He must be shocked by the joy that Hikari is getting out of piloting the Evangelion.

This is a great picture and just proves that she should of been able to pilot an Evangelion in the series even if it was onlt once, like Toji.

That was an image used a few months ago on the main page of Gainax's website. It's a good one, though acknowledging Kensuke as a pilot is a crime. I much prefer the idea of him being the only one who never actually gets to be a pilot. xD

Maybe Kensuke is shocked by how much Asuka's personality has rubbed off on Hikari. (Just look at her facial expression.)

Maybe Kensuke is shocked by how much more angelic butt Hikari is kicking than he and Touji are. (I don't really know what's happening; I'm guessing.)

You can call her "EVA-03", you know. And, technically, she's dark blue, not black.

So Hikari's piloting one of the harpies? Poor dear... Just because no one's posted this yet, here's a related image I had lying around, though I have no clue about the original source:

Maybe the EVA-05 she's piloting has an onsen penguin head instead of the typical MP mug. Talk about your strange visual concepts... p'raps I should draw it.

Also, based on the copyright notice on the "Gainax group" pic, I'd say it WASN'T originally from the Gainax homepage.

I'm painfully racist in favor of my own kind (FYI I don't consider skin color to cause divergance of race) and any Evangelion that turns into an angel and beat the hell out of everyone gets called by its color by me personally. :)

Doesn't change the fact that EVA-03 is technically dark blue. :P

And she never "turned into" an angel, her body tissue was invaded by Bardiel, who presumably controlled her body via the nervous system and entry plug. But that's bogging you down in technicalities you probably aren't interested in.

I'm interested, but it just won't change my overall assesment, because I'm illogical sometimes ;) It looks quite black to me, maybe I'm color-blind, but if not I'm fairly sure it is black. Even though it was invaded by an angel, it still beat the crap out of everbody in a horific way... and it's ultimate fate that followed afterward doesn't actually make it any better, but all the more horrifying... good memories...

I have no idea of teh pic you posted but Im guessing its from that doujin I just translated.

Anyone find it strange that hikaris plug suit looks exactly like asukas and that shes labeled as the 5th? I don't know why but I also expected hikaris plug suit to be green. Plus her plug seems to be designed like shinjis and before this shinji is the only one with a plug that has the metal brace or whatever around the torso.

Cool pic though. Hikari in her custom "Lyrical tatse" Harpie ^_^

'Tis a shame that there's not much room for fanfictionly maneuvering in the NGE world. The idea of that trio being the pilots for Evangelions 03 through 05 would be something that I could feel quite motivated to write about if there was any way that the premise wouldn't just fall flat on it's face from the word go.

Methinks that with the magic of the "Alternate Universe" fic you can do pretty much anything you want in Eva fiction...it just depends on how much verbal abuse you're willing to take from purists, heh heh.

Would purists bother reading such things in the first place?

I can see it already -- three additional Angels attack, each representing a trial for our three new pilots. For Toji, the Angel bears an uncanny resemblance to an enormous obento. For Kensuke, an exact replica of an antique piece of aircraft. Hikari... err... a giant, naked Toji?

Well, that's what I mean, y'see. No point at all going beyond the 19 angels, right? No, that's not a typo. If she thinks hard enough, Rachel knows what I mean. ;)

If I were going to write this thing, I'd have Toji join much sooner - just after Asuka did, and basically ret-con everything from there onwards. Just wipe out the series, and rewrite chunks of it. I'd need to stretch out the times between angel attacks, and include more side-plots. Toji and Hikari would get the bulk of the 'screen-time', and Kensuke... well, I have a theory about how to work his sub-plot, that I've actually been toying with for some time, now.... Oh, nuts! Now I'm actually considering this. Stop me... please! :crybaby:

You should at least try to finish your "Thesis" first, if you follow my meaning... :Sigh: Another project that has a life of it's own... I have far too many ideas for that, so it's a process of relentless self-editing, since a lot of them prove somewhat impractical. I may do a rough-cut first and then refine it later. I'll share something with the world in about two weeks time, I say, as I shall regret saying later. :)

You know they would, just so they could complain more eloquently about it...heck even at the "Shmups" forum I visit stuff like this happens. "Hardcore" players who brag about "never going near" certain games/practices/etc. will ALWAYS invade a related thread made by others just to bust their chops about it...

It's all a matter of how much you're able to shut 'em out, heh...at least when they're just being jerks, rather than actually attempting to offer honest advice.

Yeah. She's usually part of the background, doing useful class rep things to help the plot along, or is switfly paired up with Touji and vanishes. The one Pilot Horaki fic I remember has her in black, in Touji's place as the 4th.

Sounds like fun... Incidentally, I've had something reccomended to me that sounds fun, recently. Not strictly an anime, but still a 'toon, have either of you two heard of Megas XLR? It sounds daft, but fun. Hardly worthy entertainment, but I had a good giggle at the concept... Depending on how much silliness you need in your life (and I know that for Reichu, she's probably suffering from a surplus, since I showed up round these parts! ^_^) you might want to check out the Cartoon Network's (http://www.cartoonnetwork.com/tv_shows/megasxlr/) site.

