So far, I really, really like it ^_^ Goh and Taki's relationship is both adorable and sexy (as are they :wub: ), and the premise gives me a lot of GetBackers vibes, which is unquestionably a good thing. I'll definately be getting volume 2.

After rereading Legal Drug the other day and remembering why I liked the story so much, I officially allowed myself to fall victim to the temptation of a good deal by picking up:

xxxHolic Omnibus Edition (volumes 1-3, compiled into a single book, for around the same price as a single book, in case anyone didn't know)

I was honestly extremely shocked that I actually did like the story. I had read maybe half of the first volume a while back and didn't feel particularly compelled to read anymore, but I'm glad I went against my usually better judgement and gave it another chance. Admittedly, it did take over the equivilence of a volume and a half before I found myself getting into it much at all, but by the end of the book I found myself wanting to read more. The characters are surprisingly likeable (Yuko :wub: ), the story is fillertastic but consistently interesting, and some of the writing, particularly in the case of Yuko's script, is actually relatively insightful- intelligent even. Shocked and amazed, I certainly am. It's not going to turn me into any manner of CLAMP fan, mind you, as I wouldn't go so far as to call this story great or anything (good, most certainly, but not really great) and they've still made way more crap than they have... not crap, but it has made me an xxxHolic fan, so I'll be gladly picking up volume 4 at least as soon as I finish Yellow.

Goh and Taki manage to remain having the most sugary sweet adorable relationship I've seen in any manga this side of Love Mode's Reiji and Naoya. I'd say I wish I had gotten Yellow 4 instead of xxxHolic 4, as volume 3 was so very enjoyable, but I loved xxxHolic 4 too, so I'm still really happy with my purchase. Aside from being thuroughly entertaining, relatively intelligent, and my being totally gay for Yuko, this story is now, officially, sooooooo slashy. I swear, there were times I almost felt like I was reading Legal Drug. I'm certainly not going to complain though, as I probably would have become a DomekixWatanuki fan eventually even if they hadn't forced it upon me :P

A while back, I tried reading some scanslation online, just to see what it was, and I gave a couple pages in, because the art didnt look like something I was interested.

Shockingly enough, this story's not only well worth reading, but it gets progressively better with each volume- something I've yet to otherwise ever see from CLAMP. Of course, there's always the ever so likely chance that it'll end up disappointing me in the end, but, as it stands, I can't wait to get volumes 8 and 9 ^_^

While I had been planning to pick up GetBackers 18, Loveless 5, and two other books through that buy 3 get one free sale, I couldn't for the life of me find two other books worth getting. Thus, I just used a coupon to get:

Probably the weakest volume in the series since volume one. While I love Yuko dearly, the real charm of this series is in Watanuki's interactions with Himawari and Domeki- something this volume was severely lacking (although the segments that did contain either of those two were still highly enjoyable). I guess between the Zashiki-Warashi (the only reoccuring character who I really, really don't like) and the lackluster conclusion to what should have been the most interesting case Watanuki's faced thus far, I was just left disappointed. Hopefully volume 9 will be back up to the quality of other past volumes.

This was a great find, an original dominion comic volume 1 of 6. This thing is in MINT condition and was printed in 1989, thats almost 18 years old. Steal for what i got it for.

Tenchi in Tokyo RPG book, ebay picture as i forgot to take one. Not as good as the later Tenchi Muyo! RPG book as it doesn't have colour pictures nor is the paper great. I wonder if they done one for Universe, that's next on my list.

Now, this is my best purchase this month by far. Tenchi Muyo! Daughter of Darkness picture/art book. Bit raggy on the cover, i can live with that. But it's all original japanese, even has the pull out poster still intact AND a leaftlet for other Tenchi merchandise only available in Japan. Very rare in this country but the quality of this book is just wow, very colourful and crips prints and the extra drawings are very interesting even if i can't read Japanese.

Well, as the cheap, coupon obsessed person I am, I decided to dismiss the buy three Tokyopop books get one free sale at borders, and just use 30% coupons to pick up:

Loveless 5- Wow, this series really just gets better and better with every volume. It saddens me that some people just dismiss it as shouta or BL, because it just has so much more to it. Brilliant as always with a very interesting twist that I can't wait to see developed.

GetBackers 18- Easily the best of recent volumes for a number of reasons. I'm really glad to see the Divine Design thing wrapped up, as it wasn't really one of the more interesting arcs so far (largely do to it's lack of Akabane, who made a more than welcome return in this volume, however brief). More importantly, the hospital thing from the anime was in this volume (BEST.FILLER.EVER) and much to my surprise (but certainly not to my dismay) this had as many malexmale kisses in it as the fifth volume of loveless O_O I'm not a BanxGinji shipper at all, but Ginji's initial reaction and the way he was thinking about it later and brought it up all hot and bothered was priceless :3 I take back anything I ever said that may have implied that GetBackers wasn't that slashy (I actually still don't think it is all that slashy as a whole, but damn if it doesn't have its moments.) The best part of all, however, is the fact that it's back to a two month wait between volumes instead of three. Tokyopop speeding something up- Amazing ^_^

I considered taking advantage of the sale and getting the 19 and 20th volumes of SDK as well, but I realized I didn't want them that bad and 30% was a bigger discount. Ah, I get cheaper and cheaper everyday :P

