I went to Borders the other day and was planning to just get Eyesheild 21 volume 2 and go, but as per usual, nothing ever goes as planned. When I walked in, I accidently noticed a coupon for 20% off your purchase if you're a public servant on the check out counter. As my mom used to work at the police department and had her ID, I had to take advantage of the deal. Since they were all out of Eyeshield 21 2's, I left with:

Waldenbooks in the river mall in Eugene, OR had the biggest selection of manga I ever saw, with 2 whole sections (4 rows of shelves) dedicated to MANGA!! Although I admit they were heavily stocked with just about everything, with mutliple copues of each manga. And on top of all that, there is no sales tax in Oregon! :D

Finishing my Shounen Jump buying of the month, I just placed an order for Prince of Tennis volume 8.

Though it's not actually a purchase, I also got a free Viz sampler and Shoujo Beat sampler the other day, both of which only confirmed that I'd absolutely no interest in any of the stories they were sporting (Even if Midori no Hibi was kinda funny). Oh well, all they cost me was some time and, as two of the previews actually desuaded me from purchasing the titles indefinately, it more or less saved me some money ^_^

I was once again at Borders and I noted they had Tokyopop's August stuff in considerably early. However, after looking and looking, there was no trace of GetBackers 11 :crybaby: They did however have:

So I snatched it up without a second thought. I had no idea what I was getting myself into. At first I was surprised to see Sound effects subtitled in a Tokyopop book, until I realized that if they hadn't translated sound effects, then there would be next to nothing for them to translate -_-; It's definately a "graphic novel", telling its story almost entirely through pictures. I imagine if Texhnolyze was put on paper, it would be a lot like this. I think I'll "read" it again today, as it was really interesting. I have to say I really admire Tsutomu Nihei's skill to be able to pull something like this off. It's definately very different from anything I've ever read before, but I'd also say in a good way. I can't wait for volume 2 ^_^