Heh heh, you bet I've seen it...it's incredibly stupid, but also very funny, if you're willing to get into that mindset for a half hour (or, in my case, just kind of stay in it :D). For one thing, there are lots of jokes about New Jersey, which makes the show even better for me, since I live there...I just can't help but like the idea that a giant robot's pilot would fight a gigantic alien invader, not for any noble purpose whatsoever, but because the alien has, through a cruel twist of fate, managed to destroy every Slurpee machine for miles around as it completes its conquest. And then, after it destroys yet another one, to have the following philosophical conversation among the two pseudo-heroes...

"The last Slurpee machine...this is unforgivable!"
"Y'know, Coop, they have a Slurpee machine in Hoboken, we could always go there."
"Yeah, but it's Hoboken!"

Shameful as it is, I was sold from there. :D

"Y'know, Coop, they have a Slurpee machine in Hoboken, we could always go there."
"Yeah, but it's Hoboken!"

Shameful as it is, I was sold from there. :D
Yeah, it adds a touch of spice, I expect. I vaguely am aware that there is a place called Hoboken in NJ, but since it is well over 3000 miles from the chair in which I type this, I can't say as I have any idea why Hoboken would be the butt of this kind of humour, any more than I expect the average American can understand jokes like,

"So, you've got a boyfriend, and he's studying in Hell.
"Hull!"
"Whatever."

Hull being a place name, of course. It's the same joke, but they don't travel well is what I'm pointing out, much as you have already realised.

I wouldn't so much say "outdo" as "approach the subject matter from the sort of angle even Reichu knows better than to comprehend". :P Or, rather, "really weird" in a 'bad' way, as opposed to the Reichu way -- however one choses to characterize that. :naughty:

I must be slow today. Y'all can blame Reichu, since the sort of viewing material that she has a tendancy to recommend has the same sort of effect on my brain as Rei/Lileth as on people during 3I. In other words, I laughed so hard that my brain turned into a vaguely tang-esque substance, and dribbled out of my ears. With that in mind, forgive me for my denseness, but what the Netherworld is an Anti-Drug?

EDIT: On the plus-side, I at least know now the meaning of Reichu's location field. The phrase "Galactic Prophylactic" calls up some not-entirely pleasant imagery, in the absence of it's original source.

It is a marketing device on commercals(using that same font) used to get teens in this country away from drugs, and showing them the "anti-drug", or alternatives to taking said drug. Ex: Talk:The Anti-Drug. There are staggering amount of anti drug and alchoal commericals(not that the're bad, but...), some we have to see in school every morning on "Channel 1 News", which basicly puts out a rehash of the night-before news. One such commerical is a girl going about her day, with creepy music, seeing images of her grandmother flash all around her, and at the end, you see the girl stealing money out of her grandma's purse, for weed. Cue the creepy voice"You'll never forget the people you hurt when you were high." Regret: the Anti-Drug Anyway, don't feel bad about not knowing. :p (I'm sarting to forget this is the "Go Hikari" thread. )^ About that sig, shouldn't Rei be replaced with an Eva. Thanx for the Anti-Drug Explanation, Magami. I'm no longer suprised that I didn't know, since I no longer watch broadcast TV, and even if I did, that would appear to be an American thing. Commercials, pfft! If kids wanna take drugs they will, no matter how much they know it's a bad idea.

About my .sig: I don't make these things up, you know! All that part which lies inside the quote marks is a direct quote from Ms. Reichu herself. Twisted, and ripped from the context of its original utterance though for comedic effect though it may be. I think that I can say with utter certainty that the concept of 'next' doujinshi is a foreign one to Reichu, as the project that she currently is engaged in will no doubt take some considerable time to finish still. Have you been exposed to the delightfull mysteries of the project formerely known as "Holy Shito!" and which now enjoys the less amusing but more 'arty' title of Beyond Eden's Shores? I'm sure that if you were but to ask, Rachel would be delighted to point you towards the various preliminary works that she's put together. I have to say, it's worth a few hours of your life, although... I seem to recall that she made an 'executive decision' not to include Tabris in Eden, so I am sorry to tell you that should you choose to commit a few hours of your life to reading the rather significant textual output of our favourite Pokemon namesake on this matter, then it's a foregone conclusion that they will be devoid of not only the the pure Bishie-ness of his human form that is Kaworu, but even of his angelic aspect, Tabris. I imagine that will come as something of a disincentive for you, but you could always mount a major letter-writing campaign on behalf of Tabris. Results will be hard to predict, of course.

I'm sure she won't mind if I offer this, in the interim period until she next posts. Try here (http://www.avians.net/rkc/fan/rkc_holyshito!.html) first -- it's somewhat outdated, but it forms the fundamental outline of the story. It's deeply fascinating stuff, I assure you. Darn near manages to inspire me to write something, just by the sheer scope and audacity of the project. You have to respect that. Of course, if I ever find enough free time to start on that mega-fanfic that I'm sort of planning, you forum minions are all in trouble. BWAH-HAH-HAH-HAH-HAR! GYAH-HAR-HAR!

Y'know, this came up in a recent discussion elsewhere. Whatever Reichu (or anyone else for that matter) might have planned in the bedroom for the sexy miss probably-Lileth, Yui, Kyoko, Mrs. Suzuhara, et al,, leaving aside a rather... interesting... sugestion that was made, the human end of the pairing would be basically scuppered by the question of scale. I can feel their pain right now, the poor guy/gal. In fact, I feel that a moment of this level of tragedy calls for some heart-wrenching musicall accompaniment from the cheezy-oldies end of the pop spectrum.

