been playing a lot lately.

Outside of the challenges and God Hard, is Vanquish really that unforgiving? I mean...I dunno, if you try and max upgrade weapons (which is easy enough to do) while spamming the ARS bullet time mode you can pretty much handle anything with ease.
Also: it's just you, I think. I had a lot more fun playing than I ever would have watching, that's for sure. But that's true for pretty much every game in existence for me.

Not only that, but Platnium's been on a roll lately, so much I think I bought the game at full price because I really liked the demo as well as all the factors previous listed. So maybe my "dollar-per-minute of fun" wasn't meet and that has to do with my lackluster feelings toward the game.

I'm also not too far in it myself (around 11 hours) but I'm pretty sure most of that time is becasue I always let the opening (before you press start) loop around at least twice. I know that doesn't affect the games clock in anyway, but it just goes to show how much I love that little "speech" given on the games boot up.

Why I didn't especially find the game fun to play was becasue the same way you started the game was the exact same way you ended it. Which makes you feel severely underpowered with no real sense of progression to boot. That and I didn't feel they used the ARS system to its full fun potential. At most it was used to slow down the action so you can get outta' harms way, shoot incoming missiles/grenades or get your barrings together when the action was just too intense. Nothing exactly OH-EM-GEE worthy, IMO. What's worse is this is a Mikami game that there was little to absolutely nothing to do or unlock after you beat the game, which is a crime considering how short the game is....And no, I don't count the challenge rooms suitable enough.
Last but not least, the story is asysmal in this game. Abysmal. Which is something I never expect to be good in the first place for these types of games or anything that I'm ever looking foward to. Bayonetta's story was a nonsensical mishmash of I don't even know what but at least I know it was trying to be camp. Vanquish was just.....I don't even know what it was trying to be. Serious? Camp? Don't know what, but it failed on all accounts...

Well...
1. I don't understand what you mean about the "same way you started it you ended it" bit, what do you mean?
2. I both agree and disagree on the ARS -- it's pretty interesting but the thing is literally called the Augmented Reaction Suit, not the Do Everything God Can Suit (DEGCS). I don't really expect it to do much beyond exactly what it says on the tin; that you can boost, do bullet time, melee gigantic robots to death, etc. is pretty cool. I do think there's stuff they could add to make the suit more functionally diverse, though.
3. Agreed on unlocks and additional content. Challenge rooms and God Hard suck as unlocks -- God Hard nobody but the hardestcore of people will play and even then it doesn't unlock anything so it's purely for e-peen and little else (I got up to 1-2 on God Hard before I quit due to too high a challenge and no real point to playing). The Challenges are fun for 1-5 if you can beat them but Challenge 6 is flat out ridiculous and the only thing you get for beating them all is just a trophy anyway. Not exactly fun.
4. Really? I thought that while the writing and lipsyncing was bad, it was still a pretty decently plotted story. Nothing too over the top, nothing truly unbelievable, a typical if a bit far fetched plot, etc. One of the biggest reasons I laud it is the game doesn't move you into the shoes of another protagonist or show you much of anything outside your immediate situation: you stay in one single conflict and the game refuses to pull you out of that conflict. It's kind of realistic, Sam doesn't get to have a break at all during the game.
Different strokes for different folks, as you said earlier.

Basically, you're no more powerful at the end of the game than when you first started. I feel the game should have had some sort of Megaman/Castlevania/Metroid/etc. power-up system that whenever you beat one of the games bosses, you get their primary power-up or special attack. That would have made things way more interesting than the really lame weapon upgrade system they had in place. Not only that, the ARS meter should have gotten at least harder to diminish as you progress through the game.

