In reesponse to the worst anime ever topic i have started my own topic, best anime ever, post your favorite anime here (althought this info could just as easily be found out by looking in your description, so what!) my favorite is Evangelion. Yours?

The best anime ever are Doraemon and Lupin, IMO. They aren't my favorites (although I enjoy them), but I think that Doraemon has adapted itself into Japanese culture firmly enough to give it an icon status. I also think Lupin's endless success that has spanned decades (and more to come) through movies, TV series', games, merchandise, and others have given it an icon status, too.

I love the Gundam franchise, I'd have to say Mobile Suit Gundam Zeta is my favorite anime series ever, if Seed Destiny continues to be as good as it is now, I will probably up that to first.

People will always have different opinions about this because alot has to with interest in the story and what genre your into. My personal best ever will always be Fushigi Yuugi. This romance/drama story touched my heart so deeply unlike any other anime series I've seen. I like so many others too but FY will always be the best for me!!

My opinion,Nothing can truly be overrated or underrated-its all just heavy opinions. Think about it,we call something overrated or underrated on how WE view peoples reaction to certain things. Saying bebop is overrated is like saying "You people think too highly of it" But who is anybody else to say bebop doesn't deserve it..Just because in their book bebop isn't that great of a series..Its all opinion yet some people drop their opinions around like they're facts.

Which one? I hate asking this question again:lol: but people do know that there are many diffrent Gundam anime right? Some are worlds apart. Just try to compare Turn A Gundam, G Gundam & Mobile Suit Gundam. There like complely diffrent shows that just happen to have Gundams.

Mobile Suit Gundam was the first of its kind. It really pointed out that giant robot anime could be more than just super hero type stories. Mobile Suit Gundam was a deep war story, about characters doing through the horrors of war & even about human evolution. You could take away the mecha & still have a great anime since the mecha isn't what makes the show good, but it is a good bonus.

Tomino is one of the most influeced mecha anime creators right up there with Go Nagai. I'm sure his Aura battler Dunbine influenced Escaflowne as it is also a fantasy mecha. His Gundam & Ideon influened Evangelion.


And for the record, Anno's 2nd favorite anime is Mobile Suit Gundam. He also worked on Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack in 1988.

I don't think Cowboy Bebop is good because it doesn't really entertain me, I don't care for the gunfights, or the characters(Except Faye), it's just not my kind of anime.

Naruto has no characters I like, I gave it 18 episodes, and I just don't like it. Simple as that.

Evangelion is very generic, I've seen it all before, it's overanalyzed, people look at simple events and turn them into something they are not. Or take the actual metaphors and messages in the show and make them seem incredibly deep, I just can't stand Evangelion fans, I watched Evangelion 3 times over and I realize that the fanservice in Evangelion, is fanservice, not some introduction to a certain character's personality, or a group of characters's relationship.

Overall people, I don't care if you don't like Gundam, but don't say it sucks(or any anime you havn't seen much of) before you watch a good amount of it, because you could be missing out on a franchise you could have enjoyed if you didn't make snap-judgements.

Basically Samurai anime kicks *** ninja scroll, kenshin, and samurai champloo.

Along with ones like Inu, Yu Yu,

and the only good mecha is basically evenaglion and the 2 gundams i stated.

just because you can't get as much out of evangelion as other people can, doesn't mean that what you don't get doesn't exist. if other people see deeper meanings in the fanservice, then it's possible that it was purposely made that way. there's no way to prove it either way unless if you ask anno himself (and the other people who worked on it).

You see no fansubs because it isn't fansubbed. Well the recap movie is, but the entire 39 episode TV series and the ending movie Be Invoked have never been fansubbed. I'm pretty sure the Region 2 DVDs are out of print, and of course I highly doubt we'll ever have it on region 1. I can PM you a link for the recap movie if you want, I have no clue where you can get the rest since my source has vanished from the web since I got the show a few years back. Ebay of course has the bootleg DVDs of the first half of the show -_-

Naruto's character development involves giving 4 episode flashbacks of an antagonist that naruto is facing, saying these and those unfortunate things that have happened to him, and when the fight between naruto and the antagonist finish, the mangaka either kills the guy, or left the guy out for the next 200 manga chapters. It's true if you watch naruto further than ep 18 you'll meet alot of characters, but you'll either see them fight once and never hear of them again, or there will be one episode flashback describing their painful past before the story moves on without them.