I'd say it's probably about on par with the anime in terms of slashiness, perhaps a bit more so in a few places, although I personally didn't find the anime to be tremendously slashy in and of itself. I wouldn't say it's quite on the level of Naruto slashy, where I'd be sitting there reading it thinking "Man, Kishimoto-sensei is such an obvious SasuNaru shipper :3" But easily more slashy than, say, something like Prince of Tennis or even Eyeshield 21. The earlier volumes aren't nearly as slashy as some of the later ones though but if you were content with the coupling potential of the anime, than the manga shouldn't disappoint. Plus, it's got an infinite number of redeeming qualities otherwise, so I'd reccomend checking it out ^_^

I stopped by Borders on my way to picking up my copy of Pokemon the other day, and used a 30% off coupon to pick up Prince of Tennis 19. I was actually really glad they sort of just fast forwarded through the match againsts whatever those guys names were as they didn't seem particularly interesting, and getting to see both Nanjuro and Akira again was great ^_^ I'm really going to miss Tezuka though, I hope he shows up again soon...

Well, they finally got in some book my little sister special ordered at Borders, so I took her over there and picked up Yellow volume 4 to make the trip worth my while (after a coupon and $5 in Borders Bucks it only cost me about $4 :3). It's sad to see this series end, as I'm going to miss Taki anbd Goh's relationship. While I'm not much for the fui fui side of romance, I do, admittedly, love the idea of people falling in love with people rather than their genitallia, where the person attached is just the added bonus. Taki and Goh are one of the few couples I've seen that really have a relationship outside of their romantic one (something I find to be oddly rare outside of slash pairings), so it's nice to see a relationship based purely on enjoying the presence of the person rather than simply being physically attracted to the person and thus learning to tolerate their quirks in between the sex and sweet nothings. It was a satisfactory conclusion, even if I would have liked more time devoted to the more fun and carefree moments like their honeymoon. All in all, it was a great, highly enjoyable series ^_^

It starts off similar, but at a certain point, forks and the two stories are COMPLETELY different.

But both very good, imo. :D

Ha ha, yeah. My family never really had a lot money. There are 9 of us so we had difficulty managing. We did it, though! Now that I'm off on my own I'm starting to see some of the troubles my dad had. He's Hispanic and apparently that's a real big deal. I don't really look all that Hispanic, but my last name (Rodriguez) has already caused some frustration. Not only with jobs, but I'll often get some mail and it will be in Spanish. :lol:

I finally caved in and picked up Cantarella volume 1. I almost got My Heavenly Hockey Club instead (Ai Morinaga :wub: ), but I only had one coupon, and Cantarella won the game of eenie meenie minie mo (seriously -_-; ). I've been meaning to get it for a long time anyways though, and now I can finally say I own something Go!Comi :3 I only had time to read about half of it, but it's great so far. As long as nothing goes horribly wrong to make me hate it before the end of this volume, I plan to get the next couple volumes as soon as possible ^_^

I ended up picking it up earlier this morning ^_^ It was more shoujoy than I'm usually able to tolerate though and it lacked the extreme absurdity of the humor that graces my favorite Ai Morinaga series, but it was still worth reading even if just for a harem of Morinaga bishonen :wub: (and that bear- he made the volume for me :3) I would have liked to see at least a little bit of hockey though -_-; Regardless, it was good enough to compell me to continue the series, even if just in hopes of someone someday licensing Yamada Taro (which is still the funniest story I've ever read this side of Cromartie and High School Girls :P )

Well, I was in the area and had some coupons, so I decided to stop by Borders and pick up:

Cantarella vol. 2-3

While it was still a good read and I intend to pick up the next volumes sooner rather than later, I don't know if I really like the direction it seems to be going. By all means I should love Cesare's ruthlessness, but I find it hard to enjoy it when it's not really of his own will. Somehow, Cesare was much more enjoyable when his interactions with others were entirely his own. On top of that, Lucretia's character feels very tacked on, so her inevitable growing in importance isn't something I'm looking forward to. She seems to have little to do with any of the greater plot points, and I can't honestly see her storyline being able to hold and real interest against all of the current story lines. Not only that, but this increasingly apparent idea of a fate that can't be changed is an idea I've never liked. The everything is predetermined concept has always rubbed me the wrong way, so I really, really hope that idea's shattered sooner than later. All in all, it's still a good story, but I just hope it doesn't go where I think it's going.

On a side note, however, grown up Cesare is GORGEOUS

Yes, I loved the bear. I would love to see Yamada Taro licensed also, we'll have to keep our fingers crossed for that one! I am really looking forward to volume two, I think the comedy and maybe hockey will pick up alot more. :D

I hate the butchering TokyoPop did to the dialog, but if you dig your way through all that crap, the underlying storyline is pretty decent. I'm also a big fan of Yuji Shiozaki's artwork. I've read through volume 11 of the manga and I really like it. The new TV anime series is actualy following the manga much better than the piece of crap first TV series. Not only was the first Ikki Tousen series not following the manga, it was one of the worst anime series I've ever watched in history. It jumped around like the creators threw darts at the manga covers to decide what to throw into the anime.


Anyway I just bought Suzuka vol. 4 and Gacha Gacha: The Next Revolution vol. 3 today.

I finished reading Miki Falls and I liked it quite a bit. It has an interesting and suspenseful storyline.