:sings: "Everyone knows that your my favourite girl, There's just some things in life that are not meant to be, I'm not meant for you, and you're not meant for me." :stops singing cheesy song:

OH! The tragedy of those who are in love with an Eva! I foresee a lot of heartbreak in a relationship like that. Huge amounts of counseling would be required to overcome that sort of bedroom incompatibility I expect. Of course, there is always the Gendou angle - Simply plan to live inside her core for all eternity. But we all know that too much closeness can become stifling, and lead to violent decapition with teeth. :waggles finger: I hope you've all learned a valuable lesson. Nahh, your safe, he's human in body at least. Thing is, the problem wouldn't be the same as the one with the Evas anyway. There could be other, more subtle differences, but the fact that he was planning to go to bed with Shinji means that there would probably be compatibility. I don't recall if we saw a waist-up frontal nude of Kaoru, but I suspect that Shinji might have remarked upon it if he'd got a prominent core.

Shame really, if Reichu's speculations regarding that organ are to be believed, and I see no reason why not, then it could only possibly have added more spice to the proceedings for any willing partner.

That's a great term you've invented! Very descriptive. I love it, that's a great phrase. I think Barb/Naoko and the harpies (with each other :barf: ) are the only lesbian going-ons in the whole thing. Not counting some, ahem, "close calls". Then, I guess it only takes two naked Evas snuggling together to make some people squirm.

Heh heh, that was the idea. I think I made it up back in the silliness of "Holy Shito!", when Sachiel was notorious for "nuking off" with thoughts of Yui dancing in his mind. Wonder what other colorful metaphors could be made for the act? Polishing the marble? Shining the pearl? Playing ball?

It's not like he ever got it on with his beloved Shinji...

Well, that has been more than vindicated by the piles and piles of Kaworu/Shinji doujin out there! "...we will be immortalized in yaoi for this one night."

The way I understand it, in Eden, the various people (Shito, Eva, others...) don't have to look the same way they did on Earth...? Or have I got that completely wrong?

Hmm, what brings this up? The only difference is that the 'scale issue' is resolved; there are no totally wild differences in size as there were on Earth. An Angel might get twice as big as an Eva, but that's it.

And Magami, I believe the reason for Kaworu's androgyny in Eoe is much the same reason why Rei herself lacks pubic definition. I.e., "we can't show that."

All too true. There is a predjudice, an inequality still about such things. The Anime industry is all too happy to show bare breasts, and even other, naughtier bits, as long as they are on female characters, but you pitch them a concept which involves fanservice for the viewer who is oriented towards males, and it would seem, from the output of the larger distributors at least, that there is significant resistance to the concept.

Aww.... Thanks. That's just not something I hear every day. Usuually when people use that sort of sentance in reference to The Biscuity One, they replace the word, 'nice' with either 'weird', or if they are really kind, 'strange but nice.

You've just been added to a list of 4 ladies in the whole world who think I'm 'nice', and that includes my mom!

Err... justaminute.... what were you going to accuse me of if I wasn't nice? Of liking guys or something. If it was that, I'm sure I don't mind. My perspective is that even the 'straightest' person is no more than 65-75% oriented towards the opposite sex, and that still leaves a whole 25% or more of themself which is aroused by their own gender, but would rather not admit it. I tend to think that the closer you are to the 50/50 mark, the better adjusted you are. Not in the sense of actually doing anything about it, just in admitting to yourself that there are more things in this world that can be sexy and beautiful than (choose-your-stereotype here) the average busty blonde bimbo, or tanned, buffed macho muscle-brain guy.

In the same way, I think that the sort of people who look for these sorts of characteristics, or other obvious and stereotypical characteristics are actually compensating for the fact that they aren't really sure in themselves of what they want - they rely on society to tell them what is sexy.

Now, me, I can look at someone who is not 'conventionally' sexy or attractive, by the standards of the society in which I live, and see their real beauty, because I'm secure enough to know what I want. Beauty from the inside first and foremost, and a physical aspect which is loveable and cute rather than being some kind of playboy centerfold. I mean, did you look at the sort of girls the media wants me to chase? They frankly don't interest me at all. I want a human being with flaws to complement the flaws that exist in me.

Errr, I think I got carried away with that topic. Ignore me.

Heh. I'd guess that it kinda depends on who's chest we're discussing. I'm not going to be counting on mine to get anyone hot under the collar any time soon. Not unless I start doing more push-ups. <_<

I bet Kaworu killed it.

And speaking of old man Keel... I wonder if there should be anything in Adam's flashbacks about unpleasant (or pleasant, depending on whom you ask o_O ) going-ons between Kaworu and his Master. I would be really, really scared if there was a Kaworu/Keel version of that sick Gendo/Rei 1 H-doujin in "Paradise Lost 2". "Oh, Tabris, it's time for your Bratwurst..."
After seeing some sort of Rei H-doujin, not but an hour ago, I have a feeling that this must be even more disturbing for Adam than I thought.(those doujinshi were disturbing, in a disgusting way....I was misinformed before looking at them!) :|

Male characters are rarely the victims of fan service, but it can happen... There is just little financial incentive to do so, except for anime that are targeted specifically at females. And, overall, there seems to be greater demand for beautiful, even androgynous, men, as opposed to a treatment that emphasizes "masculine" qualities. (Though I suppose there is plenty of room for both.)

