Those legs are HUGE. Plus, since the first Rei seemed to start off in a most immature state (embryonic, perhaps?), might the additional bodies have been created the same way, growing in unison with Rei 1 until they were artificially aged? (This is actually depicted in a doujinshi -- non-H! omfg!! -- I picked up... I'll have to make a scan.)

No, it actually took me a while... I was looking at that particular cut, and it suddenly dawned on me to actually consider why Shinji's hair looked so funny. And then I'm like, "Oh... drop of water... wet hair... OMFG!!!" Strange thing is, I think I'm the only person I remember ever having mentioned this much-overlooked subtlety; even when I've mentioned it in the past before, no one really took much notice.

Seriously, the pic looks like it's taken from The Castle of Cagliostro, where after the opening chase sequence Lupin saves Clarise and they are hanging from that string Lupin has. Of course it's not meant to be in that context, but I would say that's where the original pic came from and someone had edited it to include Rei.

While we're on the topic, I have a few thoughts on what I'm guessing inspired that pic and your new avater (the image of Asuka's rotting corpse that's flashed when she is in her Eva, before she reawakens in Rebirth\EoE). The first is whether or not this is a metaphor for how some fans feel about Asuka. Even way back when the show first started there were wars over who was better out of Rei and Asuka. Rei was really loved, and rabid fans cared only about her, not any of the other characters. That image could be seen as either a shock to those fans, reminding us that there are other characters as well, or of how those fans felt about Asuka. The second thought I have what it meant to Asuka. This image appears as Asuka decides that she doesn't want to die, even though she tried to commit suicide not long ago. So by seeing herself that way (I assume we were looking into her self concious) she feels that life, without Kaji, was preferable to her turning out like that. The last thought in my mind has to do with the inclusion of the image in the first place. End of Evangelion was not made in revenge to fans not liking the original TV ending. We all know that. But would it be unreasonable to assume that the response, which included death threats, influenced the movie in any way? If the backlash against the original ending was not as it was, would the image of Asuka's corpse had been included? Or the grusome fight against the harpies? The drawn out death sequences? Rei\Lilith's head and face cracked open? Is it possible that some of this was included as a result of the criticism Anno had over the ending?

Well, there are only a few images of Hikari as pilot (and most of them have been posted in the thread (or this one (http://www.animenation.net/forums/showthread.php?t=164143&page=3&pp=15#post4432360)). The only other one I can recall is one where her plug-suit has been reduced to just the yoke and gloves (and is teal rather than gold).

Of course, if we take a broader interpretation of the title, and consider pictures where she could do with just a little encouragement to action, and not discussion, there's always this one :naughty:

It was pointed out (in the commentary?) that if you take away the hair, then Shinji looks identical to a character from one of Anno's other anime - a female character. Shinji doesn't need any help to look feminine.

Granted, I prescribe to the notion that if a woman does not fit the definition of "feminine", then it is the notion of femininity that needs to change and not her. But whatever.

It's probably true to say that for any individual woman, there are at least some people who find her to perfectly fulfill their definition of feminity. I find that problems with limited definitions of feminity are largely the preserve of men who are too immature to accept that women come in a wider variety of shapes, sizes and styles that can be found in the pages of Playboy magazine. Guys like that need to grow up, as far as I'm concerned.

IIRC body fat levels are the most direct feed into menarche : if the body has the reserves to survive a pregnancy, the ability to get pregnant kicks in.

Yeah, when Shin-Seiki posted the picture, I did not dismiss the possibility for a reference on the grounds that it was unlikely that Tom & Jerry would be known to Anno, but rather, on the grounds that as a reference, it is pointless. It's my firm belief that visual reference will usually only be thrown in if that which is being referenced has some kind of relevance to the scene in question. The religious themes being a sort of an exception to this rule, of course, but they are not a series of individual, disparate visual references, they constitute a style deliberately selected and (by certain specific standards) consistently imposed.

IMO, the human teeth are creepy because they evoke this image of death. I mean, the only time you'll see the full dentition of normal humans is when they have no skin -- i.e., on naked skulls! Try as I might (http://evamonkey.com/reichu/non-nge/reichu-teeth.jpg), I can only expose as far back as the second bicuspid -- and even this looks pretty weird-looking, since I don't think any normally-occuring human expressions involve baring the teeth to that degree. Going to the dentist, getting X-rays taken, and getting to see a clear view of my teeth is a pretty weird feeling. "Wow, teeth are f***ed-up looking!"

That screenshots is interesting, as they not only neglect to give her gums, but some cheek-like structure is occuring far too soon on the jawline. Remember, these girls are supposed to be able to snarl as far back as the molars!
Well, at least in this one pic (http://evamonkey.com/reichu/snappies/19_C356_eva01_meat.JPG), they're exposed up to the second molars. Then, Eva tooth configuration and amount of exposure varies considerably depending on which screenshot one looks at. -_-;
