Maya's quite an interesting character. She's one of the few femine characters in the series. Also she's quite empathic and moral. She's a good foil for her senpai, Ritsuko, a rather cold woman with few scruples. It's no wonder her fan base is bigger than you'd think.

You see she's the white hat. Ritsuko's the black hat.
White hats always learn tricks from the black hats in their early years, they even respect them. But eventually white hats either go to the dark side or become too disillusioned with the black hat's dark intendtions. Such a white hat is usually stronger with the force than your average hacker.

Without wanting to ignite a political powder keg here either, I'm not sure how much of these incidents are real and how much of it were set up or misreported to tell the story that the reporters wanted to tell, but certainly in genuine cases the people involved should be locked up. Anyone who takes pleasure in that sort of thing is not only out of their mind they're a disgrace to everything that their allies fight for.

I find something about this image unsettling.

It almost as if her body is a photo of a kit, and the rest has been painted around it - there is a very plastic lustre about it.

So many of the Asuka/anyone-but-him images are alas either Rei (too predictable), are executed with rather less attention to model, or are not suitable for this forum; and I've not been an obsessive collector. The Arisgawa Juri edit is the only one that was really worth posting.

It actually is just a dream that Asuka has. The doujinshi that is it from is actually very sad.

Cripes, where on earth can a nice girl like me get ahold of non-H doujinshi without spending tons of money (of which I have none right now anyway)? Do any of the serious or comedy doujins enjoy any kind of underground fan distribution? Le sigh. At least DD has that Yui/Gendo one I remember seeing at mantra's site long ago -- which is refreshing because not only does it have Yui, it depicts consentual sex between a loving couple (as opposed to the garbage that permeates the genre -- "H is for Humiliation")!! (Still... it coulda been better. :naughty: )

Well, there is fan-art out there that manages to emulate the 'cel style' well enough that I'd dumped them in with official illustrations before knowing better... It certainly is possible. One can do a lot of cool things with computers these days.

Oh, and I don't think new stuff will be coming from me anytime soon... I have far too much ambition and not nearly enough consistency. But it's fun to dream.

For example, my latest dream is to take my ultimate revenge against those wretched and cliched H-doujinshi and make something as utterly stupid and crude as they -- except with Evas/Angels instead of 'cute girls/boys'. And for maximum accessibility, this volume would be based directly on the show -- no BES stuff --, warping preexisting situations into vile smut. (For example, Yui-sama 'taking the Angel into herself' :cough:, the harpies ravishing Kyoko-sama, menage a trois courtesy of Armisael, etc.) Then I would get it uploaded in as many places as possible (where H is permissable), then sit back and enjoy the sweet, sweet chaos. My gawd, it would be wonderful.

What's up with the artist more like. They currupted a bunch of Eva pics so that Asuka is going on like Stone Cold, or DX like in one image I haven't put up yet. Still I'm surprised I haven't seen anything like that of Rei. There's a wrestler called the Undertaker, and around the time Eva was having it's run in the west he was very gothic, satanic, taking souls and such that would fit in well with Rei. Anyway, glad the site's back up.

It's funny you mention the Austin thing as I've always played around with having a Rei clone who imitates him and such for a change of pace.

Awww, that was just the only great moment I could think of. Outside of Eva, there are only a handful of other anime I really like. I'm not as much of a huge fan of anime as most people around here. I've been watchin anime for years, but I tend only to like a small number of shows.

Also, while he isn't the greatest director, he is an auteur. There are a lot of technically good directors working in anime, but there aren't an enormous number of auteurs. The thing about the work of the auteur, as far as I am concerned, is that while it may not be the best work from the standard point of view, it is always interesting, and I am, first and foremost, a lover of the techniques of storytelling - the narrative tradition, and all that stuff. What I look for in an anime, or in a film is examples of innovative and interesting ways of presenting the story to the audience, not just entertainment.

Personally, I regard NGE as the most interesting anime, but that is from the point of view of the complex way the story is presented. I'm more than happy to admit that there are many anime that I think are better, or at least, more well-rounded, and with fewer flaws. There are even anime I enjoy more, such as Kimagure Orange Road, but few that I find so interesting as I do NGE.

On an aside, I'd like to state that in fact, my own personal 'greatest anime moment' was when Kimagure Orange Road was released on DVD. While I do find NGE by far the most interesting anime, I don't think anything could touch KOR for sheer enjoyment. So, yeah, I retract my hasty statement about the birth of Anno.

The technicalities of it boggle, though... Gendo would presumably be held by the feet (whenever Yui needs to take matters into her own hand, anyhow), and he would need to be attached to a string so that he doesn't get lost. He would also have to take measures to prevent drowning in "holy water"; with someone as big as an Eva, it'd be a veritable waterfall in there.