Even just the chest can be good enough for most girls.(Saiyuki pic....Sanzou)

No bulging packages for you?

Aww.... Thanks. That's just not something I hear every day. Usuually when people use that sort of sentance in reference to The Biscuity One, they replace the word, 'nice' with either 'weird', or if they are really kind, 'strange but nice.

Hmm, that about sums it up for my reputation, as well.

My perspective is that even the 'straightest' person is no more than 65-75% oriented towards the opposite sex, and that still leaves a whole 25% or more of themself which is aroused by their own gender, but would rather not admit it.

Heh heh, reminds me of this (http://www.uno.edu/~asoble/pages/masturb.htm) intriguing essay:

Masturbation mocks, even "deconstructs," the categories and concepts of both our everyday (ordinary) and technical (scientific) sexual discourses. Masturbation, like sex that can occur in a good marriage or with an admired and intimate lover, is sex with someone I care about and to whose satisfaction and welfare I am devoted. Masturbation is incestuous, since it happens with someone to whom I am blood-related, someone within my own family. If I am married, my masturbating is adulterous, since it is sex with someone who is not my spouse, to whom I am not married. Masturbation is homosexual: a man sexually pleases a man or a woman sexually pleases a woman.

This amused me quite a bit, since I'd been throwing around a similar argument, for kicks if nothing else.

In the same way, I think that the sort of people who look for these sorts of characteristics, or other obvious and stereotypical characteristics are actually compensating for the fact that they aren't really sure in themselves of what they want - they rely on society to tell them what is sexy.

Or maybe they are "beautiful people" themselves and won't settle for anything "less".

One thing I've noticed -- 'society' seems to be much more flexible about what can be considered sexy in men than in women. I.e., men are permitted to show a much greater degree of variation and 'imperfection', whereas women are held to stringent requirements. Sigh, I hate the double standard.

Errr, I think I got carried away with that topic. Ignore me.

So, who was the intended audience for most of that? :naughty:

Uhuh. Girls are often said to be less 'visually aroused' than guys, and I've heard enough from various acquaintances of mine to believe it.

You should see my sketchbooks... :cough: Then, they don't really seem to confirm much aside from the fact that I am a weirdo pervert, but, as I always say, "Tis better to draw weird and perverted things than actually do them."

Ahh. I am wrong then. I thought that the various eden inhabitants weren't bound to their earthly shape.

Well, there are a couple of times an explained phenomenon turns everybody into members of Homo sapiens (and all completely naked for the entire duration). Aside from that, I'm not sure where you might have gotten that impression.

I had assumed that Kaworu/Tabris might look very different in Eden. Ie, with a core, for copious 'nuking off', and fanservice for Magami! :-P

Well, he is Adam once again, so pearl-polishing would not be beyond her ability. :P On a pointless aside, Adam never actually appears in Eden; we meet her (and Lilith) somewhere else.

And as for Kaworu "nuking off", I sketched a wittle pic of Kaworu, uh, trying to do that in a harpy costume(sorry Treize X ^^), useing a small SoL.

"Nuking off" is just stimulating the surface of the core, and somewhat less lethal than what the harpies do. As for that, I'm not sure what an appropriate slang would be... Kernfick, maybe?

BTW, that pic sounds cute. Make sure we get to see it sometime. :D

Heh heh, reminds me of this (http://www.uno.edu/~asoble/pages/masturb.htm) intriguing essay: Egads! I can appreciate the points that are being made, but in order for most of the issues that are mentioned to actually trouble your psyche, you'd have to be more twisted than a corkscrew. The homosexual aspect of masturbation is not one which most people think about, but that is one that I can see the truth of. The other statement that rings true is of course simply an academic redux of Woody Allen's famous statement...

Masturbation is sex with someone I love and respect.
This amused me quite a bit, since I'd been throwing around a similar argument, for kicks if nothing else.
Although most of the things I've said about love, respect and sex in this thread are my own long-term deeply-held beliefs, I will admit to having stolen some of those thoughts from The Raptorian Sector. Not so much that I'm echoing your views, more that having read them, they expressed my own more clearly than I had ever been able.

Or maybe they are "beautiful people" themselves and won't settle for anything "less". Remind me to tell you some time about a few of the most 'beautiful' (in the standard way) girls I know. They're mostly airheads, or Asuka-types, and as such, intrinsically ugly to me. Beauty is from the inside, and someone's face and body can only ever be the (very pleasant) icing, on an already delicious cake of personality. No matter how much icing you put onto a cake that is made of something nasty, like roading tar, I won't be taking a slice. The sad part is that so many men seem to be queueing up to do so.

One thing I've noticed -- 'society' seems to be much more flexible about what can be considered sexy in men than in women. I.e., men are permitted to show a much greater degree of variation and 'imperfection', whereas women are held to stringent requirements. Sigh, I hate the double standard. Meh. Not all men have that standard in their minds. There's something beautiful about any woman with a good personality. I'll take the good personality over the good face/body any day of the week. It's the only one of the 3 that I can be confident will be the same in 60 years time. There's a certain schadenfreude to be had from the knowledge that those who have little going for them other than their looks will eventually lose even that. Imagine Asuka as an old woman. No more teasing Shinji with that body!
So, how was the intended audience for most of that? :naughty:
Did you mean 'who'? Either way.... :shifty:

Whatever could you mean? -_-;

You should see my sketchbooks... :cough: Then, they don't really seem to confirm much aside from the fact that I am a weirdo pervert, but, as I always say, "Tis better to draw weird and perverted things than actually do them."