I dunno, I never really felt I needed an upgrade during the course of the game, aside from it being almost ridiculously easy to die in some situations, I never had any issue killing anything, the Anti-Armor Pistol is the most ridiculous weapon in the game, and the only one I max upgraded (actually, the only weapon I even really bothered upgrading), considering it is basically a 1-shot kill weapon on any grunt and did massive damage to bosses.
Still, I thought Vanquish was a blast, plot got kinda weak at the end, IMO, but the gameplay was really fun. Took me about 8 hours, and it helped that I spread it out over a few months, not 1-2 days

My most recent:

Atelier Rorona: The Alchemist of Arland (PS3) (Ł22.25)
Rome: Total War Gold (PC) (Ł1.49)

Harvest Moon 3 - Sunshine Islands (Nintendo DS) (Ł11.92)
Sega Dreamcast Collection (Xbox 360) (Ł17.99)

(I'm still thinking about the price of Dragon Boxes in your Dragon Ball thread, haha)Haha, True. Also, the Dragon Ball Boxes aren't too expensive over here. You can generally get one box online for around $30, which isn't too bad, especially with 40+ episodes in each box. ^_^
Ghost Trick (Nintendo DS) (Ł19.99 preowned UK ver)I really do hope you enjoy this gem of a game, which is also my first entry to my hopefully growing GOTY nominee list.
Pre-ordered PilotWings Resort for my 3DS which I'm quite embarrassed to say that I didn't even know was coming out until earlier today. I've been following the Japanesse release via Podcast and it wasn't until I was listening to an old episode (Well, most recent but took a while to listen to it) of 8-4 play (http://8-4.jp/blog/?lang=en) that I found we're getting PilotWings which is kinda' sorta' cool, I guess.
Well, it's the best game to get on release day anyway.
Also pre-ordered Portal 2 (PS3) mainly for the free STEAM version. Don't know who at Sony thought to do such a thing, but they need to promoted to some higher echelon of marketing 'cause this was just genius.

Oh, I see what you're saying now. Eh, I dunno, Sam already feels like a total beast in the game. Plus the removed limiter at the end of the game with the double Bogeys would make way less of an impact if you gradually got stronger anyway.
...you didn't think it was movie-worthy? It had tons of locations, tons of unique bosses, tons of explosions, more plot than anything Michael Bay ever produced for sure, and lasts (at minimum) around 3-4 hours on Casual Auto / Casual difficulty. Plus you can replay it and there are other things to do. So it seems like it has way more value than an equivalent film.

True, but I'd rather feel more powerful gradually throughout the game than one brief moment at the end.
Also, I don't know why you put that part in quotes since the game has no story to spoil anyway. :P

Fiiiiiinally found a copy of Radiant Historia. The game's only been out a month, and it's already hard to track down in my neck of the woods. This begs the question, "Why DID you order a 3DS?" My only inclination to get one is getting ported to the 360 and PS3, and I'm less than impressed with the unit after playing with it in a store. There are no Pokémon from previous games available in the wild in Pokémon Black or White. If ya want 'em, you need to transfer them from one of the other DS Pokémon titles.
When you take into account that Pokémon could be transferred to those DS titles from the yet older GBA games, and then bred and traded over the internet, pretty much every Pokémon there ever was should be available somehow or other.
While I'm sure you don't want to buy a pile of other games, maybe someone will be trading Pokémon from previous games over the internet and you can still get your favourites. :)
My dear tenshi_a picked up a copy of Ghost Trick (DS) for me. She knows that ever since Ryushe's overwhelmingly strong recommendation I've been thinking about getting it...

Incorrect. They're available in the wild. You just have to beat the game first. Not everything is available, obviously, but a good majority is.

Oh. Well.. I can believe that since a quite a lot of Pokémon from GBA games were only available after beating D/P first, but I thought I read otherwise.
The article I read must have been saying that few if any Pokémon from older games would be encountered during the story... maybe? If so I must have taken it to mean more than it did.

Yeah, it's purely Unova Pokemon until you beat the game, at which point the Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh Pokemon also show up.

They had Fallout:New Vegas collectors edition for PS3 for $30 at GameStop so I decided to jump on that. Great deal for $30 if I say so.

De Blob 2 (360)
Humble Frozenbyte Bundle (http://www.humblebundle.com) (PC)
TBH the upcoming games in the bundle seem more appealing to me than Trine / Shadowgrounds. $20 to charity, nothing for the devs or organisers, 'cos that's what I'm feeling like.
