Cool...maybe Sega Will say something at E3. (if it's True)

Yeah, Sega said they were in the planning stages over a year ago and I posted it here when they said it and so far no news has been releasesd.

Lets just hope it is true.

Best news on the RPG front that I've heard in some time. Let's hope that they can keep all the good stuff that the first game had, at least...though, of course, further refining it would be even better.

I've been waiting for a sequel. I hope it's just as good or better than the first. Maybe improve the battlesytem a little. I would like to see Aika, Vyse, and Fina again.

You like to bring up old threads, don't 'ya?

Anyway, I recall looking at this thread and learning about it. And a while I ago I gave up thinking that there would be a sequel.

I've always thought a sequal to Skies of (Eternal) Arcadia would be a great idea. Though the moon crystals are already gotten, I'd be nice to see more relationship development between Vyse, Aika, and Fina, but that's just me. After watching the really cool ending of the original game, a potential for a sequal is certainly there. I'd be nice if Sega ever made this, the first game was so popular, and it deserves a sequal. ^_^

A SoA sequel? Oh, I hope so. ^_^ SoA is one of my all-time favorite RPG's.

February 9th, 2005, 12:11 PM
It would be the best possible gaming news since the first SoA, but it won't happen.

It was once only a possibility at best, now it isn't even that.

ryucross
February 9th, 2005, 12:37 PM
It won't happen because, quite simply, how can you top Skies of Arcadia? Unless they follow Final Fantasy and start creating new worlds, there won't be anymore Skies of Arcadia. Besides, I don't want a sequel. The game was about as perfect as they could have gotten it. Most every plot element they create is completed by the end of the game. Its about as complete a story in a single RPG I've ever seen. If they make a sequel, they have to undo some of that.

As much as I'm excited, I'm kinda stuck on the first game.

Usually when something is perfect people want more of it.

Jon
February 9th, 2005, 01:26 PM
SOA was a good game, up until the point where i couldnt find some stupid city that started with a Q, havent played it for almost a year.

Malon
February 9th, 2005, 01:57 PM
I would like you to know that there is no town or even place that's name starts with a "Q" in Skies of Arcadia.

There is one town that was hard to find that comes to mind. Does "Rixis" ring a bell?

ryucross
February 9th, 2005, 01:58 PM

Yes, then they complain endlessly when the followup isn't perfect because they had to change things for a sequel, or they complain endlessly because they didn't change anything and it plays just like the first. Overwerks is better off just letting it go. They hit the target dead on with the first game; I'd rather they come up with something else original and amazing than milk Arcadia for all its worth.

Lemina
February 9th, 2005, 02:21 PM
This game really ended perfectly, but it didn't end impossibly. Much has been said about the Silver Moon and it's people, but what about having a seventh moon, the Black Moon and Black Gigas. I thought Galcian was the last survivor of the Black Moon. Maybe a whole new quest about defeating the darker forces can start, hey I can use my imagination... ^_^

Yeah but we could play as Fina in her Blue Rogues outfit :D

...

And he means Rixis I think, the Q he is probably referring to is Quetya, the people of Rixis like named the silvites that when they came and saved them from the gigas and whatnot.

but I doubt it.

soa was a great game that will be sweet if a sequal comes out.

February 9th, 2005, 08:26 PM
I don't really see how they could make a sequel.... I mean, the story was pretty much done in the first game. Plus, I'd hate to see the name of such a good (and universally renowned) game be sullied with a subpar sequel. Not that it would necessarily be bad, but it's still a possibility that I wouldn't want to see.

Flounder_81
February 9th, 2005, 08:36 PM
If the sequel was going to suckand tarnish the name of the original, then yeah, I probably wouldn't want it to come out. If done right, I'd love to see it, though.

The thing that really won me over with SoA is the airship battles. Everything from equipping your ship with the latest firepower, to being able to cast protective/beneficial spells over the ship, to how you had to read ahead a little and plan your moves. The only other RPG I've played that's done something similar to this (or at least the only one I can think of) was Wild Arms 3. Anyone know of other RPG's that has something along these lines?

ryucross
February 9th, 2005, 08:59 PM
(pst, Sega. Get Overwerks and Sonic Team together, find Izuho Takeuchi (IPPO) and make a new single player Phantasy Star. Copy over some of SoA's airship battles into PS Starship battles.)

That was the worst part of the game I think. But overall it was a great experience.