I'm going to have to agree. I know there's a huge consensus somewhere where people think NGE is the absolute best because of some secret message or something, but I enjoyed NGE for its psych trip. Everyone had problems, it wasn't so much a question of who had them, it was a question of who had worse.

My personal favorite is Asuka. She went through a lot in her childhood, has an interesting tsundere (is this the word?) personality (and I happen to believe her and Shinji are in love.... **** off), and has an awesome scene at the end of the movie where she goes bananas on the EVAs and kicks all types of ***.

I used to think Eva was the end-all-be-all of storytelling. I still love it, but in recent years I've come to love One Piece to an absurd degree. It's just so goddamn fun. It's hilarious, doesn't take itself too seriously, and yet it manages to pull at the heart strings and inspire like no other. And it just keeps on getting better, unlike many of it's shonen brethren that loose themselves later on.

But if we're including movies, nothing beats Ghibli.

Cowboy Bebop is very artistic and excellent. When it is good, it is really, really good. I just wish all the episodes were as serious as 1, 5, 12, 13, 25, and 26. Still, it is a strong contender for best ever.

Still, the most well done anime I have ever seen is Gungrave. It kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. Some people say parts of it are boring, but I disagree. I enjoyed every ep.

I have the hardest time getting into that show. I'm only on episode 3, but it took me a whole 2 weeks to put episode 2 on after episode 1.

I don't know why, the show is just weird. Everyone says its awesome though.. I guess I'll do one of my "forceful watches" on it, and hopefully it'll get better.

I'm looking for a 5th anime to rate 10/10 so I can actually have a top 5 instead of a top 4.

well, really...if you get past i would say episode 3, that is when the show gets really good. its not like the first two episodes are bad, it is just the parts where the characters get their mechs, which most fans are impatient for. At episode 3 onward, there is never a boring episode, new characters are introduced, and in every episode, there is always an epic battle. This show is my favorite because it take a simple premise and then hyperbolizes it to an extreme level of epicness in which no one can deny. So give it a try, if you dont like it....well, too bad, your missing out on an amazing anime.

Yeah, I got to the 6th episode, it's getting better.

It follows a very simple formula for the story line, but the characters are great (if you like ecchi lol).

exactly, gurren lagann is an anime that there is NO character that I hate, even the villians i love. When that "top 3 male characters" post came up, i wanted to put all the top characters from Gurren Lagann. It is such an uplifting show that I know that I could be in the most depressed state, and I just watch this show and I will automatically feel better.

^even so, rossiu at first was awesome, but then when he became all strict and crap, he was an annoyance, but i never hated him...but then when they showed the clip of him crying because of his decision, i felt bad for the guy....he tries so hard to be a good leader like simon, but doesnt have the fighting spirit to do it.

Gurren Lagann would have been great if they ditch the drill and have more real-type stuff(machine guns, missiles, sliding mechanisms), super type stuff make it look like another kid's show(which it is... but still...).

Shinji... don't get me started on him. He never pissed me off though... He may be an emo little ****, but he never betrayed his own friends. Sure, he sat back and did nothing while my beloved Asuka.. but he didn't send them to be executed. Not just his friend either, the freakin' hero of the damn world! That asshat, can't stand him.

uh...what? did you not notice that the drill was an ongoing symbol of the show? Guns would just make it stupid, its not a super robot show if its just "pew pew pew...zap zap zap, your dead" The drill was the center of the show, how with each on going second, you go farther and farther, it was showing the ongoing "evolution" (for lack of a better term) of humanity and how we will always keep going forward, no matter the circumstance.

and really? how do you consider GL a kids show?....i literally cried on episode 8 (fans of the show will know why)....i dont think that a kids show would have a character actually help my life.

yea yea, Anno wanted that to be the theme of Eva...and it was for the original ending, sorta? but because too many people hate shinji, Eva doesnt really have that same impact as GL....i think GL is what Eva was aiming for, but it didnt work out too well. I think that there should be a Kamina character in a lot of anime. Particularly in some harem series, so the guys stop being gay and man up.

Exactly, man, I like the way you think. I think that Kamina would do perfectly in other animes...like in Fullmetal Alchemist, he would have just run straight for the homunculi and it would only have lasted 10 episodes lol

Actually I like Simon better, but in the end that wouldn't have made a difference because with Vic being the VA it still wouldn't have worked out. In fact the fangirls might have turned out worse.:blink:

If it wasn't for the moe craze right now GL would have made a huge impact.

One of the best anime movies anyway that's NOT Ghibli is Millenium Actress. It's just such a beautifully done picture that's both sad and funny. I love Satoshi Kon.
