Wing Commander II Question

When I was playing the classic videogame Wing Commander II, I was on a deep space patrol then all of a sudden I received an incoming transmission from the communication officier from the Concordia she said "We lost transmission with one of our outpost in Niven colony due to sunspots, so investigate there at once." So I accepted that assignment then on the auto navigation computer it says: Nav 1, Nav 2 & Niven. I decided to try to reprogrammed the navigation computer instead of going to Point A (Nav 1) to Point B (Nav 2) to Point C (Niven) I programed it to go to Niven directly then all of a sudden it work & I got to Niven with no problems at all. So can you actually reprogrammed the navigation computer to from Point A to directly to your destination? & Why?

supposedly it works in DosBox (http://dosbox.sourceforge.net/comp_list.php?showID=289&letter=W), an "old DOS PC" emulator.

As for the question... dunno. Check gamefaqs.com as usual. I haven't played WC2 in years

If I recall correctly, you can choose which nav point you want to go to in the map. You don't always have to follow the nav points in order (or at all in some cases).

Yeah, from what I remember of the Wing Commander series, you didn't have to follow the nav points. Of course, if you were scouting/escorting and skipped a nav point, it might bite you on the way back.

By the way, when you guys were playing Special Operations 1 and Special Operations 2 are they really expansion packs for the videogame Wing Commander II? or are they really just side stories for the videogame (Wing Commander II: Vengeance Of The Kilrathi)? & Why?

Wing Commander 2 was freakin' awesome. I got my copy to work, but w/o sound. I loved the original, and the second was a vast improvement. It blows major chunks that the Tiger's Claw was destroyed...that was a cool name for a ship ^^;
