Well, the reason I didn't comment there was because my ideas of what Zero would do in her spare time are too heavily influenced by, indeed, the AU/BES "alter-ego". The two are somewhat inseparable in my mind. It's easy to compartmentalize in serious discussion about EVA-00, but when things get silly I tend to default to that strange, disharmonious-with-canon concept of Zerogouki that forces itself to manifest at any given opportunity...

The irony is, of course, that when I am in Serious NGE Theorist Mode, I spit upon such blatant falsehoods as Naoko-in-Zero. But in my selfish, personal AU universe, Naoko-as-Zero began to take shape before the Days of Enlightenment, and I love her character far to much to abandon her for the sake of "accuracy". It's fanfiction! To hell with accuracy! I shall make up for such sacrifices at least tenfold, should this story ever become refined enough for public consumption! I shall prove that fanfiction does not have to suck! I shall.... stop ranting and go to bed...

These beings are alive, but might as well be dead(except bousou). Evas are bodies restrained, rarely freed. They can have body parts grown back and replaced, as well as the entry plug system infused with them and the armor bolted on their skin. They're controlled. Yet they need to be alive to defeat the angels(Though the kids are what makes the show, so they can't just have a buncha Evas killiing angels everywhere, there'd be no marketable show. Angst & hot girls!). So it's a two-sided coin. In Reichu's own works(and my imatations, if that's a correct word^^; ), Evas can actually be free and truly alive. it's all in good fun, and art I suppose.

It's a joke that came from another Eva forum actually, in which someone pointed out that the Geofront did get the crap beat out of it in several episodes, and then later appeared to be allright. I'm not sure as to how true this is, but it raised the question, well, how does the base get repaired so quickly? Though, in retrospect, it is kind of a lame joke, and I also realize that there are several problems of proportions with it, but, eh, it was an old drawig anyway. I guess I really just wanted an excuse to draw Gendo with a whip. ^_^

Hmm, yeah. I'd need to start that one from scratch. For one thing, the various parts (face, jaw piece, other helmet parts) aren't shown from a consistent POV. DOH! Even if it were right, her face isn't in my current style, where I go for more human-like eyelids (the pink vulval lids disturb me; they look better same color as the other skin) and the different skin shades gradiate into one another.

I agree that the human race holds a lot of odd little taboos, like why guys can take off their shirts, and women can't, (seriously, there's nothing all that special about boobs), but I can see how covering yourself a little bit might be practical. First of all, for warmth. This doesn't apply during the summer, of course. But another reason might be-- Well, I saw A Clockwork Orange the other day, and after reading this thread it got me thinking-- wearing clothes serves as a sort of defense. Okay, I'm sure that sounds silly, but allow me to explain. When do you generally take your clothes off? When taking a shower or changing clothes, having sex, or... being raped, in which case it's not you who takes your clothes off, but, well, you see what I'm saying... When you've got your clothes off, all of a sudden you become vulnerable.

The question is, is that because of the taboo or not? Well, unfortunately, popular culture has left many people ashamed of their bodies, which is really a shame, but I feel that for the most part the need to have clothes evolved from the need to have warmth and eventually the need to have security. Would we be just as safe without our clothes? Of course not.

Plus, think of it as a sort of... Natural procreation barrier. The only time you can have sex is when your partner gives you the mental heads-up-- "Okay, you can awkardly take my clothes off now." Geez, if we ran around without clothes on, screwing each other whenever we felt like it, there'd be way too many of us stinking humans on this planet (there are already quite a few!).

Of course, unfortunately, a side effect of this "security" is that now most people freak out when they see a naked body. :rolleyes: But, hey, not everyone! In cultures where everyone is going around with virtually nothing on, are they having sex constantly? I don't think so -- they've got plenty of better things to do. The human body is just the human body. It's in societies where nudity is a big no-no that the weird attitudes about "private parts" start to show up. IMO, the act of covering ourselves even when not needed for protection against the elements or whatever is very damaging to the human psyche.

Me agree. Here's what a Kensuke vs. Zeruel battle would be like:

Kensuke's Eva-14 is standing in the geofront, awaiting the arrival of the mighty Angel.

"Sugoi.... So many weapons...! And I actually get the use them! This is my lucky day!"

A loud explosion rocks the geofront, and Zeruel enters trough the hole ve blasted mere seconds ago.

"Sugoi! It's an Angel! And I'm gonnna fight it! I-I can't believe it!"

Kensuke quickly grabbed two rifles, and began to blast away at the vaugely humanoid form that was now hovering in the air above him.

"Su... Sugoi! These weapon's power is incredible! This will be an easy match! And I will be hailed as a glorious champion of humanity... Heck, maybe Misato-san will ask me to live with her instead of that loser, Ikari! I can't believe how lucky I am! Sugoi!"

That was before an arm shaped like a long, sharp piece of toilet paper approached Eva-14 rapidly. In the very last moment, the Eva was suddenly given concious thought. Her eyes turned red, and it opened it's mouth...

"Bummer."

... And so spoke her final words before the very, very, long and very, very, sharp piece of toilet paper cut her head off.

Chances are he'd survive it but the Eva would take some massive punishment. A lot of the Angels go down easily once the weakness is divined by the pilot. The thing is, Shinji and Asuka are so emotional they don't think about this. Then it comes to them as they go all out on the angel. Rei is just plain complacent.

Kensuke however would be alert and thinking clearly since he's the most unf_cked up of all of them.

And they manage to fail even at that. Like I said, if they put an able and willing person with a lust for blood into an Eva, the angels would get thrashed hardcore.

However, Asuka:

-too emotional and angry
-too excitable
-choke artist(as in chokes up at the worst times and often)

Shinji:

-Waxes emotional at the worst of times
-Flashbacks.
-severely depressed

Rei:

-is a Emo Girl Doll. Enough said.
