Well, just name a few spiritual sayings/actions/scenes in anime/manga that were awe inspiring......
As for me, I think one of them would be from Someday's Dreamers. Sure it may be a shoujo intended for younger viewers when compared to something like Kita He or a manga like Darling wa or Orboretai or Nude or Hotaru no Mori, etc. etc. But, hey it's still good.
I just thought the last episode (Can't describe or else it would be a spoler.... :spin: )when Yume does the spell on Masami Oyamada. The reason I think it finally worked is because Yume finally learned that it's not the power or the strength of the spells that matters, but instead the need for simple comforting.

I thought Fushigi Yuugi had so many spiritual entities to the story which really made it so wonderful to see. Especially about it being about priestesses summoning one of four beast Gods of the land and sacrificing themselves to save it. FY is trully a wonderful romance story about true love and absolute devoted loyalty. Total devotion and loyalty to go though with all obsticales that came their way in the darkest of times and persevere to the very end. This story was trully so inspiring to see, and it touched my heart like no other. It's a really series to see if you like spirituality.

Another one I have to say is Kimi no Kakera. Not once had I ever seen a SHOUNON anime/manga ever to be written even on the same level as a SHOUJO manga until I had read Kimi no Kakera. With that said, I think the overall struggle to survive in a dieing world was very awe inspiring. From Icoro the princess of a nation who can barely afford to eat even once a day and live in what's a little bit better than a broken down adobe. To Shiro, who doesn't feel pain, has no memory, etc. The struggle to find a myth that are told only in legends......
a struggle to possibly survive on the world where there is no sun.......the two journey to find one.....

I can only think in "Munto", it reminded me that we must dream first and believe in ourselves to get what we want...

X with the Kekkai. How they only could create a kekkai if they have someone important or a special person to protect.....

I've seen spiritual stuff in Sakura Wars and it was pretty decent. I'd agreee with Lemina about Fushigi Yuugi.
Rurouni Kenshin has the most awe-inspiring spiritual philosophy.

In a way Earth Girl Arjuna has some spiritual stuff, probably not the deeper pholosophy you are talking about. But if you beleive you are connected with the earth as some religious teachings imply, Arjuna hits upon those. And it's very touching too, for me atleast, because I beleive it.

I totally agree about Earth Girl Ajuna, it's an environmental themed story and it certainly has alot of spirituality in it. Namely the spirit of nature. The beautiful CG animation used in this series only mades it so much more captivating to see.
Another worthy mention has to be Princess Mononoke. Alot of spirituality, and how nature tries to clense itself from the polluting people have done to it. It was one of the most touching stories to see. I definitely think it would be nice if I could experience the beauty of nature just like it was pictured here in real life.

As usual, it seems there's a need to define what the term 'spiritual' means for you... :)
.
It means 1 thing for a person an another for his neighbour.

lacking material body or form or substance; "spiritual beings"; "the vital transcendental soul belonging to the spiritual realm
Honestly, anime has a strong effect on me, why I dunno.
But, it's really,well powerful. I can't explain it.

Wow, this thread was revived, let me see, Rurouni Kenshin. From the spirits of the deceased who haunted Kenshin thoughout RK Tsuiokuhen, to white dove who represented Sayo after her passing in the Tales of the Meiji arc, to the insects representing the state of nature, to the significance of Kenshin's scar representing Tomoe's feelings for Kenshin, this series had its fair share of spritual touches throughout the story. One that helped make this series so memorable to see just for that alone.

I couldn't agree more. How do I put it...? Princess Mononoke shed light on how even the actions of a small group of people (the iron mill town) can have a huge impact on the surrounding environment - in other words, how human actions can alter the spirit of nature, and how nature tries to cleanse what human pollution has done to it. In a way, it sort of emphasizes the importance of protecting the environment.