Well, there are a couple of times an explained phenomenon turns everybody into members of Homo sapiens (and all completely naked for the entire duration). Aside from that, I'm not sure where you might have gotten that impression.

Probably I got you mixed up with another fanfic or crazy story of some variety. I've been reading a few, in preparation for starting my own insane project. Mind you, I wouldn't hold your breath, unless you want your skin color to match your eyes. ^_^

The angels being able to take on other shapes is something I'm sure I've seen in some fanfic story or other, and I guess it just got mixed in in my brain, because of that business about the Shifts that you mentioned.

Does this dissapoint you? I was under the impression that a lot of women love the androgynous look on a man. Perhaps you were merely observing, rather than complaining.

Observing. I was never too swept up by the bishounen phenomenon, but that probably is just an extention of my ambivalence towards physical appearance in general. I am as a general rule attracted by personality traits, not physical ones. The bishounen characters I do like, I like because of their character and not their appearance. Androgyny is an interesting concept for me, but not when it becomes a stereotype (a la the pretty boys of anime).

I figured as much. Well, you can put a verdict of "Nice, and definitely no weirder than me!" down on this list from The Biscuit.

Y'know, this is something females (in my experience anyways) love to do: they go on and on about how guys are utterly unable to live up to their hopes and expectations of them (i.e. being able to appreciate a gal for her inner self instead of her appearance, among other things), and then when they find one who appears to do those things (or says he does), immediately determine that he must be lying and/or faking it, and take great pleasure in "exposing his true nature," or trying their hardest to do so, at any rate. Few women I've met seem willing to abandon the view of males that declares "they're utterly hopeless without women there to 'fix' them"...

Well, it's always nice if the woman in question looks as good on the outside as you know she is on the inside, but it has been noted that I have a somewhat wide 'strike zone' in any case. Even when it boils down to pure physical attractiveness, I'm not looking for a supermodel, just someone with nice eyes and a nice smile. By my own personal judgement, there are a lot of women out there who are a lot more attractive than they think they are. So many women underestimate their own beauty. It's quite sad really. Especially when there are an equally large group who OVERestimate their own beauty. I'm sure we all knew that type in school.

I totally agree with the sentiment, StuffThing, in the case of the vast majority of the female population, but then again, it'd probably be a huge mistake to assume that one can consider Reichu and the larger female population to be an homogenous group, in as far as their attitudes on such things. The point I'm making is that in as much as you are essentially correct, I'll lay fairly good odds that Reichu was only jesting with me. I don't think she doubts my own views on this matter. It's not like this is the first time I've expressed them on the forums.

All that said, it's depressing how often it is true that this attitude can be found in women that you meet. On the other hand, the sort of attitude that Reichu discusses is fairly common in guys.

Yeah, personality is important, and stuff. I gotta love a girl for who she is on the inside... as long as she's got a huge rack and her @$$ is perfect!

...So it's hardly surprising. It is, in some ways, a self-perpetuating cycle. Men live up to the worst expectations of women partly because they are aware of those expectations, which make it difficult to be a genuinely nice guy. The lack of genuine nice guys reinforces the believe that all men are bar-stewards, and so on, ad infinitum, ad nauseam, ad absurdium

May the Deity of your choice bless America and the rest of Western culture, y'know?

I also must agree sans hesitation with what you say about there being much room for improvement on the male side of things...methinks that "we" are just as bad when it comes to surrendering to the "crude, beer-drinking, sex-obsessed, etc." stereotype as "they" often are to the "ditzy, spendthrift, scantily-clad, etc." stereotype...perhaps Reichu's onto something with the whole "androgeny" deal, I'm always up for less complication in general...I'm sure grayish genderless blobs tend to have a few less things to worry about on a regular basis (as opposed to, say, "Should I use red or pink pseudopod polish with this outift?").

Y'know, this is something females (in my experience anyways) love to do: <snip>

Well, considering some of the ways in which men have treated and regarded women in the past (and continuing in some parts of the world today), don't we have right to be suspicious? "How you can trust him? He's a member of a gender that has kept women down for millennia! All men are our enemies!! Always have been, always will be!! There ARE no 'nice guys'!"

Few women I've met seem willing to abandon the view of males that declares "they're utterly hopeless without women there to 'fix' them"...

 Personally, I find that most of the declarations battered back and forth between the sexes end up being shallow stereotypes upon closer inspection. I suspect that a lot of these modern myths only gain "substance" because some people believe in them to the point that they -make- them 'true'. But, like Incisivis once said (paraphrased), "Men are not from Mars, women are not from Venus, they're both from Earth."

they go on and on about how guys are utterly unable to live up to their hopes and expectations of them (i.e. being able to appreciate a gal for her inner self instead of her appearance, among other things), and then when they find one who appears to do those things (or says he does), immediately determine that he must be lying and/or faking it, and take great pleasure in "exposing his true nature," or trying their hardest to do so, at any rate.