When you beat the game in the ending cutscenes you are on the ship and Fina comes out dressed in her blue rogue suit and cupil comes out with his new setup too :P

That's possibly the best idea I've ever heard. It'll never happen, but it's still a great idea.

February 11th, 2005, 08:21 PM
It probably won't happen, since the original game didn't sell well (and Legends sold absolutely dismally...though I, of course, bought it). I think that Sega assumes there's a lack of interest, at this point. Their wrong, of course, but sales would indicate otherwise.

Regardless, I long for this game.

i don't think the DS would be powerful enough. But good concept.
SoA is one of my favorites.

Simmaria
June 8th, 2005, 06:44 PM
you could prob do it on DS, might not be anti aliased, maybe have to tone down a few things, but its doable in the hands of a capable developer.

Jon
June 8th, 2005, 06:46 PM
Yeah a DS Skies of Arcadia would be awesome. I'd buy a DS just for that alone.

DoomDragon22
June 9th, 2005, 06:37 AM

Jon

But skies of arcadia for Dreamcast looks alot better than those pictures, they'll have to tone it down a little bit.

DoomDragon22

evil ham-ham
June 9th, 2005, 05:41 PM
alright maybe they could do it but not until they learned how to squeeze a little more power out of the DS.

DoomDragon22
June 9th, 2005, 05:47 PM
which i the great geunius have!

DoomDragon22
June 10th, 2005, 07:35 AM
alright ill tell you guys how they could do it theres a cord that connects the ds and gba games together im not lying so all they would have to do is make something to fit in the gba slot to help the ds slot see it all makes sense

SoA wouldnt work on the DS.

One, what is the content size of a DS cart? They had to downgrade the music in SoA even for the GC release, I can only imagine what they'd have to cut out for a DS release.

Second, the DS has no where near the hardware capabilities.

Third, there will be no remake and there will be no sequel and thus this is all pointless.

So even if they were going to remake it again, which they aren't, they have to cut the graphics in half, probably cut the music in a fourth, probably cut out some sidequests and other various things. I don't want a downgrade.

If anything I would much prefer a sequel on the Revolution than a remake on the DS. Unfortunately it wont happen. It didn't sell well enough to warrant a sequel, unfortunately. Often the best games are simply overlooked and underappreciated. I see crap on a stick sell like amazingly well, and then the best (or at least one of the best) games created sells only moderately. :(

DoomDragon22
June 10th, 2005, 12:05 PM
no first the one for gamecube had nothing cut down only up and with my idea it would work

Actually, i own the version, and the Dreamcast version sounds so much better, but the gamecube loads it faster. The only way to have it on DS would if they released it with like multiple cartridges.

DoomDragon22
June 10th, 2005, 01:10 PM
hey multiple is fine but besdies the gamecube one is still better they out in more quests and stuff

ryucross
June 10th, 2005, 03:17 PM
"Multiple Cartridges"? Hell no, if they can't fit it on one cart, they won't release it. Simple as that.

DoomDragon22
June 12th, 2005, 09:41 AM
*sigh* not the brighest bulb on the christmas tree are we Nintendo has done multiple for some and the origianl did also

Jon
June 12th, 2005, 09:43 AM
Who cares. SOA will never come to the DS.

DoomDragon22
June 12th, 2005, 09:51 AM
thats most likely except if many people email sega if you guys get me

Mercenary
June 12th, 2005, 03:41 PM
Why do you care.
There is two versions already.
I am one of the largest SoA fans and yet I couldn't care less if they released it on another system, in fact I'd prefer not as I don't want a downgraded version.

DoomDragon22
June 13th, 2005, 12:19 PM
well they wouldnt have to downgrade it if they pit it on 4 dics (and by the way im getting a dreamcast to see if the music really was better)

RPGuru1331
June 13th, 2005, 12:48 PM
SoA on DS would be pimping almost as bad as Working Designs does with Lunar...

Eh, didn't want to make a new thread.

I just finished SoA. What a freakin great game!! I must say, I believe I like it better than Tales of Symphonia. Did anyone hear any updates on this thread? Is there going to be a second one??

OH, and I have a question- How do you find Piastol for the last time? I beat her 3 times, but I can't find her for the fourth. Do I have to have a certain ranking? Thanks!

Nope no ranking just have to do something really gay I saved over my cube one and have to start over but now looking over some of your guys discussions i see some good points and wood like to apologize for being stupid And dark your answer would be find moon chams and get them ALL annoying yes but fun too
