Oh, yeah. I used to watch that years ago. For me it's stale now. Try Fawlty Towers with John Cleese if you want good British humour. It's one of the best comedies I've ever seen.

I love "Are You Being Served?" so much. BBC America is rerunning the series in the afternoons so I am glad to catch up on the episodes I missed.

I could never get into "Fawlty Towers". It never really caught me.

I love British comedies. My favorites are Keeping Up Apperances, Mr. Bean, and Monty Python. I just recently started watching the sketch comedies Brilliant! and Velvet Soup on BBC America. They are pretty funny and I might watch the new show Little Britain that premieres tonight.

Velvet Soup is wacky as hell, but some of the jokes just don't punctuate well with me.

Little Britain is wonderful. The cast of characters are so off the wall and I love how they introduce us to them, documentary style.

Blackadder is my favorite of all of the Britcoms. It has two actors I will always love forever-Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie-and awesome insults.

'I'm the only gay in the village'. Oh, God, that show had me laughing for hours!

Do you guys get Father Ted over there? It's Irish, but I figure it's just as popular in England.

I think the only one British comedy that I never 'got' was Only Fools and Horses. There was just something about it that confused me much more-so than made me laugh. Also, I watched it when I was really small, and the fact that the guy who plays Rodney was also in Goodnight Sweetheart just confused me into not being able to tell which show was which....

Speak for yourself dude, I watch that show everyday. When I watch it, I laugh hard & I totally crack up.

Oh and one more thing, it's already out on DvD already.

Wheneven I watched that show I "crack up" hard.

It still suprises me that Americans get British humour, though. When you look at something like Friends, the jokes are so obvious and stupid and you put like, even something like the Office and you see Americans who enjoy it and it's like 'How?'

That's no offence to Americans, BTW. It's not you that stupid. It's the things you laugh at. ;)

Upon watching what are considered english comedies, I've been saying the same of the English for years, so no offense taken.

"You could have had a bit of **** there! Oh, 'I'm the only gay in the village...' You're full of **** you are!"

I believe my WLIW channel 21 has Father Ted on every Friday.

I would love if WLIW would air Red Dwarf again. I only caught that series on and off and had a blast with it.

I love this show so much! I just love how Captain Peacock attempts to stay as distinguished as possible despite the wacky behavior of the people around him.

I'm not familar with episode titles, but my favorite episode would have to be the one in which they were given control over the cafeteria. I laughed so hard when they tried to make turtle soup! lol

You know, the first thing that popped into my head was that movie... but now I see its about British humor. I used to watch British comedies before I got into my korean and taiwanese dramas. Talk about opposites...

yes, I watch that, seeing that me and my parents are in blood english, I watch sometimes randomly on BBC america. I also watch sometimes Keeping Up Apperances. that is funny, I don't see how that Richard can be married to such a Woman such as Hyacinth. BTW their last names are Buckett. Misses Bucket please! but she always says, please! its pronounced "Buquee". but thats just another one of those funny British shows.
oh god listen to me rambling on, I better go put the kettle on.

is that the one with the lady that has different colored hair everyday?

Kaiga
April 7th, 2005, 06:44 PM
no, thats the one the old Lady that has big Curly old people hair.
the one where people calling Mrs. Buckett, as in acctually reffering to a buckett you put water in. lol.
If you're talking about the younger skinnier Rose, then she sometimes changes her hair.
My favorite character in Keeping Up Appearances is Onslow, the big fat, beer drinking-all the time guy, who smacks his tv to turn it on, and makes lots of funny remarks.

Americans generally aren't stupid. Its just that the television producers think they are.

It still suprises me that Americans get British humour, though. When you look at something like Friends, the jokes are so obvious and stupid and you put like, even something like the Office and you see Americans who enjoy it and it's like 'How?'

Then, if you get a chance you should try 'a little bit of Fry and Laurie' three guesses who's in it.