Vindication for millennia of oppression! :P

By my own personal judgement, there are a lot of women out there who are a lot more attractive than they think they are.

Well, how is one supposed to know how "attractive" she is? Are you attractive if your mother tells you how beautiful you are? If a couple of guys say so? If you sleep with the entire school football team? If you are a super-model? If you're a celebrity who gets into People's Top Twenty Most Beautiful People?

I think whenever I tried telling you that YOU were a 'good guy', YOU would come up with reasons for why it wasn't true. (Or maybe I'm thinking of something else.) Gee, I wonder who that reminds me of... Oh, yeah, everyone I ever met! Very few people are comfortable with taking compliments.
Well, how is one supposed to know how "attractive" she is? Are you attractive if your mother tells you how beautiful you are? If a couple of guys say so? If you sleep with the entire school football team? If you are a super-model? If you're a celebrity who gets into People's Top Twenty Most Beautiful People?Point taken. I just find it odd that so many women who are perfectly nice looking have such low self-esteem, and raging anxiety about their looks.

Replace Shinji with Reichu (http://evamonkey.com/reichu/misc/shinji's-great-rampage_001e.jpg). I hope that doesn't happen every time you run out of sketchbooks, or the poor folk in your local art-supplies store will be somewhat surprised. :p

Only Eva-on-Eva, please I don't mind two girls at it, but I draw the line at interspecies pr0n.

Their attitudes on just about EVERYTHING, actually. :P I am the anti-female. So female, and yet not.

Now that's hardly being fair on yourself. Read what I said, and think about it some more. You're not the anti-female, by any means. However, if we assign a name to society's traditional peception of a woman, oh, I don't know, let's call her 'Malibu Stacy', in honour of the Simpsons, then I think it might be fairer to say that you're the anti-Malibu Stacy. Calling yourself the anti-female is just throwing out all the good things associated with that label, along with the bad.
Short of being greyish blobs, we can all strive for psychological androgyny -- the next evolution of humankind! Personally, I'd go for that. It preserves all the fun aspects of the purely physical differences between the genders, and removes all of the unimportant differences.
Whenever you're not being paranoid, anyway. ;)
Hey, paranoia is what I do best, OK? Besides, do you have empirical evidence that they aren't really all out to get me? ;)

Well, remember, he isn't just a transvestite -- he's an executive transvestite! I love that bit, was that in D2K or circle? I'm sure it's in one or the other... He is the single funniest man on the planet for me....

Heh heh, I was wondering how long it'd take you to find this and mete out retribution...

Hey, come on. It's hard to do multi-message responses on the damned Macs in the computer labs. When I'm on my own computer, on the other hand...

I guess that particular attitude (or, as in your case, a non-serious reference to it) is just one of my "buttons,"

:wonders what the others are:

Good ARTIST, yes...and that one I'm not budging an inch on. :P Come to think of it, couldn't one define this as you trying to "fix" me, though more or less in the completely opposite direction that a stereotypical female might do? ;)

Not so much "fixing" as "giving a little push in the right direction"... ;)

I could have sworn I complemented your overall character on more than one occasion... Ah, well, for the record, you ARE a genuine nice guy, albeit a rather fuzzy one. :P :starts singing "Sensitive New-Age Guy":

Hey, when I said I was pro-blob, I meant it. Seriously, think of how much simpler things would be if the physical was really not even an issue for anyone...in my case, as long as I could mold an appendage around a controller, I'd be all set.

It would make DDR somewhat more challenging...

Very few people are comfortable with taking compliments.

Whereas others cannot get enough of them... But I wonder what the psychological basis for this might be?

I just find it odd that so many women who are perfectly nice looking have such low self-esteem, and raging anxiety about their looks.

Well, considering the 'perfect' faces and bodies that proliferate the media -- and porno mags -- there is an awful lot of subliminal pressure on women, you know? For my part, I'm happy with the aspects I'm stuck with, although I certainly could do a lot to improve my Lilith-like physique. (The fact that my diet has degenerated quite a bit from living on-campus probably doesn't help matters... Argh.)

I hope that doesn't happen every time you run out of sketchbooks, or the poor folk in your local art-supplies store will be somewhat surprised. :p

When that happens, there are always random scraps of paper I can violate.

Only Eva-on-Eva, please I don't mind two girls at it, but I draw the line at interspecies pr0n.

How is Yui/Zeruel interspecies? :P

Calling yourself the anti-female is just throwing out all the good things associated with that label, along with the bad.

Aside from "T&A", what "good things" are associated with "female"? :shifty:

Personally, I'd go for that. It preserves all the fun aspects of the purely physical differences between the genders, and removes all of the unimportant differences.

Well, if given divine power over the universe, I would get rid of the more annoying physical differences...

Besides, do you have empirical evidence that they aren't really all out to get me?

You seem to be having a love affair with this "empirical evidence" business. ;)

Actually, yeah, you're right, they really are derived from the same genetic stock - I was just going for the cheap gag as usual.
Aside from "T&A", what "good things" are associated with "female"? :shifty: I think you're looking at my comment in the wrong light. I just mean that it is possible to take the concept of 'female' and reclaim it, molding it into something you are proud to be. Discard the aspects that you find distastefull and hold onto your fundamental pride in being what you are. I don't quite know where you got the T&A part from... although unless one is viewing it from a negative, exploitative point of view, those aspects of a woman's physical being aren't negative at least, in my entirely irrelevant view.

