Unless Sunrise changes their minds, the InuYasha anime is over.

I haven't heard of them releasing new episodes, as far as I know and seen, the series is done with, they even said it was the last episode on the last episode. The manga is still going though, and a movie will be released later, thats about all I have heard.

With the exception of the 4th movie coming out, (Or already came out, don't remember which) no, there isn't going to be anymore Inuyasha made.

Inuyasha isn't finished, it's just taking a long break since it is catching up to the manga.

Well it is, and it isn't. The fourth movie is being released in Japan this December but it's completely unrelated to the main story. The TV series concluded at episode 167 in Septmeber. Sunrise in Japan was marketing it as the conclusion to the "first" season of Inuyasha, hinting there may be more. The anime concluded Chapter 355 of the manga, the manga is presently at Chapter 385 with still no end it sight. The crreators have unofficially stated that they would like to complete it, Sunrise hasn't "officailly" stated that Inuyasha is over, and Sunrise was displeased when the Viz rep leaked it at the San Diego Comicon. So will it be continued at a later date, who knows. But Sunrise has always been too fast with the story behind Takahashi and then they have to make 8-10 filler episodes in a row because they caught upto her too quickly. It was still popular when it ended, the questoin is will its continuation be more popular than Gundum Seed 3?

I gave up on inuyasha. I loved it for the longest time, but damn. Who cares anymore. It just dragged on for too long. I don't care what happens anymore, in fact, somebody should die, might make it worth watching again.

u kno...it couldnt be over because the left an unanswered cliff hanger. If i might make a refrence all great movies and games usually have a cliff hanger so people will watch or buy the product, what i think they did was at the end of 167 they left that huge cliff hanger saying he wasnt going to stop until he kills naraku. so thats my 2 cents.

A lot of anime have open-ended or "cliffhanger" endings; InuYasha isn't the only one. Sometimes, it's because the manga off of which the anime is based was still being published when the script for the end of the anime was written, and the animators decided to leave the doors open rather than give the anime a conclusive ending. Sometimes, the director decides to leave it to the viewer to determine what happens after the cliffhanger ending.
I think in InuYasha's case, it's the former. The manga, off of which the anime is based, was still being published when the anime ended (in fact, it's still going strong in Japan even now). When the anime ended, I think Sunrise was still considering coming back later on to finish it, and a cliffhanger ending would allow them to do that.
However, it's been over two years now and no one at Sunrise has given any hints that they're considering finishing the anime once the manga is over. I think it's futile to get your hopes up. Might as well accept that episode 167 is the last episode. If you want to know what happens after the anime's end, go read the manga - that's my suggestion.

I recommend you either
a) read the manga,
b) watch and rewatch the movies until you've memorized them, or
c) (and this is if you're desperate) rewatch the entire series over and over until you've memorized every single episode.
That should be enough to give you your InuYasha fill. If that doesn't work, then - and this is a super last resort - go find some tame (and I mean, TAME) doujinshi (fan comics) to read online. But be careful; you may scar yourself for life that way.
Of course, you could also always just write Studio Sunrise a letter requesting that they make more InuYasha episodes or if they won't, at least explain the reason why. They're not going to know you want more if you don't tell them.

As of the year 2009 they will resume making anime episodes of Inuyasha in Japan based off of the manga. The date it will air in other countries hasn't been acknowledged so its speculated that it will be between the years of 2010 - 2012.

And where did you find this information if you don't mind me asking?

There isn't. There haven't been any talks between Takahashi and the production studio in over 2 years. It's most likely a troll.

An announcement (http://www.ytv.co.jp/anime/suwa/suwa_main.html) was made by IY producer Suwa Michihiko that a new Inuyasha animated special will be screened at the upcoming “It’s a Rumic World” exhibition — going on July 30th to August 11th. The OVA/OAD, entitled “Kuroi Tessaiga,” is expected to be a single 30-minute episode.

Looks like "Final Act" is confirmed for 26 eps... how the heck are they going to get 21 volumes worth of material into 26 eps? Granted, even in the Inuyasha manga, there's plenty of stuff I deem 'filler' (Shippo leveling up for one), but man, I guess there's going to be a lot cut out. Probably not a real loss though.