And if we want to go threesome, why not invite ol' Kozo in? I'm sure there's more than enough room...

I figure I may as well share the wealth. Most of these are screenshots (originally PNGs) I took myself, supplemented by whatever crap in my GOS folder I couldn't get a screeny of. For purposes of practicality, I've converted most of the PNGs into 90% JPEGs; although if you really want the PNGs (which have no compression artifacts, but are helluva bigger), you can nag me on AIM or something.

You poor thing. You poor poor thing. I've played it, and when I was dropped into the EoE ending without warning (as the game oft does) I thought stuff this. It is all horribly out of character and even...Gibly I think is the word I'm looking for, at times. Change and lightheartedness is good, but please try and keep some grip on reality. Rei smiling that she won a game and has Shinji carry her things for her? Touji showing up alive and well to be told that the world will end in a week? Please, in future do not suffer through such travesties on our behalf. The only good to come out of this is you using up monkey boy's bandwith to host the images you were kind enough to take for us.

Yeah, the plot was pretty lame -- it was like a bad fanfic. A really bad fanfic. It was fun to see Asuka get seethingly jealous of Mana throughout, however. And the VA performances are good, even though the material stinks.

Mana is a character that defies all sense of logic. I mean, not only does she strip in front of Shinji, she also somehow manages to survive an N^2 blast inside a life capsule that gets blown from Gotenba to the ocean. Yah, right!

What EoE ending?

When does that happen?

At the end Shinji is camping with Touji and Kensuke, and he is given the option of whether or not to tell them about the world ending and such. Never mind that he's not supposed to know this. Anyway, this is like one week before EoE, and where Touji appears. The scenes from EoE occur throughout the game. At the end of the first act or some way through the second act the scene where Instrumentality begins (where Shinji chokes Asuka) plays. If you lose the scene where Instrumentality fails plays. At the end the scene where Rei basically had accomplished Instrumentality and faces Eva 01 plays, which I made an avater of by the way. Then at the very end there's a scene where you talk to Asuka in her plug suit, I think you have to choose her over Mana, anyway you talk to Asuka, then BAM, the movie kicks in. It's the end of EoE, starting with Rei's severed head (yeah, my QLN), and showing the devestation that had occured, the dead Evas, the red sea, the children on the beach, and that's about it. I felt this way with EoE and I'll say it now with this game, what a crappy way to end something. In fact here it's even worse, as there is no sign of hope, no Asuka recovering or even any sign that she and Shinji are alive, nothing.

Now if only there were comprehensive image collections for the various other NGE games...

Koutetsu no Girlfriend (1) has only three endings:

-Shinji forgets about Mana and gets stuck at a bus (train?) depot with Asuka (with sexy results).

-Shinji finds Mana in a hospital and brings her home (with sexy results).

-Shinji gets involved in a car chase and meets Mana one last time (with... no, that one was just cute.)

Too bad GOS seems to be the only Eva-game out there translated in English - as much as they do most likely suck, some part of me still wants to witness what kind of "official" abominations Gainax has produced. Especially the alternate scenarios in Impression-game series might be amusing, with the mysterious eleventeenth "extra" angel and whatnot. But since those games appear to be Sega exclusives (IIRC), I guess we won't be seeing translated versions of them. Chances might be higher with the "Raising Project" -series since they're PC-games.

A recent column in Games: The Magazine (a UK monthly games mag) was speaking of exactly this. They aren't aimed at capturing the same market as 'real' games, but they do sell well, for relatively low prices, and they fullfil a need for light entertainment. Something to do which is undemanding, and pleasing to look at. It seems that romance is the primary genre, but the article did not go into specifics. It was purely a sidebar to a larger article.

Since I did waste hours, myself, on playing a dumb flash dating game based loosely on Evangelion on newgrounds a few weeks ago, and so did Magami and Reichu if I recall correctly, then I'm not entirely shocked by this notion. They aren't exactly rewarding to play, but there are times when an undemanding distraction from your real life,is all you need, really.

Just unlikely. There is a patch system that allows for the application of translation patches to CD image files. SEGA exclusives, you say? I know nothing of the games in question, but it's a question of emulation, not translation. Neither Saturn emulation nor Dreamcast emulation is quite so perfect as it could be. If it were a PS-One game in question, then there would be little in the way of difficulty, but the SEGA consoles still have some way to go before they really offer a quality experience with most games. It's not that they don't work at all, but they are still very flakey.

It's eminently possible, should someone have the skills and the time.