I'm still proud to be a man, even though I'm not proud of some of the bottom-feeding lowlife that shares that title with me. I just try to redefine 'man' as something positive, by my own example.

Well, if given divine power over the universe, I would get rid of the more annoying physical differences...

:nods: I suspect I follow your meaning. I don't expect there are many women who would not make that change, if I've comprehended you properly.
On the other hand, don't go toofar, if you're ever given diving power over the universe. Sorry to dissapoint you, but I'm still stereotypical enough to enjoy at least some of the differences between the genders. Theoretically, at least, and only within the context of a loving relationship. :sigh:

You seem to be having a love affair with this "empirical evidence" business. ;)

Yeah, I noticed. My brain's caught in a bit of a loop. I need de-bugging, probably. Or maybe the latest service pack. Only problem is the engineer call-out charge is too much for me right now. So I'll just smack myself on the head, and hope that fixes the problem.

Dress to Kill, as I haven't seen this 'circle' you speak of.
It's good. As an extra feature, you can see him do a show entirely in French. Which he almost speaks... ;) Put this way, I'm joking, but his french is about as good as your Nihon-go. Which would make a relationship sort of incestuous... "Incest! Bestiality! Incestuous bestiality!"

I think you're looking at my comment in the wrong light.

Either that, or I was just being stupid, or unnecessarily cynical... ;)

I just mean that it is possible to take the concept of 'female' and reclaim it, molding it into something you are proud to be. Discard the aspects that you find distastefull and hold onto your fundamental pride in being what you are.

Well, like Incisivis has said in the past, there is no real point in taking "pride" in what you are given, only in what you have earned. "Pride" seems the wrong word, as 'pride' is generally a negative thing (one of the seven deadly sin!); but I think I know what you're referring to. I generally embrace the fact that I am female (well... except for the parts I don't like... but not much I can do about those), but I also see it as a purely biological distinction. Any of the other 'positive' traits associated with "female" (like being sensitive, and nurturing, and empathic, and stuff) are hardly exclusive to one gender.

I don't quite know where you got the T&A part from... although unless one is viewing it from a negative, exploitative point of view

It's good. As an extra feature, you can see him do a show entirely in French.

Oh... In that case, I -have- seen it. There was a lot of shared material between the two shows, so he might have thrown the "executive transvestite" bit at the Frenchies, as well. (Rachel needs to get the 'Dress to Kill' DVD...)

Put this way, I'm joking, but his french is about as good as your Nihon-go. You fancy doing a stand-up comedy show entirely in Japanese to an entirely native audience? He's got guts, I'll give him that...

I would say his French is comparatively much, much better. I wouldn't even be able to carry on a conversation with a Japanese person for a minute.

Those Evas in that fanart look like freaks cosplaying.

Yeah... Seeing the armor pieces "emote" is definitely stomach-churning, to say the least. Reminds me of "Heavy Metal"-caliber illustrations of women getting it on with robots. :crybaby: So wrong!! "Earth women who experience sexual ecstasy with mechanical assistance always tend to feel guilty!"

My good man, I'm afraid that I WILL have to steal that for a sig. :D

SUVs, partisan politics, Adam Sandler (I think you actually caught me in a Sandler-inspired rant once)...my weirdest one (though not quite as important to me as the others) would have to be people who never saw the "Got Milk?" commercial with the Trix rabbit in it. I once ranted for a good 20 minutes or so to 2 friends of mine about that...it's one of the great cultural touchstones of the 20th century, and so many have been deprived of it! Unforgivable!

Not so much "fixing" as "giving a little push in the right direction"... ;)
...actually, you can add "sneaky euphemisms" to the above list. :P ;)

I could have sworn I complemented your overall character on more than one occasion... Ah, well, for the record, you ARE a genuine nice guy, albeit a rather fuzzy one. :P :starts singing "Sensitive New-Age Guy":
Heh, well, thanks for the compliment. Though perhaps I should have held off on that until i hear this "New Age Guy" song you're talking about, heh...though, offhand, you'd probably get a kick out of a song I was planning on performing but never did, titled "Men Don't Clean Toilets." I also heard a feminist revision of "Blowin' in the Wind" sometime back, but I don't have a recording of it...

It would make DDR somewhat more challenging...
Hmm, perhaps...but then again, if I were a blob, the whole "exercise" motivation to play DDR would be irrelevent...if I just wanted to play it, say, to see Grover on Crack (or just to have an excuse to belt out my own throaty rendition of "I Like to Move It"), I could always just plotz down in the center of the pad, spread a pseudopod in all 4 directions, and smack them up and down as necessary...in my current shape I'll probably be able to do that with my gut pretty soon.

Any of the other 'positive' traits associated with "female" (like being sensitive, and nurturing, and empathic, and stuff) are hardly exclusive to one gender.

True, true. I suppose pride is the wrong word, but consider this, if you will: It's my belief that there is nothing wrong with appreciating that 'biological distinction'. Humankind is created in two equal halves. The male half, and the female half. Leaving aside the linguistic question of the strong/weak binary opposition created by those terms, it is my point of view that since it requires both of our respective halves to ensure the continuation of the whole - that is until our decendants begin freezing sperm and ova in vast quantities and enter the era of growing humans in a tube, and use their genetic engineering techniques to make us all identical, genderless beings, then gender is something that we are stuck with, and something which we might as well learn to appreciate.

Even if there is no 'better' or 'worse' aspect to either gender - and I firmly hold that there is not - then each gender can be seen as equally positive, and it is only healthy to celebrate that which you are, even as you celebrate that which others are. It is a question of placing your own worth on a level with the value you assign to others. No lower and no higher, should be the general rule. That's all I'm implying with the suggestion that we should each take 'pride' in that which we are. The attitude that I think is idea is that of, "I'm great, and so are you."

Yes, I was being cynical there.
No doubt with a certain hint of irony, for if I do say so myself, I feel that I am unlikely to have deserved said cynicism. Of course I know you know that, and therefore, no offence is taken, where none was meant. ;)

:snicker: Well, if nothing else, I would fix the "default level of physical strength" issue, since men and women ought to be equally capable of beating each other up. It would make world a much better place. :P
On that, I can agree with you, I just would prefer not to see men and women reduced to identical, genderless creatures. I believe that once men and women have been seen to be entities which are separate and equal, each one magnificent in its own way, such a thing would be to regrettably diminish them both.

Ack. I've ranted, haven't I. I don't think that your views and mine are at odds with each other here... would you agree? I think that we approach the question from two different perspectives, but our desired state of affairs has much in common. Would you say that is a fair point?

To complete that illusion (which I'd love to see) you'd need to use some old, overly-ornate 'stagecoach" type font, and glaze the whole thing over in some kind of sepia tone, maybe adding a few bits of random wear and tear. Then, of course, just for effect, you might want to add ten-gallon hats, monocles, handlebar mustaches (or Groucho glasses :D) to the perpetrators.

Nosfelatio was a radio parody I heard some years ago on one of my favourite shows. It was a vampire who sucked not blood, but something else. Nobody could resist him.

About the exploit: Just imagine those poor prelates, who try to deny their true nature. The girls and their tongues could bring the wild animal within those tamed prelates, following the commands of their own Charlie.

That would be funny - except for the fact that I bet you could stroll down to your local porno store and buy 6 movies with that plot - 3 each with male/female Nosfelatios in the lead role. I've not exactly looked, but last time anyone checked, porno wasn't famous for great plots. When you just know your intended audience is mostly going to fast-forward thru it, what's the incentive to do a plot that's even half-way decent?

I suppose it never occured to me that the very definition of porn might preclude any notion of a plot, or anything above and beyond the central element of sex. At least, I guess that this sort of reasoning exuses plotless porno films, and may be the ultimate reasons why those films are devoid of plot - those who make them fear that it would be shunned by the porn consumer if it aspired to entertainment rather than mere titilation.

"Isha"?

Perhaps sometimes Keel makes Kaworu play "kitty boy". A real life phenomenon, from what I understand. "Now, Tab-chen, make sure to clean your ENTIRE body with your tongue, and only THEN will I give you some milk."

Edit: And why didn't I notice the little shota-con "singing" betwen Kaworu and Shinji!?

I thought it was pretty hard to miss. Would that be shota? Is shota anything with underage boys (though technically both Shinji and Kaworu AREN'T, in Japan), or does it necessarily involve pederasty?

You know, that's almost plausible as a Rei manufacturing mechanism - seed Lilith's flesh with whatever could be recovered of Yui and harness Lilith's regeneration, harvest the results and store them in a tank until needed.

As mentioned, doesn't really work... Compare Kaworu to Lilith (http://www.evamonkey.com/reichu/snappies/24_lilith_little-legs.jpg) (or the original version, here (http://www.evamonkey.com/reichu/snappies/oa-vs-npc/oa-vs-npc_24_lilith,kaworu.jpg)). Those legs are HUGE. Plus, since the first Rei seemed to start off in a most immature state (embryonic, perhaps?), might the additional bodies have been created the same way, growing in unison with Rei 1 until they were artificially aged? (This is actually depicted in a doujinshi -- non-H! omfg!! -- I picked up... I'll have to make a scan.)

He apparently tried to kill himself (screenshot) (http://evamonkey.com/reichu/snappies/m25_shinji_wet-head.jpg), too -- via drowning, at the very place he met Kaworu. I wondered for a long time what the point was of the tidbit in #16 that he couldn't swim. Is this the "payoff", I wonder?

Mordecai: "Like father, like daughter", more like... Looks like Shinji got that sex change he's been dreaming of since #26'.

Thanks but no thanks. That's about the most horrifying thing I've seen in Eva, on par with Rei's head split open. And before you explain, for God's sake don't explain what maggots were doing there, I don't wanna know.

Is that so? For someone to sink so low as to feel that is the only answer is tragic, it is one of the most horrible things imagineable. To feel that they cannot go on, that they'd never find happiness again...it's just tragic.

As if the proper image isn't bad enough. Scares me to think of how it might be used or modified for Asuka hate pages.

Careful how you throw the word "tragic" around... Drama majors know a secret that has been kept hidden from the masses, and they will be ruthless about setting you straight. ;)

Also, AA, Asuka The Maggoty hasn't been revised in any way by Renewal, it's just that much clearer (http://evamonkey.com/reichu/snappies/m25_asuka_corpse.jpg). Let's count the baby flies feeding on her rotting flesh!
